<p>I have a confession.</p>

<p>I don’t just <em>occasionally</em> browse Paris apartments… I fall into a full-blown spiral. One minute I’m “just checking a listing,” and the next I’m emotionally attached to a €3.5 million apartment I will absolutely never own.</p>

<p>And honestly? It’s not even about the money (okay… it is a little). It’s about <em>the feeling</em>. The light. The mouldings. The impossibly elegant doors that make your IKEA wardrobe feel like a personal attack.</p>

<p>So I went down the rabbit hole (again), and these are a few <strong>real listings in Paris</strong> that made me stop, stare… and fully romanticize a life that doesn’t belong to me.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-one-with-the-balcony-view-that-should-be-illegal">The One With the Balcony View That Should Be Illegal</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing-1200x800.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92228" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing-1200x800.webp 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing-302x201.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing-768x512.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-apartment-listing.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>There are views… and then there is <em>this</em>.</p>

<p>A long, narrow balcony overlooking classic Haussmann buildings, with the Eiffel Tower casually just… there, like it’s no big deal. (Excuse me??)</p>

<p>This is the kind of listing that makes you believe you’ll suddenly become the type of person who:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>drinks coffee slowly</li>

<li>reads books in French</li>

<li>and owns exactly one perfect trench coat</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="993" height="1280" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-kitchen-copy.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92239" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-kitchen-copy.webp 993w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-kitchen-copy-234x302.webp 234w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-kitchen-copy-768x990.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 993px) 100vw, 993px" /></figure>

<p>Paris real estate is full of “city views,” but let’s be honest — <strong>this is the fantasy we’re all buying into</strong>.</p>

<p>This 63 m² Paris apartment is currently for sale at €1,940,000 through <a href="https://www.magrey.com/">Magrey &amp; Sons</a>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-living-room-that-understands-proportions-better-than-i-ever-will">The Living Room That Understands Proportions Better Than I Ever Will</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2-1200x800.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92229" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2-1200x800.webp 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2-302x201.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2-768x512.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-2.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>Let’s talk about this room.</p>

<p>The symmetry. The mouldings. The soft sage walls. The light coming in like it’s been professionally directed.</p>

<p>And then — the parquet floors in that perfect herringbone pattern (which, by the way, every Paris apartment seems to have and somehow every other country struggles to replicate).</p>

<p>What I love most? It’s elegant but not intimidating. Like, yes, it’s refined — but you could still sit there in sweatpants and feel chic.</p>

<p>This 330 m² Paris apartment is currently for sale at €11,900,000€ through <a href="https://www.john-taylor.com/">John Taylor</a>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-effortlessly-cool-apartment-that-pretends-it-didn-t-try">The “Effortlessly Cool” Apartment That Pretends It Didn’t Try</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="801" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3-1200x801.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92230" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3-1200x801.webp 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3-302x202.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3-768x513.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3-1536x1026.webp 1536w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/parisian-listing-3.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>This is where Paris really wins.</p>

<p>Because it’s not always about historic perfection. Sometimes it’s:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>a slightly imperfect wooden floor</li>

<li>a marble fireplace that’s seen things</li>

<li>a mix of modern furniture that shouldn’t work but somehow does</li>
</ul>

<p>It’s curated, but in that <em>“I just threw this together”</em> way that definitely took weeks.</p>

<p>Also — can we talk about that mirror above the fireplace? Because Paris apartments have mastered the art of:<br>one statement piece instead of ten random decorations.</p>

<p>This 116 m² Paris apartment is currently for sale at €1,435,000€ through <a href="https://www.vaneau.fr/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vaneau</a>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-one-that-made-me-whisper-okay-this-is-not-fair">The One That Made Me Whisper “Okay This Is Not Fair”</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1066" height="799" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-apartment-listing-4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92231" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-apartment-listing-4.webp 1066w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-apartment-listing-4-302x226.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-apartment-listing-4-768x576.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1066px) 100vw, 1066px" /></figure>

<p>This one is almost too much.</p>

<p>White walls. Intricate mouldings. A sculptural chandelier. That fireplace. That floor.</p>

<p>And then — just to show off — they add modern art and a curvy sofa like it’s the easiest thing in the world.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="935" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy-1200x935.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92236" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy-1200x935.webp 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy-302x235.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy-768x599.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy-1536x1197.webp 1536w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-paris-apartment-listing-copy.webp 1642w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>This is the ultimate Paris formula:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>classic shell</li>

<li>contemporary furniture</li>

<li>zero visual stress</li>
</ul>

<p>And suddenly, everything looks intentional.</p>

<p>This 161 m² Paris apartment is currently for sale at €4,999,000 through <a href="https://belles-demeures-de-france.com/en/listing/france/sales/paris" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Belles demeures de France</a>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-so-why-are-paris-apartments-like-this">So… Why Are Paris Apartments Like This?</h2>

<p>After stalking more listings than I’d like to admit, here’s the truth:</p>

<p>Paris apartments aren’t magically perfect — they just follow a few very consistent rules:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Architecture comes first (the bones do the heavy lifting)</li>

<li>Neutral palettes that let the light do its thing</li>

<li>Restraint (they don’t overdecorate… ever)</li>

<li>A mix of old and new that somehow always works</li>
</ul>

<p>And that’s exactly why even a small apartment can feel like a movie set.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thoughts-aka-me-trying-to-emotionally-recover">Final Thoughts (aka me trying to emotionally recover)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-living-room-1000x1500.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92237" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-living-room-1000x1500.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-living-room-201x302.webp 201w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-living-room-768x1152.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/paris-living-room.webp 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>Scrolling through Paris listings is basically a lifestyle at this point.</p>

<p>It’s not just real estate — it’s:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>aspiration</li>

<li>design education</li>

<li>and a little bit of self-torture</li>
</ul>

<p>But also… inspiration.</p>

<p>Because the truth is, you don’t actually need a €2M apartment in Paris to get <em>that feeling</em>. You just need:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>better proportions</li>

<li>fewer things</li>

<li>and maybe… better doors (always better doors)</li>

<p>If your bedroom has been feeling a little… underwhelming lately, this might be the easiest upgrade you’ll ever make.</p>

<p>Because here’s the thing no one tells you:<br><strong>your sheets do <em>way</em> more heavy lifting than your headboard.</strong></p>

