With all the excitement over games like Dragon Age: Origins and today’s release of Modern Warfare 2, I almost forgot about the new Mario game to be released on the Nintendo Wii. Aptly named, The New Super Mario Brothers Wii, Mario is back in the familiar 2-D sidescrolling platformer. Though most of the functions are familiar, the biggest function is the 4 player simultaneous play! Since the game won’t be released until November 15th in North America, I guess I can play MW2 before it comes out…what a tough life! =)

So many gamers have been playing Dragon Age: Origins for a few days now and it’s been widely accepted that the best version of the game looks to be the one on the PC. Not saying that the game is bad on the PS3 or XBox 360, but the graphics and overhead zoom-out function is definitely a great feature to have. Recently, DA:O received a patch v1.01a which helps to fix a few character issues and glitches. But the biggest thing to be released is the anticipated tool set. It’s been touted as one of the most robust programs to allow gamers to create their own adventures for Dragon Age!
Though I don’t have much time and creativity to create my own levels, I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that can expand this game to new horizons. I gotta hand it to BioWare, they sure know how to treat their PC gamers! =)

Part 1
Part 2
With the anticipated release of the new Star Trek Online MMORPG, not much was known about the backstory of the game leading up to the current events of the game. From the videos above, we can see that the game picks up after Star Trek: Nemesis and the Romulans have been embroiled in a civil war. Seeing the opportunity to strike, the Klingons invade Romulan territory to reclaim sectors that were rightfully theirs and then the go on wars of conquest to expand the empire. In the end, we see that the Klingons try to “reclaim” areas within the Federation and that renews the war between the Federation and the Klingons.
Although it’s cool to see the fight between old enemies, Klingons and Federation, it would be nice to see other threats like Species 8472, the Borg or even a completely new threat. Thankfully, you can design your own race if none of the cannon races are to your liking. Can’t wait!

We all know that piracy is considered to be a big threat in the gaming industry, however, some developers have started to make use of it to promote their games. RedLynx, the developer of the XBox Live Arcade game, Trials, has made it known that they seeded torrent sites with their game with less features (missing leaderboards). Trials has sold over 150,000 copies and see the exact amount of users on the leaderboards. Though it isn’t known weather or not the game had any effect on sales of Trials, it is definitely a novel way of trying to get people to play their game and perhaps buy it if they enjoy it.

All I gotta say is…WOW! With MW2 coming out in 4 days, I can bet that A LOT of gamers can hardly wait to get their hands on this. There are midnight releases being held everywhere and right now I’m contemplating whether or not I want to get the regular, hardened or prestige edition…oh the dilemma!
