Fuck the “How to Blog” blogs and fuck all the “Top 10” posts. Fuck live blogging events, writing EVERYTHING that goes on stage and then have the guts to call it reporting. Fuck the Vlogs with the celebrity wannabes and their 15 minutes of fame needs. You are not fooling anyone!

Fuck the social media power users with their thousands and thousands of friends and fuck the self proclaimed social experts who charge you hundred of dollars for creating a linkbait article and posting it to digg, StumbleUpon, reddit or Mixx. Fuck all the bookmarking services and the social media news sites, with their attention deficit disorder users who can’t stay on one page for more than 30 seconds, and then claiming to be multitaskers living in a never ending developing era of the information superhighway age. Oh yeah, fuck the commenters on digg.

Fuck the websites that call themselves social, just because users can post comments on their site, and fuck all the major brands that think they understand viral advertising, after they watched the 50 most viewed videos on YouTube. Just create good products, you morons! Fuck YouTube, vimeo, veoh, DailyMotion and MetaCafe. Fuck you all with your homemade bloopers, the how-to guides, the mashups to famous pieces, the funny pranks you did to your friends. Fuck all the lip-syncs to songs I never wanted to hear in the first place. It has no real meaning, it has no real value! Fuck Mentos and Diet Coke, fuck ninjas and pirates, fuck Numa Numa and OK GO, fuck Chuck Norris and Lolcats. I don’t wanna fucking have cheezburger! Fuck Internet memes. You are the real virus of our civilization.

Fuck facebook. Fuck you with the pokes, the events I confirm but never attend to, the wall and the super wall, the applications, the pages, the gifts, the status updates and the motherfucking comments on the fucking status updates. Fuck my friends that change their statuses every few minutes. Just pick one and stick to it, for crying out loud! Fuck you and your privacy issues, your terms and conditions and your advertisements. Fuck it with all the buzz and the press it gets, with its followers and real-time updates, with the “What are you doing?” 140 characters microblogging shit and the fake celebrities’ accounts. Fuck @ and #, and DM. Fuck retweeting and tweetup, twitpic and twihrl. Fuck all the plugins, the browser add-ons, the Adobe Air applications and every single service that uses the twitter API. It’s really easy to harness something successful, but please try to invent something new, will you?! Fuck twitter’s revenue models and fuck their fund-raising rounds. So they’re going to make a whole lot of money one day, that’s really awesome, whoopy-fucking-do! Fuck the conversation about whether or not Google will buy twitter, if blogging is dead because of it, or if it’s the next search engine. No, really, is there anyone out there that really cares?

Fuck the Microsoft and Yahoo! forever talks about a merger. Just make up your mind already! What the fuck is taking you so long when you know it’s the right thing to do? Just please put us all out of our miseries. Fuck Jerry Yang and Eric Schmidt, fuck Evan Williams and Mark Zuckerberg, fuck Kevin Rose and Chad Hurley. Fuck Markus Frind and all the other 20 something slumdog millionaires that had too much spare time on their hands, and thought they understand where the web is heading, but basically just were in the right place, in the right time, and got really damn lucky.

Fuck Michael Arrington. Who died and made you the king? What makes you think you are entitled to declare wars on things you don’t like? Fuck TechMeme and TechCrunch, Valleywag and Ars Technica, mashable and ReadWriteWeb, GigaOM and Scobleizer, Engadget and Gizmodo. And while we’re on the subject, fuck Robert Scoble, Jason Calacanis, and Loic Le Meur with their tens of thousands of followers and their so-called deep understanding of the social graph. Whatever the social graph is. Fuck your private conversations, your blog posts and your egocentric, self petting updates. I hope you all get aggregated into one feed and get deleted by accident when Google Reader will break down. Fuck all the aggregation services, that aggregate the aggregated aggregation of things that really don’t need to be aggregated. I don’t fucking need all my social services showing up on one place. I’m truly happy with just where they are right now.

Fuck all venture capital funded startups with their new and improved social networks dedicated to a specific niche group, and their funny odd website names that mean “Peace” in Swahili. Do you know what “kuma mamako” means in Swahili? Fuck the current economic depression and fuck the bubbles bursting. Fuck the companies that layoff people, just because they hired too many in the first place and they have to answer to their investors. Fuck this whole Web2.0 sphere and everyone in it. From the tagging to the comments, from the posts to the feeds. From the lowercase capital letters to the intended spelling mistakes. Let an earthquake crumble it, let the fires rage, let it burn to fucking ash and then let the waters rise and submerge this whole rat-infested place.

