Earlier, Me and my friends were thinking of making a Dirt bike from an 80cc Scrap engine from Bajaj and now we finalized the design.

Now I am going to give you a brief of what we did to create this beast.

Dirt Bike Chassis Selection:

At first, we took a Bajaj M80 Chassis and removed the back part of it. We only had the front part and welded it to a metal seat. We bought dirt tires and fitted them for a good Off-Road Grip. Then we took rear suspension from a bike called Pulsar 180.

Dirt Bike Engine Tuning :

Then, we have to fabricate the doom and side kits. For that, we went to a fabricator in pudhupettai with our design and we painted it with the colors red and white.

Then, we entirely dismantled the engine for a complete refurbishes for good performance on our dirt bike. Anyways it was a scrap engine so it needs things inside it to be completely changed and lubricated. For a dirt bike in a 80 cc initial power is must so we changed pickup coil and assembled the engine and installed chain connecting the engine with the back wheel for power transmission.

The engine is ready to install in the dirt bike and we installed it. In M80 the gear system will be in the hand so for a dirt bike we need to change the gear system to foot, so that it will be easy for the driver to operate. Then we Shifted the gear system to foot and took for a test drive and everything seems to be fine.

Everything was going as we planned, installed the doom and side fabricated parts to the dirt bike.

After installing, we did not believe that the outcome will be as good as this. Next, we tested the performance on the road, first, the outcome power was good as we got a maximum speed of 75km/hr.

Braking System :

A brake is a mechanical device that slows or stops motion. The purpose of the braking system is to increase locking all the wheels in the shortest possible period.

We aimed to design a braking system which is easy to operate and light in weight. Hydraulically actuated disc brakes have been used. A disc as well as the calliper of APACHE RTR 180 is used. Cutting brakes with the hand-operated the master cylinder has been employed at rear wheels to augment efficiency and safety of the vehicle by:

1) Increasing the steering efficiency at corners by locking a single wheel by using cutting brakes.

2) Moving our vehicle out from the situation when one of the wheels is slipping and the whole power is being transferred to the slipping wheel so by locking that wheel we can transfer the power to the wheel in contact with the ground.

Disc brakes of Apache RTR180 were used due to their small size which can easily fit in the rim. Also, disc brakes of APACHE are of petal-type which makes them more efficient.

Finally, we completed building an 80cc Dirt Bike. Then one day suddenly we received a pamphlet regarding there is a race called Dirt Bike which is happening intercollege. So we planned to participate in that competition with the dirt bike we created.
