My boys are big fans of Star Wars, and my oldest has even asked for a Star Wars theme for his upcoming birthday. We own all of the movies on DVD and they love to watch them. So they were very excited when we received a Star Wars Prize Pack to review from Big G Cereals and MyBlogSpark.

Zumba Fitness 2 Review

Growing up I loved to dance-I took lesson for years in tap, jazz, and ballet. I also enjoyed attending school dances with my friends. Dancing was not only fun for me, but a great way to stay in shape. I kept up with dancing at college through ballet and modern classes. However, after college, when I started working, it got harder for me to find the time to exercise. And so without exercising and having two kids, I have put on more weight than I would like. With baby #3 on the way, I know that after pregnancy I need to find a way to get back in shape. It has to be convenient-with three kids I do not see me finding the time to head to the gym and it has to keep me interested. I've never been one to just walk or run on a treadmill. So I was excited when asked to review the Zumba Fitness 2 for the Wii.

Last year, I had first learned about Zumba® and I have been wanting to try it out. The original Zumba® Fitness game sold 3 million copies worldwide, so I knew that the sequel would be fun to review. Here is a little about the game Zumba® Fitness 2:

The sequel, Zumba® Fitness 2, features more than 30 new sizzling dance tracks from the Zumba® program, many created by Grammy-winning producers. The latest title gets players moving with Zumba creator Beto and international celebrity instructors Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant as they guide players through exhilarating choreography that spans 20 different international dance styles. For the first time, players can customize their own class with their favorite routines, follow their improvement through an all new Progress tracker and track calories burned. Whether playing in Single Song, Full Class or Zumba Party modes that support up to 4 dancers, players will have a blast with this unique dance fitness experience that shapes, tones and transforms their bodes and makes them forget they're even exercising.

My thoughts: I was excited to give this fitness game a try and it did not disappoint. I like that you can choose to play a single song or a full class. You can also choose whether you want a low, medium, or high intensity workout. Being about 7 months pregnant, I decided that a single song, low-intensity workout would be the best for me. As you follow the moves of the animated figure, a box will also appear to prepare you for what the next movement will be. If you need extra practice with the moves, you can choose the Learn the Steps mode, where Beto teaches you four different moves associated with Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Reggaeton. I also like that it comes with a fitness belt so that you do not need to hold onto the controller.

In my opinion, this game is fun, and also provides you with a good workout as well.

Magic Cabin Review and Giveaway: Twilight Turtle

Over the summer, we moved into a new home, where our boys were lucky enough to have their own rooms. I think at first they were skeptical about not sharing a room, but they have slowly adjusted. The boys do not have night lights in their room, but our oldest has a clock that lights up. So our youngest son really wanted to find something for his room that would light up too. I was excited when asked to write a review for Magic Cabin, because they had the perfect item for his new room-the Twilight Turtle.

While I could spend hours just browsing their website, for this review I knew that the Twilight Turtle would be perfect. Although this product is recommended for children ages 3 and up, my only concern was whether at age 5, he would be too old for this product. When it arrived in the mail, he wanted to immediately open it up and put it in his room. This plush turtle with a plastic shell, projects a starry sky onto the walls and ceilings of his room. He loves this turtle and enjoys looking up at the sky in his room before he falls asleep. He also likes that he can change the color of the stars since there are three options to chose from: blue, green, and amber. I would definitely recommend this product, and I am considering buying another one for our baby on the way.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes DVD Review

My husband and I love to watch movies. Although it is always fun to head to the theater, with two young boys we do not get to go often. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a movie we had hoped to see in theaters, but we did not make it. So we were excited when given the opportunity to review the movie on DVD. Here is a synopsis of the movie:

