United States started building universities to cater for educational purposes since the 17th Century. Many universities were built since then across the United States. As the population of the United States started rising and its people got wealthier more and more money was spent on good quality higher education. Especially since the 18th Century this trend saw a rise and as the number of universities grew all over America so did the need for good quality libraries cater to the students that studied in these universities.

These university libraries were built on university campuses with the help of donations in the form of money and books that these universities received to expand their university libraries.

Today there are thousands of universities in the Unites States with great libraries that support students and help them learn and educate themselves on a variety of different subjects. These libraries help students to do research, build new ideas and in general expand knowledge. There are obviously some university libraries that are much better than others in the country today. They have better information, better books, they are well equipped with all the latest knowledge and they help the students and professors alike to gain the knowledge in their respective fields much better than others.

The libraries in the U.S can be categorized into public libraries, research libraries and academic libraries. Of these academic libraries some are libraries that are attached to an academic institution. In the United States there are some Universities that have world class libraries on their campuses.

Nine out of ten children in the UK attend state schools which are funded by the government. All state schools are required to follow the National Curriculum.

Education departments in England, Scotland and Wales fund schools through a Local Education Authority. In Northern Ireland, schools are largely financed by public funds from five Education and Library Boards.

The differences in comparison to the US education system are extensive. The main differences come in terms; the terminology used to describe grade years and the methods of assessment of pupils and students. Before studying for a degree, students in the UK must gain GCSE’s and A-Levels where as in the US students must gain a diploma.

Students from the UK can move to the US to study a degree provided they have A-Levels, and are able to pass an American SAT test to be accepted into American universities. Fees for universities in the US can be extremely expensive, costing upwards of $30,000 which is equivalent to £19000.

There are four stages to the education system in the UK

#1. Primary School

Children attend here from the age of four until 11. These schools are usually mixed gender but some schools do have a religion based intake.

#2. Secondary School

Pupils transfer to secondary schools once they have finished primary school at the age of 11. Most secondary schools in England are comprehensive and do not operate a selective entrance system.

However, in some parts of England, a grammar school system also operates and pupils are usually required to pass an entrance examination based on their ability.

When a child reaches Year 9 (aged 13-14) during secondary school, they are required to choose which subjects they wish to study over the next two years until Year 11 (aged 15-16) for their GCSE exams. Maths, Science, English, PE and a foreign language such as French, plus many other subjects can be studied at GCSE Level.

#3. Further Education

This is for children between the age of 16 and 19 who wish to gain further qualifications after secondary school. Students usually study between three and four subjects for their A-Level exams. Subjects can include; English, Psychology, Physical Education and Media Studies plus many more.

Legislation passed in 2011 meant all young people are required to continue with some kind of education or training until 18. Young people aged 16 or 17 may be employed if they enter apprenticeship.

#4. Higher Education

This is for those pupils who wish to gain a degree or diploma in a specific subject area which they go on to study at university.

In the UK there are also private schools, which parents have to pay expensive fee’s to send their children to. Famous private school, Eton, currently charges £10,689 per term. There are three terms in a year. These schools have their own individual entrance criteria, with many having tough entrance exams in order to maintain high standards.

Teachers at private schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum, although many do, and the majority of students take GCSEs and A-Levels

The education system of the United States is very different to that in the UK

#1. Primary School

US children enter the schooling system at age five. The first year at school is called Kindergarten. It is required of all American children enrolled in the American education system. The second year at school is considered the first year of primary school and is referred to as first grade.

#2. Secondary School

Upon completion of fifth grade (the last year of primary school at age 10-11), American children then advance to secondary school.

Secondary school most commonly consists of a total of seven years, referred to as sixth through twelfth grades. The ninth, through twelfth grades, are most commonly referred to as high school.

Upon completion of twelfth grade (aged 17-18), American students are awarded a certificate called the high school diploma. In the American education system, students must obtain a high school diploma before they are admitted into college or university.

#3. Undergraduate school

Students who have completed high school and would like to attend college or university must attend what is referred to as an undergraduate school.

These are schools that offer either a two-year degree (called an associate degree) or a four-year degree (called a bachelor degree) in a specific area of study.

That area of study is called the major. All students who are studying for a four year degree are required to select (or declare) a major by their second year at school. Students who complete an associate degree can continue their education at a four-year school and eventually complete a bachelor degree.

