This chart from Mary Meeker’s latest “state of the net” presentation shows lots of potential for mobile advertising and, to a lesser extent, Internet advertising. (Mary Meeker from Kleiner Perkins is one of the most respected Web strategy analysts today.)

What struck me, however, is that pair of columns all the way to the left - Print advertising. Wow: 25 percent of ad spending is going towards people who only spend 7% of their time reading print media! If you’re still running print ads, hurry up and take some of those dollars and get yourself into mobile. Not only will you have more impact, but currently mobile ad dollars go further on less investment.

I do take phone calls!) at (908) 665-6400.

Marissa Mayer, new #Yahoo CEO, on where the company is...

Marissa Mayer, new #Yahoo CEO, on where the company is heading.

Two things about this:

- Mayer empowers her employees to innovate by giving them all smartphones and the direction to find ways for Yahoo to innovate in the huge (and getting bigger) mobile market.

- Research informs strategy. I could quibble that the research was home-grown (but that’s not always bad) instead of pure market research. The lesson? Don’t be afraid to conduct your own bootstrap research, if only to see if your gut instinct is right.

Share this if you’ve ever heard someone say this!

Share this if you’ve ever heard someone say this!

We recommend Network Solutions for domain name registry.

We recommend Network Solutions for domain name registry.

DealBook: Google's Marissa Mayer Becomes Yahoo's Chief

DealBook: Google's Marissa Mayer Becomes Yahoo's Chief: Marissa Mayer, one of the top executives at...

The Absolute Best Day and Time to Post to Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr

By Delena Roth

This video hit me right in the solar plexus. It sums up what attracted me to advertising and marketing in the first place - touching and connecting people - and why I’m fascinated with applying that to today’s Web/mobile/interactive environment. Back in the mid-1990s when I first realized how huge the Web was going to be, I never could have imagined this kind of application. Watch it. If you need a lift in your day, this is the best 10 minutes you’ll spend getting it.
