Opening a design business via the company registration in Thailand process

While the company registration in Thailand process is very similar for everyone, what you have to realize is that creating a new business in a proper manner can be very challenging. Which is why you really have to push the boundaries and come up with a creative and professional way to make this more appealing and powerful.

Creating a design company in Thailand is possible and you need to go through the regular company registration in Thailand process. There’s nothing extremely different, so you will find that it will work quite nicely for you provided that you pay a lot of attention to how everything is implemented and so on.

We believe it’s extremely important to pursue any situation like this with an open mind. When you start a design business, you really want to make it different, it has to stand out and show that there are some great benefits related to it. Without that, it will not be as good or interesting.

But if you commit to the process and make it work, it will give you some really nice results and benefits. That’s what really makes the design business stand out, the fact that you can be as creative as possible and you can have all the control you need, and it will still offer a tremendous experience every time. Once you do this right, the payoff itself will be among the best.

Thankfully, we noticed that the design business opening process is all about making things simpler and more convenient. Not only will you get more control over the experience itself, but the results on their own can stand out without any hassle. Of course there are challenges along the way, but the design world is full of tremendous ideas and it will totally offer you the outcome you want and the attention to detail you know and expect. Once you do that properly, you can then specialize and come up to new ways to make the experience impressive and downright incredible.

One thing to note is that as a newcomer the company registration in Thailand process can be very challenging. That’s why you really need to take your time and actively figure out a way to make this more impressive and interesting. It’s definitely not going to be easy to try and complete this process yourself, so having someone help you really comes in handy.

Thankfully, it’s legal to open a design business in Thailand. And a lawyer can help you with the company registration Thailand process. This means you just have to be creative and come up with methods that will make your business idea stand out. Once you have all of that, nothing will stand in your way and the experience can be incredible every time. Just remember, value and quality are crucial for your design services. And if you rely on those, nothing can stand in your way after you complete the company registration in Thailand process!

Are you ready to become a freelancer?

Are you ready to become a freelancer?

What does it take to actually be a freelancer? Well not much, besides a nice skill set, and a source for clients, and people knowing you do freelance work. Being a freelancer is like being your own boss - wrong. Its like being your boss, manager, marketer, designer, coder (some cases), etc etc. Its like being your own company all wrapped into one human. Essentially all your clients are your boss. Being a freelancer you can tell them to go tell hell, but its not in your favor to treat your mini bosses this way because you will end up with no clients.

When you start being known as a freelancer, you will get the people who think they can offer you any price and you will take it. When your first start you may want to take everything you can get. However, don’t get into a habit of doing this, because you will lose money. Your time will become money.

Alright so you want to be your own company, how do you start? You can start really anytime, even...now. You will need to ask yourself some of these questions before taking the plunge into becoming a web design freelancer.

- Are your skills worth money?

- Do you have a basic understanding of how people use websites, and how to build effective web sites?

- Have you thought about what you want to become a star in? (Graphic design, css, programming, etc etc)

- How much do you want or need to make to survive as a freelancer?

- Are you good with unruly clients? (Or people)

- Do you have the equipment to do real world projects?

This can go on and on, but it boils down to this. If you have the skill set, and knowledge; Do you need funding for equipment or to hire partners - or - do you have everything ready just need to know where to get the clients.

There is nothing wrong with getting funding, and writing up a business plan. You should write up a business plan even if you do not plan on using it anytime soon for a grant. It will help you, and get you sorted on how to deal with certain situations, and how to run your business.

If you have the skills, and equipment, all you need now is the clients!

--

So where are all these clients hiding, and why aren’t they looking for you! The obvious answer is they don’t know you, or of you. Before you can get clients you need to put your marketing and sales hat on - remember you are a one man business entity. You will need to attract these clients with a nice portfolio, and some live sites done if you are selling coding work. A great design portfolio will work well if you are only going to be doing that. If you are advertising a whole list of services, please show links to examples of all the services done.