James Franco (127 Hours) stars as Will Rodman, a neuroscientist living in San Francisco trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease by testing on chimpanzees, giving them a human level of intelligence. After a test subject's baby, Caesar, is orphaned, Will decides to raise him at home on his own with his Alzheimer-stricken father (John Lithgow; "Dexter"). What begins simply as a continuation of his experiment quickly turns into a problem for Will, as Caesar is taken away from him and forced to live in a primate facility. As Caesar's intelligence continues to grow, he begins to stake his claim as the leader of his new primate counterparts, which will ultimately lead to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Our thoughts: My husband absolutely loved the movie and I got to admit it was enjoyable to watch. Although chimpanzees are not the cutest monkeys, Caesar as a baby was adorable. And it was interesting to watch the progression of Caesar's intelligence, as well as his distrust and dislike of humanity. It is no surprise that he turns his back on humanity, given the fact that he is taken from the humans he loves, is imprisoned, and then is so poorly mistreated. And although it was not the main idea of the movie, I was routing for Will in hopes that his experimental drug would cure Alzeheimer's Disease since I hope that one day a real cure will be found. This movie will keep you interested and always wondering what will happen next.

Saving Money at the Dollar Tree

Looking to save money when shopping-if so I would encourage you to check out your local Dollar Tree store where everything is $1. One of my favorite things to shop for there are cards. Although, I enjoy sending cards to my family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and new babies, cards can be so expensive. And what do you do with the cards after the celebration is over? I am a bit sentimental and a little bit of a pack rat so I do keep all of my cards, but my guess is that many people eventually throw them out. So I shop for most of my cards at the Dollar Tree. Why spend $3 or $4 on a card, when you can buy a decent one for only $1. Another item that I head to the Dollar Tree for is wrapping paper and gift bags. They usually have a good selection for any celebration, and I have even gotten compliments on some of the wrapping paper that I bought there.

The Dollar Tree really has a lit of bit of everything. Besides cards and wrapping paper, you can find party supplies, books, toys, health and personal care items, cleaning, storage, and hardware, kitchen items, office supplies, and school supplies. If you visit your local store, you can pick up a single supply item, but you can also buy in bulk if you shop online. Some items available by the case are pens, pencils, index cards, sticky notes, loose leaf paper, and composition notebooks. And if you are a teacher, you might want to check out their teacher supplies. At my local store, they have reward stickers and certificates, borders for a bulletin board, posters, activity books, and flashcards. These items are also available online and I also love that they are now accepting Paypal.

The Looney Tunes Show Season 1 Volume 2 DVD Review

My boys love to watch The Looney Tunes and I enjoy watching the show with them since it reminds me of my childhood. Actually, my boys favorite Christmas CD is one where all of the characters of the Looney Tunes sing some classic Christmas songs. Recently, we had the opportunity to review, The Looney Tunes Show Season 1 Volume 2 on DVD. Here is the synopsis:

This half-hour animated comedy series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck is no longer confined to 7-minute shorts. Bugs and Daffy are out of the woods and living in the suburbs among such colorful neighbors as Yosemite Sam, Granny, Tweety and Sylvester. In addition to each episode's main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features "cartoons within a cartoon." The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies. The legendary Looney Tunes cartoons are getting a 21st century relaunch and a CGI overhaul for a new generation. 4 new episodes on DVD for the first time.

My thoughts: We enjoyed watching all four episodes together. I really liked Monster Talent, where Daffy tries to teach Gossamer how to fit in and make friends. My boys like watching Reunion, where Daffy attends his high school reunion and gets into all sorts of trouble by telling lies about his life. These episodes are fun and entertaining and family friendly.

"Dolphin Tale" Blu-ray Combo Pack Review

Are you looking for a heartwarming story to watch with your family? If so, I would recommend "Dolphin Tale", which was inspired by the true story of Winter. We had hoped to see this movie in the theaters, but our summer was so busy that it didn't happen. Here is the synopsis of the movie:

Swimming free, a young dolphin is caught in a crab trap, severely damaging her tail. She is rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where she is named Winter. But her fight for survival has just begun.

Losing her tail may cost Winter her life. It will take the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist, the ingenuity of a brilliant prosthetics doctor, and the unwavering devotion of a young boy to bring about a groundbreaking miracle-a miracle that might not only save Winter but could also help thousands of people around the world.

The real Winter, who plays herself in "Dolphin Tale," today serves as a symbol of courage and hope, to millions of people-especially those facing their own physical challenges-who have been touched by her remarkable story of recovery and rehabilitation.

