Vopium today announced that it has joined the Symbian Foundation, which, together with its ecosystem, is creating the most proven, open and complete mobile software platform. The platform is based on Symbian OS and software assets contributed by Nokia, NTT DOCOMO, and Sony Ericsson, including the S60 and MOAP(S) user interfaces.

Beckham denies nude ad campaign with Jolie

Football star David Beckham has denied reports that he is likely to strip off for a steamy ad campaign with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Beckham recently unveiled a sizzling advertisement of Emporio Armani where he featured with his wife Victoria and it was rumoured that the bosses at Armani are eager to team him with Jolie for a show stopping billboard campaign, Contactmusic reported.
But while admitting that he is a Jolie fan, Beckham insisted that the rumour mills are wrong.
"I definitely don't think that's true. Think it's something put out in the press. She's an amazing person and so is Brad Pitt. They're an incredible couple, got an amazing family. You know she wouldn't do it and I wouldn't do it. At the end of the day, I wouldn't do it because I'm married," said Beckham.

5800 xpress music phone lock error

I have had my new 5800 xpress music for just over a month now all working fine and no errors what so ever, in the last hour my phone screen suddenly cut itself out and now everytime i switch my phone on is locked with the key logo in the top right hand corner, the key lock button to the right side of the phone does not work. I have tried taking out both my sim card and battery and i have just reinstalled the software using the updater all to no avail. any advice??

After some time, geo reported on their website ‘Famous comedian Shakeel Siddiqui beaten up in India’. Notice the timing 15th January, 00:43am (7 hours later).

Interestingly, 2 of our paragraphs are 100% copied by them without giving any reference or quotation what so ever. Our blog was published 7 hours before Geo published their news. Here is the screen shot showing how the Evil face of Geo has so childlishly copied from us. Notice the timings and the words.

At this point in time we would urge you all to condemn Geo for not only blatantly plagiarising but also violating copy rights. Is this the true media reporting in our country? Is this the so-called Azad Media? if such are the standards im sorry we are going no where. After the false Kasab reports, manipulated news against Musharaf and Zardari Regime, exaggerations in FATA reports, seems like the soul purpose of GEO is to destabalise Pakistan and in the process earn cheap viewership and commercial gain. Democracy is the best revenge with people of Pakistan

At least 47 people have been killed since Ms Bhutto's death on December 27, 2007.

The main opposition parties say they will take part, despite having demanded the election not be delayed. They have accused officials of seeking to rig it.

The election is seen as a crucial move towards democratic rule under President Pervez Musharraf, an important ally in the US-led "war on terror" who stood down as army chief in November.

Elections originally scheduled for 8 January in Pakistan had taken place on 18 February. And After Results PPP, PML-N, MQM and ANP was elected by the people of Pakistan, and almost Pakistanis all over the world thinks that may be the policies of gen. Musharraf will be put away and elected leaders will make new policies......But the thinking had gone to an end and we came to know that PPP will carry on the Musharraf's policies this is the fact that PPP is still not admitting, because they got votes to fulfill the promises made by Banezir Bhutto like restoration of judiciary and work according to Charter of Democracy. But the situations were totally different, Mr. Zardari clearly says that he will not restore judiciary at the Nov 02 position and he adopted the new technique and make reappointment of judges.

These are the matters at macro level, here im going to porvide some pictures which shows that the so called leaders of Pakistan is working and behaving as same as happened in the govt. of Musharraf. When PPP declare Mr. Zardari as a candidate for the presidential election, most of the people start saying "Kaisi hay yeh qismat humarai, pehlay mushrraf ab zardari" means hows is our luck first mushrraf and now zardari, this is due to that Zardari was famous as the most criminal person in Pakistan and also called Mr. 10%.

I came to know that one of our Minister is passing through Faizabad Interchange, At that time I was thinking that if some one is in emergency and going to hospital as there are two hospitals on both sides ( PIMS in Islamabad and Rawalpindi General Hospital on this road). I think People will wait for death instead of going to hospital because I have to wait there for almost 30 mins.

But Still PPP is saying that Bhutto is alive.....I say that People of Pakistan are dieing with hunger but Bhutto is still alive.......I agree that democracy is the best revenge but the current situation is showing that democracy is the best revenge with people of Pakistan.....