<p>And right now, this <strong><a href="https://go.skimresources.com?id=67012X1514572&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.brooklinen.com%2Fproducts%2Fclassic-core-sheet-set%3Fvariant%3D43171832004698%26from_fabric%3Dclassic-percale%23ReviewsWidget" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Classic Percale Core Sheet Set from Brooklinen is 25% off</a></strong> — which makes it a <em>very</em> good time to pay attention.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-why-these-sheets-instantly-elevate-a-bedroom">Why these sheets instantly elevate a bedroom</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="768" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-2.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92221" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-2.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-2-302x302.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-2-148x148.webp 148w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>First — the stripes.</p>

<p>They’re that perfect balance of:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>tailored</li>

<li>timeless</li>

<li>slightly European hotel energy</li>
</ul>

<p>The coral-toned stripe adds warmth without overwhelming the space, which is exactly why it works in both minimal and layered bedrooms.</p>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Translation: your bed looks styled even when you did nothing.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-feel-aka-why-you-ll-keep-loving-them">The feel (aka why you’ll keep loving them)</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="768" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92222" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-4.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-4-302x302.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-4-148x148.webp 148w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>These are <strong>percale</strong>, which means:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>crisp, not silky</li>

<li>breathable (great for warm sleepers)</li>

<li>that fresh, hotel-bed feel every night</li>
</ul>

<p>If you’ve ever climbed into a really good hotel bed and thought <em>“why doesn’t mine feel like this?”</em> — this is why.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-yes-the-price-matters">And yes, the price matters</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="768" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-3.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92223" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-3.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-3-302x302.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/bedroom-with-striped-sheets-3-148x148.webp 148w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>With the <strong>25% discount</strong>, the set drops to around:</p>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <strong>$134 instead of ~$179</strong></p>

<p>Which is that sweet spot of:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>not cheap</li>

<li>but absolutely worth it for everyday luxury</li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-who-these-are-perfect-for">Who these are perfect for</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-styling-trick-that-makes-this-work">The styling trick that makes this work</h3>

<p>The reason these sheets look so good in styled bedrooms?</p>

<p>Think:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>a striped bench cushion</li>

<li>a coordinating pillow</li>

<li>layered neutrals</li>
</ul>

<p>It creates that “designer finished” look without trying too hard.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1440" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-1.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92199" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-1.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-1-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-1-768x1024.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>There’s a quiet lie behind most Pinterest kitchens:</p>

<p><strong>They’re not built for real life.</strong></p>

<p>They’re built for photos.<br>For clean countertops that never get messy.<br>For people who somehow don’t walk into the house carrying five grocery bags, their keys, and mild frustration.</p>

<p>But real kitchens?</p>

<p>They’re fast. They’re messy. They’re repetitive.<br>And if you design yours like a photoshoot, it will start annoying you within a week.</p>

<p>So before you copy another “perfect” kitchen—</p>

<p> <strong>you need to design around your actual daily routine.</strong></p>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Image: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/carlasofiemolge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Carla Sofie Molge</a></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-before-you-design-anything-write-your-real-kitchen-life">Before You Design Anything: Write Your Real Kitchen Life</h2>

<p>This sounds simple, but almost no one does it.</p>

<p>Sit down and actually think:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>What do you do when you walk into the kitchen with groceries?</li>

<li>What do you grab first in the morning?</li>

<li>Where do things pile up?</li>

<li>What do you use every single day?</li>
</ul>

<p>Because here’s the truth:</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p><strong>A good kitchen is just a series of small, effortless movements.</strong></p>
</blockquote>

<p>And your goal?</p>

<p> <strong>Make those movements as short and easy as possible.</strong></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-grocery-flow-no-one-designs-and-everyone-needs">The Grocery Flow No One Designs (And Everyone Needs)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="736" height="1031" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-2.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92201" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-2.webp 736w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-2-216x302.webp 216w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></figure>

<p>Let’s start with something very real:</p>

<p>You walk in, hands full of bags.</p>

<p>Now what?</p>

<p>In most Pinterest kitchens, there is <strong>no obvious place to land</strong>.<br>So everything ends up on the island… and stays there.</p>

<p><strong>What actually works:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Place your <strong>fridge and pantry close together</strong></li>

<li>Ideally at the <strong>entrance of the kitchen</strong></li>

<li>And directly in front (or very close)?<br>   a <strong>counter or table</strong></li>
</ul>

<p>So you can:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>drop the bags immediately</li>

<li>unpack without walking back and forth</li>

<li>place things directly where they belong</li>
</ul>

<p>It sounds small. It’s not.<br>This is daily friction vs daily ease.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-triangle-is-fine-but-your-life-is-more-complicated">The Triangle Is Fine—But Your Life Is More Complicated</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="832" height="1248" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92204" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-4.webp 832w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-4-201x302.webp 201w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-4-768x1152.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 832px) 100vw, 832px" /></figure>

<p>Yes, the classic work triangle (sink–stove–fridge) matters.</p>

<p>But real life doesn’t happen in perfect triangles.</p>

<p>Example:</p>

<p>  <strong>Vegetables should live near the sink</strong></p>

<p>Because in reality:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>you take them out</li>

<li>you wash them</li>

<li>you prep them</li>
</ul>

<p>If they’re far away?<br>You’re just adding unnecessary steps to something you do every day.</p>

<p>A good kitchen follows your habits—not just design rules.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-storage-should-be-designed-around-what-you-actually-buy">Storage Should Be Designed Around What You Actually Buy</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-5-1000x1500.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92205" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-5-1000x1500.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-5-201x302.webp 201w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-5-768x1152.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-5.webp 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>This is where most kitchens completely fail.</p>

<p>They’re designed for “average use.”<br>But your life is not average.</p>

<p>Let’s be honest:</p>

<p> In Greece, many people buy a <strong>5-liter+ tin of olive oil</strong></p>

<p>And yet—almost no kitchen plans for it.</p>

<p>So what happens?</p>

<p> <strong>It ends up under the sink. Next to the pipes. And the cleaning products.</strong></p>

<p>Which is:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>not hygienic</li>

<li>awkward to access</li>

<li>easy to spill</li>

<li>and honestly… just wrong</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>What actually works:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Give heavy, everyday items their <strong>own proper space</strong></li>

<li>Low cabinet (but not under the sink)</li>

<li>Easy access</li>

<li>Close to where you actually use it</li>
</ul>

<p>And more importantly:</p>

<p> <strong>Design shelves based on real product sizes</strong></p>

<p>Not Pinterest jars.<br>Not styled containers.<br>Your actual groceries.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-hidden-appliance-cabinet-the-only-way-to-have-a-clean-kitchen">The Hidden Appliance Cabinet (The Only Way to Have a “Clean” Kitchen)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="800" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-3.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92202" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-3.webp 600w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-3-227x302.webp 227w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Image: <a href="https://leicht.com/ru/kitchens/bossa-kera-madero/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LEICHT</a></p>