My thoughts: We put this movie in to watch for family movie night, and at the beginning my boys were less than thrilled. Although they sat in the living room with my husband and me, they felt that playing their DS would be more entertaining. However, it was not long before they were watching the movie as well. I have always enjoyed watching true stories, and this was no exception. I really loved this movie! Despite their hesitation at the beginning, my boys did enjoy the movie as well. It was family friendly, heartwarming, uplifting, and inspiring. It even brought tears to my eyes at times. This movie is a great addition to our movie collection.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season One Volume 3 Review

Growing up, I enjoyed watching Scooby and the Gang solve mysteries, and I am thrilled that years later Scooby is still around for my boys. We own quite a few Scooby Doo DVDs and so we were excited when given the opportunity to review Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 1 Volume 3. Here is the synopsis:

The adventures of a talking dog and his four human pals as they try to unravel the strange and haunted history of their hometown. The tone is comedic, but it will never lose the edge that our heroes are in some frightening situations. The stakes are real.

Our thoughts: My kids enjoyed watching all four episodes of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Battle of the Humungonauts, Howl of the Fright Hound, The Secret Serum, and Shrieking Madness. It is always entertaining watching the gang solve the latest mystery, and in this series we also have the drama of Daphne's crush on Fred who always seems more interested in his traps, as well as Velma's jealousy of the friendship of Shaggy and Scooby. And although they solve the current mystery, we keep watching to see if they will solve the underlying mystery which links all of the episodes together. Although, I wish that more than four episodes were included on the DVD, we all enjoyed watching them together.

My boys love Alvin and the Chipmunks, and they love playing the Wii, so I thought that the new Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Wii Game would be a great addition to our game collection. And after playing it with my two boys-we found out it is! Here is a little about the new game from Majesc o:

The game is set aboard a luxury cruise liner that gets turned into their personal playground, and on a deserted island on which they've become 'chipwrecked.' Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked features 30 songs on Kinect for Xbox 360 and Wii™ versions and 18 tracks in the Nintendo DS™ version of the game. Our thoughts: I have always loved to dance, so video games with dancing are right up my alley. Although, this game is geared towards kids, I really did enjoy it. Being 22 weeks pregnant, I was still able to keep up with the Chipmunks during one song and then take a break to watch my boys try out the moves as well. I love that you can play as any of the six characters and they also have a great collection of songs such as: Only Want to Be With You, Stayin Alive, Witch Doctor, and Turn the Beat Around. I think that this is a great game to teach my boys coordination and rhythm. Not only did they enjoy trying out the dance moves, but they loved that you could also customize your characters by choosing shirts, hats, glasses, and bling. This game was perfect for my boys because it was not too easy, but also not too challenging that they would lose interest. We found this game fun and entertaining!

Kung Fu Panda 2 Double DVD Pack Review

My boys loved Kung Fu Panda, so we were excited when we heard that a sequel was coming out. Although, we could not make it to the theaters, we knew that it was one movie that we wanted to get when it came out on DVD. Tonight, we were able to sit down and watch the movie as a family. Our thoughts: We all enjoyed watching this movie, which is jammed pack with very well known actors and actresses. In Kung Fu Panda 2, Po and The Furious Five, must fight Lord Shen, who has created a weapon so powerful that it might bring about the end of kung fu. As the story unfolds, Po learns about his past and he must learn to find inner peace among his pain. My boys loved watching the characters take on the evil villain. There was certainly plenty of action in the movie and drama too- I enjoyed learning about how Po came to be adopted. This movie was perfect for our family movie night!

Happiness Is...Peanuts: Snow Days DVD Review

My boys have been waiting for snow this year, and it seemed like it would never come. We had snow once before and they had fun playing in it, but it didn't stay on the ground more than a few hours that day. Yesterday we had snow that actually stuck to the ground (although thin enough that you can see grass) and my boys were so excited. It seemed fitting then to watch Happiness Is... Peanuts: Snow Days. Here is the synopsis of the DVD:

Happiness is…Peanuts™: Snow Days – The newest Peanuts collection of stories celebrates everyone’s favorite thing about a long chilly winter: snow days! My thoughts: As a young girl, I can remember watching Charlie Brown around the holidays and reading Charlie Brown in the Sunday paper. However, I do not think that I ever saw these two features as a girl. As I sat down with my youngest, I was excited to share with him some of my favorite characters from my youth. Although, I enjoyed watching She's A Good Skate, Charlie Brown which focuses on Peppermint Patty, my favorite was The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show which features all of the lovable Peanuts characters. Cuddling up and watching these two features made for a great snowy afternoon.