#4. Graduate school

Students who have obtained a bachelors degree can continue their education by pursuing one of two types of degrees.

The first is a master’s degree. This is usually a two-year degree that is highly specialized in a specific field.

As you can see the differences between the two systems are evident. Although not complex the differences must be noted for those students who do wish to go and study in the US or vice versa.

Last year same time I published an article written by Robert Williams who is actually a guest author and contributed a well written piece of information entitled Distance Learning – Road to Riches solving student’s challenges where they finds it difficult to know what is right and what is wrong if they are going to choose the distance learning or direct learning mode of education for their future studies.

And now on readers demand I took the same article for further discussion and inside this post I would like to target :-

Working Professionals

Business Person

Housewife

Physically Disabled

Financially Weak

Or anyone else who wants to continue their studies for continuous growth from their current position in the company or the society due to having advanced and updated knowledge about a particular subject in which he or she enrolled.

How to Continue YOUR Studies while Working ?

As written by Robert in his article that it’s not the time where people were bound to study only inside the traditional classrooms, so what is that is actually changed now in terms of continuing studies side by side doing your day job or business ?

Interest of reading <del>books</del> ebooks -

If we are discussing about distance education online we should have some interest alive of reading the ebooks and notes given by the institution from where you are continuing your studies and likely to become a good student by showing progress in your examination reports.

You don’t have to create interest, yes because you already have interest of reading book but now the technology is involved and you have to read your books in electronic format and that would be really a good thing though because now you can read your study material very easily anywhere just by having the high end gadgets like smart phone, tablet, netbook or the notebook PC.

Also read our review of Amazon Kindle Fire (best ‘ebook reader’ created ever).

Writing practices for facing examinations -

Mainly in subjective examinations you need to have some writing practices because you might have came back with a long gap of writing longer matters on paper due to the technology and gadget we are almost leaving the pen and text books away from our life but being an student you have to face them again and that’s why for giving your best answers out on the paper you should start writing practices from the day one after joining the course.

An institution with reputation -

We always like to look for the most reputed institution for getting our degree from the regular mode of education on campus, in the same way you should always be very class="GRcorrect">distance learning mode of education while working even if you have to pay a very low amount as academic fee.

Because your degree matters, and if you are continuing your distance education from an unknown institution then again the company can ask that which college or community is this from where you got your degree – we never heard about it. And then you will find that your degree and education is now of no use and all the time and efforts gone waste so please consider checking list of top 5 distance education university in India.

You should also visit the institution’s official website to see the registration and affiliation details and most important that is approved by distance education council or not before asking for the registration form.

Minimal amount as academic fee -

When you will see the fee structure of distance mode of education online or on campus then it would be minimal in comparison of regular mode of education on campus.

Why these institutions are charging a lot less ?

Good question that why they are charging a lot less even you are going to get the degree of equivalent value of the student’s degree who are in regular course ? It’s because by choosing the distance mode of education you helped them to cut the heavy charges like infrastructure charges, security charges, development charges etc

And that’s why they take charges value of degree only that is already low and same for the regular students too as defined by the affiliating University.

Access to your course material -

After getting admission you will get instant access to your course material using an ID and secret code, now you can log in to your account anytime you get free of your job or business and start reading the course material having some notes for the important point simultaneously in a notebook to get help during the preparation of the examinations.

This system helps you in your studies by giving you complete access to your course material along with a community inside a forum where other students and faculty members also holds their account and discuss over their doubts so you can also ask for the help if finding any difficulty in understanding any topic from your subject.

Important* - If it happens that you are not getting it easy to study online or offline using your gadgets then please don’t think and get your course material printed out and study using that hard copy for your convenience.

Use reference books -

Generally it happens that your institution helps you in listing out the reference books you can go through to make your study more effective and easy to understand and write as much as the question requires.

For getting those books you can check your local library, old book market or the seniors or faculty who are in contact with you by using study forum and they will definitely be happy to help you in finding the old books because generally those reference books comes too costly and can cross the amount you deposited as academic fee.

If you manage to get contacts of your seniors then they will provide you their notes and old books that will help you a lot on focusing on just studying those papers instead of composing them from the beginning.

