If you haven’t already, please take a moment to fill out the magazine’s first ever reader’s poll, which can be accessed here:

I really appreciate the comments so far!

As a reminder, this site looks awful in Internet Explorer, so I highly recommend using Firefox to view it if possible.

The next issue is the 2nd anniversary (already), so let’s make it a good one and keep up the submissions!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Winter issue is out!

It features the artwork of Mildred, Jim McHugh, the photography of Andrea Szegedy, and a bunch of delightful poetry and short stories, all of which I’m sure you will enjoy. I’ve also slightly changed the format of the artwork/photography pages and created the first ever reader’s poll, which can be accessed here:

Any input is really appreciated as the magazine continues to change throughout this year and the ones to come. And of course, any donations or advertising is appreciated as well. Please check out the About section if you are interested in advertising space, which is really inexpensive and will help fund the printed anthology I plan to publish!

And lastly, I just realized how awful this site looks in Internet Explorer, so I highly recommend using Firefox to view it if possible.

Thanks to all who contributed to this issue and who continue to submit work.

Have fun reading!

I’ve adjusted the publishing schedule to reflect this delay, moving January’s publishing date to January 15th instead of the first of the month.
I’ve posted the featured content schedule below, so please submit your work if you’re interested in being featured in the magazine.

Welcome to the 1 year anniversary issue of Debris Magazine!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a whole year since Debris debuted. The magazine has evolved somewhat from the first issue and will continue to be shaped by what is best for the readers and contributors of the content I’m proud to present each month.

Speaking of which, I want to thank the artists and photographers who agree to have their work promoted in this magazine monthly; one of my favorite aspects is being able to promote great talent. The literary contributors are just as appreciated, so keep those submissions coming!

If you’re a new reader, make sure you check out the archives and if you’re a previous visitor, thanks for coming back!

Hey all,

Debris is going to be celebrating its 1 year anniversary this July and I really want to make this a special issue.

I can still use poetry, short stories and reviews for this issue, so spread the word!

For submission info, visit the submissions page on the website: www. debrismagazine. com

I’m also considering throwing a small art/photography show event in Pittsburgh since that’s where Debris is based. If you’re a local and want to be notified if there is an event, please let me know.

Don’t forget to check out Katrijn Michiels’ photography and Jaleh Afshar’s artwork before June arrives and I have to replace it with the featured content for that month.

Thanks!

I wanted to let everyone know that May’s featured content is up and involves a lot of great talent! Katrijn Michiels is an up and coming photographer from Belgium and Jaleh Afshar is a very creative artist living in Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite living in opposite parts of the world, they share a creative spirit that I admire very much.

I also wanted to take the time to announce that I have eliminated the essay section, because it was not drawing nearly enough submissions to keep up with the magazine’s issues. I don’t regret losing this section, only because I know magazines constantly need to evolve to suit their audiences and so, I’d also like to welcome any suggestions at this time as well.

And lastly, those of you who submit work and who also rate Debris on Duotrope: I try to keep up with replying back to submissions, but keep in mind that I have two jobs, plus freelancing and at times, a life so I am not always able to reply back asap. Please be patient before badmouthing the magazine on Duotrope.

For those who submit work, please make sure you get a confirmation email from me so you know I’ve received your work. I can’t tell you how many times I have received withdrawal emails from people who I never knew submitted work, probably because their emails went directly to my spam/junk box. I apologize for that, but there’s only so many spam emails I can sort through before I want to start buying vitamins or helping out lost relatives desperately wanting to give me money.
