Huawei just announced a new Android smartphone ‘Vision’ in Beijing. This awesome looking phone might not have dual core power, but it does have decent internals, and we are expecting an affordable pricing. Powered by Qualcomm’s 1 GHz processor, it comes with Android 2.3, 5MP camera, and 512MB RAM. Huawei Vision will be available in selected markets from September.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini launching together with Xperia Mini Pro in India

So, it's not just Mini Pro, which will land in India –we will also see Xperia Mini launching next week and if we believe SE India site – it might have already started reaching stores.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini comes with pretty decent set of specs; it features 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3 inch display, 5MP camera and Android 2.3.

While the pricing of the smartphone is unclear right now; considering that Mini Pro is selling for INR 15K, Mini might be sold somewhere around INR 14K – More on which should become clear next week.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro up for pre-order, launching next week in India

Waiting for little Androids from Sony Ericsson, then you are in luck. It seems Sony Ericsson is going to launch at least one of them – Xperia Mini Pro in India next week.

Pro is now available for pre-order at Flipkart for INR 15,099, not bad for a phone that comes with 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon under the hood. Other features of the phone include Android 2.3, 5MP camera, front facing camera, 3 inch Reality display with Bravia Engine and 512 MB RAM.

Sony Experia Mini Pro is listed for an estimated release next week.

5 Upcoming LG Android Smartphones Leaked

According to the reports by Pocketnow, LG has planned some serious Android action in this half of the year, and it will not be limited to recently announced LG Optimus Pro and Net. According to a big leak coming from PocketNow, LG is expected to launch six new Android Phones in the 2nd half of this year.

These smartphones include Prada K2, Univa, Victor, E2 and LG K. These are expected to be code names; while some of these can become actual names.

LG Prada K2: Dual core Processors, 4.3 inch NOVA display, 8.8mm thickness, 8MP primary camera, 1.3 MP front camera, Android 2.3 and HSPA+ connectivity.

LG Univa: 800 MHz processor, 3.5 inch display, 5MP camera and 11.9 mm thickness along with Android 2.3.

Vodafone has officially launched Webbox in India. Webbox is a QWERTY device, which brings Internet connectivity to your normal television using RCA cables.

Telecom operator is now selling in select cities of Haryana telecom circle, which include Ambala, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Sonipat. Vodafone Webbox has been priced at INR 5,799, which also gets you a 2GB SD card and 12 GB data usage valid for a period of 6 months.

Webbox is Android 2.1 powered, so you get a slew of applications and games, though it does not come with Android market support.

It will soon be rolled out to other parts of India, including the launch of 24 month contract plan to give you Webbox free of cost.

Facebook-centric Android smartphone ChaCha launched in India

HTC launched the second Facebook-centric Android smartphone ChaCha in India. The smartphone will be available for INR 15,990 in the market soon in three different colors black, Purple and White.

HTC ChaCha was first announced at Mobile World Congress this year along with Salsa, which is already available in Indian market for INR 20K.

ChaCha features a dedicated Facebook button, Android 2.3.3, 800 MHz processor, physical QWERTY keyboard, dual cameras, including a 5-megapixel color camera with auto focus and LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera, and 2.6-inch display with 480 x 320 resolution.

The Facebook button on HTC Chacha is context-aware, gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook. With a single press of the button, you can update your status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song you are listening to, ‘check in’ to a location and more.

Data offers from from Tata Docomo: 3G prepaid customers can avail 3GB free data valid for a period of 90 days whereas 1GB free data is offered free each month to postpaid customers across all 3G circles valid for 90 days. All 3G customers will also get 3 hour of free Mobile TV that includes data access charges valid for 90 days.

While Tata DoCoMo 2G prepaid customers can avail 3GB free data and 300 Tata to Tata local calling valid for a period of 90 days whereas 1GB free data and 100 minutes Tata to Tata calling is offered free each month for three months to postpaid customers across all 2G circles.

New revised version of PS3 to output Blu-ray content only over HDMI

According to information garnered from a leaked company memo, the new iteration Sony’s PlayStation 3 which is dubbed the ‘K series’ will no longer support Blu-ray output over analog cables. Current models of the console can deliver full 1080p content over its component-put port; however, if this next revision is implemented, Blu-ray output will be restricted to only HDMI. This continues Sony’s trend of actually removing features from its console since the day of release.