The last Superman movie was a huge disappointment, but Warner Brothers plans a new Superman movie, one with a “darker” superman.

The psychologically darker Batman that Christian Bale played in the “Dark Knight”, worked for Batman, but will that same train of thought work for Superman?

Superman, “The Man of Steel” is not really a dark, tormented type of character. But in his mythology, he could be portrayed that way.

Of course Superman did have some emotional and psychological damage. He was an orphan who never knew his biological parents or birthplace. As Clark Kent, he is in love with a woman he can’t really have, Lois Lane. Lois Lane also wants Clark Kent, it’s obvious isn’t it?

Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent, is a somewhat weak and awkward guy, even a tad clumsy. Of course in my opinion that actually makes him more attractive.

It does seem we tend to like a darker, bleak, superhero these days. Or according to the Box Office sales anyway. But do you actually see Superman that way?

Christopher Reeve was the best Superman, but now that he’s gone, who would be a good choice?

O.J. Simpson, ex football celebrity, had a police visit in his home in Florida on the weekend of August 23-24. There was an alleged altercation between his girlfriend, Christine Prody and his eldest daughter, Arnelle Simpson, 39.

O.J. Simpson, 61, supposedly tried to break up the quarrel between the two women. Arnelle was angry with her father and Christine Prody because O.J. gave Christine money while her mother, Marguerite Whitley struggled to pay her bills. Whitley was O.J.’s first wife.

The National Enquirer claimed that Arnelle pushed O.J. into a glass cabinet and he had suffered cuts. However, when he appeared on CBS TV, a few days later, his face looked uninjured. O.J. Simpson refused to press charges on his daughter.

'This Is the Party for Us'

For the celebrities, the convention offers a chance to be seen on a scene that's not the nightclub circuit. For advocacy groups, it's an opportunity to reach an influential audience and some free media attention.

Etheridge, the Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, is the headliner at the Human Rights Campaign's Rock to Win concert tonight with Cyndi Lauper. She attended the Democratic convention in 2000 and says her motivations are personal. She says she "feels comfortable" against the political backdrop.

"For personal reasons, the gay cause is certainly important to me," Etheridge said. "I've been a Democrat tried and true for a long, long, long time and involved in Democratic Party politics, and I just feel very comfortable coming there."

"The sort of underlying theme that drives me is that I hope to show… that the Democratic Party is truly the party of inclusion and truly the party of diversity and when they openly invite me -- and I'm out -- I think they say, 'We are the party of change, we are the party of the future.""

She added, "And all the people who might be considered outsiders, this is the party for us."

Barack Obama's installation this week as the official Democratic nominee will cap a campaign that has won an unprecedented number of celebrity endorsements.

Although Oprah Winfrey is expected to appear at the Denver convention, observers suspect Mr. Obama's handlers will try to keep him from sharing the spotlight with the VIPs who have helped bolster his popularity, fearing Hollywood connections could reduce his credibility as a serious contender.

John McCain, the Republican candidate, has been quick to seize on Mr. Obama's links with celebrity. This month, he aired an attack ad characterizing his rival as a peer of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

Politicians have long courted celebrity, especially when campaigning, but they must be careful about how they characterize those relationships, says Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television & Popular Culture at Syracuse University.

"Oftentimes one brings in celebrity for a sense of making a campaign look like it's young and vibrant and visionary and all the rest of it -- you give it a bit of that showbiz juice. The problem is that the last thing that Barack Obama needs is showbiz juice," he said.

"He's got all the charisma, he's got the speaking. The whole idea of this rock star candidate is now to some extent being reframed to become a liability. The Democratic party has to be really careful that they don't paint themselves as a Hollywood presidency kind of thing."

For better or worse, Mr. Obama has captured the allegiance of a marketing-savvy Madonna, who kicked off her Sticky & Sweet tour on Saturday with a video montage showing the candidate with Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon and Al Gore. Mr. McCain appeared in the company of Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe.

While support for Mr. Obama from the likes of Scarlett Johansson, George Clooney and Bruce Springsteen may offer long-term benefit to the celebrities involved, it's of more questionable use for anyone running for political office, Mr. Thompson notes.

"A lot of people are beginning to realize that celebrity endorsements are doing a lot more to get you to change your mind about the celebrity than they do to get you to change your mind about a candidate," he said.

