I don’t want to grow up, but even if I did, I still would be a…can you hear it in your head now? Good. Toys R Us has released a few of their steals and deals for the fast approaching Black Friday, and some of them aren’t half bad. TRU will be offering a BOGOHO (buy one get one half off) sale on all PSP and DS games.

The Beatles: Rock Band will be $49.99, and The Beatles: Rock Band “Special Value addition” will set you back $134.99. We’re not exactly sure what Toys R Us is trying to tell us with this next set of deals but all Xbox 360 and Wii hardware purchases will include a $15 gift card for Subway, Wendy’s, or Cold Stone Creamery — why not just include a free bottle of replacement bong water — also, “select games” will include a $25 iTunes gift card. The BOGOHO and Beatles offerings are good online or in-stores but the free gift cards are an in-store deal only. So what’s the verdict? Anyone going to head out to Toys R Us at 5am on the 27th to rub elbows with soccer mom’s trying to get a Tickle Me Elmo for these deals?

T-Mobile and Microsoft Danger confirmed

Over the weekend T-Mobile and Microsoft Danger confirmed a huge outage on its Sidekick devices.

In a statement issued to customers T-Mobile confirmed "we must now inform you that personal information stored on your device - such as contacts, calendar entries, to-do lists or photos - that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly has been lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger."

According to some reports, the failure was due to a SAN (Storage Area Network) gone wrong at Microsoft's end. It is claimed that Microsoft does not have a working backup of some of the data that has gone missing from customers devices. The SAN upgrade is rumoured to have been outsourced to Hitachi to complete. [Source]

Apple legal preps trademark case against Woolworths

Apple Legal plans legal action against Australia retailer, Woolworths, over use of a logo the computer company thinks is too similar to its own.

Woolworths insists its logo is no more than a stylised W, but Apple plans a legal challenge all the same. How similar do the two logos appear to you?

As part of the action, Apple Inc. will have to convince IP Australia, the Australian Federal Government agency that governs trademarks, to reject Woolworths' trademark application, filed in August last year.

The issue is Woolworths gradual move to diversify its product offering. Winning the trademark would entitle the retailer to put its logo on all manner of devices, including computers, should the company choose to OEM its own models. The application includes uses which govern various classes of consumer electronics, including computers.

A bigger issue is Apple Retail. Apple is currently expanding its international retail operations, including launch of its own-branded stores in Australia.

Apple takes pains to protect its trademark in most such cases.

Microsoft launched Windows Cafe to advertise Windows 7

Microsoft is coming up with the new Idea of Marketing for Windows 7 as you all know that release of Windows 7 coming up very soon, Microsoft is doing its best to help build excitement; from Windows 7 parties to marketing campaigns, the software giant is sure showing the world how to promote its new upcoming product at its best. They're not stopping yet, however, as TechCrunch has reported that they're now building a Windows themed café in Paris to help further the promoting.

Microsoft France is building the café to help show off products from the company, such as the Xbox, as well as mobile devices, but none of these will be available for purchase. The Windows Café will apparently only be open for a couple weeks, beginning October 22, so if you're in France and want to have a look, you'd best get in quickly. Mashable break TomTom for iPhone Released [Video]

Mashable break this news about the release of TomTom for iPhone. After their report yesterday that in-car GPS system TomTom had released an iPhone app in New Zealand, it appears the app is now available for purchase elsewhere, including the US and UK. Mapping data is available for New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, US & Canada and Western Europe [iTunes link].

Obviously you’ll need an iPhone 3G or 3GS to make it work. What’s more, it’s not cheap: in the region of $100. However, in most cases that’s much cheaper than a standalone GPS unit.

UK site Recombu downloaded the app and took it for a test drive (video below). While it comes highly recommended, the app does of course pause when you receive an inbound phone call.

Ranking super high for the search term "Myspace"

Just wondering if it is possible to rank super high (E.G. 2nd place after Myspace.com) for the search term "Myspace" on google. I did a search today and myspace.com/lilymusic came up right under Myspace! Do you think an average joe like me could do this? Is it even in reach?

I checked how many backlinks she has on siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com. She only has 43, 628 backlinks, which leaves me wondering, how the hell did she make it so high for that search term! Myspace.com has 119 MILLION backlinks! I am really jealous because having that spot could "make" a super star over night with how many hits the profile would get! I could easily gain 43, 628 backlinks in year or two, but I don't think that will solely do it. What do you guys think? Should I keep trying to gain backlinks to my Myspace page, or should we say that "lilymusic" just "knows" some people at Myspace?

BlackBerry update in UAE

There's not much in the way of official statements on this one just yet, but itp.net is reporting that a recently pushed out update for all BlackBerry users on the UAE-based carrier Etisalat is not a "performance enhancement patch" as advertised, but rather some spyware that could potentially give Etisalat the ability to keep an eye on its customers' messages. The first suspicions about the update apparently arose when users noticed dramatically reduced battery life and slower than usual performance from their phones, which led to a bit of detective work from programmer Nigel Gourlay, who pegged the software down as coming from electronic surveillance company SS8. While it's not switched on by default, the software can reportedly let Etisalat flip the switch on phones one by one and monitor their emails and text messages -- or it could if it hadn't completely bogged down the network. Apparently, the software wasn't designed for such a large scale deployment, which resulted in the slowdown and battery drain as some 100,000 BlackBerrys constantly tried and failed to sign in to the one registration server for the software.[Via The Register]

Motorola will use Android Phone Software

Motorola Inc.’s (MOT) flagging wireless business is likely to get a shot of adrenalin before the end of the year with the release of a new handset lineup based on Google Inc. (GOOG) software, according to one brokerage. Motorola shares are getting a boost from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch analyst Tai Liani, who this morning raised his rating on the stock to Buy from Neutral, setting a price target of $9, up from $7. The company is betting that it is. “People familiar with the matter” tell The Wall Street Journal that Verizon (VZ) and T-Mobile USA plan to offer Motorola handsets running the OS by the end of the year.

Both devices are said to feature a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard and a “social communications” focus. Which sounds somewhat compelling, though it would probably be more so if the market weren’t already enamored with Palm’s (PALM) Pre, Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 3GS and its $99 brethren, the iPhone 3G. That said, I suppose there’s always a chance that Motorola (MOT), using Android, could turn out a handset that apes those devices and returns the company to the glory days of the RAZR or at least points it in the right direction.
