Success. I’m using two backslashes in the cfg, for the windows path, and I’m now able to use a crontab anywhere.

(The reason being is that I need to access the crontab.txt from my laptop remotely, so that I could shut off/on an annoying soundwave file to mess with the asshole neighbors, but only when they sleep)

Have you had success with changing the crontab_filename setting in pycron.cfg to point to a crontab.txt in a different directory ?

My events don’t get launched when I try that.

All of the spam comments I get are caught by Akismet, which is bundled with Wordpress. If you are using something other than Wordpress it will most likely be worth moving over to it.

Hi nice post, i read your blog from time to time but i was wondering something. I also run a blog on a similar topic, but i get 1,000’s of spam comments and emails every day does that happen to you.. Any ideas to stop it? I currently have commenting disabled but i want to turn it back on.. Thanks!

You would go into the label “..filter..” and find a way to classify each email. Like say you have 50 emails showing at a time, and 25 of the emails on the first page are from your mom. Create a filter for Family and have your emails from mom go there automatically. Once you have setup a filter and applied the Family label to them you should remove the “..filter..” label. It will take time, but if you do all of this early you will be much happier. I get hundreds of emails a day, and if I had not set up filters early on I would have a lot of mail that had no label making it much harder to classify later.

There is an argument that you don’t want a filter or label for each mailing list or source, but you want to use search instead. I prefer lots of filters and labels instead of searching for emails. Having the label for a specific list show up in the inbox helps me know immediately if I need to read the email.

Hi Peter,
I would like to use your method but I can’t seem to get it to work.

Create a new label “..filter..” and go into “All Mail”. Click the “All” link to select all of the email and then click the link to select all of the emails in “All Mail”. Label all of the emails with the new “..filter..” label.

Once all of that has been done, go down through your existing labels and select all emails and remove the “..filter..” label.
—> Before this step, I have all my email with the label “..filter..”
Am I suppose to select all the emails again and then go into the drop down list and select remove “..filter..”? All this would do is remove the label from all messages.

That is another way, but it depends on how many labels you have. Most of my accounts have more labels than I want to put in a search box. The account for this domain has over 50 labels. If you only have 10-20 it would be a fine way of weeding out the emails.

another way is to use the “-label:xxx” search tag, e.g. do a full search that excludes all current labels (just do it once and save the string).

As a designer I never had the time to learn .net however as a designer when I see an ASP, PHP or .NET written by a messy programmer I have to keep my mouth shut as I am not really qualified to criticise despite my classic ASP being incredibly lite weight, ultra speedy with no repetition.
