Next weekend, Saturday 25th at 5 p.m. (and again on Mon 27th May at 8.30 p.m.) we will be screening Song for Marion in English.

"Grumpy pensioner Arthur honors his recently deceased wife's passion for performing by joining the unconventional local choir to which she used to belong, a process that helps him build bridges with his estranged son, James. "

Petition to sign for British expats

At last - HMG has a petition on their website for us to sign. Don't forget - 15 years away and you will have no vote which means no representation and they can do what they like to ex-pat pensions, etc. So much for democracy; they'll be revoking our passports next!

Please pass this around as the only way it will be debated in parliament is
if it reaches in the region of 150,000 signatures.

The GROOVE CATCHERS; are appearing at La Cabane, Vouhé on Saturday, 11th May with a new programme for this year.

The trio Groove Catchers are three young musicians who met in 2009 at a musical workshop at the Jazz school in Tours. Since then they have won accolades in many musical festivals and competitions throughout France. Their music is modern, dynamic comprising funk and groove.

A Leopard slug in the garden

Thank you to John and Jackie who have suggested that the slug we found in the garden yesterday could be a leopard slug. I went straight to Wikipedia (where else!) and found this information. Fascinating. Thank you both.

Spring visitors to my garden

After a really miserable winter, it's great to have sunshine and the chance to get out in the Garden. This morning there was frost on the roof of our neighbour's house, which reminds me to remind you to be careful with planting out, as we can also suffer frost in the middle of May too.

It was the monthly Gardening Club meeting last Thursday at Verruyes and the object to take in was 'spring blossom'. I took a cutting from the beautiful crab apple tree in the front garden, which won lst place.

We love watching the visitors to the bird table on our patio and I've shared a few of them with you. A pair of collared doves - I'm hoping it's the same pair as visited us last year - a pair of greenfinch, a green woodpecker. We've also got a lovely male jay, coal tits, blue tits, great tits, robins and sparrows. Sadly the redwings and siskins haven't been this year.

And a very curious inhabitant - long and mottled brown with a slimy trail. Some kind of slug, but I've no idea what. It was on an upturned tile beside the old vegetable patch. Anyone help? I think I'll send the photo to Chris Luck of Planete Passion, I expect he will know.

And we always enjoy the red squirrels running along the branches of the trees at the bottom of our garden. Last year we had a couple of kittens playing tag around the bushes and up and down the banks.
