If you read My Couponing New Year’s Resolution -  You know that my three resoltuions are Budgeting, Menu Planning, and using Mail in Rebates!

Here is my weekly summary of what I have done PLUS how much money I have saved! Last week I told you I planned to spend less than $20 this week — ready to see how I did? So let’s get on down to it!

BUDGETING:

I have set myself to a budget of $350 a month for my family of 4. This grocery budget includes ALL of my shopping, pet supplies, laundry, everything that I have to buy at a store!! I set it a $350 to give myself some cushion, because I can regularly do this with $175 or less. I have budgeted this way so that whatever is left over each month can go to our savings account – remember we are saving up for that first home!

So, if I have it set at $350 a month, this leaves me about $87.50 a week to spend! So — before you are ashamed of me — I nearly doubled my limit this week!!!

WEEK 3 – $56.57

I know, but three things happened this week:

A. Albertsons Coupon Round Up Event
B. I found tons of meat stickers and I can’t walk away from great meat deals.
C. See picture below to see what happens when you take your husband to the store with you!

HA – I took the other half with me on the 22nd, notice I have the highest total and the lowest average savings this day! Let this be reminder to you — Husband’s stay at home while you shop!

So let’s see how January is going so far:

SPENT: $184.46
SAVED:  $424.49
REGULAR PRICE FOR THESE PURCHASES: $608.95
SAVINGS: 69.71% (A hair short of that 70% mark)

So I still have $165.54 left out of $350.00 this month (cha-ching!)

MAIL IN REBATES:

I have not submitted any mail in rebates this week – bummer, but I have my eyes out for them!

MONEY MADE IN REBATES THIS YEAR: $17.99

MENU PLANNING:

I always tell you how much I love Food on the Table, because they offer menu planning for FREE (for 3 meals), so now that I am done onto mine!

I have actually just planned from what items I had at my home and found some recipes to go with some great meat deals I found this week!

Chicken Noodle Casseroles
Hamburgers & Fried Potatoes
Hot Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwiches

Before my resolution, I was just figuring out on a daily basis what was for dinner. Now on Saturday evenings I get my menu figured out for the week or I will do it Sunday evening if I find some killer meat stickers Sunday morning. This cuts down on those little trips for small things like sour cream because you decided on tacos tonight!

Even though the holidays over, I am sure you still get packages sent to your home!

There is nothing more frustrating then getting home Friday afternoon from your errands and finding that devasting “Sorry we missed you” sticker! Ughhh, I HATE that thing!