Know about your University and then appear in the examinations -

It really matters to know about your virtual University previous records because that record knowledge will help you to write with the strategy, now when you are dealing with some University then doesn’t matter how good you are prepared for the question papers but it matters that how you are following the papers as per as the requirement of the examiner.

Like in some Universities they require a lot of words in your answers means they also looks at the length of your answers to decide that what is the level of your knowledge and that decided your marks while some other University might go the straight and strict way and give the marking only according to their rules like section wise marking, marking for exact answer etc.

Now hope you will get good marks, if in case you thinks that your marks are very poor in response of your good examinations then see the next point as I’m discussing below.

Not satisfied with your marks, check the rules for re-evaluation -

Please don’t go for the re-evaluation without checking the University rules because sometime you might loose the current position too because according to some University rules you will the marks as per as recent result that will come after the re-evaluation and if GOD is not listening your story you will waste your money and lose your current position at the same time.

Some Universities will only do totalling of your marks while some will do the proper checking so be sure you have some security ahead after filling the re-evaluation form, and yes you have to pay some re-evaluation fee too that would be something like Rs.200-1000 per paper.

Now It’s YOUR Turn

Please don’t leave this page without sharing this article in your friends if you thinks that they will get some high quality information about distance education for working people for free and also leave a comment below that how I helped you by writing this article ?

I was analyzing the visitor stats of digmlm and found that most of the Indian readers are coming from the capital city New Delhi and hence decided to write for Delihites at least once in a week to help them get their business or dream job in their life and tips to succeed the same in the smallest time period possible.

Note - As you know that digmlm accepts guest articles so you can also apply if stays here in this city and wants to share something of the public interest and with the common intention of helping them out with at least one challenge per article.

Teaching Jobs in New Delhi [Available]

In this article I’m targeting to those who loves to teach and hence found a great link to share with you all to find your dream job as per as your strongest subject, sports or dance. You can also choose a school, college, institute, coaching institutes or at the privately home tutor services either full time or part time in New Delhi/NCR.

Where is the link ?

I know you don’t want to waste your time and start searching a good Job for you just now and hence I would also like to say best of luck before redirecting you to the page I’m talking about and that is here as Teaching/Education in New Delhi.

Open the above link in a new tab and keep reading this article because I have a bonus link for those who wants to be at home and make money by teaching online with the help of a computer system and an Internet connection.

But before getting that another link why don’t you have patience and know that who should join this profession either full time or part time not only for earning some extra money but also for personality development due to high end interaction with the extremely talented students who have some areas weak enough and you have to support them at those points after a quick identification.

Here is the list of the peoples who should use their leisure time for educating the students :-

Almost everybody should give some time to educate their wards, juniors not only in the academics sections but also all about the social life because they have the better ideas to deal with the real life situations that can’t be found in any book they use to read for completing their college syllabus and get some good marks in the final examinations to lead the competition.

1. Students

If you are a student then you should really consider taking out some time to teach your junior for some time either occasionally for free or daily for some extra money and in the mean time you would also come to know that you are getting your knowledge at the next level due to finding the solutions for your students.

2. Retired Senior

Why are you getting bored at your rest chair watching the television programs that sucks now a days, please think at least once about teaching and call the colony children to spread your knowledge and pass your time helping them learning and for you earning some money to enjoy your happy moments.

Recommended read :- Why Elderly People are the Need for Society

3. Working People

I know you don’t have time but what about the weekends ? why don’t you take out just 2 hours at your weekends and educate the children who needs your support in their studies and willing to pay you more than your weekend expenses.

It’s really a good deal because earning money is other thing but in the mean time you also sharpens your mind and makes yourself more educated than before.

Ways You can Choose to Teach

Now due to involvement of the technology and high end gadgets with the connecting services at extremely low rates makes you eligible to be connected with your students being anywhere so no missing schedules.

Two ways to teach today :-

Online teaching

Offline teaching

Online Teaching - It is the part where you can feel most free for making money and even you can teach anybody directly from your washroom seating at your commode doing some unproductive work.

Distance learning would probably the future teaching style because every student seeks good teacher and that can be possible to reach almost at any teachers door step using the online services where they connects using the web camera installed into the desktop or the notebooks and high speed internet connection what is now available at low costs.

Where is the second bonus link ?

I know you got a lot of information till now and need to open that second link so don’t wait and click on Online Teaching – A Great Money Making Opportunity.

