Leon Styles Interview

Leon styles shares his experience in racing with all of you Dirt Drifters out there in this interview from Gorman Ridge. This time out Leon was driving car #374, the Subaru STI prepped by Top Quality Racing. If you are used to hating on his Evo it might feel better to see him rockin out in his Subaru. Amazingly Leon recovered from a devastating first stage total catastrophic strut failure to place 2nd overall in the rally and 1st in the Open 4WD class. With Guido Hamacher Co-Driving they ran almost all of the rally on a borrowed rear strut. The ever colorful Mr. Styles let's you know what he really thinks as we talk about the sport of Rally in America. Check out some bonus footage from the 2004 Rim of the World Rally.

Chrissie Beavis Interview 2007

Chrissie Beavis is undeniably born to rally. 2007 was a spectacular year to watch her in action. Driving and Co-Driving in rally stages all over America. As the Co-Driver for Tanner Foust and the Rock Star Rally Team, Chrissie took home X-Games gold !!! In this interview we catch up with her at the service area in between stages at the 2007 Gorman Ridge Rally. Chrissie and Co-Driver Terry Stonecipher placed 2nd in their performance stock class for the 2007 California Rally Series in car #340 the LOST VW Jetta GTi.

2007 Gorman Ridge Rally

The 2007 Gorman Ridge Rally took place on August 18, 2007. It was round six of the United States Rally Championship. A California Rally Series Triple Points Event. Presented by Creative Edge events and sponsored by Subaru. This was the 18th annual running of the event. By all accounts the conditions were the bumpiest and rockiest of all time. It was definitely the driest year on record and competitors were happy just to get through the race in one piece. Hopefully their liquid cooled racing suits helped keep them chilling in the desert. Colin McRae : Rally Hero

Colin McRae was one of the greatest individuals in the sport of rally. His ability to drive almost any motorized vehicle to victory was truly impressive and inspirational. The helicopter crash which took his life leaves all rally fans with a deep sense of loss. There will never be another Colin McRae.

Rockstar Rally Team : Tanner Foust #34 & Andrew Pinker #5

The Rockstar Energy Drink 2007 Rally Team, must really be drinking their products. They have had a phenomenal performance record this year in their North American competitions. The twin Subaru STi cars are Tanner Foust & Co-Driver: Chrissie Beavis (Car #34) with Andrew Pinker and Robbie Durant in (Car #5). They must have their boost "turned up to 11". The Syms pit crew kept things rolling along with ease while the Tein suspension seemed to outperform all of the other competitors equipment. This footage was shot while training for the X-Games 13 Super Special Stage Jump. Tanner & Chrissie, went on to win the X-Games 13 Rally Car event with the smooth, clean driving which they are known for. Rock on ! XGames Crash - Team DSG

Team DSG crashed their Mitsubishi Evo dramatically at X-Games Practice !!! This is the best footage you will find!!!! They came up about a car length short and rebounded end over end. Ramana Lagemann & co-driver Mark Williams walked away shaken up, but resolved to compete in the X-Games. Unfortunately the degree of damage caused further complications with their engine during the actual Stadium Special Stage and they had to give up. Hopefully we will see them on the podium next year. Thanks to Rally America and ESPN for access to the Lake Elsinore Training Grounds. Soundtrack by Kabuki 5000.

"The Road to Rally" episode, is a compilation of highlights, from "The Rim of the World Rally", "The Laughlin International Rally" and the "Magellan Adventure Rally". Rally may just be the best way to tour America. You will certainly see places that many will never view, except on television. What better way to experience nature than by leaving a mile long trail of dust and exhaust ripping across the landscape. Dirt Drifters isn't only about getting sideways and dusted. There is another meaning to the word drift. Professional Rally drivers traverse the planet, drifting across the continent. In search of great terrain at amazing speed. Drifting at Rim of the World 2005

Drifting has been the fastest growing form of motorsports in the last few years. The west coast immediately embraced the style and aggression of drifting. It turns out that for many asphalt drifters, the left foot braking and e-brake techniques of WRC rally are their inspiration. In this clip the TEIN D1 car by PJ Bonifacio Autodesign gets very sideways. You will also see the Slide Squad and the Drift Patrol Cop.

This interview with Lisa Klassen of Team Rallyestar took place during the GCRallyX on June,11 2005. The Gravel Crew held the event at Leon Styles Tombstone PaintBall course in Corona, California. Lisa was still driving her Toyota Corolla and hadn't gotten into her Mitsubishi Evo yet. As fate would have it her and Leon would battle it out for the podium in 2007 at the Rim of the World. "Dirt Drifters" would like to congratulate Lisa on her historic victory. She is the first woman in the U.S. to win a national level sanctioned rally. You get to see her Corolla in action too!
