I decided to give Sephora Advanced Lash Booster a test drive and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This mascara made my lashes long and did an amazing job at separating them. Sephora Advanced Lash Booster is  “scientifically proven to enhance four lash characteristics: length, thickness, fullness, and strength” [Sephora.com]. I’m not sure about actually making my eyelashes grow, but it did do a beautiful job at making my lashes look dramatic and long. I picked up the black and I have to say it was definitely black. One of the best parts of this mascara is that it does not flake or smudge. I hate it when my mascara begins to run down my eyes throughout the day and it begins to make me look like I got punched in the eye ball.

Since the mascara is not water-proof it is not difficult to wash off, which means less lashes falling out. Non waterproof mascara works better during the work week since it will not hold the curl like a waterproof one. So I would suggest buying this mascara as a work week mascara and saving your more expensive waterproof one for the weekends or for a special night out on the town. They will accept any of their containers, bottles, tubes, and jars for recycling and as an incentive they often reward their customers with free products. It can’t get any better than that. I love freebies! You get rewarded for doing something good for the environment.

I love M.A.C. cosmetics. Their eye shadows are amazing because they are highly pigmented and I can’t get enough of all the colors. However, their makeup can get a little pricey. This is why I love their makeup recycling program.  If you return six M.A.C primary packaging containers to a M.A.C counter then you get one free lipstick of any color you like. Again more freebies! M.A.C lipsticks are not cheap, so this is a great way to get to try some of their lipsticks out.

I love The Returns to Origins Recycling Program. This company is really committed to saving the planet any way they can. Origins accepts any empty bottles, jars, makeup tubes, etc. FROM ANY BRAND! It does not have to be from Origins. All you have to do is go to an Origins retail store or a department store and drop off your containers. In addition, Origins products are mostly plant based and organic. They use ingredients like avocados, ginger, basil, and so many more.

Along with the other makeup recycling programs mentioned above, Aveda has a great program called Recycle Caps. Aveda knows that most caps that don’t get recycled end up in rivers, oceans, etc. Because many recyclers don’t accept rigid polypropylene (AKA: #5). of this, Aveda introduced their Recycle Caps program in 2008. Lip Gloss Recipes: Silky Smooth Lips

Things you will need:

• 1/4 Cup and 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil.
• A pinch of olive oil
• 4 Tbsp of grated beeswax.
• 1 Tbsp honey.
• 6 Capsules pure vitamin E oil.
• 1/4 Tsp cocoa butter.
• 7 Drops of lavender essential oil.

Instructions: You will heat the cocoa butter, beeswax, honey, olive oil, and almond oil in a pot. Keep the temperature very low. You don’t want them to burn. Once everything is melted,  place all ingredients in a round bowl and mix them all together. Now all you need to do is drop your ingredients into an empty lip gloss container. You can purchase empty lip gloss containers, tubes, and jars from many online stores. There are a few out there like: lipbalmtubes.com. They carry a wide variety of lip balm containers.

Keep in mind: If your lip gloss comes out too soft, re-melt it and add more beeswax which will fix the problem. On the other hand, if your lip gloss came out to hard then you will have to re-melt and add more oil oil.

Lip Gloss Recipes for Coconut Lovers:

Things you will need:

• 1 Tsp of coconut oil
• 1 Tsp of coconut butter
• 5 Drops of coconut flavoring
• 2 Tbsp of sunflower oil
• 1/2 Tbsp of shea butter
• 1/2 Tsp of honey

Instructions: First place the shea butter, coconut butter, and coconut oil in a pot. Heat these ingredient on very low heat for about 15 minutes. Make sure you stir occasionally, so it doesn’t burn. Next add the sunflower oil and keep stirring. Remove from heat and add the honey and coconut flavoring. Mix all the ingredients together and transfer the ingredients into one of your lip balm tubes. Now all you have to do is wait. It will take a few hours for the lip loss to set. Be patient. Should only be about two to three hours.

Lip Gloss Recipes for Vanilla Fanatics:

Things you will need:

• 1 Tbsp of grated beeswax
• 1/8 Tsp of vanilla extract
• 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil
• A few small drops of vanilla soy milk

Instructions: Heat all ingredients together in a small pot. Let them melt and then pour into your lip gloss container. Wait two to three hours and you are done.

This is a dilemma that has plagued humanity since the first time a caveman made a pass at a cavewoman. The caveman just wants to please. Unfortunately, he is a caveman.