Before you can go on the many freelance job boards, before you can even think about how much to charge them. Make your portfolio, get a host, and register a domain. Your portfolio should demonstrate all your skills, and services. Now, this means everything. Not just a image gallery, but how the site it self is coded. Savy clients will check your source code. If you are selling css/xhtml work, you better code your site with those, and make it damn nice. You will lose a lot of points if your portfolio is an image, or just sliced up in Photoshop. I have a friend in the UK, and he is damn good with graphic design. His coding skills are non-existent. I don’t know why he doesn’t learn the basics, but it hurts him in ways he may not be aware of. He has a portfolio that looks amazing, but its just an image of site. His whole site is just images. Its nearly impossible to use his site, he does not offer css work so it doesn’t matter much to him if the site is coded well. But to clients they make think that he is unaware of how web sites are coded, and he would create un-codable designs. Moreover, make sure the site is coded, and looks good on every browser.

Some tips on creating a portfolio. When I first started I always like to act like I was a huge company on my portfolio site, and often referred to myself as we. Don’t do this unless you are a huge company! Your potential clients want to work with freelancers and not companies. Make it personally but not too personal. Try to impress them within 30 seconds. The most effective portfolio trick is to make everything on the homepage. Which includes: your portfolio gallery, contact info, about you, and a featured project (optionally).

As soon as you feel you can handle clients, and your skill sets are up to par. Get the portfolio up, and come back here for more articles and tutorials about how to pick the host, get the clients, keep the clients and grow!

I will have more tips with more articles. So Stay Tuned!

Pretty Navigation Made Easy

Making beatiful navigation menus in XHTML is a lot easier than one might think. In 4.01 HTML accomplishing a fairly complex navigation with stripes, roll-over and rounded corners can be rather much. Writing out the code will take at least 5 lines more than XHTML and will have no semantic value. Using XHTML to accomplish a fairly complex navigation is as easy as writing a list. That's right, it only take 5 minutes to cut up, and code. The code looks beatiful, and the end result looks beautiful.

In this tutorial I will take you through the process of setting up a navigation system in Photoshop and then cutting it up and making a XHTML list and using CSS to style it. Using this method will allow you freedom to make any type of complex graphic for your navigation system, without having to settle with a solid color, or any CSS generated navigation menus.

Goals For Navigation

I decided to cover three problems in that were hard to accomplish in HTML.

Rounded Corners

Diagonal Stripes

Gradient Background

Desiging The Navigation

Open up Photoshop and make a canvas with width 400px and height 100px just so you can get a better idea of how the navigation will look with a few links, so you can design it better. Use the rectangle tool with a radius of 5px and fill up the canvas leaving some white space around the rectangle. I decided to with pink (#e62e46) background and gave it a bevel effect:

Diagonal Stripes

Now I wanted to make some diagonal stripes to give a better effect. To do this I opened up a new canvas with width 5px and heigh 5px. Using the line tool I made a diagonal black line from the top right to the bottom left. Zoom up real close to make it fit perfectly. Once you've done this go to Edit >> Define Pattern. You now have a diagonal line effect you can use on any element you wish.

Return to the navigation design and select the rectangle with the magic wand, and create a new layer. On the new layer with the selection in the shape of the rectangle go to Layer >> New Fill Layer >> Pattern then select the diagonal line pattern you just created. It should be set to that by defualt being the newest pattern. The pattern should be black, which doesn't look good, so I changed the color to white in the blending options and lowered the opacity to 23%. It should look like this:

Splash Page Tutorial

When you are starting a project its nice to have the domain setup, and get some viral buzz about it. Instead of having a boring splash page, you can have a very cool and interesting splash page. This design may not go with your colors for your site, but its principles can be applied. In this tutorial I will assume you have a basic knowledge of photoshop. I will be using some photoshop brushes, you can find good ones any where on the net, but I found the best ones on Deviantart.com.

The texture

Subtle texture can go along way when designing high quality sites. Simple is good on more contextual parts of the site, but for backgrounds its always nice to have a nice subtle repeating pattern. For this tutorial I used a dark brown, and a Photoshop Pattern I got from DeviantArt (Photoshop resources are KEY to good work flow) I encourage you to browse around, and find some nice ones. I also added a bit of grunge with a low opacity to give it some value changes.

