MIT research: Indian Plate Collided with Asia later than previously thought

Most of the highest peaks of the world stand tall in the chain of The Himalayas. The peaks of the Himalayas are a modern remnant of massive tectonic forces that fused India with Asia tens of millions of years ago. The Himalayas believed to have into existence because of collision of Indian and Asian plates engulfing thethys sea and island arch in between. Previous estimates have suggested this collision occurred about 50 million years ago, as India, moving northward at a rapid pace, crushed up against Eurasia. The crumple zone between the two plates gave rise to the Himalayas, which today bear geologic traces of both India and Asia. Geologists have sought to characterize the rocks of the Himalayas in order to retrace one of the planet’s most dramatic tectonic collisions.

Now researchers at MIT have found that the collision between India and Asia occurred only 40 million years ago — 10 million years later than previously thought....

Dance- the Soul Liberator

What will you do if you are happy? – You may smile, laugh and even cry. What if you are very, very happy? You may sing. What if you are very, very, very … happy? You must be dancing. I feel dance is the ultimate expression of joy, a joy which is beyond all calculations. Dance may also be the expression of other emotions but the joyful dance is more predominant and versatile. Its a state of eternal bliss where you get lost and rediscover yourself. Animals may not smile or laugh, but they also dance to communicate and express their joy. It is the animal instinct surviving predominantly in man however civilized he may become. It preceded all civilized inventions like language, culture, art and civilization. There are various forms of dances all over the world and some new forms may be getting added. Dance is always accompanied by music. Dance and music must have evolved together entangling each other and might have got separated with evolution. Music can exist without dance but dance can't exist in separation. Dance played a major role in all most all civilizations

It has been more than seven months that I am scribbling something on this website. Life has become busy with some bits and curves. So when I got some time and while wandering in my random thought sphere - I just checked the Google Analytics of this website. The figure even though low, made me a bit happy -

In the last one year http://dilipkumar.in/ has reached One Lakh thirty thousand (unique) visitors across the globe - not a boast worthy feat (facebook may be doing it in milli or micro seconds :D) , but a bit happy to know that this layman's musings have been heard by so many ...

Interested in launching new website - on environment, energy and society related issues and broaden the existing one. Will be glad if any one is interested and (serious!) to join ...

NASA stands as the symbol of Human Quest and desire to look beyond boundaries - be it to set a foot on moon or send man-made objects to end of the universe or to build a Castle in the Space . All some great events and achievements are summed up in this video - watch and drop your views ...

NASA : Why do we explore? Simply, it is part of who we are, something we've done throughout history. NASA's new video, "We Are the Explorers," looks at that tradition of reaching for things just beyond our grasp, and how it's helping lay the foundation for our greatest journeys ahead.

India amid challenging neighborhood, already participated in four wars with Pakistan, including one undeclared war and one war with China since the partition in 1947, as well as many border skirmishes and military stand-offs. Additionally, India has accused Pakistan of engaging in proxy wars by providing military and financial assistance to violent non-state actors. So India is pulling all it's resources to update and to equip it's defence forces with the Modern warfare. India is following a two prong approach, buying from the world players through defence deals with various countries and producing in-house by developing the skill bank and industry. The indiginizing effort now a days gained good momentum even though not up to the required extent. LCA tejas , Kaveri Engine , Medium Combat Air Crafts etc. are at various stages of development.

In th urge to develop advance technology in-house , India has moved a step closer to developing it's own Airborne Early Warning and Control System

Global Warming/ Climate Change the buzz words that were circulating since the last two decades with scientists warning of rising sea levels and extinction of species couldn't turn in to much action. There are still quiet considerable percentage of policy makers who dunk the climate change prophecies. Many researchers are being on both ends. But it requires no Phd to understand that the quality of life is deteroirating inspite of greatest scientific achievements. People say that History repeats - and it proved to be true on many occassions . Now the issue is a research by MIT geeks that Global warming killed 90 % of the species on this earth some 252 million years ago. ..

Each year, Children's Day is celebrated in the spirit of childhood itself. It teaches us to be innocent and inquisitive as a child who enjoys learning in whatever he does with a big smile.

It is a day for children to engage in fun and frolic and is celebrated with special vigor at the school level. Schools across India have special programs for the day, including quiz, fancy dress competitions, children's art exhibitions and so on.Even we people at a small town like Gooty (Anantapur) organised Quizzes and dance competitions for School children and it was a joyful experience.

Children's Day, November 14, marks the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. His love and passion for children was so special that children affectionately called him Chacha Nehru.
