Born with a hereditary eye condition that has slowly deteriorated his central vision, Aaron now has about 10% of his vision. But the lack of sight not stop him from being one of the best triathletes in world. Aaron found his calling as a triathlete in his teens and is now a 4-time World Champion and 5-time National Champion triathlete. In 2005, Aaron teamed up with 4 other blind athletes to compete in the pinnacle of triathlons, the Ironman triathlon in Hawaii. 2009 was a great year for Aaron, winning the Accenture PC National Championships. He was also crowned the 2009 ITU PC World Champion. Aaron is also a motivational speaker and speaks all over the world, challenging and inspiring others, telling them that they too can achieve what they set out to do. He has been blind since age 12, owing to congenital glaucoma and a blow to the head while tending goal during a soccer game. Andrea did not begin his singing career until the late 1980s, when he began performing in piano bars throughout Italy. Before then he earned a law degree from the University of Pisa. In 1993 he was signed to a record contract after a scout heard him sing during a party. That was the beginning of a spectacular career, which saw him team with some of the best voices in the business. Andrea has worked with the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and Sarah Brightman, and has sung for the Pope. Perhaps his best-known hit is "Con Te Partirò [Time To Say Goodbye]", a duet with Brightman. Bocelli has also done "Vivo Per Lei," which means "I Live For Her". The song has been translated many times, and Bocelli has teamed up with many different singers in the translations. He himself sings the Italian and Spanish versions, and sings in Italian on the French and German versions of the song. Hélène Ségara, Marta Sánchez, Sandy and Judy Weiss have all teamed with him on different versions of the song. He has even worked with Céline Dion, teaming up with her for the song "The Prayer." Andrea met Enrica Cenzatti in 1987, and they married in 1992. They have two sons: Amos(b 22-Feb-1995) and Matteo (b 8-Oct-1997)." [1] Below are some videos of Andrea Bocelli singing duets with some women who are amazing in their own right. Though you may not be a fan of opera, I am certain that you will enjoy these duets with Sarah Brightman, Hayley Westenra, Christina Aguilera, Marta Sanchez, Sandy, Laura Pausini, Celine Dion and Helene Segara. Enjoy. Her left leg deformed by a condition called proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), Sarah wore a stiff, cumbersome leg brace until she was seven. At that point, the decision was made to amputate. After the operation, Sarah tried to be like all her friends; she was a Brownie. She was a great student. She had a smile that lit up a room. But she could never overcome being “different”. And nowhere was that more apparent than in gym class. She came in last on field day. She was picked last for teams. Teachers and coaches refused to include her in regular play with the other kids. Instead, Sarah would kick a ball against the wall. Alone. Life changed for Sarah when, at age 11, she competed in her first disabled track meet. Sarah lined up next to other girls missing limbs. When the gun went off for the 100 Meter dash, she ran hard and finished first. For the first time, she experienced the thrill of competition – and of winning and her life would never be the same..... for the complete story, go to this link: Sarah Reinertsen Sarah Reinertsen is the 1st female above-knee amputee to ever complete an Ironman Hawaii Triathlon. This, however, did not stop him from achieving his goals. In 1989, he became only the 15th player ever to make his professional debut in the baseball Major Leagues. According to his biography, 'Jim Abbott has battled the odds his entire life. Despite being born with only one hand he was the 15th player to ever make a professional debut in the Major Leagues. Many considered the move a publicity stunt by manager Doug Rader, but after struggling early, Abbott proved his doubters wrong by winning 12 games with a 3.92 ERA in his rookie season. On the mound, Abbott wore a right-hander's fielder's glove at the end of his right arm. While completing his follow-through after delivering a pitch, he rapidly switched the glove to his left hand so he could handle any balls hit back to him. In that first 1989 season as a professional he won more games as a rookie than any other previous player without Major League experience.' [1] For the complete story go to the below link. It’s 100 meters to the finish line. I’m pumping my legs as fast as I can when a sort of snick snick snick snick starts getting louder, like I’m being chased by a giant pair of scissors. At 50 meters to go, the sound is at my left shoulder, and then Oscar Pistorius blows past me; the snick snick fades away ahead. By the time I cross the finish line, the South African sprinter has already turned around and is catching his breath, leaning forward, hands on his knees.Oscar Pistorius is a very good runner. for the complete story go to http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.03/blade.html You can also check out this link: Oscar Pistorius: Amputee Sprinter Runs Differently To see him run, watch the video below: </itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Oscar Pistorius, amputee</itunes:keywords>
by Josh McHugh for Wired Magazine

<li><a href="http://esentialz.blogspot.com/2009/06/tidbitz-2-eagle.html">The Eagle</a><br/>
The eagle loves fish. Sometimes the movement it sees is a fish that is much bigger than it is able to handle. It swoops down with incredible speed and accuracy and sinks its talons into both sides of the fish.

The fish jumps and dives toward the lower depths of the ocean. And before the eagle is able to react, it is pulled with the fish to a sudden death…</li>

This young woman is someone who has known trial. She has lived a life clothed with the cloak of others misunderstanding because of what she does not have. And what, to many appears to be something that has been taken away, has been more than replaced by a joy, a quiet resolve and a sincere and abiding spirit.</li>

(A story about who tried to commit suicide by laying in front of a train and lived to tell about it.)

The first thing you notice when you meet Kristen Jane Anderson for the first time is that she is in a wheelchair. The second thing you notice is her legs, or the lack thereof. As you gather yourself from the surprise, you look up, and immediately take in the warmth, the sunshine that is the smile on her face.

She has a grace, a vivacious spirit; a self-assurance that overshadows the apparent fact that she is in a ‘chair’. Though she may have lost her legs, she has gained a boundless energy and zest for life. Why would anyone with such life have wanted to take it away?</li>

She sits quietly in her wheelchair, waiting patiently for whatever will come. There is activity all around her as her sisters play…and she sits, taking it all in; and then a big grin. Her face beams with incredible joy and she is at peace with the world….</li>
