So funny story about this card… my husband’s cousin got married a couple of week’s ago and the night before the wedding I made this card for them. I tailored it to their wedding colors… the whole nine yards. We drove 3 hours to Nebraska I had it with me in my book so I wouldn’t forget it. We get to the hotel, check in and as we are bringing things in I don’t notice that my husband brought my book into the room thinking I would want to read it before bed, very thoughtful. You see where this is going don’t you. The wedding was 30 minutes away from our hotel and when we got there I realized that my book wasn’t in the car. Oopsie! So my card that I made for them got mailed a couple of days after the wedding. I think they liked it anyway.

I kept the card pretty simple so the flowers would be the focal point. I’ve recorded a video on how to watercolor with Distress Markers… I just need to get it edited together for you.

Wow, this week has FLOWN by! But I have to say I am pretty good with that because as of today there are 7 days of school left… WOOHOO! Now, I’m use you all want me to get on with announcing our winner so I won’t make you wait! Our winner of the FABULOUS Ribbon Carousel Kit Subscription is… Sally! Congratulations Sally! Please email me at jenevey at gmail dot com and I’ll let you know how to claim your prize.

Now here is DS51!

And here is my take on it:

I’ve been on a HUGE clean and simple card kick the last few nights and this is another one to add to the bunch. For my card I decided to shrink the top panel of the sketch to fit the Prima flower I had on hand. The paper is from MME’s Lost and Found Breeze 6×6 pad. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and embossed with white embossing powder. I had a bit of trouble getting this to emboss evenly but it turned out okay. That white embossing powder wanted to stick to EVERYTHING, lol.

And now here is our first card from our brand new and FANTASTIC guest designer Judy Rozema.

Want your sketches a little early? Follow the Deconstructed Sketch on Facebook!! And if you are looking for some older sketches to dig through you can find them in the Deconstructed Sketchbook. Now it’s time to hop around and see what everyone else on the DT has been up to and leave them a little love.

I’ve been working on making a few thank you cards for a friend who needs quite a few of them. This set of two I made on Monday night. I’m trying to keep them pretty clean and simple so I can get them knocked out faster. I’m happy to say that this set only took about half an hour to make and most of that time was just figuring out the layout.

I was going to wait to post this until I had a card made with the image but I just can’t wait! Taylor has Distress Markers in her store over at Taylored Expressions! Well when she emailed me and told me that she was going to be getting them in I put in an order for the full set because we all know I love me some coloring mediums. So… they arrived just a couple of days ago but I had to wait to play with them. Today I found some watercolor paper and some time and got to work and here is what I came up with:

I stamped the large daisy from the Oops a Daisy stamp set on Canson 90# watercolor paper using Palette Hybrid ink in Noir. Then armed with a small waterbrush and my Distress Markers I started watercoloring. Here are the markers I used:

Flower Center: Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo
Petals: Weathered Wood, Pumice Stone, Dusty Concord (shadows)
Leaves: Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Dusty Concord (shadows)
Glow: Scattered Straw

I tend to like my watercolor to look a little watercolorish, lol so I don’t smooth it as much as I could. I’m going to work on getting a video tutorial together soon on coloring these flowers.

Who’s ready to shop?!? It’s release day!!

I’ve got two more samples to share with you today! One uses the super fun Father’s day digi and I have another cute little creation using All Aboard! Are you ready?

For this father’s day card I used the brand new Father’s Day digi and printed it out on Choice SnowWhite cardstock and I printed it a second time on designer paper so I could paper piece the tie. I die cut the image using a Spellbinder’s Label 4 die and to make the matte for the die cut I traced around the outside edge of the die and hand cut the matte. This was then sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and distressed. I then layered up a bunch of papers from this month’s Loyal Project Pantry Kit (I LOVE this kit… I’ve made 4 cards from it so far and I’ve got TONS of paper left for more!). I to finish it all up I added a bit of ribbon from the kit and a few buttons from my stash.

For my second card I created a side stairstep card using a tutorial I found on Splitcoaststampers. I used Simple Stories gorgeous Fabulous paper pad. I started everything out by stamping the train, girl conductor and crossing sign from the All Aboard stamp set. I colored the train, conductor and sign with Copics and cut them out. I used the Cloud Duo dies, Grass Border die and Train Track Die to add more to the scene. I propped the clouds and conductor up on foam tape to add dimension.

Lastly to make is just a bit more girly I used some Smooch Glitz on the pink parts of the scene.

Taylored Dies used on these cards:

That’s it for me today! I hope you have enjoyed this release! I LOVE it!!!

Who is ready for a new sketch? Me!!!

This week we have a FABULOUS sponsor to share with you as well. Ribbon Carousel is very generously offering one very lucky participant a full year subscription to the Ribbon Club Kit! How awesome is that??!!??

So here’s your sketch:

And here’s my take on the sketch:

For this card I started with a A2 Kraft cardbase layered with a slightly smaller piece of kraft cardstock sponged with Vintage Photo ink and with this month’s Ribbon Club Kit from Ribbon Carousel and cut the dark blue ribbon from the kit into strips. I cut the ends of the strips on the diagonal and glued the ribbon down also on the diagonal. I used Aleene’s No Sew glue to glue the ribbon to the card. Over that I layered a piece of kraft colored ribbon from the kit along with the sentiment from Verve’s Forever In Our Hearts stamp set and die cut it with the Tagged Rectangle Die. I distressed all the cardstock with a Tonic Distress Tool and then added a few Prima Flowers and MS Rose Leaves. The final touch were a few pearls in the corner colored with a Copic marker.

Want your sketches a little early? Follow the Deconstructed Sketch on Facebook!!
It’s day three of previews over at Taylored Expressions and I’m so so so stoked about the stamp set we are previewing today. It’s so cute with great sentiments… and REALLY fun to stamp with.

For my sample today I started with Choice Snow White cardstock and inked the flowers with Scattered Straw, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress Markers. On one flower I spritzed the inked stamp with water lightly to give it a bit of texture. After stamping the flowers I die cut them with the matching dies and then did the same with the leaves. Using another piece of Choice Buttercream die cut with Taylor’s Frame It Up 1 die I stamped the flower stems and a couple more leaves using Memento Bamboo Leaves. I stamped the sementiment on Choice Buttercream using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then sponged all the edges of the cardstock and designer papers with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The designer papers are from Cosmo Crickets Baby Jane paper line and are sanded a bit on the edges to give them a bit of a distressed feel. To finish the card I layered everything together propping the flowers on foam tape to create dimmension, die cut the sentiment with the Fly Your Flag 2 die and added a bit of May Arts twine thread and a button.