The film’s entire plot structure is maybe a little too similar to The Matrix - some guy finds out he’s one-in-a-million with super crazy powers and he must join a group of people who will train him to use these powers against evil. Angelina-Trinity saves his life and takes him to Morpheus-Freeman who explains their secret world to him and through brutal training he teaches him to dodge bullets, or in this case make bullets dodge other things.

But all in all, the action is fun enough and this is a great summer-action-flick.

This is something I always wanted to do and now it’s really dead simple to accomplish. If you ever wanted to change the default shortcuts in the open/save dialogues of Windows (2000/ME/XP/Vista) and Office (2000/XP/2003/2007), but never knew exactly how to do it, this software is for you.

PlacesBar Editor is a software program that fills exactly this need that Microsoft left behind. This utility allows you to change them to be any folder you want.

Just install the program, click on the “Test” button to see what all of the above gibberish means and then change it to your favorite folders in both Office shortcuts and Windows ones.

How to Use Daemon Tools?

1. Download Daemon Tools program - although the new 4.x version deals with almost all protections and has some addons you can install, I still prefer the old version 3.47 as the new version comes with a 3d party advertising application (you can choose not to install it, it’s not spyware).

2. Install it.

3. Start it.

4. Right click on the new Daemon icon on the task bar.

5. Go to “Virtual CD/DVD-ROM” -> Set number of devices -> Choose your desired number of virtual drives -> Please wait.

6. Go to “Virtual CD/DVD-ROM” -> Device 0 [G:] No Media -> Mount Image -> Browse to the directory where you hold the image file (ISO, CUE, CCD, NRG, BWT, CDI, B5T, MDS, PDI) -> Please wait.

7. That’s it! You now have a new drive called G: and it contains all the files in the original image file and you can use the drive as you would have used a burned CD or DVD.

8. If you want to cancel the mounting, just select the “Unmount all drives” option under the Virtual CD/DVD-ROM menu.

4. Clipro is only for videos, but it’s really cool. and Clipshack let’s you upload your movies and pictures from your cell phone.

5. If you want to share other files and not just images or videos, eSnips let’s you do it. Upload any file (up to 10meg) and share it with your friends.

6. With BubbleShare you can design a story album with your pictures and your own voice. Really cool to do with your vacation pictures or after a freinds gathering.

7. Carbonmade is directed to more proffesional artists that would like to show off their portfolio to the world. But it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it too.

8. Pixrat is a little different than the above. It allows you to bookmark and tag photos from around the web. They define themselves as “social photo bookmarking tool”. If you like seeing pictures more they you like taking them, try their site.

If you’ll follow the next steps, you can delete the file and it won’t come back:

Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View (tab) -> Under “File and Folders” mark the option “Do no cache thumbnails”.

That’s it, you can easily delete any thumbs without a problem and they will never return. We recommend not to delete the thumbs file from folders that contain many images or movies files, or it will take much longer to access the folders.

1. Last Words is a site dedicated to the last words people said, just before leaving this world. You can find many saying from famous people, fictional characters, famous epitaphs and famous farewells. If you always wanted to know what Thomas Jefferson said just before he left, this is the place for you.

2. OxymoronList holds the largest list of oxymorons (contradictory words) ever created online. You can find some really funny saying there if you go over their database, like “Anarchy Rules”, “Escaped Inmate”, “Tax Free” and many many others.

3. Insults.net will teach how to swear in every language. For example, if you wanted to tell a Rusiian guy to eat shit and die, you would need to use this sentence: kooshite govno ee oomeeite. The site also teaches you how to act insulting, explains how to make genre insults and has many information about insulting people in general.

4. Things People Said collects, well, things people said around the world - slips and gaffes from newspapers, ads, fortune cookies, letter and forms, things kids say, stupid labels and quotes and many stuff famous people said. Some of the things people are saying is really funny, while others are just embarrassing.

5. DayofBirth will let you know exactly what happened the day you were born (or any other dat, you’ll enter). It will tell you what day you were born on, how many days/minutes/seconds you’ve been alive, who was also burn on the same day as you and what historical events happened on that day. It can’t get more useless than this.

6. Murphy-Laws presents all Murphy’s saying in every category or topic. Murphy’s Laws in tech, law, computer, commerce, real-estate, cop, war, mothers, cars and many more. After you browsed through all the site and said to yourself “wow, he’s right” at least 15 times, you can also post your own sayings to the site.

7. rhymer is a free online rhyming dictionary. Yes, exactly what you think it is - you give it a word and the rhymer tells you which words can be rhymed with it. You can choose end rhymes, last syllable rhymes, beginning rhymes and first syllable rhymes. Love, for example, rhymes with the following words: above, dove, foxglove, glove, octave, olive, shove.