My thoughts: There are a few things that I like about Topricin Junior. First of all, it has so many uses. Not only does it promote healing and relieves pain from injuries, but it is also useful for skin conditions and bug bites. My oldest son 's skin is sensitive and his elbows itch him from time to time. So this product would be helpful when his skin is irritated. Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special DVD Review

Each December, we look forward to watching some Christmas Classics, and also look out for some new favorite holiday specials. I was excited to hear that Ice Age had a Christmas special. I have enjoyed watching the Ice Age movies, but I thought that my boys had never seen them. When Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special arrived in the mail, my boys were excited to watch it. My oldest said that he had actually seen one of the Ice Age movies in school and was hoping to watch the Christmas special this season. Here is the synopsis of the movie:

In ICE AGE: A MAMMOTH CHRISTMAS, America's favorite arctic herd is busy decorating for the holiday season. In his rush to help, Sid (John Leguizamo) destroys Manny's (Ray Romano) favorite decorations. Manny is so upset he convinces Sid he is now on Santa's naughty list. Sid, Crash (Seann William Scott), Eddie (Josh Peck) and Peaches (Ciara Bravo) take off for the North Pole to plead their case to Santa (Billy Gardell). Meanwhile, Manny, Ellie (Queen Latifah) and Diego (Denis Leary), worry over Peaches' safety and race to find her. Back at the North Pole, Sid and his crew accidentally destroy Santa's Workshop on Christmas Eve, and it's up to these newfound friends to orchestrate a Christmas miracle. The instant holiday classic, directed by Karen Disher, also features the voice talent of Chris Wedge, T.J. Miller and Judah Friedlander.

Our thoughts: My boys and I really enjoyed sitting down and watching this movie together. I liked how they incorporated some of our Christmas traditions, explaining and illustrating in Ice Age Style the decorating of the Christmas Tree, Santa's Nice and Naughty List, and how it was decided to have reindeer pull Santa's sleigh. Although it is only 25 minutes, it was entertaining and fun to watch with my family. And of course, if you are wondering if Scrat and his acorn adventures appear in this movie, you will not be disappointed.

Holiday Gift Guide: Glow Crazy Distance Doodler

Recently, we received the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler in the mail to review and my boys were so excited. They could not wait to open the package and were not happy when I told them they had to eat dinner first. However, after dinner we opened the box. The Glow Crazy Distance Doodler comes with 1 Dual-Action Magic Wand, 3 Crazy Color Clings, 3 Super Clings, and 4 Stencil Sheets. The only thing else we needed was 2 AAA batteries and a dark room.

I put up one Super Cling in each of my boys' rooms and told them that they had to take turns. I set a time limit of 10 minutes each-which for my boys seems like a very long time. However, they absolutely loved playing with the Distance Doodler-especially since it is glows in the dark. The other cool thing is you can write with the wand up to 10 feet away. With the wand you can either make wide beams or thin beams. The Distance Doodler is great because it keeps them occupied for a long time. The only problem we have is that the boys fight over it. Looks like we might need to buy another one for Christmas so that they can each have their own. For $19.99, it would make a great Christmas present for your kids ages 6 and up.

Growing up, I can remember watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas every year on TV. Since I enjoyed watching it so much as a child, it does not surprise me that my oldest son loves it too. We have a copy of it that we taped one year and he will watch it anytime-even in the middle of summer. He was thrilled when he learned that we had the opportunity to review the DVD Dr. Seuss's Holidays on the Loose! Not only would we now have a commercial-free version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but there are two other Grinch classics included. Here is the synopsis of the three stories:

Our thoughts: My kids love watching this DVD-especially since it has the Grinch in it. How the Grinch Stole Christmas will always be a Christmas classic in my house. I just love how the story shows that Christmas is not about the presents, but so much more. I think that often kids get too wrapped up in the material aspect of Christmas, instead of focusing on the precious gift that God gave us through his Son. While they enjoyed all three features, How the Grinch Stole Christmas will always be the favorite. But a close second is The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat. Both my boys love the Cat in the Hat, so combine him with the Grinch and of course, they want to watch it.

