At the end of March '25 hubby and I went on a cruise to Italy and Malta. It was wonderful and we definitely loved the days when we took a trip in the morning and came back around lunchtime to spend the rest of the day on the sun deck with a drink and a good book. So I thought: 
Why not do that at home as well? Yes, there is some prep-time but I think that's time well spend for a day off!
So let's dive in.

Home Cruise Day

Imagine, when you go into your garden or onto your balcony you are actually not in the garden or on the balcony but on the deck of a ship. Can you imagine to be somewhere else? Of course it doesn't only work as a home cruise day. You can dream to be in a nice cabin (aka on your sofa or in a 5 Stars Hotel where you have a pizza coming to your door - it's all about your imagination!

The Idea Behind a Home Cruise Day

A Home Cruise Day is a gentle reminder that rest doesn’t have to be booked, packed, or rushed. It’s the art of pretending you’re on a ship somewhere along a warm coastline—while you’re actually at home, wrapped in sunlight, comfort, and calm.

No schedules.
No pressure.
Just the soft feeling of being away.

You recreate the atmosphere of a cruise day: a sunbed instead of a deck chair, your balcony or garden as the ocean view, a slow drink in your hand, YouTube quietly playing coastal scenery, and a book you’ve been waiting to read. It’s intentional escapism—and it works beautifully.

How to Set Up Your Home Cruise Day

1. Choose Your “Destination”

Search YouTube for “coastal cruise view,” “ocean balcony ambience,” or “slow sea waves 4K” and let it play in the background. You can keep the music of the video or turn the sound off and play some nature sounds in the background. Relaxing music is also nice!

2. Create Your Cruise Atmosphere

3. The Ritual: No Multitasking Allowed

• Snack slowly

• Close your eyes

You may not:

• Answer emails

• Clean

• Scroll aggressively

Think sea day, not to-do day.

Sweet Strawberry Iced Tea (Cruise-Style)

• 250 g fresh (or frozen) strawberries
• 2–3 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
• Juice of ½ lemon
• Ice cubes
• Fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

1. Bring the water to a boil and steep the tea bags for 5–7 minutes. Remove tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
2. Wash the strawberries, remove the stems, and blend them into a smooth puree.
3. Stir the strawberry puree, honey (or sugar), and lemon juice into the tea.
4. Chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.
5. Serve over ice, garnish with mint and a strawberry slice.

Cruise upgrade: Add a splash of sparkling water right before serving.

And now an afternoon snack!

Easy Oven-Baked Nachos (Perfect for Sharing)

• 6 tbsp salsa sauce
• 100 g grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

Instructions

1. Slice the tomatoes and olives.
2. In an ovenproof dish, layer:
   • Nacho chips
   • Beans
   • Tomatoes & olives
   • Sour cream & salsa
3. Repeat layers once more.
4. Finish with grated cheese on top.
5. Bake at 180°C (fan) for 20 minutes, until bubbly and golden.

Serve warm—and eat slowly, like you have all afternoon.

DIY Printing & Assembly: From Screen to Craft Table

You don’t need to be a crafting pro to turn these printables into beautiful cards and tags. One of the joys of print-and-cut crafts is how simple it can be – and we’re here to guide you with a mini tutorial. Gather your supplies (printer, paper, scissors, maybe a hole punch) and get ready to craft some holiday magic at home:

1. Download Your Files: First, download the printable card or tag files to your computer. If you’re a Pepper Printable Club member, you can grab them from the club library; otherwise, download them from the shop after purchase. Save the files somewhere easy to find (like your Desktop or a special “Christmas Printables” folder).
2. Choose the Right Paper & Print Settings: For the cards, use good quality cardstock – something sturdy so your cards feel substantial. For the gift tags, cardstock works great too, or you could try a matte photo paper for really vibrant colours. (If you have self-adhesive label paper and want sticker tags, that’s an option as well!) Open the PDF or JPG and set your printer to its highest quality setting (often called “Best”).
   Print in color at 100% scale (no scaling) on the cardstock – this ensures the artwork prints at the correct size and the colours come out beautifully vibrant and true.
3. Cut & (For Cards) Fold: Once printed, let the ink dry for a minute to avoid smudges. Then, grab a pair of sharp scissors or a paper trimmer. Cut out each card and tag carefully along the guideline or edge of the design. The cards are designed to be folded – for example, the Santa card is provided as an A4 that you fold into an A5 card. So after cutting, gently fold the card in half; you can score the fold lightly first for a neater edge. For tags, no folding needed.
4. Add Finishing Touches: For the tags, a couple of quick extra steps will make them gift-ready. Use a small hole punch to punch a hole at the top of each tag. Then thread a piece of twine, ribbon, or cozy string through the hole. You might choose rustic jute twine for a farmhouse feel or a red satin ribbon for a pop of Christmas color. Tie the tags onto your wrapped presents, gift bags, mason jars of cookie mix – whatever you’re gifting. The result is an instant dose of homemade charm! (Tip: If you’re using the cards, pair them with an A5 envelope or craft an envelope yourself from pretty paper. Handwrite a message inside – your genuine words + a handmade card equals holiday magic.)

That’s it – download, print, cut, and assemble. In just a few easy steps, you’ve created heartfelt DIY Christmas cards and tags that look like they came from a boutique, but are made by you. Step 1: Choose Your Wrapping Theme

Before you start, decide on a simple color palette or theme for your gifts.
Here are a few ideas to inspire you:

But here’s the truth: as beautiful as this season is, it also flies by in a heartbeat. Between school routines, work, and everyday life, it’s easy to miss those small, magical moments that make autumn feel so special.

Step-by-Step: How to Create Your Fall Memory Jar

Step 1 – Print Your Memory Cards

Download and print your Fall Memory Jar Printable Kit on high-quality paper (around 200–250 gsm works best).

The set includes:

• memory cards in two designs (lined + blank)

• a printable jar label (“Our Fall Memories”)

• mini photo frame templates (2x2 inch)

Cut out each piece with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Step 2 – Label Your Jar

Attach your printable Our Fall Memories label to your jar.
If you’re using a basket or box, tie it on with a piece of twine for a rustic look.
This little detail makes the project feel like something special — a family tradition in the making.

That image is a fall memory from our garden. That bush is called "Evita" because it was named like this by the garden center. We bought it because of "her" name - "she" was very (and I mean very!) small and we didn't think she would survive (but "she" was the only one!) - now the bush is about three meters and the leaves are pretty sharp.

Step 3 – Collect Memories All Season Long

Every few days, write down a favorite fall moment on one of your cards:

“We baked apple muffins together.”
“Our walk in the rain turned into a dance.”
“Grandma taught us her pumpkin soup recipe.”

Add the card to your jar — and if you can, slip in a small 2x2 photo to go with it. Watching the jar fill up is a joy all by itself!