Above link will redirect you to another article written by me only where you will come to know what are the basic needs to create online classes, some websites meeting students and teachers and most important how to get paid without any error.

Offline Teaching - In this traditional teaching style you have to be a little active and have your own car in Delhi (old or used cars) to cover the distances and reach at the students home or the respected institute where students will get collected at a specific time and just go through your preparations to help them face to face.

You would love to help them face to face because it is still the most effective way to teach the same things you want to let your students understand and write in their examinations with full of motivation due to better understanding you provides.

Over to YOU

I know I ate a lot of your time but this article was worth reading now you might also be agree with my words and want to help me in spreading this in more and more right kind peoples living around you and looking for the opportunity to teach either from home or visiting the site recommended.

So please share this article in your friends using different social network buttons just after this article and let me know how you feels after reading this article and also some topics you want to covered by me in next issues targeted to Delihites.

What colleges, government institutions and the students think about the campus placement? Well, the answer may differ from person to person but one thing is logically correct that the process of the placement in nearly all the institutions and colleges has become more sophisticated, complex and difficult.

When you compare the same process of campus placements, you would have found the easy one when the recruiting company came to the college campus, go though the resume of the candidate, discuss about the viable package, offer the appointment letters and they walk off their campus area. It was just brilliant! And, what has it become now? The process has completely changed where the recruiters even want to know the candidate’s opinion about global warming and the issue of terrorism. Yes, this is called the group discussion and such elimination rounds have become part and parcel of the recruitment process today.

Tackling such campus placements is very easy if you know certain points of consideration –

Don’t get stuck with the package –

The candidates must need to learn how to respond negatively in context of the package. It should be noted here that the recruiting companies’ employees that can serve their companies for a long term and may not offer any tensions and headaches in the coming future. No doubt, the students want to chase behind the increase in salary packages but they forget to mention their own goals in the industry. You should be bold enough to explain about your goals in PI or GD.

Show a learning intuition and be tactful –

The time demands now a tactful appearance before the recruiters in mentioning your goals, limitations and other things. It should be noted here that companies are interviewing thousands of students daily and you are not alone in the crowd. It is better to know their tactics and when they ask about your limitations, answer it cleverly. The only option you have in this case is to have healthy and formal conversation with the recruiters. You must show them you are always prepared to learn new things in no time.

Get familiar with the latest technology –

In a recent report, a multinational company in the name of MU Sigma interviewed a candidate through Skype, which was certainly a different notion for the candidate. Well, if you have learned all the conventional trends of interviews with butt0oned shirts and straight backbone; you need to rethink your preparation strategy. While you try to tackle the campus placement, you will certainly have to forget all the traditional methods of recruitment.

Get yourself close to the seniors –

This becomes important for you as a fresh graduate because the companies are thinking the other way round. They prefer now to send the fresh employees as the brand ambassadors to your campus rather than sending an expert team of HRs. yes, the new process of recruitment will give the companies a new weapon to look deep into the candidate’s portfolios. They could be also capable of finding the incompetent candidates or students with fake resumes quite easily. Recruiters like Wipro, MphasiS, Cognizant and other MNCs are adopting this method of campus placement.

Investment in poor ventures will always fetch an unexpected and loosing result. Similar is the case with the higher education trends and patterns in India where students are aping behind the set standards and fields despite of the lack of interest they have in their mind. It seems to be a really poor and sad affair on the sides of students where they are quite interested in getting a bachelor degree although they did not know what they are going to achieve! In fact, everything related to the higher education is going on a wrong path in this country. What will surprise you here is the fact that students are leaning towards the engineering degree with no real interest or passion!

So, what do they really want? Let us explain where higher education system in India is heading towards and what may be the future prospects for the students. The adults in our nation seem to be chasing the dreams of their parents and they are getting very impulsive. You should consider both the cases – students with no interest and those who were compelled to choose this area. The first segment are surely destined to be doomed and the later one is targeted towards some cozy jobs that may fetch them great salary and incentives.

After spending 4 years in a college or university, the students get aware of the fact that it was not their destination. They were not shaped and designed for the same goal. So, what to do now when you have already misused your precious time of four years? Well, nothing sort of things are needed to be done for them as the faculties, college management and the national educational system have already invested a lot of resources and time to these poor and non-rewarding ventures.