Whoa...pretty colors :)

I created a new layer and with some nice grungy brushes I gently placed some neon colors to give the dark background a run for its money. Moreover, high contrast to make the sign we are going to add really pop out. All I did was go around with a brush and click ONCE with a color, and than chose another color and rinse and repeat. I say click once because with grunge and most photoshop brushes if you click and drag you will get some really ugly results.

The notice sign.

Create a new layer, use the rectangle marquee tool, fill it in with white, and in the blending options. Outer glow to a black color, and set to Multiply. Turn down the opacity on the out glow as well. Now to really make it have the 3D feel. Crtl+Click on the layer to select the box, and create a new layer under it, and fill it in with black. This is going to be the stronger shadow. Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Put it on about 2.7 pixels, and this will make it nice and feathery. Move this layer near the right bottom corner of the white box. Try and position it so it looks like that light source is coming from the top left corner.

Blog Banner

For a blog a banner is usually the only place where one will have some really creative graphical elements. I am going to show you how to create a very cool banner, and how easy it is to do it - with the right tools. Using a few textures, and a few little techniques you can make your boring blog header into something very cool! Blogging is more important to the users, but why not add some cool designs to your blog?

If you click on the image above it will take you to the full banner image you will be creating in this tutorial. I used some Photoshop Brushes in this tutorial, you can download them from a lot of sites. The best place to get nice ones are from Deviantart.com. Let's get started!

The Canvas

First of all you will need to create a new canvas the size will depend on your width of your site, or however wide you want it to be. Create a new layer and fill it in with a gradient. I used from #67930c to #7cb20e. Also open up the blending options and create an inner shadow with a very low opacity about 30%. This will make it 3d, more realistic, and thus more polished in the end

Blogging the pattern

Now we will need to create the pattern on the background. You can use any Photoshop Pattern you have or download some from the various sites out there. I got mine from Brusheezy.com from RubelCreative. Go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern. A couple of windows will show up in one of them you will need to load up the pattern you want to use. To load up a new pattern is the same way to load up brushes. Put the new pattern layer to Multiply and with a opacity of 40%.

Borders

Now we can a bottom border. You can have this for your nav links, but in this case I didn’t. Make a new layer and use your rectangle marquee tool to make the selection. Fill it in with a greyish color. Copy that layer, and select the layer under it ( the original) and turn down the opacity and move it up. This will create the nice light top border on the bottom border.

Web 2.0 Website

Web 2.0 under almost all circumstances implies a new web, something better than that last web. It really means new technologies, but web 2.0 is also applied to web design. Todays web 2.0 websites are written in XHTML/CSS, but even without coding in XHTML/CSS you can still make a web 2.0 website template. So, does this mean this is a new web design? Something newer than the old? Not neccessarily.

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a web 2.0 website template. Utilizing some of the key features found on most web 2.0 websites. These include whitespace, larger fonts, and personality. We are going to create a simple web 2.0 web site design. This is for a fictious envirnomental podcast website template. Green and blue are going to be the colors used, and we will start off with working on a simple logo for our podcasters, "ekolive".

Creating the Canvas

Creating the size for a web design template can vary, I usually go for 1000px so I can design for the full screen on my resolution. However for this just create a 700px width and 600px height

Creating the logo

Text based web logos are usually very effective. So we will take advantage of its simplicity and ease of creation. Lets imagine that our podcasters were called, "ekolive" and they wanted their tag line to be, "Environmental Podcast" Short and effective. I chose to use the font Tahoma for the font. Create something similar to this:

This is quite simple, so lets add some further effect to it. I like how the text is now, so we won't change any of that. As this is for an environmental podcast lets have a leaf in the logo. Conveniently Photoshop has some shapes for us to use with the Custom Shape tool. Under Nature the 7th shape is of a single leaf. We will use this for the logo. I cut some of the bottom off and sized it up against the logo, and put a 1px line under the logo and attaching to the bottom of the leaf. Making them the same color. Now I copied the leaf layer and used the magic wand tool to select the newly copied leaf. Moving the selection down to the right, until a good size and cut it from the copied leaf. Changing the color too white, and opacity to %25 percent gave it a good effect. It should look something like this:)

Navigation

For the navigation I decided to make a repeating horizontal line for the navigation. Making a 25px height horizontal rectangle about 50px under the logo and give it a gradient and stroke:

