Deep Blue heads to Orvieto, in Umbria, Italy for its annual winter jazz festival. The group will play two performances, one on December 28th and the another to bring in the new year on New Years Eve/January 1, 2012.

For the week of September 12th, 2011, Wonderful! – the Deep Blue Organ Trio’s recording of the songs of Stevie Wonder – topped both college and non-commercial radio in North America and Canada and U.S. NPR and commercial radio jazz airplay charts, making it the most played and heard jazz CD in the country!

The CD has held its number one spot for three consecutive weeks on the CMJ (College Music Journal) chart. This is the groups’ first number one CD. Its previous CD, Folk Music (2008,Origin Records) reached number 2 for multiple weeks at Jazz Week.

We appreciate the radio Program Directors and Disc Jockeys for embracing the music and for sharing their enthusiasm for it with their listeners. Thank You!

WONDERFUL! BRINGS DBOT TO #2 ON NATIONAL AIRPLAY JAZZ CHART!

For the second time in consecutive releases, the Deep Blue Organ Trio has reached the number two spot on the Jazz Week airplay chart. In 2007, their Folk Music CD reached that position, where it remained for 3 straight weeks.

Now, with their current CD, Wonderful!, the group has once again captured the attention of jazz radio and listeners around the country. After two sold out shows in NYC at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola and an upcoming appearance at the Chicago Jazz festival, DBOT is grateful, poised and hopeful that this CD, just in its 4th week on the chart, can reach that number one spot.

DEEP BLUE ORGAN TRIO NYC DEBUT at DIZZY’S CLUB COCA COLA

The Deep Blue Organ Trio will premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola on Monday, August 8th. The performance will mark their first New York appearance as a group.

The group will also appear in an interview and informal Q&A prior to the performance at the club at 7 pm, hosted by WBGO Radio’s Rhonda Hamilton; in a Monday August 8th 1 pm interview with Mark Ruffin at Sirius/XM Radio; and they’ll celebrate the release of their upcoming CD, Wonderfful!, on Origin Records.

DEEP BLUE ORGAN TRIO IN CAR ACCIDENT LEAVING STEELY DAN TOUR

On July 20th, as the Deep Blue Organ Trio was leaving the Toledo Zoo Amphitheater after completing the last of their scheduled dates as opening act for Steely Dan, their vehicle was struck broadside. The van and trailer were hit as they had nearly cleared crossing a four lane intersection. Although fortunately no one was injured, the van suffered extreme damage and will quite possibly need to be replaced.

DBOT is currently traveling as the opening act for Steely Dan with two more concerts left to go in Cincinnati today and Toledo tomorrow.

And, at long last, the new CD, Wonderful! will be released on August 16th. The trio’s first CD release performance will happen at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in NYC on Monday, August 8th.