"Most people come to candidates with pretty set ideas of what their party is, and who they like and who they don't."

It's unlikely a popular movie, television show or album would persuade a life-long Republican to vote Democrat, and vice versa, he said.

"Just because one of their favourite actors endorses someone or speaks for one of them, I think it's more likely that the average voter is going to say, 'Oh, I used to like that celebrity, but they like candidate X, so I don't like that celebrity anymore.' "

Although Mr. Obama has charmed young voters and the media, there is little evidence this will translate into votes, says Gregory Payne, a professor in the organizational and political communication department at Emerson College, Boston.

The unparalleled turnout of young voters in the primaries does not necessarily mean they will vote for him in November, he says, pointing out the youth vote has traditionally been fickle.

"If the youth vote turns out as it did with the primaries for Obama, I think you're going to see a President Obama," he said.

"If the youth vote does as it has done in the past --and that is, that it always promises and looks like it's going to be behind John Kerry or Al Gore -- then what you're going to see is President McCain."

Megan Carpentier, a Washington, D. C., a lobbyist turned political blogger (for Jezebel.com and Glamocracy, Glamour magazine's election blog), is similarly cautious about the benefits of celebrity endorsement.

"I think it cuts both ways. [The candidates] want [celebrities] there because it brings media attention, but they don't want them around too much because they don't want to bring negative attention as though it is just a celebrity kind of endorsement," she said.

If she were asked to manage Mr. Obama's media exposure in Denver, Ms. Carpentier said she would make sure he was seen with serious-minded figures and fellow politicians, rather than rubbing shoulders with red carpet veterans.

Mr. Obama may end up trying to wrest the attention of young voters from the Hollywood types who have supported him, Mr. Payne said.

"The celebrities use it as a means of getting themselves back into the limelight," he said.

"It's what I would call a synergistic relationship where both sides probably benefit in a celebrity-spectacle culture."

I had a lump in my throat – and you would have, too, if you had seen Ted Kennedy speaking to the party faithful Monday night at the Pepsi Center.

My goodness, there was hardly a dry eye when Kennedy, recovering from brain cancer, spoke. It was spellbinding.

It was such a surprise that he attended the first day of the Democratic National Convention. The doctors didn’t want him to attend but he insisted.

He spoke about passing the torch to younger leadership. John Kennedy had said that.

Ted is a Kennedy and you always think about the odds he, and his family, have overcome.

Monday night also featured Michelle Obama as a speaker.

She was very good, down to earth. She certainly caught everyone’s attention.

If not hobnob, I at least have bumped in to my share of celebrities in the first day of the convention.

There’s CBS anchorwoman Katie Couric. Pennsylvania has a great location down on the floor, behind Colorado and Michigan. I wonder why. Anyway, the CBS booth is right there.

I was about 4 feet from Katie and she gave me a smile. She’s thinner and smaller than you see on TV, very serious looking. I wanted to tell her I liked her better on “The Today Show.”

I also saw Susan Sarandon in the crowd passing through, and political analyst James Carville.

You just can’t help but pick up the enthusiasm, the momentum’s there.

We’ll be fired up by Thursday.

I can’t wait for Hillary’s speech Tuesday night. That should be interesting.

We’re behind Obama. We’ll just have to convince John Q. Public to get behind him after Hillary gives us her message.

It’ll be a late night Tuesday because we’ll be going to a party at Invesco Field after Hillary. Pennsylvania and several other delegations are invited to the bash from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. local time.

Denver is doing a great job. And I can’t believe how organized it all was with 20,000 people in the Pepsi Center all walking out to the buses.

Tuesday, I attended a breakfast hosted by the labor unions. Bob Casey was the guest speaker and TV pundit Chris Matthews was there.

Well, I’m off to lunch with Congressman Murtha and the rest of the Pennsylvania delegation. Another full day.

COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER - Hollywood stars fired up the women’s caucus today as actor/activist Rosario Dawson declared: “We make politics look good, women!”

She was joined by fellow actor Eva Longoria, who said to cheers: “I’m just representing all the ‘Desperate Housewives’ who are in this room.”

“Too see this amazing turn out,” Longoria said, gazing across a sea of women. “This is insane. Let’s make a difference!”