8. List of problems solved by MacGyver can be found on Wikipedia and it’s also a very informative piece of web page, but no one can actually do anything with all this information. Nevertheless, it’s always interesting to learn how MacGyver fixes a broken fuel line with a ball point pen or how by using parts of a microscope and a drop of water, MacGyver is able to read microfilm.

9. IdiomSite will explain to you why you say the things you say, what it means and what’s the origin of the saying. “All Your Base Are Belong to Us” for example, is from a Japanese video game called “Zero Wing”. Learn why people are saying a bad hair day, mum’s the word or push the envelope.

The list is not sorted in any particular way.

1. A new site, called Orchestrate is really the simplest way to keep track of a number of task lists. When you’ll first arrive to the site, it will empty and you’ll have to build your own task lists and to-do lists. It’s a very basic application, but it has everything a normal human being needs, without all other useless features, these organizers usually have.

2. If you’re a movie fan and either collect movies or just want to keep track on what you saw, you’d really like Be Ajaxilicious. It’s basically an online movie catalogue - just type in the name of the movie and it will had it to your list, including all data needed from IMDB. After you add the movies you can enter your rating and tag the movie ass you wish. After you added your movies, you can share your list with all your friends and they’ll never ask you for a recommendation again (not sure if that’s a good thing…).

3. If you want to save your bookmarks online, there are just too many options to use. del.icio.us is the most common and probably the easiest to use, but you can also try LookLater which has a really easy to use interface using a bookmarklet - it’s amazingly simple to use and we found it quite helpful. You can bookmark any link, picture or page in a second and it doesn’t even require an e-mail to register.

4. Online Calendars are also becoming more and more popular, with the launch of the Google Calendar, but 30 Boxes is really much easier and looks better, but you might also want to check Kiko before making your final decision. Also, if you’re looking for a way to store your contacts, you might want to check your options with Plaxo.

5. LibraryThing is like Be Ajaxilicious from above, only for your books. It’s also really easy to use and you just enter the title of the book and it’s added to your list. You can also tag it, but it’s not really needed if you’re not into tagging. You can also find more books you’d like and recommendations, but we’re here to sort not to find more things to do…

6. Managing your images and files online tools and sites, can be found in one of our previous posts - here.

7. To manage your life goals, check out 43 Things. You can read what other people goals are and how they are trying to accomplish them. It’s kind of cool, although we don’t feel you really need it to manage your goals, we simply never forget our goals.

We’re not saying that the films aren’t interesting anymore (but we won’t blame those who do say it) just that the media should advance and join the revolution. Or evolution. The current media leaders will have to start realizing that content should be first and foremost - free. When it’s free they can start billing for all the extras it comes with, or just give us more commercials, we’re used to it. Maybe we even like it.

Anyway, the current post collects a few of the sites we get our movies and TV information fix from (not the shows and movies themselves, we’re saving this for later). The list is not sorted in any particular way.

1. IMDB - Yes, we know everyone knows this site already, weI just wanted to thank it for existing.

2. The TV IV is probably a little less known. It’s based on the Wikipedia idea that basically anyone can edit, change or add their own stuff. Although the data there is not reliable as TV.com for example, the TV IV has a more than you may first suspect. Checking up their Lost page, is just one way to understand what it is exactly.

3. If you have some time to spare and you think you’ll like movie quizzes, Filmwise is the best place to go to. There’s text quizzes, invisible quizzes (you’ll understand what it means when you’ll visit the site) and great movies quotes.

4. Television Without Pitty and Rotten Tomatoes is where we go before we decide if we want to see a television show or a movie.

5. If you want to find more movies and shows you will probably like and you’re not aware of it, you can try Criticker. All you have to do is rate films and the Criticker will than show you more films based on the people that their choices were similar to yours. It’s fun even if you don’t find new movies using it (don’t we just love rating things?).

6. And finally, VCD Quality that has a terrible name that suits the 90s. VCD Quality is a release news site. It tells us when a movie or a show is available in the file-sharing software close to your heart and how to search for it. We don’t know how legal this is, but it must be, due to the fact it exists a few years already.

All the plugins are easily installed, just follow the instructions on the plugin page and you shouldn’t have any problems what so ever. If there’s a plugin that needs more than 20 minutes of your day, it isn’t listed here, no matter what it does or how it does it.

1. Aksimet stops comment spamming - when you’ll start blogging and your sites traffic will start to grow, you’ll get more and more spam, until it will be undefetable. Aksimet is the best tool to stop comment spamming and after you’ll start using Aksimet, you won’t believe how simple it is to stop spam.

