The weather’s been really strange lately… It’s been scorching hot early in the week, then yesterday it cooled down to the low 80s, and then lightning and rain in the late evening. Bizarre! Anyhoo, here are a few photos I snapped and shared over on Instagram. You can see more snippets of my weekend if you follow me @deelighttful. Enjoy!

1. July was such a busy month — I’m relieved that its finally over! We’re caught up on our deadlines at work (crossing my fingers and toes that there aren’t anymore mandatory weekend overtime) and I’m glad I can catch a break from all the crazy birthday celebrations! I’m savoring the downtime right now

2. I never thought I’d pick wine coolers over beer or wine but they’re definitely growing on me! They’re so easy to drink and best of all, no hangovers! Yum!

3. I got a call on Thursday for an interview for a marketing position I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear back from. I had to suit up in 100 degree weather and put on my game face for it so really really I hope I get it! I would be the happiest girl if I could land that job!

4. So… I’m trying to decide whether I should cut my bangs or let it grow out. My sister’s trying to talk me out of it because the last few times I cut bangs I ended up regretting it but I see girls with thick soft bangs and I envy how adorable they look with it. What to doooo?

It’s been a long, long week. We’re swamped at work because of a high profile job with a legal deadline of August 13 so from now until then, I’m expected to do lots of over time, including over time on the weekends… boo hoo hoo! Besides work, I’ve got birthdays, house warming parties, and more birthdays… the fun just never ends! Here are some of my favorite photo recaps from the last few days (as posted over on Instagram).

1. There’s a great deal going on for lipsticks from RiteAid right now! Spend $8 and get $3 +UP rewards plus 40% off each lipstick! All in all, I spent $7.67 for 8! Good buy? I think yes!

2. Summer isn’t complete without a day at the California State Fair. We’re too old to enjoy any of the rides besides the monorail, so we were mostly there to eat, people watch, and browse around the exhibits.

3. Turkey legs are a must-have at the State Fair! Compare the monster drumsticks to the full-sized corn and you can see how ginormous these turkey legs are!!

4. Thursday afternoon when I got off work, my BFF called to ask me to be his +1 for dinner. Our friend owns a restaurant in Midtown and promised him a 10 course meal for his belated birthday present. We had tuna wrapped kumamoto oysters (as pictured), uni and dashi gelee, heirloom tomatoes with albacore and tempura baby corn, scallop in tomato gazpacho with house cured salmon roe, and the list goes on and on. We also had German Riesling, Kirin Ichiban Japanese beer, and “juicebox” sake… We were spoiled!!!

5. My girlfriends came by Saturday afternoon for brunch and John made us chicken sandwiches while we sipped on mimosas and lounged around our pool. I love my life!

6. John’s family was over for a BBQ to celebrate his nephew’s birthday. We ended up playing volleyball and badminton! Its been years since I’ve played any sports so I ended up pulling a leg muscle… old age sucks!

This week passed by in a flash! Monday afternoon was probably the only downtime I had all week! Here are some of my favorite photo recaps from the last few days (as posted over on Instagram).

1. My BFF is such a goofball. That’s his impression of Charlie Chaplin’s infamous Dance of the Bread Rolls.

2. Our garden is blooming! I pick a bowl of cherry tomatoes every day and believe me, I can eat all of this in one sitting! They’re fresh, sweet, and packed with flavor. I love ‘em best chilled from the fridge!

3. That’s John and his attempt to string up backyard lights on our two-story house. After watching him go up the ladder half way, I begged him to come back down and hang the lights from the window shutters instead. Just watching him go up made my head dizzy! The lights turned out spectacular but I can’t show you just yet… stay tuned when I reveal all from my birthday party in August!

4. I worked late last Thursday and decided to stick around midtown for dinner instead of suffering the bumper to bumper afternoon traffic. So I got some shabu-shabu! Kurobuta pork and shoyu broth is my favorite!! That paired with a glass of Orion Japanese beer and I’m in heaven!

5. I took the day off on Friday to return my rental and pick up my car from the body shop. Yep! I finally got my baby back! Later that afternoon I dropped by my friend’s house to visit and played with her baby boy, Zachary. He’s so cute! I want to kidnap him!!

6. Saturday was a lazy, 100+ degrees, lounge-by-the-pool-all-day sorta day. My friend Ann came by to swim and we ended up making fresh iced coffee to quench our thirst (and satisfy our caffeine withdrawals). Yum!

7. I snapped a picture of the rolling clouds this afternoon from John’s sister’s backyard. I can’t remember the last time I looked up and saw the beautiful blue sky. Sometimes we all need a little reminder to take a moment and enjoy the simple things.

8. John’s baby nephew was over at our house to swim with his older brothers today. He was more interested in following and petting Summer than swimming! Good thing Summer is very timid when it comes to little toddlers!