Just like in all other cases, Sony has justification for removing this feature too. Apparently, the company is complying with AACS standards that are restricting output of BD content to ‘interlaced standard definitions’. Furthermore, by the end of 2013 the AACS will prohibit transmission of decrypted AACS content using analog signals. The only silver lining in this new standard is the implementation of Mandatory Media Copy (MMC), which allows the owners of BD to copy content of the disc for use in home theatre systems or digital media players. Currently, Sony maintains that it will not release a firmware update that removes the ability of the console’s older models to deliver BD content over component cables. However, to be on the safe side, do not expect to Sony to shy away from backing up on their words.

Viewsonic to launch two new Android smartphones in India next week

It has been reported by the The Mobile Indian that Viewsonic is all set to launch two new Android smartphones in the market sometime next week. The two phones are the Viewsonic V350 and the Viewsonic Viewpad 4, the former is based on Android 2.2 Froyo while the latter runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The V350 is an active dual-SIM phone which can use both networks at the same time. It has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, 3.5-inch HVGA display, WiFI, Bluetooth 2.1 and A-GPS connectivity. The phone is powered by an 800MHz processor and will be priced at around 17,000 INR.

Next is the Viewpad 4 which although sounds like a tablet, is not one. This smartphone has a 4.1-inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, a front facing camera 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, supports 720p HD video playback and HDMI output. In regards to connectivity it supports WiFI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1and integrated GPS. It will be skinned with the latest version of the ViewScene UI and is expected to be priced at 20,000 INR.

While, these are just the expected prices for both the devices, ViewSonic has mentioned that the devices would be available from Reliance Digital stores, it is unknown whether they have an exclusive agreement.

LG makes Optimus Pro Android smartphone official

LG made the recently leaked Optimus Net official. The smartphone, which is just a name as of now will be released in three different version across the globe. Optimus Net will start launching from Europe this summer followed by other markets, finally reaching to a total of 30 countries.

RIM to unveil seven new BlackBerries soon

Warding off investors' anger at their annual meeting at Waterloo near here Tuesday, BlackBerry co-CEOs announced that seven new smart phones running a new operating system will hit the market soon. Declining market share, shrinking revenue, profit warnings and delays in replacing the aging handsets have triggered investor anger at the two co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis who control management as well as board at the BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM).

Calls for making board independent of management have grown shriller as RIM stock has sunk more than 50 percent this year - hovering at about $27 now. Admitting that RIM faced 'some challenges,' the co-CEOs managed to control investor anger Tuesday, with Lazaridis announcing that seven new BlackBerry smart phones running a new operating system will be unveiled in the coming months. The release of the seven smart phones, including the new BlackBerry Bold, will again catapult the wireless giant into the lead role, he said.
"It (the new Bold) may have delayed us, but we are going to come out ahead," said Lazaridis who started RIM in the 1980s. Warming the hearts of investors, Jim Balsillie added, "Mike and I, along with the executive team, are closely managing this transition and have positioned the company for continued future success."
The new line-up of BlackBerry smart phones will be run by RIM's powerful new operating system used in its PlayBook tablet.

Responding to the prevailing rumours of RIM's takeover by Apple or Microsoft, Balsillie said a rights plan would be put in place in the "blink of an eye'' if a hostile takeover bid was mounted against the company. Assuring investors, he said, "If there is anything that will make you sleep better at night that I can do, I will do it." There have been rumours that cash-rich Apple or Microsoft could buy out RIM whose net worth is now just $14 billion. BlackBerry has sunk from top to the third place in the US smart phone since October under onslaught from Apple's iPhone and Google Android devices.

LG Optimus Pro Leaked, coming soon?

It seems LG is also getting ready to launch a budget portrait QWERTY with Android on-board similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Pro. Spotted in Italy, Optimus Pro is said to be already selling at few shops in the country, but the reports are still unconfirmed.

According to a leaked specs sheet from a flickr user, LG Optimus Pro will feature a 2.8 inch display, 1500 mAh battery, Android 2.3, 3MP camera and usual WiFi and GPS. There is no word on processor, but we would expect something around 800 Mhz in this phone.