The logo and the navigation don't go to well together right now. So, we should utilize another web 2.0 website template effect. Gradient so make a another rectangle above the navigation with a lighter green, and take the rectangle selection tool and give it a feather of 20. Aligning the selection tool accros the top of the green box and press delete until it looks good. Also changing the opacity for a better effect. Looking like this:

Meadow Creative Logo

Sometimes we need to create a very interesting logo for a client looking to look outside of the book. This logo brand is not real this is just for show (King’r is nothing, I think?). We are going to be creating the logo above. It is rather simple, and pretty effective. It has the nice modern look, and is very funky.

To get the full effect of this tutorial you must know photoshop at a basic level. I dont discuss how to use the pen tool. This is more of a design tutorial. I go over how to create the look of the logo. If you need more help you can check out some of the basic tutorials on our site!

Getting Started

Start off by creating a new canvas about 480x640, or any size you wish to work with. For print designs your better off working at a huge scale or using illustrator. In the middle of the canvas create a box with the rectangle marquee tool. In the blending options put a fine 1 pixel border with a light grey. Also add a nice faint drop shadow with a distance of 0. Make the opacity very low to create the realistic shadow.

Making the sky

Now we need to setup the sky. Make a selection the same size as the box you made in step one, and in a new layer fill it with a nice gradient with those colors. Make the gradient on an angle.

Now get a image of clouds and make a new layer above the gradient, and copy and paste the image on it. Make the blending layer to overlay and turn down the opacity. Now we will have a nice realistic clouds.

How to create the mountains

To create the hills use the pen tool with a green fill. You can be as creative with the placement, and shape of the hills as you would like. Once you have the first hill done go to the blending option and select inner glow. Make the color black, and put it multiply and turn down the opacity to around 20%.

Now do that again in new layers above and below this layer. Use darker colors in the back, and lighter colors in the front. Again be creative with the placements of the hills.

Web 2.0 Logo #2

Here is another web 2.0 logo design tutorial! Here is another popular style with a shiny box. A good tip with doing web 2.0 designs, and logos is try to keep the shiny/3d/etc effects on one to two elements of the page. Over doing it wont be good for usability and it will make it look very cluttered. There is a general rule to use about one or two shiney elements and leave the rest not so done up. With light shadows here and there to create the realistic effect. Adding subtle drop shadows will give the polished effect, and will make your designs look great. Well, lets get started!

Setting the stage

Open a new canvas of any size really. If you are going to create a very detailed logo the bigger the canvas the better. I just added a nice blue effect on the top just to add some interesting effect.

Typography

Most of this logo is typography, most good logos are. There are some really well done graphical logos been done (firefox), but simple typography effects can go a long way! You can use any fonts you have, I used a font I paid for. What I did to position the text is to use the guide lines (rulers) to get it perfect. You can see it in the psd if you download it.

Creating the logo design

Here are the blending effects I did for the rectangle box.

Web 2.0 Logo

Web 2.0 company logo design is a term you will come across a lot when dealing with clients, and with doing company logo design. They always seem to ask “I want a web 2.0 logo design ” or a design. Web 2.0 is more about technologies (Ajax, ruby, etc etc), but there are some design elements that go under web 2.0. (At least clients seem to think so.) This is the first of a few web 2.0 logo design tutorials for company logo design. We Have another one, and we are doing more tutorials on many company logo design tutorials.

We will create a very trendy logo design using a techinque that is used a lot now-a-days. The name of the logo I used was "WEB 2.0" but you should change it with your company name! :)

Setting up the stage

Open a new canvas about 400x340, allow for space to experiment. I added a nice blue fade on the top to add some interesting effect.

Creating the shape

This logo is going to be a popular speech bubble type. To create this effect use the shape tool to create a Rounded Rectangle with a round edge of 5px. Try not to make it too large, because we will be adding some text inside of it later on. When doing company logo design it is important to capture there vision, and make it brandable.

Adding the details to our company logo design

Now, to get the little pointer on the bubble we will use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Create a new layer above the box. Near the bottom right corner make a triangle. To get the best effect try and make the triangle at a very steep angle. It will look much better as a result.