2. Bad Behavior stops spambots from visiting your site - this plugin stops spammers from harvesting your site for e-mails, posting false referrers and also from being visited by a spambot that it’s job is to basically - spam your site. This is another good step against spammers that you should take, before posting your first post.

3. FeedBurner lets you track your RSS feed subscription statistics - now that you started blogging and you have a RSS feed, you’d want to know how many people subscribed to it and a few statistics about them. Just go the the FeedBurner site and enter your WordPress RSS feed URL and FeedBurner gives you an alternate RSS URL that you should replace with the one WordPress gives you (you can use the next plugin for this).

4. FeedBurner Feed Replacement will replace WordPress RSS feed with FeedBurner - if you’ll install this plugin before you start posting, it will make your life much easier, but even if you forgot to install it, now is the time! This plugin will replace all subscription made to the WordPress RSS with the FeedBurner feed and forward all future ones, giving you the ability to track your subscription statistics.

5. Evermore will give you the option to display short previews of your post on your homepage and categories - I’ve been searching for a plugin like this for a long time and it’s perfect. You can decide on how many paragraphs the preview will show, how many characters and add the “Read more” at the end of each of the post preview.

6. Google Analytics will give all the statistical information you’ll need - track how many users visits your pages, how many page views, how many unique visitors, see where your users are coming from, what keywords they search to find you, create your own customized goals and optimize your blog using the results. This is really a must have tool for any serious blogger.

7. Ajax Comments will give your comments a cool web2.0/ajax look - this plugin is more for the look and feel of the site and less for it’s usability, but it’s really good, easily installed and does exactly what it’s supposed to be - shows the added comment without refreshing the page. Simple, yet very powerful.

8. Related Posts will show related entries by keywords - after you’ll have more than a few posts, some of them will probably be related to each other, some only by category and some by the keywords. You can see exactly what Realted Posts does on this page (scroll down, beofre the comments and after Google’s Ads).

9. Google Sitemaps Generator will build a sitemap for Google - you don’t need to know what it means, you all need to know that you need it. Basically speaking, it helps Google go through your site and therefor it’s good for appearing in search results. If you don’t want the search engines to know your blog exist, you don’t have to install it.

10. Sociable lets you add icons to many bookmarking sites - you know these little buttons at the end of every post? In my case it’s - digg, del.icio.us, BlinkList, Reddit, Furl, YahooMyWeb, simpy, feedmelinks and Ma.gnolia. This little icons gives your users the ability to instantly keep a bookmark of your site in their favorite bookmarking site and also post your article on sites like digg and Reddit.

11. WordPress Database Backup is really important - if you’re going to play a lot with your plugins, themes and your blog in general, you’d might want to install this first. This plugin will backup all your pages, comments, posts, categories and links to either your site’s server, your e-mail or your personal computer.

12. Static front page displays a specific page on your homepage - the default for WordPress is to show your last post on top of the front page, but if you want to have a specific page shown permanently on the front page, you’ll need this plugin. It’s extremely easy to use and it’s a great way to organize all your posts data for your readers.

1. Choose a hosting service and get a domain name - because you don’t know almost anything about servers, domains, ftp and sql, you’d want to purchase a server that has an auto-installation of all kinds of features that will help you build your site in the easiest way possible. BlueHost is the service I selected, but there are many others that support auto-installation (this post uses BlueHost for explanations).

2. Choose a blog authoring tool - the blog authoring tool is a web interface that let’s you manage the appearance of the blog, post your articles, add pictures, pages, control the look and feel and so on. It’s really important that you’ll selecet the right authoring tool for your site, becuase you probably want a very easy to use interface that allows you to customize your blog as much as possible, but with out giving you a big headache. WordPress is the one I choose, as it’s really easy to use and it’s fully customizable (this post uses WordPress for explanations).

3. Auto install WordPress - by now at this stage, you have your own domain name, your own server and you choose a blog authoring tool. If you choose BlueHost and WordPress, you can just log in to you account in BlueHost and go to Fantastico (Auto-Installs) and then choose WordPress auto install and then “New Installation” (currently 2.0.4). You’ll have to choose where you want to install it on, so if you want to install the blog to a sub-domain, you should add a sub-domain before auto installing. Enter your administrator username, password, nicname, e-mail, blog’s description and install WordPress.

