I've learned my lesson after having both of our laptops stolen. All of my pics of my grandson were on the harddrive and I had no backup. Now I back up online and let them worry about remembering to do it. I use myppcbackup and they will even sync up my different computers for me. They offer a free accounts or unlimited.

Before spending money on heating costs for 2014 shouldn't we see the results of the energy audit that was done? As a tapayer can we see all of their utility costs by producing actual bills? If we spend $8,500 will that be enough (I suspect not) and if not will we Shirley taxpayers be committed for more? How many members are there that are active in the Legion, meaning not just paper members, those retired and living in Florida? I suggest they open their books and also submit a business plan on how they will be able to become solvent. Although somewht new in town, I have utmost respect for our veterans. Maybe we can provide a better place for them,

Well, it sounds like Ayer is on the right track for a respectable cleanup. A few deserved tickets will also generate some revenue. The next step is to hire cleanup people and bill the services to the offenders if they refuse to comply on their own. I know this is done with homeowner associations, perhaps the town attorney can see if it can be done in town. Maybe if accumulated fines are waived to cleanup costs only. Anyone who doesn't like it should just move along...

As far as this proposed temple goes we here in Raynham have one almost completed and it's in a rural area near the historical Taunton River dotted with 18th and 19th century homes on a narrow road and is completely foreign to that location. Which apparently doesn't matter at all to them that it totally ruins the character of the landscape..They have stated that it's the second largest outside of Thialand and has 62 bathrooms..

I like Partridges gas station I think prices are reasonable and he gives the young kids jobs which supports community and the kids always provide great service. We had our oil changed there and it was at least 40 dollars less than what we had been paying and he only use synthetic blend oil. Which I like. I have lived in towns where in the summer or spring there would be a townwide competition for most manicured or neatest property etc.... The whole town was immaculate and people really cared about how property looked.For some reason people really competed for the plaque in front yard and the little giftcards they would get as reward for caring about their own property.
Maybe something as simple as that would support a prettier Ayer! Silly I know, but it really kept those towns pristine! Maybe a most kept and ugliest published in paper would open some eyes!

You are correct that the beach must be open to the public due to the use of state funds. I'm sure it must frustrate the life guards to have to babysit children while the parents go fishing. I wonder if Ayer could limit parking in the area to residents (proof of residency could be dump sticker) as an alternative to paying the state back?

I had heard retail which makes sense, but still rehab would be expensive and 2 of 3 voting towns voted no. Mill condos and apartments are beautiful! I wonder if making historic would make difference?

While we are talking about improving Ayer, I wonder if there is a way the town could pay back the state for the work they did at the town beach at Sandy Pond so that it can become a town beach open to residents of Ayer and people that work in Ayer ONLY???? There are way to many trouble makers that cause trouble and leave trash all over the place. There is a certain group of people from Lowell that try and take the whole place over on Sunday afternoons and they are nothing but trouble. I would happily pay a yearly usage fee to get these people out of the beach and out of my town.....

The property is a joke! His garage/storage thing is illegal as it has to be behind his house. Also there is an obnoxious blue house that looks like its abandoned on Snake Hill Rd like 3 houses down from said property. Something should be done about that.

I will pass on buying gas in Ayer, if you haven't noticed for some reason Ayer gas prices are a lot higher than the surrounding towns. They need to come up with better parking options downtown. No tax incentives for cleaning up properties, it should be clean your property or else.......

I agree. How can you pave over your front yard, park literally tons of vehicles on it, and run a freaking sawmill from your house without the town doing something! They've been completely toothless in this matter.