<p>Yes, it’s beautiful when appliances don’t show.</p>

<p>But hiding everything completely?</p>

<p>That’s where frustration begins.</p>

<p>Because in real life, you use the same things every day:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>coffee machine</li>

<li>kettle</li>

<li>toaster</li>

<li>maybe an air fryer you’re currently obsessed with</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>What actually works:</strong></p>

<p>  A <strong>hidden appliance cabinet</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Slightly higher than the counter</li>

<li>Easy to open</li>

<li>Holds daily-use appliances</li>
</ul>

<p>So:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>visually → clean</li>

<li>practically → effortless</li>
</ul>

<p>This is how you get the Pinterest look <em>without the Pinterest inconvenience</em>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-open-shelves-not-just-for-pinterest-if-you-use-them-right">Open Shelves: Not Just for Pinterest (If You Use Them Right)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="820" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-7-820x1500.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92207" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-7-820x1500.webp 820w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-7-165x302.webp 165w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-7-768x1404.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-7.webp 840w" sizes="(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>

<p>There’s a lot of “open shelves are useless” talk lately.</p>

<p>I don’t fully agree.</p>

<p>Because when done right, they’re incredibly practical.</p>

<p>Example:</p>

<p> Open shelves above the sink (ideally near the window)</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>perfect for <strong>daily plates and glasses</strong></li>

<li>easy to grab</li>

<li>actually reduce movement</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>The rule:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>only things you use every day</li>

<li>a few decorative pieces</li>

<li>no overcrowding</li>
</ul>

<p>So yes—open shelves work.<br>Just not as your entire storage system.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-drop-zone-problem-why-your-kitchen-always-gets-messy">The “Drop Zone” Problem (Why Your Kitchen Always Gets Messy)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="635" height="1383" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-8.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92208" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-8.webp 635w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/kitchen-design-tips-8-139x302.webp 139w" sizes="(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px" /></figure>

<p>Every kitchen needs a place where things can land <em>temporarily</em>.</p>

<p>Keys. Notes. Random items.</p>

<p>If you don’t design this intentionally?</p>

<p>  Your island becomes a permanent mess.</p>

<p><strong>What actually works:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>a small dedicated surface</li>

<li>a tray or defined area</li>

<li>a space that can “absorb” chaos</li>
</ul>

<p>Because mess isn’t the problem.<br><strong>Unplanned mess is.</strong></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-design-for-fewer-steps-this-is-the-real-secret">Design for Fewer Steps (This Is the Real Secret)</h2>

<p>This is the mindset shift that changes everything:</p>

<p>  <strong>Your kitchen should minimize movement.</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>fridge → counter → minimal steps</li>

<li>storage → sink → direct</li>

<li>prep → cooking → smooth</li>
</ul>

<p>If you find yourself:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>walking back and forth</li>

<li>turning constantly</li>

<li>reaching awkwardly</li>
</ul>

<p>Something is off.</p>

<p>A well-designed kitchen feels… easy.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-real-difference">The Real Difference</h2>

<p>Pinterest kitchens ask:</p>

<p><em>  “How does it look?”</em></p>

<p>Real kitchens ask:</p>

<p> <em>“How do I move through this space every day?”</em></p>

<p>And once you start designing from that question—</p>

<p>You stop copying.</p>

<p>You start building something that actually works.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thought">Final Thought</h2>

<p>What Banda has created here is an elegant expression of <em>proportion, palette, and materiality</em>—and yes, I know those are words designers love to throw around, but in this case, they actually <em>mean</em> something.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92178" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-7.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>From the moment you step into the entrance hall, there’s a sense that everything is exactly where it should be. The chequerboard stone flooring sets the tone immediately—classic, graphic, but softened by the warm, creamy palette of the walls and architectural detailing.</p>

<p>And then there’s the scale. The <a href="https://decoholic.org/statement-ceilings/">ceiling</a> heights, the generous doorways, the way each room flows into the next—it all feels balanced without being overly formal. Banda understands that proportion isn’t just about measurements; it’s about how a space <em>feels</em> when you move through it.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-a-palette-that-knows-how-to-chill">A Palette That Knows How to Chill</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92179" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-8.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>If you’re expecting bold color moments, this isn’t that house—and that’s exactly the point.</p>

<p>The palette leans into soft neutrals: warm ivories, muted olives, deep browns, and layered stone tones. It’s tonal, yes, but far from boring. The living room, in particular, is a standout example of how to do “quiet” without losing depth.</p>

<p>That curved olive sofa? Sculptural but inviting.<br>The marble coffee table? Heavy in the best way.<br>The rug? Textural and grounding without stealing the spotlight.</p>

<p>It’s all about subtle contrast—nothing competes, but everything contributes.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-living-room-soft-geometry-meets-sculptural-drama">The Living Room: Soft Geometry Meets Sculptural Drama</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92173" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-2.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>Let’s just take a second for the living room because…it’s really doing something.</p>

<p>The curved seating arrangement creates this intimate, almost conversational layout that feels incredibly modern against the classic architectural envelope. And then you look up—there’s that oversized circular pendant, echoing the shapes below without being too literal.</p>

<p>It’s this push and pull between softness and structure that makes the room feel so layered. Even the marble fireplace, with its ornate detailing, doesn’t feel overly traditional—it’s grounded by the contemporary furniture choices around it.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-dining-room-drama-but-make-it-calm">Dining Room Drama (But Make It Calm)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92175" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-3.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>The dining room is where Banda really plays with contrast—and does it beautifully.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92174" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-4.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>A ten-seat wooden table sits confidently on a dark, textured rug, instantly anchoring the space. Around it, minimal chairs keep things light, while the sculptural chandelier above adds movement (and honestly, a little bit of attitude).</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92176" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-5.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>Then there’s the black piano and marble fireplace—two strong, grounding elements that could easily overpower the room, but instead create this quiet tension. It’s dramatic, yes, but in a very composed, grown-up way.</p>

<p>What makes this home feel <em>personal</em> (and not like a showroom) is the layering of elements:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Custom joinery that feels architectural, not decorative</li>

<li>Antique pieces that add history without heaviness</li>

<li>Sculptural furniture that doubles as art</li>

<li>Collected artworks that don’t feel overly curated</li>
</ul>

<p>Nothing feels random, but nothing feels too perfect either. It’s that elusive balance where a home feels designed <em>and</em> lived-in.</p>