4. Setup WordPress - after you auto installed WordPress, you should go to your admin log on page, located on http://www.yoursite.com/wp-login.php (if you installed WordPress on the main domain) and log in with your administrator username and password and you’ll see your Dashboard. The dashboard is like the backoffice for your blog, where you post your posts, edit comments, change site’s look and feel (replace templates and install plug-ins), manage the blog users, create your blogroll and so on.

5. Personalizing your blog - now that you have a running blog you can start posting your thoughts and words to the world. The basic WordPress theme comes with RSS support, with a ready-made blogroll (that you can change in a minute), an about page and one simple post. After a while, you’d probably want your blog to look unique - you can get many free templates from the WordPress theme database and also check this list for more than 980 free wordpress themes. But if you’re looking for a unique WordPress theme customized espacially for you (meaning a theme that no one else uses) check out MonsterTemplates WordPress themes, they have really cheap prices and they do an amazing job.

6. Install the basic and must-have WordPress plugins - now you need tostart your search for WordPress plugins that you need. Because WordPress is an open source program, you’ll find thousands of plugins and widgets for WordPress by simply searching for them - you can also check out my post on how to start blogging part two - basic must have plugins and tools for WordPress for the very first steps in your plugin search.

First, I am sure that we are making the correct decision to lower the price of the 8GB iPhone from $599 to $399, and that now is the right time to do it. iPhone is a breakthrough product, and we have the chance to ‘go for it’ this holiday season. iPhone is so far ahead of the competition, and now it will be affordable by even more customers. It benefits both Apple and every iPhone user to get as many new customers as possible in the iPhone ‘tent’. We strongly believe the $399 price will help us do just that this holiday season.

Second, being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever. This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you’ll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon. The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Apple tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced.

Third, even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.

Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned.

All you have to do is sign up to the site, and every once in  a while, you’ll get an e-mail saying they have a task for you. You then go to the site, digg or stumble the pages they sent you to and your are paid $0.5 for every task done. Now, it may not sound a lot, but if you only have a few accounts and a few spare minutes every day, this could be some nice pocket money at the end of the day.

Yes, of course this means you’re going to have to vote for things you don’t want to, but most of the articles and pages they send you to, are usually quite good, and there are only a few cases of rubbish posts. Check it out - Subver and Profit.

We always knew it was possible, but not that it’s this simple! This can probably help people who want to use different softwares and services online that are usually restricted to the locals and not only for just viewing the above online TV. This little IP and proxy tweak also makes your surfing much more secure and anonymous.

1. In IE -> Choose Tools -> Choose Internet Options -> Go to Connections (tab) -> Press LAN Settings (button) -> mark the “Use a proxy server for your LAN…” -> In the IP Address field, enter the IP (use 206.107.155.137 for US services, 62.171.219.179 for UK services) -> In the Port field, enter the port (US - 8080, UK - 80) -> Press OK (button) -> Press OK again (button).

Now the designer of a table and set of chairs says his furniture embodies that philosophy.

The furniture is called fuwa pica, which loosely translated means ’soft and flashy’. It senses people’s presence, then gradually changes colour accordingly.

The interactive set, which could be in shops, airports, museums, or bars within a year or two, uses technology to extend people’s emotional state into a room that may be devoid of ancient ideas.

Mr Pesci, an Italian amateur scholar, discovered the finding and claims that the superimposed image shows a goblet in front of Jesus Christ - perhaps a depiction of his blessing of bread and wine - and transforms two of the people sitting at the table into knights.

I love these tips, so I decided I should aggregate them all in one place and also searched for a few more tips and hacks from people who already passed a few things in their life, and gathered what you should learn from them. Have fun:

Charles Sykes (author of “Dumbing Out Our Kids”):

1. Life is not fair; get used to it.
2. The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself.
3. You will not make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice president with a car phone until you “earn” both.
4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure.
5. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger-flipping; they called it opportunity.
6. If you screw up, it’s not your parents’ fault so don’t whine about your mistakes. Learn from them.
7. Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way paying your bills, cleaning your room, and listening to you tell them how idealistic you are. So before you save the rain forest from the blood-sucking parasites of your parents’ generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
8. Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades, they’ll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This, of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.
9. Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off, and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
10. Television is not real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
11. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

Baz Lurhman (writer of “Everybody’s Free”):

1. Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine.
2. Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

11. Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
12. Get plenty of calcium.
13. Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
14. Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself, either. Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
15. Enjoy your body, use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.
16. Dance. Even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
17. Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
18. Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
19. Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
20. Be nice to your siblings; they are your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
21. Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography in lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
22. Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
23. Travel.
24. Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
25. Respect your elders.
26. Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you’ll have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
27. Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you’re 40, it will look 85.
28. Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