Dawson, who co-founded Voto Latino to mobilize the Latino electorate, said women must continue the fight to improve their sisters’ lives.

She said women must change a dire static showing that that 1-in-3 American women are victims of rape, abuse or murder.

"What do we do? We vote!” she said

Because of trailblazers like Hillary Clinton, Dawn said, Her young goddaughter has new dreams.

"She’s not aspiring to be the president’s wife. She’s aspiring to be the president."

"This is my first caucus, my first convention. We make politics look good women!” Dawson said.

Turning their attention curbside, fashion and pop culture notables are getting down and dirty for charity. “Have you ever walked by the back of a restaurant at night?” asks fashion designer Michael Bastian. “It’s insane how much food goes to waste, those huge garbage bins full of stuff.” Waste and its whiff of economic imbalance led Bastian, the creative director of menswear atBill Blass, to partner with Danish design company Vipp, creating a one-off receptacle inspired by the current varsity theme of his eponymous line. “It’s a big, sexy football trashcan,” he reveals.

Bastian joins Bono and designer Cynthia Rowley in this year’s arts and crafts project involving stars bedecking bins for charity. Supermodel Helena Christensen hosts this month’s auction in New York, the proceeds of which will go towards the Food Bank for New York and Chernobyl Children’s Project International. Of his tar-dipped bin, L.A. artist Mattia Biagi says, “It represents the relationship between human beings and their own pollution in our modern society.” And Bastian could be speaking about his next line, so proud is he of his crafts project. “These are like the apotheoses of trash bins,” says Bastian. “I hated fucking with mine, because it was just too beautiful.” In other words, trashion is pure fashion.

Celebrities including Jack Osbourne experienced prison life for new show

Celebrities have put themselves behind bars for the latest reality TV show.

Linford Christie, Jack Osbourne and Donal MacIntyre experienced life as inmates in one of the "world's harshest prisons" for the new series.

The show, entitled Prisoner: X, also features I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! stars Joe Pasquale and Marc Bannerman, actor Will Mellor, author Toby Young and former Coronation Street actress Debra Stephenson.

Britain's former Olympic 100 metres gold champion Christie, who was later banned from the Games after failing a drugs test but has always protested his innocence, spent time in Belize's Central Prison.

Investigative journalist MacIntyre, who is better known for locking up criminals, experienced life in a grim, sparse cell normally reserved for those facing the death penalty in Louisiana State Penitentiary.

Sharon Osbourne's 22-year-old son was extracted from his cell and strip searched in Shelby County Jail, Memphis, while Young, the British author of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, requested a stab vest in Westville Prison, South Africa, after fearing for his own life.

Bannerman is locked up in Germany, and Stephenson in the US in the Virgin1 series - but none of the celebrities endure life in a British jail.

A spokeswoman for the show said she did not know whether that was because conditions in British prisons were not harsh enough.

Daniela Neumann, Virgin1's director of programming, said: "For the first time ever we will genuinely see these celebrities eat, sleep and shower in the most disgusting prisons in the world.

"These are personal and intimate journeys for people who are used to soft cotton sheets, fine wine, gourmet food and toilet paper - never has the phrase 'being out of your comfort zone' been more true."

NHL stars take on Hollywood celebrities in Festival Cup

A number of NHL stars and Hollywood celebrities will come together for the inaugural Festival Cup charity hockey game at the Air Canada Centre on Friday, Sept. 5.

Among those to take part in the game will be NHL stars Joe Thornton, Jason Spezza, Curtis Joseph, Matt Stajan, Robyn Regehr, Mike Cammalleri, Sean Avery and Andrew Ference. Celebrity players will include Tim Robbins, Alan Thicke, D.B. Sweeney, Cameron Bancroft and Jason Reitman.

Proceeds from the Festival Cup will go to Right To Play, an organization that promotes sport among children in disadvantaged areas of the world.

“I believe in the positive power of sport and play for children,” said Wayne Gretzky, Honorary Chair of Right To Play’s Canadian Advisory Board, in a statement. “In addition to keeping kids out of trouble and engaging them in a constructive activity, sports teach children many lessons and values including teamwork and determination. The Festival Cup is a great opportunity to help support the important initiatives of Right To Play.”
