Day Three Hundred Twelve

312/365. And then the aliens showed up — experience the abduction

There I was minding my own business strolling around in my cart, and then all the sudden, wouldn't you know it. Aliens!!?

I know, right!?!!

Anyhow, it was a lazy Sunday, as all Sundays should be.

On the book front, I may end up going with Peach Pit Press. I am, nevertheless, still putting together a decent TOC that makes enough sense. My hope is to bring in some old content and introduce some new unseen content exclusively for the book.

And of course, for the here and now — here's the stuff you're looking for.

Day Three Hundred Eleven

311/365. I am Michael — Meet Mr. Leggett

Today we had a pregnancy photoshoot (what do you call those?), and this was the Dad, a good 'ol friend from Google, Michael. We took a lot of great shots, but those are being delivered to them :)

strobist: just a simple one light setup, umbrella camera right. This is a look I will never grow tired from.

G'nite.

Day Three Hundred Four

304/365. I'm a School Girl — Happy Halloween

This is, without a doubt, Erin, looking extremely hot and sexy in her Halloween costume.

Unfortunately ,between getting a trick, or a treat... it looks like you'll be getting tricked into not getting strobist info tonight — even thought the big mama softbox came thru with a second performance.

And since it's nearing on 2AM, it's time to hit the sack. See ya tomorrow.

Day Three Hundred Two

302/365. Resting. In Peace. — Come relax

So you thought I had left. Wrong. I was just resting. And awaiting that big, beatiful, Mama. Yep. 50 inches of big, gimassive light.

Yeah. It arrived this afternoon.

Yeah.

I was able to rush out to the Bay by 6:30 and managed to put together this shot in roughly 5 minutes before all hope was lost and my pink sky vanished.

Anyhow, be sure to check out the info on this shot - it makes me laugh everytime I look at it because the softbox is bigger than me!

setup, camera, strobist info: see here

Day Two Hundred Ninety Nine

299/365. A Missionary's Chair — have a seat

So... tonight I was kinda sorta more focused on something else than seeking a good shot. It was a setup/shoot/ and run kinda thing. Wasn't totally feelin' it... but think this setup for those seeking info.

Lastly, look forward to some "big light" coming within the next few days / weeks. A 50 inch softbox is on its way :)

Day Two Hundred Ninety Seven

297/365. cold shoulders, warm hands — well worth the larger view

I casually asked Erin if I could photograph her tonight... she told me to get things all setup, and then text her when I was ready. I finished the lights, pinged her, and she showed up in this outfit.

Awesome.

Anyhow, there's two others I wanted to post because there was literally no going wrong and it felt like every picture was a winner.

be sure to see both of them.

And of course, most importantly...

I'm nearing three hundred days of this stuff... it's.... getting tiring.... but pictures still come about.

Good news, FlashBullet has landed a wedding at the Orava Castle in Slovakia next year! How awesome is that.

Other than that... it's time to sack.
Day Two Hundred Ninety Three

293/365. Hero of Darkness — join the evening

I brought my camera to work this morning in hopes to catch some nice downtownish shots. It was too foggy. So I waited until after work and let what the D3 does best.

Regarding this shot, believe it or not, only took about 5 takes.

However the best part is that you're usually not allowed to do commercial photography in this area, yet I was able to get the security guard to take my setup shot!

Kay. Let's do this...

setup, camera, strobist info: see here

292/365. change we can believe in — or something to that nature

I tried to beat the sunset this evening, and just barely nabbed it back out with the D3.

Anyhow, I tried to do a little spin with the change meter, putting an Obama twist on it, ironically next to a bank. Yeah, it's a stretch, especially since it has no real meaning....

... so let's just move to the good stuff.

setup, camera, strobist info: see here

Day Two Hundred Ninety One

291/365. I will destroy you — and really, who's going to argue with that? ( << view large! )

There was a few things that made tonight feel right, and this photo was part of it. It's beginning to get dark out earlier, and I've had too long of a rest from the city (with a camera). Erin and I didn't travel far, but it we got the job done.

Alright now. let's do this lighting thing....

setup, camera, strobist info: see here

and for the sake of submitting this to strobist pool:
2 lights. one SB @ 1/16 camera left. one SB @ 1/128 camera right ;)

After this, I need to get back outside and do some 'ol fashion street photography.

strobist info: you've seen all too many like this — figure it out ;)

Day Two Hundred Eighty Seven

287/365. Salvation — is life by choice

I have been severely "out of it" these last few days. By the time I get home I have enough energy to chat with my wife, eat dinner, then burning desires to crash overcome me.

Not this time.

It's nearing 2am which tells me I've made it back to my old schedule.

Anyhow, this is me. Don't get it confused with that Megadeth album ;) That Hundred Pushups iPhone app is really taking its toll so I'm making sure I get this documented right.

On the topic of lighting, this is, I believe, my first "evenly lit" photo of the project, using two equally spaced umbrellas. Needless to say, the lighting was the easiest part.... aside from maybe holding my breath... (nah, the lighting was easier)

Off topic, if you have a blog/website, and you're on Twitter, we just launched our brand new Favorites Widget! If you decide to use it, drop me a tweet, I'd love to check out where people are using it.

And finally, back to the diagrams....

I learned how to make a Sidecar yesterday. Hence, yesterday. Made myself (and Erin) two of them.... snapped a quick shot of one of them before I slowly lost all inhibition.

On another note, I was told that days 200 - 300 were going to be the hardest. Not only that, after the vacation I still haven't quite developed my routine again. But it's all good, I'll get to the end in no time at all and will have to pick up a new habit.
Day Two Hundred Seventy Nine
This is Link, The Hero of Time, whom remains one of my all-time fantasy heroes. Over time, I've found many similarities between myself, and this fictional character. Thus the reason my profile avatar has remained unchanged for the last seven years. But for time reasons, I won't go into detail on that stuffs now.

Anyhow, still a day behind and basically need to do another shot tonight before falling asleep (still jet laggin').

and now for lighting geeks...
Day Two Hundred Seventy Eight

278/365. Lucidity — yet irrational

Still getting back on track while overcoming jet lag. I was up near 6am this morning with nothing to do and fell asleep last night before getting a chance do something.

Anyhow, this is another shot inspired by Soon Magazine, a fashion magazine we picked up in Paris. And thanks to the 100 pushups iPhone app, I can decently look the part. Not to mention perhaps one day after having kids, they can know that their Dad wasn't always just skin and bones.

Alright, see y'all tonight with another.
Day Two Hundred Seventy Seven

277/365. This is my skateboard — take off your wheels

So, I returned from vacation last night and had no real access to the internet for the last ten days. Thus, I have a backlog of photos, but I wanted to make sure I got right back and track and got up a photo for today. I may never get to posting them, but rest-assured it's time to get back to our regular schedule :)

On another note, I've been quite inspired by the fashion magazines, ads, and general culture of Paris that I've been wanting to experiment a bit more in our studio — thus, this photo of me and my skateboard (deck) that Erin gave me for my birthday last June.

On a final note, I wanted to give a big thanks to my European Twitter followers that sent tons of @replies while we toured Amsterdam, Brussells, Paris, and London — you guys were awesome with the recommendations of places to visit as we went to many of them :)

And alas... the good stuffs...

I must note, since for the record, this photo is not for sale and is not allowed to be sold — but it can be enjoyed right here :)

On another more important note, this day marks 100 days left of the 365.

Apologies in advance I haven't put up photos for the last few days — and most of these are all natural light.... this is, however, supposed to be a vacation. And I'm takin' it.

Cheers