It is needless to say that the fresh generation is much smarter and alive than the older one. The time demands much holding condition from the parents and the kids are needed to pursue their dreams without any education pressure. The time has gone when beautiful girls looked for only engineers/doctors in the matrimonial classifieds. There is a wide variety of career opportunities available in the Indian economy and students should definitely harness them at the earliest. Set examples are already on the floor to learn like Devendra Purbia and Chetan Bhagat. Their lives can guide you when you are facing situations like lack of information, career scopes and forced will power.

The biggest problem which lies with the large education system of India is the lack of proper and complete knowledge. The students are not getting the proper guidance and information to equip themselves with right skills. Internet has got more effective and ubiquitous; mass media services have also expanded but all these latest technologies seem to be out of reach for the higher education system in India. It does not mean that you will have to wait for the recommendations and education plan from the government. Just build a community and help your younger generation in choosing the right career !

The first few weeks on the job are always nerve-racking, so it is only natural for someone to feel like he/she needs to walk on eggshells and make an impression. As a fairly new employee myself, I was constantly given advice about how to get “liked” at a new job. However, this advice was oftentimes very conflicting. My parents would tell me to try and blend in and be nice to everyone, yet my friends were telling me that I should try and stand out and really make an impression. Ultimately I was going to be myself, but let’s be honest—I was also going to try and make the right impression.

Knowing when to fit in with a company and when to voice your opinions can be tough. During those first few weeks at a new job you want to be liked. If people like you, anything you bring to the table in the future will be more accepted. This will make work more enjoyable and will help solidify your future with a company. Consider some of the situations below and whether it might be best to either blend in or stand out:

5 Situations Most Experience At the Start of a Job

Going out to lunch with a few co-workers.

Stand Out. Co-workers oftentimes become friends because they spend so much time together. They are likely used to getting lunch every once and a while, and it is not uncommon for a group of people to invite the new employee. This happens most often with different departments in a company. If some of your co-workers ask you out to lunch, it’s definitely in your best interested to go. Get to know your co-workers, and don’t be afraid to stand out. This is your chance to really make an impression because you have a good amount of time to get to know those around you. Whatever your thing is—humor, intelligence, storytelling, etc.—now is the time to show it. These are the people that really want to get to know you.

Walking around the office.

Blend in. You’re bound to run into a few people when you’re walking to the bathroom or to get a glass of water. These people won’t necessarily be in your department, so you may not come into contact with them all too often. It’s a good idea to introduce yourself, but don’t try and stand out and make an impression. You only have a few seconds at most to see someone around the office, so it’s probably not the best time to strike up a conversation.

Attending meetings with your boss and some of your co-workers.

Depends. Meetings can sometimes be a good chance to show off what you know to your boss, but you do not want to seem like a show-off. In other words, you may want to strike a balance between blending in and making a statement. If the meeting warrants your opinion, give it in a factual and humble way. If the meeting is really just informational, then blend in with the rest of the crowd.

Work parties and/or workplace events.

Blend In. This is where many people differ in opinion. I personally feel that, for many people, a work function is the place to blend in and meet everyone. You don’t want everyone wondering who the loud obnoxious new guy is, and you don’t want people wondering why you are acting like you are best friends with people you just met. Try and be polite and get to know everyone before trying to stand out. This is your chance to really meet the whole office.

Giving a presentation to a group of people in the office.

Stand out. In the majority of situations, giving a presentation means you’re getting a chance to really show what you know about the company. This is the opportunity to impress your boss, and you should take it. Whatever makes you unique; this is the time to show it. After all, being knowledgeable in your field is why you have the job in the first place. This is one of the few times that you can stand out and not seem pretentious during the first few weeks on the job.

Why It Matters ?

As always, there are exceptions to every rule. No one should ever change their personality just so others like them. These are simply tips to keep in mind in case you are concerned with making a good impression. Many people do not have to hold back or put forward any sort of personality, but many just simply like to be aware.

As someone new to the workforce, I know that my friends and I have all done things that we wish we could take bake. Whether it be drinking a little bit too much at a company event or not being outspoken enough during a company meeting, it can be tough to have those natural instincts at first. It takes years of experience to really understand how a company setting works.

Do you have any stories of filling in or standing out during your first few weeks at a new company?