We are hoping to see an official announcement from LG regarding the phone soon.

5 Cool Android Tricks

The Android has been a tough competitor to the other Mobile OS in the market. There are already some of the greatest phones running on android. And the list obviously contains symbolic devices like the Samsung Galaxy. The android still is fairly new, so a lot of its users are not entirely familiar with the hidden tokens and surprises holed in by Google. Yes android tricks! And here we will mention five of the coolest tricks that have remained somewhat unknown.

Gesture Search

My favourite in the lot. I myself came across it accidentally and boy is it cool! Basically this trick allows you to search your phone using your fingers to write letters instead of the on screen keyboard. Now what you do is, instead of using the keyboard while searching, tap the little hand symbol on the screen then draw a letter. The OS will register the alphabet and search your phone for entries starting with that letter.
The gesture search can be set to search your entire phone, or specific folders. And there’s its use! I use the gesture search for my folders only, so when I use it, other data does not show up.

Creating Shortcuts and Adding Slots

Another neat android trick! You see use some websites very often and it is a real bother opening the browser every time. Android has the option of creating shortcuts to websites on your home screen. Simply press and hold the site in your browser’s bookmarks and select “Add Shortcut to Home” and the website will be added in a slot on your home page. Now the problem is slots get filled up. To get more slots, download the app “UltimateFaves Carousel” from Google Market. This app will allow you to add 16 new icons to each slot and will manage them in an efficient 3D rotating viewer.

Other Browsers

Although the Android browser put in by Google does an impressive job, but there are some other very interesting browsers in the market. My favourite is the Dolphin Browser. This app allows you to download videos from YouTube to your phone! The browser is fully compatible with social networks and allows the user to sync bookmarks with other browsers. PS3 and iPhone hacker hired by Facebook

Social network Facebook has hired a computer hacker who was recently sued by Sony for hacking the online game system PlayStation 3, The Sun reported. Facebook, however, did not reveal what 21-year-old George Hotz will do for the firm. Hotz - also known by the alias "GeoHot" - gained notoriety in 2008 when he developed a software for unlocking the iPhone and allowing it to be used by other networks.

He also released instructions on Sony PlayStation 3 that helped owners modify their consoles to run unauthorised applications and pirated games. After Sony sued Hotz, hacker group Anonymous retaliated by bombarding the firm's servers. They also broke into Sony's systems and stole personal information from online accounts of 100 million customers.

Sporting a curved glass oloeophobic screen, the version available in India is priced at Rs. 19,999 and comes with a Super Clear LCD display instead of the AMOLED screen of the original. That's not all.

This went up against the iPhone 4 when it was out last year, the Galaxy S still has plenty of appeal in it. It's down 10 grand from its launch price, and at Rs. 22,900, it's a tantalizing deal.

Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB now priced only at INR 19,990

Here comes some exciting news for Apple iPhone enthusiasts from India. If you have been waiting for the iPhone to get affordable, your wish has been fulfilled. The 8GB iPhone 3GS is now priced 19,990 INR and will be sold unlocked via Aircel and Airtel for GSM users.

The iPhone 4 is already available in the market, but its predecessor is now available at price where various mid-level smartphones are placed. The iPhone 3GS is now going to be a tough competitor for even the best of Android devices, and it would be interesting to see if it triggers a price cut from other manufacturers.

LG brings the Optimus Black to India, priced at INR 20K

Back in April, when LG announced the Optimus 2X the Korean manufacturer also mentioned that the Optimus Black would be making its way to the Indian market sometime later. Well the device is finally available in the India and is priced at 19,990 INR. Apparently this is the lightest high-end Android smartphone, weighing in at just 109 grams.

The Optimus Black runs Android 2.2 FroYo and an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is expected sometime later in the next month. It has a 4-inch NOVA display, 5 megapixel rear camera and a secondary 2 megapixel front facing camera. It is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and includes 2 GB of internal storage.

While the device has decent hardware, it is going to face a lot of heat from the iPhone 3GS now that Apple has brought down the price of the 8GB 19,990 INR. Well, we are yet to get our hands on the device but one thing is for sure, the Optimus Black is going to face tough competition.
