The Bride of Frankenstein

The Bride of Frankenstein is a 1935 American horror film, after four years the first sequel to Frankenstein.

It's directed by James Whale and stars Boris Karloff as The Monster, and features Elsa Lanchester in the dual role of his mate and Mary Shelley, Colin Clive as Henry Frankenstein, and Ernest Thesiger as Doctor Septimus Pretorius.

The film follows on immediately from the events of the earlier film, and is rooted in a subplot of the original Mary Shelley novel, Frankenstein (1818).

In the film, a chastened Henry Frankenstein abandons his plans to create life, only to be tempted and finally coerced by the Monster, encouraged by Henry's old mentor Dr. Pretorius, into constructing a mate for him.

Preparation began shortly after the first film premiered, but script problems delayed the project.

Principal photography started in January 1935, with creative personnel from the original returning in front of and behind the camera.

Bride of Frankenstein was released to critical and popular acclaim, although it encountered difficulties with some state and national censorship boards.

Since its release the film's reputation has grown, and it is hailed as Whale's masterpiece.

Modern film scholars, noting Whale's homosexuality and that of others involved in the production, have found a gay sensibility in the film, although a number of Whale's associates have dismissed the idea.

Blaine Fontana currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Imbuing his vision with the divine symbolism of religious myths, worldly folklore and current social dynamics, his works contain a kind of shamanic exploration of meaning that recognizes the totemic quality and power of the image. With extensive experience within the design world, including working as a designer for Felt Bicycles and acting art director for Zero+ Publishing, Fontana’s work displays a virtuosic understanding of sign & simulacra and their role within our contemporary visual culture. Straddling the physical and metaphysical, organic and architectural, painterly and graphic sensibilities, Fontana fuses multiple visual strategies to forge an aesthetic language entirely of his own making.

His works have been published in a variety of publications, including iDN/Society 6, My Name Is, Sycamore Review, Soul Pancake, Mod Art, Hi-Fructose, and Juxtapoz. He has exhibited nationally in Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, Miami, and New York, and internationally in London, Germany, Canada and Japan.

With his wife and creative partner, he currently runs Fontana Studios, a multi-media art and design studio in Portland, Oregon. He has designed and licensed work for a number of companies including SCION Installation Art Tour, Patagonia, Nike, Toyota, Kid Robot, Upper Playground, Supreme Being, Quiksilver, Ocean Pacific, KFC International, and Arbor Snowboards. Recently, on May 14th 2011, Blaine was asked to create a custom stage installation for a Portland TEDx talk along with presenting a speech about the project at the event.

Blaine Fontana received his BFA in Communication Art/Design from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA in 2002. He was awarded “Best in Show” for his senior thesis project, and is one of only seven distinguished alumni from 2000-2010. He is currently an Advisory Board member for the Northwest College of Art.

Alessandro Barbucci began his comic career at the age of 18. The early part of his career consisted of creating nearly 1200 pages for Disney Editions. During 1997-1998 Barbucci shared his skills on teaching comic technique at the Accademia Disney in Milan. In 1997 Barbucci and Barbara Canepa, in collaboration with best-seller novelist Elisabetta Gnone, created a new magazine called W.I.T.C.H. The award-winning publication, with over 50 millions copies sold in more than 100 countries, is ranked number four in worldwide magazine sales. The duo was also the artistic look behind the popular children's comic series MONSTER ALLERGY, wich was originally published by Soleil in France and Egmont in Germany. The series is adapted in a two-season animated series produced by Rainbow, Futurikon and disney Channel and later picked up by Warner Bros. making it the first european animated series that the company has purchased. Barbucci and Canepa are currently working on the popular series SKY DOLL, published by Soleil in France and Marvel in the USA.

Rainy Day

… Rainy day … I saw few people waiting the heavy rains stop sooner or getting light... I’m riding back, cause I don’t care about it, might be I use to it. Seems people always remind me, cars or others big vehicles bear to see you on the road. Nowadays it becomes worst if some modification on them light not suitable for the fog even rainy day. So my plan really is simple. If the distances are shorten then 15minute ride. I rather got through it with some condition. First, where the shortest road with few cars on speed or most probably jammed. You be able saw the red light because they stepping on their brake and not intent to maneuver or moving. Keep in mind your speed cause it may destruct by waters on the road and most likely road are slippery and have a lot of water on that. Focus and focus. But my advices... don’t follow me. LOL.. I’m not responsible on that because they lot a risk on the road.

Talking about rain... when skies turn gray and the rain falls, kids often find themselves bored and cranky. Try these creative ideas to help spur your imagination, boost everyone's spirits, and chase those rainy day blues away. But mine? It was enjoyable moment when I was a kid. Its depending where do you live... but I will going out side anyway and beware of lightning even in a light rain, you should avoid streams, rivers, and any large drains or run-off areas.

Play football in the rains... the best sliding moment even you didn’t plan to slide it was enjoyable fall.
Riding bicycle in dirt road... it more fun when it raining.
Make a paper boat, and let it float in the small drain.
Lots of animal you will see getting the save place.
Who’s wearing white? :-)
Rainbows come out...

But sometimes I do just ignoring the rainy and enjoying foods at home. Some foods are enjoyable when it’s raining especially with hot drink or soup.
