How to Make a Favicon for Your Site

Using a favicon for your site is a great way to make it look more professional and established. In case you’re wondering what a “favicon” is, its the little image that shows up in your internet browser next to the sites URL when you visit a website. It also shows up when someone bookmarks your site or saves a link to it on their computer. The image is only 16×16 pixels so it can be hard to get very creative but if done right you should end up with a clear image that will really add to your site.

When creating your image its best to start with a little bit larger image so you have room to work, then shrink it down to 16×16 when you’re finished designing. I usually start with 64×64. You don’t want to go too big because you’re going to lose most of the detail when you shrink it anyway, so 64×64 should be fine.
If you’ve already got a logo for your site then its best to try to implement that logo into your favicon design so that it matches you site and people are able to recognize it more easily.

Once you’ve got your design you’ll need to shrink it down to 16×16 and save it as a .png if possible. (other formats will work but the .png seems to be the best)
Next you’ll want to do a quick search on google for “favicon generator”. There are many good sites that let you upload your image and turn it into a favicon. The easiest one, and the one I usually use is http://www.favicongenerator.com/ .
They will convert your image into a .ico file that you need to save to your computer.
Once you’ve got your .ico file you’ll need to upload it to the root directory of your website. (not in any sub-folders, just right in the main directory of your website)

With the .ico file uploaded to your site the only thing left for you to do is to add a small bit of code to the top of your website.

This needs to go in the section of your site before the closing tag.

You’ll probably need to refresh your browser a few times before it will start showing up. Sometimes you’ll even need to close your browser and start it again. Its kinda tricky but if you’ve done everything right it will start showing up after a bit.

Affiliate Marketers – How to Work the Same But Earn More

Are you an affiliate marketer? If so this may be of interest to you. Its a subject a lot of us know in the back of our minds but never really consider as a possibility or implement as part of our business. However, it can have a huge effect on our bottom line.
When you set up an affiliate, review, or a content site it can be just as easy to target a high ticket item like a $2,000 forex product as it is for a lower priced item such as a $37 dieting ebook on clickbank. Both of these products market to a large audience and take the same amount of effort to get traffic for. The difference however is that one of them pays $1000 per sale while the other pays $20.

A lot of people get caught up on the idea that its easier to sell something cheaper since its an easier sell. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Imagine the last time you went to the store and bought some bread, you probably paid a few bucks for it. Now think of the last time you bought an automobile, did you compare its price with that of the bread? Of course not. You knew an automobile’s going to be more expensive and you were prepared to pay the price.

The same goes for selling high dollar items on the internet. You’re not having to sell a car to a bread customer, you’re selling a car to the car customer.

The one thing any business can always use more of are leads and when you’re dealing with a company that sells high dollar stuff they’ll most likely be glad to give you a cut of the profits for providing them with customers.

Most of the time you can just refer the visitor to the company’s website via your affiliate link while other times you’ll have to do a little more work to get the prospects contact information before passing it on as a lead to the company. It depends on how the affiliate program is structured or what you’ve worked out ahead of time.

A lot of times there can actually be less competition for a higher priced item since there may be less people promoting it. Some examples are:

Medical equipment
Premium Vacations like Safaris
Cars, Private Jets, Boats, helicopters, ect..
High end services
Real Estate
Jewelery
Designer Clothes and Accessories like purses or sunglasses
Debt or Tax reduction
Business to Business tools such as credit card processing
Farm or Industrial equipment like machinery and tractors
Home Improvement – pools, home theater systems, ect..
Business training, seminars, Study courses

Another thing to keep in mind is that you’re not going to sell to everyone. Some people will like what you’re recommending and some wont. Take this company for example:
Luxury Payment
They sell solid gold, silver and platinum credit cards. When I first saw this I said to myself “I have to get one of these, thats the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen, my life won’t be complete until I have one”. I then showed Ben and he laughed at it and said it was stupid and couldn’t see any one wanting one.
One of the great things about selling via the internet is that for the most part only people that are interested in what you’re promoting will be visiting your site. They’ll either do a search and land on it or read about it somewhere and end up on your site. For the most part they won’t be clicking the link to your site unless they’re already interested in what you offer. This can make for an easy sell. All you then have to do is refer them to the website you’re promoting or get thier contact information and connect the buyer with the seller.

Hopefully this gives you a few ideas and opens your mind to some of the possibilities available as an affiliate for higher priced items. There are billions of people out there, all using the internet and all buying things every single day. There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t be the one to connect these people with what they’re looking for and at the same time be well compensated for your efforts.

Hey!
Just wanted to make a quick blog post and update readers on whats going on with the site.

Ben and I have been focusing most of our time this last year on niche marketing. CPA, Affiliate promotion, Creating our own Niche products, ect.. Its been a great year and we’ve learned a LOT. We’ve tried and tested pretty much every method of marketing online you can imagine. Some have been really great and started generating money in our business and some have been a complete waste of our time. (well, not a total waste when you consider the value of the learning experience but other than that…)

The good news though is that we’re coming back to one of our true passions and the reason this blog was set up in the first place. To teach others how to make money online the same way we do.
We’re really excited about this and are already in the office preparing several different courses that will help both people that are trying to grow their existing online business and people that are just getting started.
