Problem Statement:

The problem that led to the design of this product was that service providers needed a way to transport packages in the area and also transporters needed a way to find packages and shipments that need delivery. After conversations with some SMEs and a few individuals, we concluded that a product with a transparent automated fee that is able to process transportation of multiple packages will help reduce some burden in their businesses.

The Solution:

Reemer logistics app is a delivery application that aims to solve problems that SMEs and individuals face when sending out small and large packages. The company is a start-up based in Lagos, Nigeria that currently runs a manual delivery service. The goal is to automate the system, with a strict focus on the user experience and business requirements. This application aims at connecting users to businesses offering transportation of packages and also transporters to users who have packages that need to be transported.

Research:

I interviewed 15 people (calls, chats, and physical interviews) who were potential target users to know their views and experience using similar applications that exist to know their pain points. The target audience was regular individuals, business owners, online vendors, and manual delivery logistics companies. The result from the interview was as follows:

4 random users often do not have a delivery dispatch rider that can come to pick up their package at that time which they need it sent. They are always told to book a request days before time to allocate a transporter to their area to pick up the item.
5 regular day-to-day individuals rarely use an online service to send out packages but often find it difficult knowing the exact weight of their items which is always a required field to fill when making a request. They always have to get weight updates with the price difference and this is time-wasting.
6 business owners use the manual process but faced some difficulty with delivery time and most times the logistic companies cancel a delivery due to unknown reasons. This makes them always an extra day or more before they get their package delivered.

Key Challenges:

Product Offering Issues

Different logistics services have different user preferences and this depends on the daily task of the business and how they run the business.

Precise Delivery Schedule

Users get frustrated when a service fails, is delayed, or is rescheduled. When downloading similar applications users are influenced by the accuracy of scheduled delivery.

Pricing and Rates

Users have a general idea of prices in the logistics business and they stick to services that they are accustomed to as they are sensitive to prices. So I paid attention to designing a system that attracts the right customers for the business therefore not disrupting the business aim.

Security, Trust, and Insurance

The majority of users are usually skeptical as to the safety of their packages and a money-back guarantee on said packages if things don’t go as planned. Also, the idea of debiting the user before service is rendered or allowing a transporter to complete delivery before the assurance of payment is made is one task I ensured trying to solve in this project.

User Persona.

Next, I used all of the qualitative data I gathered during the research process to create two personas.

Paper Wireframes.

I ran through 3 wireframe iterations before I finally figured the best way to come up with a solution visually.

Onboarding.

Skyee Travels Website Landing Page Case Study

The Challenge:

Create a unique design that portrays human interaction, shows the brand's values, and increases the customer conversion rate.

Scope of Work:

Design the website landing page.

Role:

User Experience Researcher, Designer, and User Interface Designer.

My Goals:

To create a design that meets the user's requirements and improves their experience.
To improve the brand's reputation and amplify brand awareness.
To design a platform that increases customer conversion rate by turning prospects into clients.

UX Research Methods:

Site Audit
Competitive Analysis
User Persona

Site Audit:

I conducted research on the company's goals and values. Heuristic evaluation for testing the site's usability. This was very useful in identifying the previous site's problems and also identifying opportunities.

When evaluating the usability, I checked for 3 measures:

The connection between System and Real-World - On the interface can users understand the words and concepts displayed on the interface.
Flexibility and Efficiency of use - Can it be used by both experienced and inexperienced users?
User's control and Freedom - Can users undo and redo tasks?

Based on these Measures, the main issues are stated below:

No clear information architecture due to the clumsiness of the page.
Users do not have options due to the rigidness of the site.
Lack of human Interactions.

Competitive Analysis:

The competition in the travel and tourism industry is an important factor that puts each agency on its feet. To analyze the merits of a standard website design to the company's growth, I conducted a competitive analysis.

I took a look at the competitors and realized skyee travels previous website was old-fashioned with a weak content structure. However, they offer better packages, and highlighting this with a better website design will enable skyee travels to attract its target audience.

User Persona:

As a travel and tourism agency, they offer services for different users in various age groups, the users have a common goal which is to get the best experience during vacations.

Since most of their clients is from the older generation, they had to be considered in the design of the website. I observed the best practices used in designing for the older generations when working on this project.

Design Solution:

The Hero section - To create a pleasant appearance for visitors, both first-time visitors and existing customers.
The layout of the page - To improve the general layout of the landing page.
The Find out more feature - To make it more visible and obvious to users to easily explore the website.

Wireframes:

I created a list of relevant visual themes for the new landing page after analyzing all data from the UX research.

High Fidelity Design:

I worked with the following UI guidelines to aid better visuals based on the company's goals and the customers that require their service.

Use distinctive colors
Lots of white spaces
Larger UI design elements
A clear navigation structure
Use clear fonts to highlight content.

User Testing:

To test the usability of my design and know if my design solution meets users' requirements, I conducted a usability test with 4 participants. The participants were walked through the journey and questions were asked about their experience.

Measures of the usability test include:

Learnability
Efficiency
Effectiveness
Satisfaction

Key findings from the usability test include:

Users find the interface satisfying and easy to use
Users can quickly complete a task on the platform
Users find the new landing page design user friendly

Conclusion:

The previous design did not align with the company's standards. I have designed a landing page that improves users' experience and communicates the company's values.

Problem Statement:

Many young adults are very busy and have little free time, so they try to speed up the process of securing romantic relationships through dating apps. Unfortunately, they fail to do this. This is because the apps only help initiate chats and not everyone successfully takes it to a physical date.

Research:

The research was conducted in form of a survey. The survey was conducted among 30 single adults. Below are some of the significant data received:

User Personas:

Based on the surveys conducted with several potential users, I formulated two personas:

Pain Point:

As mentioned, the main problem is the difficulty in turning the match made into dates. To solve this problem, I summarized the research into 3 main pain points that cause difficulty for the users.

1. Fear of Rejection: Many young adults are not bold enough to take a chance and offer to meet for a date because of the fear of rejection.

2. Swiping without Purpose: Matching without any goal is very common because swiping requires no commitment. This leads to a match-to-date conversion that is very low.

3. Date's Arrangement: Much thought has to be put into determining a specific place and time.

Sketches:

When I started the project, I was more focused on the main screens. I put a lot of effort into the display of user-profiles and the swiping of the screens.

Wireframes:

At this stage, my focus was more on the functionality and usability of the app. The aim was to create an adventurous experience with as few disturbances as possible.

Final Design:

Onboarding:

Here I made sure the users know the advantage of using the app. They get discounts when they use the app and secure dates.

Main Screen:

I put a lot of thought into getting the pattern right. A pattern that will meet all needs. A user can get 3 dates at a time. This makes them meticulous in picking a date they really want. when the user sees a profile they would go on a date with, they swipe the profile up. Profiles appear in a horizontal carousel, unlike other applications. This means you do not have to decide if you approve or reject people and you can continue scrolling. This solves a big problem as when the user runs out of places on the date spots he can no longer swipe profiles up. He can filter and swipe down profiles from the potential profile list. Once a spot becomes available, the user can swipe up.

Get on that Date:

As soon as two people swipe each other up, a date has been set. The system with the use of AI selects a place and time according to each user's preferences. On the date screen, the date was given much more expression. On the date/chat screen, I made the date appear clear. if the user slides up, then chatting can resume.

Conclusions:

The market for dating apps is saturated but this is different. It is fascinating. Secrets bring something new to the market. Users' needs were researched and understood, then solutions were designed on an attractive interface to enable bridging of real-life connections.