<p>The principal bedroom continues the same language but softens it even further. There’s an ease here—a sense of retreat.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92180" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-9.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>And then you get to the marble moments (yes, plural), which are honestly some of the most striking features in the home. The bathroom, in particular, leans into full material immersion with marble surfaces that feel luxurious but not flashy.</p>

<p>Paired with warm wood floors and soft light filtering through the windows, it’s spa-like without being cold—a tricky balance that <a href="https://bandaproperty.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Banda</a> nails.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10-1200x1500.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-92181" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10-1200x1500.jpeg 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10-242x302.jpeg 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10-768x960.jpeg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10-1229x1536.jpeg 1229w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Kensington-Townhouse-in-London-10.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thoughts-why-this-works-so-well">Final Thoughts: Why This Works So Well</h2>

<p>This Kensington townhouse isn’t about trends or big “wow” moments. It’s about restraint, intention, and craftsmanship.</p>

<p>It’s a reminder that:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>You don’t need bold colors to create impact</li>

<li>You don’t need excess to create luxury</li>

<li>And you definitely don’t need to over-style a space when the bones (and materials) are this good</li>
</ul>

<p>It’s considered. It’s personal. It’s grounded in craft.</p>

<p>And honestly? It’s the kind of home that makes you want to edit your entire life—one beautifully proportioned room at a time.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="640" height="800" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-7.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92167" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-7.jpg 640w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-7-242x302.jpg 242w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<p>There’s this very specific version of <em>Parisian style</em> that the internet refuses to let go of. You know the one: gilded mirrors, ornate moldings, a marble fireplace, maybe a velvet sofa thrown in for good measure. It’s beautiful, yes—but also a little… frozen in time.</p>

<p>Because here’s the thing: <strong>modern Parisian interiors have quietly evolved</strong>, and if you’re still chasing the “perfectly classic” look, you might actually be missing the point entirely.</p>

<p>And once you see it, you <em>really</em> can’t unsee it.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-big-shift-it-s-no-longer-about-perfection">The Big Shift: It’s No Longer About Perfection</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1044" height="1200" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-9.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92159" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-9.jpg 1044w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-9-263x302.jpg 263w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-9-768x883.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1044px) 100vw, 1044px" /></figure>

<p>What’s happening now in Parisian homes (the <em>real</em> ones, not just Pinterest fantasy apartments) is a move toward something softer, quieter, and honestly—more interesting.</p>

<p>Think:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Less matching, more mixing</li>

<li>Less “styled,” more lived-in</li>

<li>Less ornate dominance, more contrast</li>
</ul>

<p>And most importantly: <strong>less trying so hard</strong></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-everyone-still-gets-wrong-about-parisian-style">What Everyone Still Gets Wrong About Parisian Style</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-mistake-thinking-it-s-all-about-classic-architecture">1. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: Thinking It’s All About Classic Architecture</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-it-s-about-what-you-do-with-it"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: It’s About What You Do <em>With</em> It</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="750" height="750" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92158" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-1.jpg 750w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-1-302x302.jpg 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-1-148x148.jpg 148w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure>

<p>Yes, the moldings are still there. The fireplaces are still stunning. But they’re no longer the whole story—they’re just the backdrop.</p>

<p>What’s changed is what gets layered on top.</p>

<p>Look at this:</p>

<p>Instead of leaning fully traditional, this room mixes:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>A <strong>sleek black sofa</strong></li>

<li>Relaxed, almost undone styling</li>

<li>Soft, textural layers (hello, sheepskin)</li>
</ul>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> The architecture is classic—but the vibe is <em>not precious</em></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-2-mistake-everything-has-to-match">2. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: Everything Has to Match</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-the-magic-is-in-the-mix"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: The Magic Is in the Mix</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="736" height="1313" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-4.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92160" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-4.jpg 736w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-4-169x302.jpg 169w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></figure>

<p>Modern Parisian interiors thrive on contrast—especially between eras.</p>

<p>Here’s what’s happening:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Ornate walls + <strong>mid-century icons (hello Eames lounge)</strong></li>

<li>Classic symmetry + <strong>casual layout</strong></li>

<li>Neutral palette + bold sculptural shapes</li>
</ul>

<p>This is the new formula: <strong>old bones + modern soul</strong></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-3-mistake-it-should-feel-polished">3. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: It Should Feel Polished</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-it-should-feel-effortless-even-if-it-s-not"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: It Should Feel Effortless (Even If It’s Not)</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="736" height="1299" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92168" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-2.jpg 736w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-2-171x302.jpg 171w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></figure>

<p>If a room looks too “done,” it immediately stops feeling Parisian.</p>

<p>Notice:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Books casually stacked (not styled within an inch of their life)</li>

<li>Objects that feel collected, not curated</li>

<li>Slight asymmetry everywhere</li>
</ul>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> The goal is that <em>“I just threw this together”</em> energy (even if it took months)</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-4-mistake-more-detail-more-parisian">4. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: More Detail = More Parisian</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-modern-parisian-style-is-getting-quieter"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: Modern Parisian Style Is Getting Quieter</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="736" height="1104" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-12.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92169" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-12.jpg 736w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-12-201x302.jpg 201w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></figure>

<p>This might be the biggest shift: restraint.</p>

<p>What you’re seeing:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Limited color palette (creams, whites, warm woods)</li>

<li>Fewer decorative objects</li>
</ul>

<p>It’s not about adding more—it’s about <strong>editing better</strong></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-mistake-it-has-to-feel-formal">5. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: It Has to Feel Formal</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-comfort-is-non-negotiable-now"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: Comfort Is Non-Negotiable Now</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="736" height="1030" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-6.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92163" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-6.jpg 736w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-6-216x302.jpg 216w" sizes="(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px" /></figure>

<p>Modern Parisian interiors are <em>way</em> more relaxed than they used to be.</p>

<p>Case in point:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The iconic <strong><a href="https://rstyle.me/+-vwebU4g5X57pAlgWTYq-Q" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mario Bellini Camaleonda sofa in rich brown velvet</a></strong></li>

<li>Casual posture (yes, even people lounging like this)</li>

<li>Warm tones instead of strict neutrals</li>
</ul>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> It’s chic—but you can actually <em>live</em> in it. <a href="https://decoholic.org/karolina-jezs-warm-parisian-inspired-apartment/"><strong>Take the full home tour.</strong></a></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-6-mistake-it-s-all-neutrals">6. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: It’s All Neutrals</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-it-s-neutrals-texture-warmth"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: It’s Neutrals + Texture + Warmth</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="841" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-841x1500.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92162" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-841x1500.jpg 841w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-169x302.jpg 169w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-768x1370.jpg 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-861x1536.jpg 861w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-5-scaled.jpg 1148w" sizes="(max-width: 841px) 100vw, 841px" /></figure>

