The Stereoscopic House with Large Views of the Ocean

First saw on Designboom, the Stereoscopic house is a multi-storey private dwelling designed by singapore-based architects Pencil Office. The house is a tube-like volume to frame views of the ocean and adjacent golf course while remaining conscious of sustainable living. To reduce energy demands, the house is equipped with rain harvesting systems, solar hot-water heating, and low-e glazing to prevent overheating for the interior.

Giant Colour Pencil Sculptures

Without sun there are no colours and life!

Jonna Pohjalainen worked at the Environmental Art workshop of the Open Air Art Museum in Pedvale. This fine documentation of her work “Colour Pencils” shows us how the work is connected with its surroundings and how it changes during different weather conditions and times of the day. The Finnish artist carves the oversized pencils from local aspen trunks, resulting in cool street art that’s also an environmental statement. The ends of each stick were painted with a bold rainbow color that could be found in any pencil box.

“I traveled to work in Pedvale with empty hands. I admired the lovely rural scene and the sunsets of Pedvale. I used local aspen in my work because of its lively forms and beautiful, grey color. While you sharpen your pencils you can see time passing by. Colors bring joy and happiness in our everyday life. I chose a place of of my work because of the sunsets. You can sit and meditate near my work and look at the sunsets. Without sun there are no colors and life!”

The house has been conceived of as a relaxing retreat for its owners with an emphasis on entertaining guests.” It is surrounded by tropical landscapes and provides gorgeous panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and of the neighboring hills. It is a dream house from every angle. Terra Design, took their inspiration from traditional Thai residences, which have separate pavilions but which keep a sense of unity as a complex. It is characterized by generous volumes and luxe furnishings throughout. Also defined as a separate volume is the master wing, with its master bedroom, a study and plenty of luxury amenities.

We love multi-tasking furniture, but this piece is exceptionally impressive. This kids toy car / chair was designed by Hans Brockhage under supervision of Mart Stam in Germany 1950. Very nice wooden frame, plywood seat with red wooden wheels and rubber tires. Highly decorative and cool usable toy for kids! Very good original condition!

Houses are built with elements of contemporary and classic by Damian Cyryl Kotwicki in Warsaw, Poland. This two-story house, a parking garage, lounge, kitchen, dining room, living room and entrance hall on the first floor, two bedrooms with bathrooms for owners and their guests and an additional space on the second level. Cleo – Tetrahedral Shaped Modular Multipurpose Sofa

“Cleo” is a tetrahedral-shaped modular sofa made of polyurethane foam designed by Barbara Pece – a creative, versatile designer with a degree in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona (Italy).

The sofa can be broken down into 9 different shapes to use, achievable with simple rollovers of the 4 modules that comprise it and the modules are joined together by simple hinges that you can completely separate and pull off. The product can be released in 3 different sizes for different space requirements. It is suitable for large spaces, such as hotels, waiting areas (airports, railway stations), local swimming pools or for houses with modern interiors. Finally, the smaller version is for spaces dedicated to children, such as kindergartens, game rooms, interactive museums; above all because the children imagination can create what does not exist yet!

Barbara Pece is looking for a producer interested in investing in this modern project and she is available for collaborations.

Enjoying an Unlimited View – Villa Överby by John Robert Nilsson

This fantastic villa Överby, designed by John Robert Nilsson Architects is situated on the archipelago off the coast of capital of Sweden, Stockholm. It is a great building with simple design and wonderful open spaces which increase the idea of light. The interiors are dominated by the white color and a minimalist and simplistic design.

From the architect:

Situated on a natural plateau atop a rocky headland, the house enjoys panoramic views across the bay and the evening sun to the west. The entrance side of the house features a solid façade wall, plastered and decolored to matte black. The only interruption is a ceiling-high pivot door with a thin lattice of black stained oak filtering the light. The other façades are made up of a structural glazing system of full glass walls.

The floor plan of the house, a simple rectangular shape, is clearly divided into private and social spheres. The private sphere is further divided into bedrooms, bathrooms and storage, built around an open-concept living space. Instead of traditional doors, most openings are ceiling height. Simply turning the corner gives you the impression of entering a new room.

Beautiful Tree House by Jackson Clements Burrows

The Tree House by architecture firm Jackson Clements Burrows is sited in the bush fringe of Separation Creek perched on a steep forested hillside above the Great Ocean Road and Bass Strait in Victoria, Australia. The tree house draws on the modest local vernacular of 1950’s painted fibro shacks with cement sheet lining and expressed battens over joints. The sculptural form and associated color scheme allow the built form to both connect with the landscape and to dissolve within it.

Bangkok University Creative Center by Supermachine, Thailand

Excellent interior designs for Bangkok University Creative center by Supermachine. They centered the design around an 180 square-meter wall -“Lo-Fi pixel wall” – with 10,000 custom-made rotating four-sided plastic pieces in pink, blue, green and yellow. The wall is used by students to create colour patterns or write messages. A green pod in the student’s workshop shelters the internet center. The colourful design facilitates communication, expands the creativity and encourages flexible experimentation. The different shades of green work very well together without overpowering you. Nice! Overlooking three sides and built on a 264 square meters plot near an adjacent Victorian-styled cottage, the house manages to stay low in the eclectic neighborhood, but still gets the eye whenever you pass by in the evening. ”Responding boldly to these challenges, the Architect has embraced the best of the eclectic neighborhood and celebrated the tension of this inner city location. The house is assertive in its presence but not dominating. It contributes to the vitality and interest of the area. The house form is simple and rectilinear. Rich browns and reds contrast strongly with the grey of the cement sheet. The lustrous finish of aluminium is enhanced by the tension of the raw woven metal mesh. Light flows through the mesh to gently filter light to the ground floor rooms.”
