KingsIsle Entertainment has announced that Pirate101 will indeed be the 2nd game to be released. I am happy to say that my family and I have been in Alpha testing for a while now and absolutely LOVE IT! We are still currently under NDA, so for now I cannot show you any pictures directly from our gameplay. However, I can show you a few things!

Pricing and Availability

Pirate101 is currently in closed Alpha testing. The game will launch later this year as a free-to-play download at Pirate101.com. As with KingsIsle’s other major title, Wizard101, players will be able to access premium areas of the game by purchasing a monthly subscription or using Crowns, KingsIsle’s popular virtual currency.

Tag Game Info

A new housing object will allow players to play a game of Tag at their Castle or Dorm! The housing kiosk has a ‘Press X to Start the Game’ option that will open a window to show you variants of the types of Tag you can play.

It Tag:
The player starting the game is “it.” If a player who is “it” walks near another player, they become “it” and the player who was “it” has a 15 second immunity from being “it” again. The player who is “it” looks like a Gobbler. There is no score in this game and the game ends when another one is started, the player who is “it” leaves the house or someone stops the game at the kiosk.

Wildfire Tag:
The player starting the game is “it.” If a player who is “it” walks near another player, they become “it” too. The players who are “it” look like Fire Elves. When everyone is “it” except one player, that player wins. A message about the winner is sent to everyone at the house and the game is ended.

Power Ups:
Power Ups are randomly added to the inside and outside of a house once a Tag game starts. Players just run them over to collect them. Players can collect 1 Power-Up at a time. A Power-Up activate button appears on the screen. Both collected and uncollected Power-Ups are removed when game ends. Power-Ups randomly respawn after they’ve been collected. Power-Ups appear like pet derby or maze game power-Ups. The space bar is a hot key for using your collected Power-Up.
Speed up – Allows a player to go 50% faster for 9 seconds
Freeze – Encase all nearby players in a block of ice for 4 seconds
Teleport – Teleports the player to a random location in the current zone
Disguise – If they’re not “it”, this gives the player the “it” effect without them actually being “it” for 30 seconds. If they’re “it”, the “it” effect is removed for 30 seconds
Invisibility – Makes the player invisible for 30 seconds
Immunity/Break Immunity – If they’re not “it”, this makes player immune from being tagged for 15 seconds. If they’re “it”, this allows them to tag immune players for 15 seconds

The game is only active in the interior and exterior of the currently occupied house. Other houses that players can get to using housing teleporters won’t participate in the game.

Important Notes

All types of Tag games will un-mount you for the duration of the game.

All types of purchased and quest transformations will not appear during a Tag game, but the transformation and mount rental timers will continue to countdown for the duration of the game.

You cannot equip a mount or transformation while you are participating in a Tag game.

You cannot teleport to friends who are playing the same Tag game.

Players who are participating in housing PvP are exempt from the Tag game until they leave the duel.

This Tag Game Kiosk is only available by chance in the Emperor’s Attic Pack, and will be craftable very soon.

This morning I received a very special message from Professor Greyrose! We have the final Mystery Puzzle piece from Diary of a Wizard and news that this new place will be coming to the Test Realm soon!

Avalon - Coming Soon to the Test Realm!

KingIsle Entertainment has announced that Avalon is the next world in the Spiral to make it’s way into Wizard101. It’s amazing how many places are hidden in the Spiral. I look forward to the new story of Avalon! Does this remind anyone else of Robin Hood? We shall see!

Avalon is a mainline, medieval world of knights, castles, goblins and dragons. It plays heavily on the Arthurian and Celtic mythologies, with fallen knights, warrior queens and quests to prove one’s worth and skill. It is a land of rich, green glades; dangerous, barricaded towers; and dark, sinister woods.

In Avalon, players will discover new clues regarding the motivations of some of the main characters in the Wizard101 universe, including Merle Ambrose and the evil Morganthe.

Eventually, Wizards will test their might by undertaking a great quest to heal the land and recover the ancient Sword of Kings.

Avalon includes:

Six new Zones with 15 new areas to explore

Level cap increase to 80

28 new (utility) spells – 4 per school

New equipment/drops

New level 78 pet quests (by school)

New pets and mounts

New gardening levels (players can now achieve rank 15 in gardening)

New gardening spells and plants

Avalon is expected to hit the Wizard101 public test server later this week.

PLANO, Texas, Dec. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — As the weather outside turns frightful, Wizard101 is spreading winter warmth by kicking off 12 days of holiday events and surprises. To give this celebration a little more juice – Wizard101 is starting off with a charity moose!