<p>Parisian style isn’t about color—it’s about <strong>depth</strong></p>

<p>What creates interest here:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Marble + wood + fabric layering</li>

<li>Soft tonal shifts instead of bold color</li>

<li>Lighting that adds warmth (not drama)</li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-7-mistake-it-has-to-be-expensive">7. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/274c.png" alt="❌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Mistake: It Has to Be Expensive</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-reality-it-s-about-balance-not-budget"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2714.png" alt="✔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Reality: It’s About Balance, Not Budget</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1329" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-11.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-92161" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-11.jpg 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-11-245x302.jpg 245w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-Parisian-interior-11-768x945.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>Some of the most “Parisian” spaces mix high and low effortlessly.</p>

<p>Think:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Vintage chairs + simple table</li>

<li>Open shelving + personal objects</li>

<li>A slightly imperfect, human feel</li>
</ul>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> This is where it becomes <em>achievable</em></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-so-what-is-modern-parisian-style-now">So… What <em>Is</em> Modern Parisian Style Now?</h2>

<p>If we had to boil it down (because yes, we love a good formula), it’s this:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Start with classic architecture (or fake it—no judgment)</strong></li>

<li>Add <strong>one strong modern piece</strong></li>

<li>Layer in <strong>texture, not clutter</strong></li>

<li>Keep it <strong>a little undone</strong></li>

<li>And stop before it feels “finished”</li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-real-secret-no-one-talks-about">The Real Secret No One Talks About</h2>

<p>Modern Parisian interiors aren’t about copying a look.</p>

<p>They’re about creating a <strong>feeling</strong>:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>relaxed, but intentional</li>

<li>elegant, but not intimidating</li>

<li>styled, but never stiff</li>
</ul>

<p>And honestly? That’s why they work so well right now. They feel like an antidote to overly curated homes.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thought-because-this-is-important">Final Thought (Because This Is Important)</h2>

<p>If your space feels slightly imperfect, a little mismatched, and like it evolved over time instead of being installed in a weekend…</p>

<p>You’re probably doing it <em>right</em>.</p>

<p>Some homes are beautiful. Some homes are impressive. And then there are homes like <strong>Karolina Jez’s</strong>—the kind that quietly pulls you in, wraps you up in soft neutrals and velvet, and makes you think: <em>wait… why does this feel so good?</em></p>

<p>Because this isn’t just a styled space. It’s a <em>feeling</em>.</p>

<p>And honestly? That’s what makes it so special.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-a-home-designed-for-real-life-not-just-pretty-pictures">A Home Designed for Real Life (Not Just Pretty Pictures)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1350" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-2.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92145" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-2.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-2-242x302.webp 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-2-768x960.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>Karolina Jez—Montreal-based photographer and creative powerhouse working with brands like Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and L’Oréal—approached her home the same way she approaches her work: <strong>intentionally and emotionally.</strong></p>

<p>Together with designer <a href="https://www.instagram.com/gilliansegaldesign/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gillian Segal</a>, she created a space centered around something refreshingly simple:</p>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>People.</em></p>

<p>She wanted a home where:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>friends stay longer than planned</li>

<li>conversations flow easily</li>

<li>everything feels relaxed, not staged</li>
</ul>

<p>As she puts it, home isn’t about showpieces—it’s about creating spaces “where memories happen naturally.”</p>

<p>And you can feel that immediately.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-living-room-soft-sculptural-and-slightly-addictive">The Living Room: Soft, Sculptural, and Slightly Addictive</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="798" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92146" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior4.webp 1200w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior4-302x201.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior4-768x511.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>Let’s start with the heart of the home—because this room is doing <em>a lot</em>.</p>

<p>The standout elements:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>A <strong>Murano chandelier</strong> (the crown jewel moment)</li>

<li>A <strong><a href="https://rstyle.me/+pBlvw10Toe_0CFr2mMlSDA" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">vintage European marble fireplace</a></strong> adding instant history</li>

<li>And yes… the iconic <strong><a href="https://rstyle.me/+-vwebU4g5X57pAlgWTYq-Q" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Mario Bellini Camaleonda sofa in rich brown velvet</a></strong></li>
</ul>

<p>Karolina literally searched far and wide for that sofa—and once you see it, you get why.</p>

<p>It’s:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>plush</li>

<li>low</li>

<li>modular</li>

<li>and basically engineered for lounging</li>
</ul>

<p>She even jokes that guests “forget to leave,” which honestly feels like the ultimate design success metric.</p>

<p>What makes this room work so beautifully is the balance:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>ornate architectural mouldings vs. relaxed, puffy seating</li>

<li>vintage gravitas vs. modern lighting</li>

<li>symmetry vs. softness</li>
</ul>

<p>It’s classic—but loosened up.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-color-palette-warm-neutrals-that-actually-feel-warm">The Color Palette: Warm Neutrals That Actually Feel Warm</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1350" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-3.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92147" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-3.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-3-242x302.webp 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/modern-parisian-style-interior-3-768x960.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>This house lives in a <em>very specific</em> tonal world—and it’s doing it right.</p>

<p>We’re talking:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>creamy whites</li>

<li>soft beiges</li>

<li>honeyed wood tones</li>

<li>deep chocolate browns</li>

<li>layered marble + brass</li>
</ul>

<p>And instead of feeling flat, it feels rich because of texture:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>velvet</li>

<p>The kitchen, dining, and living spaces flow into one another—and this is where the home gets really smart.</p>

<p>Instead of walls, zones are defined by:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">

<p>If you’ve ever looked at a house and thought <em>“Something about this just feels right,”</em> there’s a good chance the balance of the space had something to do with it. And not in a vague, mystical way — but in a surprisingly practical one rooted in classical Feng Shui.</p>

<p>One of the oldest Feng Shui principles talks about the balance between two powerful symbolic forces: the <strong>Green Dragon</strong> and the <strong>White Tiger</strong>. These are two of the <strong>Four Celestial Animals</strong> (along with the Red Phoenix and the Black Tortoise) that describe how energy — or <em>Qi</em> — flows around a space.</p>

<p>And here’s the design takeaway that often surprises people:</p>

<p><strong>Ideally, the left side of your home should be slightly higher than the right.</strong></p>