If your children love Dr. Seuss's stories, I would definitely recommend this DVD.

Recently I was sent two new releases by Chicken Soup for the Soul. I love reading these books because they are always heart-warming and touching. Some stories make me laugh, while others make me cry. Here is little about the two newest books:

I love this game because it keeps them away from my Ipod and also because it has a variety of solitaire games which I love to play. With so many games to choose from, there is bound to be a favorite for everyone in your family.

I have to admit that I love stuffed animals. Although we have so many, sometimes they are hard to pass up in the store. Of course, a few of the stuffed animals that my kids have stand out above the rest-usually because it has sentimental value or maybe a character from their favorite movie. The Original Christmas Classics Blu-Ray Box Set Review

As I child, I can remember watching a few Christmas movies every year. And I am glad that even years later, my children look forward to watching these same movies. I was excited then, when asked to review The Original Christmas Classics Blu-Ray Box Set of four of my kids' favorite Christmas movies.

In the box set, you can enjoy watching such classic movies as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", "Frosty the Snowman," and "Frosty Returns." My kids love to watch these movies over and over. And while in the past, we looked forward to watching them every year in December, now that we own the box set, we can watch them anytime. My son's favorite movie is "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and my favorite as a child was "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Did you have a favorite Christmas classic?

My boys have grown up on VeggieTales. We own most of the movies, and always look forward to the newest release. Recently we had the chance to review The Little Drummer Boy, which is VeggieTales latest Christmas story. Here is the synopsis:

In this Veggie-version of a holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy, a lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. A story of hope, love and forgiveness, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

Our thoughts: As Christmas approaches, often we get caught up with the materialism that surrounds this holiday. Even a lot of our Christmas classics that we have come to love, leave out the most important reason for celebrating Christmas-the birth of our Lord and Savior. So one of the things that I love about this movie is the fact that it reminds us that Jesus is our reason for celebration. The other theme of this movie is forgiving others and trusting in God even when life seems unfair. At times, it may not always be easy to forgive others or trust in God, but we are called to do this throughout our Christian life.

So did we enjoy this movie? Yes. This movie captured my boys interest and is a great addition to our VeggieTales collection.

Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury and Book of Dragons DVD Review

My oldest son loves the movie How to Train Your Dragon and was hoping that a second movie would be made. He was in luck because released this week is a DREAMWORKS Dragons Double DVD and Online Video Game Pack. We were very excited to have the opportunity to review this latest release. My boys couldn't wait until the package arrived. Here is the synopsis of both DVDs as well as the online video game.

Our thoughts: Not only were we sent the Double DVD Pack and Video Game, but we were also sent a gift pack to help us prepare for the movies. We were sent the book "The Art of DREAMWORKS How to Train Your Dragon", 2 Viking helmets, microwave popcorn, and a Smores Kit. With two young boys, this gift pack was a hit. They loved everything-especially the Viking helmets. We enjoyed the movies as well with our favorite being the Gift of the Night Fury. In this movie, the Vikings are preparing to celebrate a holiday similar to our Christmas, when all of their dragons fly off somewhere. Well, almost all of the dragons. Two dragons stay behind-one because his owner has him chained up and of course, Toothless does not fly off since he can not fly without Hiccup. While Hiccup is glad that his dragon is still around, he feels that it is unfair that Toothless can not fly on his own and this encourages him to invent a device to help Toothless fly alone. When Toothless disappears as well, Hiccup goes in search of all of the missing dragons. Where do all of the dragons go? Well I will let you watch the movie yourself. This is a cute movie with a touching ending. I just wish it could have been longer.

If your children love How to Train Your Dragon, this new double DVD pack would make a great holiday gift.
