Eizo Pin-up Calendar 2010 by Butter Agency is a prime example of taking an old, over used concept and re-inventing it. Ezio is a manufacturer of medical diagnostic equiments so it made absolute sense for Butter to use half nake models in pin-up style but instead x-rays of them.

It’s probably not the prettiest thing to look at but the point is that the message is delivered in a very original way. Like it or not, you gotta love it for that reason.

Rape is Not Love

Peter Pavlov is currently completing study at the department of graphic design and visual communications at the Italian Academy. At the same time, Peter is working graphic designer at McCann Erickson for clients such as Coca-Cola, Fanta and Bacardi. He is also involved in work on experimental design academy, which helps him to develop his own style of design. I envy this guy.

Rape is Not Love

Rape is Not Love is one of the latest social projects, on which he worked and it’s stunning. I love the colours, the red, the texture. It brings such a gritty look and feel to the design. The concept of the heart with arrow through it is taken to a whole new level because of execution. Usually arrow through heart depicted love – that’s how I remember drawing it as a kid but this guy did a 180 which is what I like about it. That’s what communicate that rape isn’t love though this is something everyone should know right.

Though we all know rape is not love Peter explains that the perpetrator is most often a friend, girlfriend, husband, wife, uncle, etc. Therefore, for the victim it is very difficult to understand if he/she was raped. As a consequence – the victim tries to forget. The purpose of this social campaign to inform the public, the three most common case in which there is a rape – acquaintance, date, marriage.

A series of handmade posters was created for a campaign entitled ‘Change Your Routine’ by DM9DDB for Cia Athletica. The posters made of disassembled electronics that illustrate athletes in action aims to encourage people to replace hours of TV and computer with physical activities.

There’s no critique, description or words worth saying to communicate how awesome this is. If you don’t love it, seriously, you’re not appreciating creativity in my opinion.

Private Co-Branding Interactive Website

I just got wind of this via Trendland. Karl Lagerfeld (aka Chanel) and their sister brand Eres just launched a fun yet simple interactive web campaign, photographed by the Kaiser himself, featuring the beautiful model Emily Didonato. It’s a very cool idea and the photography is no doubt flawless.

I did not like the horizontal scroll on the site and felt this was a shortcoming since they used flash. Horizontal scroll? Really? If you’re going to use flash, step it up a notch. That’s possibly the reason why I had to refresh when I first loaded the site.

Other than being able to play with the site by erasing top layer to see bottom layer, I don’t see the point in this website. There’s no message, story or anything to tell me what this is about. However, if you’re a brand like Chanel, this is pretty much all you need.

Summer Advertising Campaign for Freya Lingerie

British lingerie brand Freya has launched an advertising campaign of their summer collection art directed by Stuart Jackson. Photo shoot, entitled ‘Let’ em Roll’ is also launched with online campaign called ‘Holy Fit‘ geared towards educating young girls the importance of a well fitted bra.

The campaign is appropriately titled as the reaction of women coming out of the fitting room is ‘holy fit’. Nice way to title a campaign if you ask me. Often I classify ads as using ’sex’ to sell their product but this campaign I would not ever fit into that category.

The women are sexy but not seductively sexy nor do I think it’s communicating the whole ‘buy it because it looks sexy approach’. But hey, it’s a bra their advertising so how can you class them in that category anyway.

This billboard is a study by a local homeless advocacy group to raise awareness of nationwide issue. Danny is a homeless man that’s been sitting on top of the billboard. It encourages people to text Danny to donate $10 for him to get a house.

Young and Rubicam Giant Bottle Ad

Advertising is all about grabbing attention and today’s word it’s becoming increasingly difficult. Young and Rubicam has developed a stunning non-profit campaign against people driving under the influence of alcohol. The idea was to create a giant bottle from 80 car frames with the copy “Don’t Drive and Drink” on it. The campaign runs for 3 months on one of the busiest roads in Israel.

Seriously, I really can’t imagine this not grabbing some serious attention.

This is simply awesome, brilliant and downright aggressive. Germanwing Airlines went onto a competitor airline and introduced a unique type of advertising to the industry. See the following video.

Hunky Dorys Sexual Exploits

A lot of controversy around Hunky Dorys’, a chip manufacturer recent ad campaigns featuring hot models playing rugby with suggestive copy such as ‘Tackle these’. Additionally there’s an interactive website created for the campaign with locker room where you get to download wallpapers of the girls.

While I agree it’s tacky, I’ve seen worse cases. Come on, we’ve seen CK ads with some hot girl just posing selling perfume. At least in this instance they get creative and funny with the copy and I really appreciate when copy gets smart and is perfectly integrated into ad campaigns. What’s your take on the following?

Bristol-Myers Squibb has launched a new advertising campaign for its Alca-Luftal antacid. Created by Lew’Lara/TBWA the campaign shows, in a funny way, how food can bring us some unpleasant surprises. The ads are running in local newspapers, magazines and posters.