<p>Let’s unpack why.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-meet-the-green-dragon-and-the-white-tiger">Meet the Green Dragon and the White Tiger</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/feng-shui-rules-1000x1500.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92132" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/feng-shui-rules-1000x1500.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/feng-shui-rules-201x302.webp 201w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/feng-shui-rules-768x1152.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/feng-shui-rules.webp 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>In classical Feng Shui, every building has an energetic orientation. When you stand inside your home and <strong>look toward the main entrance or outward toward the “face” of the building</strong>, the sides are defined like this:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Left side → Green Dragon</strong></li>

<li><strong>Right side → White Tiger</strong></li>
</ul>

<p>These two forces are meant to balance each other, but they are not equal in expression.</p>

<p>Think of it less like symmetry and more like choreography.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-green-dragon-left-side">The Green Dragon (Left Side)</h2>

<p>The <strong>Green Dragon</strong> represents dynamic, supportive energy.</p>

<p><strong>Energy:</strong> Yang (active, expansive, bright)<br><strong>Element:</strong> Wood<br><strong>Symbolism:</strong> Protection, wisdom, authority, good fortune</p>

<p>In practical terms, the Dragon side should feel <strong>stronger and slightly elevated</strong>. Traditionally, this could mean:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>A <strong>higher building</strong> or hill on the left side</li>

<li><strong>Taller trees</strong></li>

<li><strong>Slightly taller furniture</strong></li>

<li>Stronger architectural presence</li>
</ul>

<p>This elevated side symbolically acts as a <strong>protective arm</strong>, supporting the house and guiding beneficial energy toward it.</p>

<p>Think of it as the confident friend walking next to you — steady, protective, and slightly leading the way.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-white-tiger-right-side">The White Tiger (Right Side)</h2>

<p>The <strong>White Tiger</strong> represents quieter, more controlled energy.</p>

<p><strong>Energy:</strong> Yin (receptive, calm, passive)<br><strong>Element:</strong> Metal<br><strong>Symbolism:</strong> Physical strength, defense, instinct</p>

<p>The Tiger side should feel <strong>lower and calmer</strong> compared to the Dragon side.</p>

<p>In design terms this might mean:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Lower landscaping</li>

<li>Shorter furniture</li>

<li>Less visual “weight”</li>

<li>A quieter architectural expression</li>
</ul>

<p>If the Tiger side becomes <strong>too dominant — higher, louder, or more aggressive visually — classical Feng Shui warns that it can create imbalance</strong>, symbolically linked to conflict, tension, or instability.</p>

<p>Basically: the Tiger should guard the house, not compete with it.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-why-height-matters">Why Height Matters</h2>

<p>The height difference doesn’t need to be dramatic — and honestly, most modern homes won’t be designed with literal mountains on either side (tragically).</p>

<p>But the <strong>subtle hierarchy matters</strong>.</p>

<p>When the <strong>Dragon side is slightly higher</strong>, it creates what Feng Shui practitioners call the <strong>“Dragon’s Nest”</strong> — a supportive energetic formation that allows <em>Qi</em> to gather and flow harmoniously around the home.</p>

<p>In design language, it simply means the house feels <strong>balanced, supported, and calm</strong>.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-this-translates-to-real-interiors">How This Translates to Real Interiors</h2>

<p>Even if you can’t control the landscape outside your home, you can still apply this principle inside.</p>

<p>For example:</p>

<p>On the <strong>left side of the room (facing outward):</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Slightly <strong>taller furniture</strong></li>

<li>A <strong>floor lamp</strong></li>

<li>A <strong>taller plant</strong></li>

<li>Bookshelves or vertical elements</li>
</ul>

<p>On the <strong>right side:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Lower furniture</li>

<li>Simpler decor</li>

<li>More open space</li>
</ul>

<p>The goal isn’t perfection — it’s <strong>subtle balance</strong>.</p>

</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-big-picture">The Big Picture</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Simple-Feng-Shui-decor-example-1000x1500.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92134" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Simple-Feng-Shui-decor-example-1000x1500.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Simple-Feng-Shui-decor-example-201x302.webp 201w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Simple-Feng-Shui-decor-example-768x1152.webp 768w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Simple-Feng-Shui-decor-example.webp 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>At its core, Feng Shui isn’t about superstition. It’s about how <strong>humans intuitively respond to spatial balance</strong>.</p>

<p>When the left side (Dragon) offers support and the right side (Tiger) stays calm and grounded, the space tends to feel more stable and harmonious.</p>

<p>And honestly?<br>That’s the kind of energy every home could use.</p>

<p>Plantasia is not a house you simply move through — it’s one you <em>experience</em>. Designed by Yasmine Ghoniem of <a href="https://ysg.studio/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">YSG Studio</a>, this reimagined 1990s, vaguely colonial home on the NSW South Coast has been transformed into a lush, surreal diorama for a creative couple and their two children. Rooted in its coastal setting yet deliberately otherworldly, Plantasia is a masterclass in eccentric interiors that blur the line between fantasy and everyday life.</p>

<p>Each room unfolds like a <em>choose-your-own-adventure</em>, where colour, pattern, and materiality lure you forward, making the familiar feel slightly strange — and far more exciting.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-living-room">The Living Room</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1333" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-2.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92110" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-2.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-2-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-2-768x1024.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>The living room introduces the house’s eccentric interiors with confidence. Immersive, nature-driven wallpaper wraps the space, while striped ceilings create a subtle visual dissonance overhead. Seating upholstered in washed linen and leather sits atop cushioned cork floors, delivering unexpected softness underfoot. Jarrah timber elements anchor the room architecturally, while brass accents glint throughout, adding warmth and polish. The result is enveloping and theatrical — a living room that feels more like a curated scene than a neutral backdrop.</p>

<p>In the dining room, eccentric interiors take on a more personal, collected expression. A salon-style hang of eclectic artworks and objects spreads across boldly patterned walls, turning the room into a living archive of curiosities. Rattan chairs, timber furniture, and silk cotton textiles introduce tactility, while subtle brass details punctuate the space. It’s a room designed for lingering — where conversation, food, and visual discovery unfold simultaneously.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-kitchen">The Kitchen</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="923" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92112" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-4.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-4-302x279.webp 302w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-4-768x709.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>The kitchen dials the drama down but leans heavily into material richness. Jarrah cabinetry provides depth and warmth, paired with Rosso Asiago marble surfaces that feel both grounding and luxurious. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1333" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-5.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92113" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-5.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-5-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-5-768x1024.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>Onyx accents and brass hardware add a jewel-like quality, while tiled surfaces and glass mosaics reflect light throughout the day. Functional yet expressive, the kitchen quietly reinforces the house’s language of eccentric interiors through texture rather than excess.</p>

