so here we are on our last stop of the tour and I gotta say I was pretty sad to see it end. but nonetheless, you know we rocked the crap outta Los Angeles. Coming back home from a trip is always nice…but especially when you are going to slay faces of family members, friends, and randoms at the EL Ray. Our buddies Kevin and jon stopped by to hang in the afternoon while we were waiting for sound check. They are cool! Kevin took some hollerific photos of the boys in their suits…damn they look good!

We sure did have a fun time at our show. Afterwards we taped some faces. There is a funny photo of Mickey all tape faced! watch out now. Missin’ the road dearly and the friends we made along the way. But you best believe there will be another franks hit the road journal. It’s like a dog getting his first taste of flesh…once you get that little drop of blood in your system you ain’t ever gonna stop searching for that feeling. Holler folks, holler!

Mims here taking over for Jean. He is being a twerp and I’m ready to recap the last parts of our journey. Our next stop after a kablamo blast in Eugenc was motha effen San Francisco and what a time that was. We woke up bright and early at Jean’s moms house and hit the piney road. We arrived at the venue and there was a kitchen and food in the kitchen! I mean REAL food…eggrolls, chicken stuff, rice, saucey stuff. NOW normally I would not go anywhere near an eggroll, but I was feeling particularly adventurous that day. San Francisco and rock n’ roll can do that me. We ate in the dressing room and boy was it good!

YUM YUM EAT EM UP

After having a blast at our show we went and got burritos…there was a lot of food everywhere! HOLY SMOKES. Our buddy Sean showed us the way to a hott burrito joint and we ate the shit out of them. Another early morning ahead of us, we slept and watched the first 20 minutes of Twilight and then fell asleep at Sean’s house. We wrote a message to Sean in the morning with those magnetic letters on the fridge. It was tite! Then off we were headed for the holy hometown, Los Angeles. Bye bye Franny!

RON IS SO WEIRD

So we are playing Long Beach tonight and it is gonna be wild. Long Beach is so cool it makes me meow like a little kitten getting a suckle of the mama teet. The Prospector is where it is at tonight. DJ OLDBOY is doing it again, and by doing it I mean being cool and spinnin’ like fire. We got Cobalt Cranes and The Vespertines in da house helping us steal souls and tear faces off heads. Who’s coming with me???

Starts at 10…Do not forget to bring your butt so you can shake shake shake.

so it was monday in oregon and after breakfast and powell’s bookstore in portland les franks headed south to eugene where we were greeted by friends, food and beer, plenty of beer. jonny reeves made us coconut curry for dinner, sarah went shopping and bought overalls (above), our good bud dylan hosted a party at his casa with a keg of dead guy, our homies dirty wink lent us their gear and we traded sets back and fourth, digging deep into the annals of our back catalogue as well as some superhumanoids tracks until the party had collapsed to the floor. these kids know fun.

no not actually, entirely, really, but kind of. it’s a long story.

the next morning we had breakfast with mom and step-dad and dan and lindsay and sarah moore. while waiting for the table mimi entertained the local kids, ron stayed pensive as usual.

so ron and i rolled up from eugene to seattle in record time, making a stop at pike place so that ron could break his habit of only eating vegetables. fried fish, fried potatoes and a coke — note that he turned the label away from the camera when taking the picture. but i’ll tell you, it was a coca cola and the tartar sauce was kraft. now where’s my money?

the show was tits of course. seattle, we’re so into you. especially mimi woul only wants to play in the northwest from now on. shout outs to the assholes in the balcony who made for perfect cannon fodder and our girl v who was so kind to say i’m the ian kevin curtis of our generation, no matter what happens nothing can change that now.

anyway, after party in the Shout Out Louds’ tour bus led way to tape faces and ridiculous drunkenness. hot dogs on the sidewalks and football in the streets. then ron disappeared, leaving mimi and me to fend for ourselves at 4am, getting lost driving to his parents house where we were staying. i gave up and said we should sleep in the car on the side of the road. mimi said no way and so as i slept in the passenger seat she eventually found the house. thanks for nothing gps, etc. the kicker to the story is that once we got there we couldn’t get the garage door to open and had to sleep in the car anyway. there’s more to it than than but i’m not going to tell you about all that.

Friday, 5/14 MIMI finally showed that she could walk the walk and did just that up to the podium to grab her degree from USC’s music school. Ron and I stood in the back, so proud, and then hit the road screaming for eugene OR’s blood — “WE’RE GOING TO FUCK YOU FROM THE INSIDE OUT!!!!”

safe, sound and swift, we arrived around midnight and hit the bars — max’s i see you!

Leaving town wouldn’t have felt right if there hadn’t been a healthy dose of procrastination leading up to our departure, quickly followed by a mad rush to get everything in order. On Thursday, May 13th, Mimi and I scrambled to get our gear and merchandise in check. Mission obviously accomplished.

Our favorite sound guy Scott got beat up in Lisbon last night while on tour with No Age. WTF? From the sound of it, they didn’t want English (or Americans it seems) at the club.

Funny thing is minutes before, I’m sure, he had emailed me saying how great it was there: “beer costs about a dollar here and you can drink it in the street. thats true love.”

No…

Well, we’ll be playing Scotty’s house this summer so get ready.