<p>This bedroom offers a more introspective take on eccentric interiors. Heavy washed-linen curtains frame the window, transforming the surrounding greenery into a living artwork. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1333" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-7.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92115" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-7.webp 1000w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-7-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/eccentric-house-interior-by-ysg-7-768x1024.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>The palette deepens into earthy greens and shadowed tones, creating a cocooning atmosphere. Layers of silk cotton, linen, and subtle leather absorb light and sound, while small brass touches maintain a sense of refinement. It’s a space designed for retreat — calm, moody, and deeply immersive.</p>

<p>Elsewhere, the eccentric interiors of Plantasia reach their most fantastical expression. Bathrooms are conceived as floating worlds, layered with zellige tiles, glass mosaics, onyx, and brass. The sherbet-yellow Rockwell bathtub, positioned beneath citrus-laden wallpaper, feels both playful and surreal — a defining moment in the home’s narrative.</p>

<p>Flora and fauna wallpapers climb walls and ceilings throughout, blurring the boundary between interior and landscape. Victoriana-inspired details — frilled lampshades, table skirts, and ornately carved joinery — introduce period drama, reimagined through bold colour and distorted scale. Every room feels distinct, yet unmistakably part of the same dream.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p>Defined by jarrah, cork, Rosso Asiago marble, onyx, brass, leather, wallpaper, zellige tiles, glass mosaics, washed linen, rattan, and silk cotton, Plantasia is a bold exploration of eccentric interiors done with intention. <a href="https://ysg.studio/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">YSG Studio</a> has created a home that resists neutrality, embraces imagination, and turns everyday living into an immersive, surreal experience — one that invites you to wander, pause, and look twice.</p>

<p>If there’s one thing <a href="https://www.instagram.com/camillecharriere/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Camille Charrière</a> proves effortlessly, it’s that fashion insiders often have an instinctive eye for interiors. Her London apartment—a light-filled home in Ladbroke Grove—feels like a natural extension of her personal style: elegant, relaxed, and quietly confident.</p>

<p>Parisian-born and London-based, Charrière is a writer, fashion insider, and broadcaster, and the co-founder and co-host of the <em>Fashion No Filter</em> podcast, which launched in 2020 and quickly became one of the most influential fashion podcasts of its generation. With over a million Instagram followers, Camille has built a loyal audience drawn to her classic French sensibility, sharpened by a distinctly British ease.</p>

<p>She moved into the apartment with her fiancé just before the UK’s first lockdown in 2020. High ceilings, original wood floorboards, and generous natural light provided the perfect foundation for a home that balances design pedigree with warmth and comfort.</p>

Originally designed in 1965, the chair is closely associated with Paulin’s redesign of the private apartments at the Élysée Palace in 1972.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="854" height="1138" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-2.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92095" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-2.webp 854w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-2-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-2-768x1023.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 854px) 100vw, 854px" /></figure>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Image: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/camillecharriere/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Camille Charrière</a></p>

<p>Despite the calibre of these pieces, the room never feels curated for effect. Built-in bookshelves overflow with books and objects collected over time, reinforcing Camille’s desire for a home that feels lived-in rather than styled.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p>“I don’t want my interior to feel like a showroom,” she says. “I want it to feel cosy and relaxed.”</p>
</blockquote>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-buying-with-intention-and-longevity-in-mind">Buying with Intention—and Longevity in Mind</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="854" height="1138" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-3.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92096" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-3.webp 854w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-3-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-3-768x1023.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 854px) 100vw, 854px" /></figure>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Image: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/camillecharriere/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Camille Charrière</a></p>

<p>Camille’s approach to interiors mirrors her philosophy on fashion: buy less, buy better, and think long-term.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p>“In my opinion, it’s worth buying things that you can resell. That’s why I stay away from the high street—I’d rather buy secondhand.”</p>
</blockquote>

<p>That mindset explains the eclectic mix of antique and vintage pieces throughout the apartment, blending French, English, and Danish influences without ever feeling forced. Each item feels chosen, not styled.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-kitchen-and-a-nine-month-marble-obsession">The Kitchen and a Nine-Month Marble Obsession</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="480" height="640" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-7.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92097" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-7.webp 480w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-7-227x302.webp 227w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></figure>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Image: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/camillecharriere/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Camille Charrière</a></p>

<p>In the kitchen, the undeniable focal point is the bespoke marble dining table, designed and made by Marble Partners, a London-based studio working exclusively with salvaged stone. The table’s striking patchwork of marbles was inspired by a stone floor installation by British artist Martin Creed, which Camille encountered at the Museo Jumex in Mexico City.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p>“With marble like this, you really have to see it in the flesh to choose the right pieces,” she explains.</p>
</blockquote>

<p>The table replaced a temporary vintage wooden one sourced from Sunbury Antiques, and the process—from initial concept to installation—took <strong>nine months</strong>, beginning in February 2020 and finishing in November that same year. Camille was closely involved throughout, ensuring the final result felt entirely personal.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1335" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-6.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92098" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-6.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-6-244x302.webp 244w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Camille-Charrieres-home-6-768x949.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>Throughout the apartment, references to Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, and Florence Knoll are woven in effortlessly. Nothing feels overly precious; everything feels usable, comfortable, and real.</p>

<p>Recently, Camille sparked speculation about a potential move to Paris after sharing an Instagram post captioned <em>“YEARMAXXING 2026!!!!!”</em>, showing an empty Parisian apartment and celebrating a series of personal milestones—including buying their first flat and finally being able to say <em>“je suis parisienne.”</em> When a follower asked if she was moving back to Paris, her response was immediate and clear: <em>“not moving! London is my home.”</em></p>

<p>And looking at this apartment, it’s easy to see why. Camille Charrière’s London home isn’t about impressing—it’s about feeling good. Calm, characterful, and quietly confident, it’s a masterclass in creating a space that reflects who you are, not just what you love.</p>

<p>There are few things that make my heart beat faster than <strong>Paris in January</strong> and <a href="https://www.maison-objet.com/en/paris" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Maison &amp; Objet</strong> </a>in full swing. From January 15–19, 2026, the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center once again became the epicenter of global design—and honestly? This edition had <em>everything</em>.</p>

<p>Organic materials. Sculptural ceramics. Textile art you wanted to touch (and maybe hug). Experimental 3D‑printed objects. Maison &amp; Objet 2026 felt like a quiet but confident shift toward meaning, materiality, and reinterpretation rather than excess.</p>

<p>Here are the standout moments that truly stayed with me.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-designer-of-the-year-2026-harry-nuriev-amp-transformism">1. Designer of the Year 2026: Harry Nuriev &amp; <strong>TRANSFORMISM</strong></h2>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4cd.png" alt="📍" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>Hall 3 – Paris Nord Villepinte</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1350" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92079" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-242x302.webp 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-768x960.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>Maison &amp; Objet’s 2026 <strong>Designer of the Year</strong>, <strong>Harry Nuriev</strong>, from <a href="https://crosbystudios.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CROSBY STUDIOS</a> delivered not just an installation—but a manifesto.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1435" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-8.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92085" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-8.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-8-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-8-768x1020.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p><strong>TRANSFORMISM</strong> unfolded as an all‑silver, immersive environment where objects were stripped of context, hierarchy, and labels. Old and new dissolved completely. Heritage, innovation, and the everyday existed on the same plane, reframed through one powerful lens: <strong>perception</strong>.</p>

<p>Nuriev invites us to disengage from the exhausting need to define things as <em>timeless</em> or <em>trendy</em>. Here, each object exists simply as itself—free, equal, and open to reinterpretation.</p>

<p>Blending art, interiors, fashion, and spatial design, TRANSFORMISM explores how history can be revealed through a contemporary gaze. Discomfort becomes a catalyst. Transformation happens not through addition, but through <strong>reframing</strong>.</p>

<p>More than an installation, this was a statement—one that deeply resonates with designers shaping tomorrow’s interiors, hospitality spaces, and cultural environments through narrative, reuse, and radical simplicity.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-2-mohebban-milano-tactile-art-underfoot">2. Mohebban Milano: Tactile Art Underfoot</h2>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4cd.png" alt="📍" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>Hall 4 – Stands D44 &amp; E43</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1439" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-1.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92080" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-1.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-1-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-1-768x1023.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>If there was one moment where I physically stopped and stared, it was at <a href="https://www.mohebbanmilano.com/en/home-en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mohebban Milano</a>’s rugs.</p>

<p>The standout? The <strong><a href="https://fave.co/4r7xegY" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Tactile Gold Rug</a></strong> (USD 13,440).</p>

<p>This piece reinterprets visual art through texture, merging sight and touch into a fully immersive experience. Part of the <em>Tactile</em> capsule collection, it plays with layered tones, abstract forms, and material depth in a way that feels both grounded and elevated.</p>

<p>Crafted in India, the rug invites interaction—it’s not just something you look at, but something you <em>experience</em>. A true reminder that flooring can be art, not background.</p>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4ce.png" alt="📎" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>For the USA, the Tactile Gold Rug is available via <a href="https://fave.co/4r7xegY" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Artemest.</a></em></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-3-linda-ouhbi-ceramics-as-a-way-of-life">3. Linda Ouhbi: Ceramics as a Way of Life</h2>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4cd.png" alt="📍" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>Fine Craft Hall A5 – Booth G15</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1350" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-pbjet-2026-4.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92081" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-pbjet-2026-4.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-pbjet-2026-4-242x302.webp 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-pbjet-2026-4-768x960.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>The Fine Craft section delivered some of the most emotionally resonant work of the fair, and <a href="https://lindaouhbi.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Linda Ouhbi </a>stood out instantly.</p>

<p>Born in Casablanca in 1984 and now based in Paris, the Moroccan‑French ceramic artist approaches ceramics not as a discipline—but as a <strong>way of life</strong>. Each piece carries the imprint of time, touch, and material honesty.</p>

<p>Awarded the <strong>Visa Kyoto Prize in 2018</strong>, Ouhbi deepened her practice during a residency in Japan, later exhibiting at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and Oike Horikawa Gallery in Kyoto.</p>

<p>Her work feels quiet yet powerful—earthy forms, subtle glazes, and an intimacy that only hand‑crafted objects can convey. Pieces you don’t just style, but live with.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-4-omar-antwerp-arty-textiles-with-a-belgian-soul">4. Omar Antwerp: Arty Textiles with a Belgian Soul</h2>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4cd.png" alt="📍" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>Hall 4 – Stand E116–F115</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1080" height="1440" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-5.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92082" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-5.webp 1080w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-5-227x302.webp 227w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-2026-5-768x1024.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></figure>

<p>Bold, joyful, and unapologetically artistic—<a href="https://www.omar-antwerp.be/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Omar Antwerp</a>’s cushions and plaids brought color and character to the fair.</p>

<p>Made in Belgium, these textiles feel like functional artworks. Painterly patterns, rich palettes, and tactile finishes that instantly elevate a sofa, chair, or bed. Perfect proof that soft furnishings can completely transform a space without shouting.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-ukrainian-neo-folklore-the-love-floor-vase-by-maryna-pupcha">5. Ukrainian Neo‑Folklore: The Love Floor Vase by Maryna Pupcha</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="796" height="995" src="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-6.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-92083" srcset="https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-6.webp 796w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-6-242x302.webp 242w, https://decoholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/best-of-maison-et-objet-6-768x960.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /></figure>

<p>One of the most poetic moments of Maison &amp; Objet 2026 came from the <strong>Ukrainian Neo‑Folklore</strong> booth, curated by <a href="https://maino-design.com/gallery-sana-moreau/">Sana Moreau</a>.</p>

<p>The monumental <strong>Love Floor Vase</strong> by <strong>Maryna Pupcha</strong> stopped visitors in their tracks. Maryna who crafts rugs, textiles, and jewelry in a signature *ethno-boho-funk* style. Giant, plush, and sculptural, the piece blends traditional Ukrainian folk motifs—from <em>Kosiy ceramics</em> and <em>pysanky</em>—with contemporary forms.</p>

<p>Woven in bold colors onto wool rugs and shaped into a floor‑standing vase, it feels both ancient and radically modern. A celebration of identity, resilience, and craft—translated through scale and softness.</p>

<p>Available via <em><a href="https://maino-design.com/product/grand-decorative-floor-vase-love-kohannya/">Galerie Sana Moreau</a></em>, 1750 €<br> .</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thoughts">Final Thoughts</h2>

<p>Maison &amp; Objet 2026 felt thoughtful, tactile, and deeply human. Less about spectacle, more about substance. A fair that reminded us why we fell in love with design in the first place—not for trends, but for stories, materials, and meaning.</p>

<p>And Paris? Always the perfect backdrop.</p>
