this is RIDICULOUS. & people wonder why these towns are always totally broke? $240,000 to change an intersection when all people really need to do is drive better/be more cautious? consider all the truly dangerous intersections in the massachusetts area - like the intersection of concord ave, common st, & royal rd in belmont, or wellington circle in medford - that people negotiate every single day in much higher volumes than pepperell will EVER see, & yet those towns aren't spending money on them. learn to drive, folks.

Hopefully the issue will be brought up again and we can hire qualified people. I can't imagine wanting to run for your job every few years instead of being hired. Any qualified person, who does his/her job would jump at the chance to be hired once and not have to deal with this election process. Unless, they are not qualified.....hmmmm. Everyone I know thought this was a "no brainer" and would pass no problems. The vote was very close. Next time it will not be. Then Mr. Canney can apply for his job and will not have to spend his time holding signs at the dump.

Im a student in the district and our school system really needs this override to pass in order to maintain our excellent teaching staff and acquire the means to provide my fellow students and I with the proper tools to get a full education. The past few years, North Middlesex Regional High School has had to let go of several phenomenal teachers due to the school budget, and our needs don't end there. At NM, our Science labs are in a terrible state, our computer systems are unreliable, and from a more personal angle, our music department is in shams because of the budget cuts over the past few years, and we are in desperate need of music, instruments, and funding in general. Our school does its best to give back to the community, and the band is a strong example. On memorial day the NMRHS Concert Band will be marching in the Pepperell Memorial Day Parade, giving back to the community and getting out there to show that we aren't just a bunch of kids who don't deserve a proper education, but that we instead are a passionate group of young adults who want to be able to get the best from our few short years at North Middlesex. I myself came into the Band Program this year as a freshman, and found that we were in desperate need of instruments, music and the like. I'm playing a very well worn and beaten up string bass that the school has had since the 80's, and its in great need of some TLC. Friends of mine are in the same situation, and its unfortunate how such a profound group of young adults have so little to work with in regards to the tools they need to learn and get the most out of their education. That's why I'm strongly advocating the need for the voters in the district to pass the override and provide our school system with the resources they need to give the students what they deserve out of an education.

Yes yes. Holding off was the right decision. This town does not need a Wendy's or anything like that. Or traffic signals or more city things. Manage our growth, keep it slow and put in commercial space that fits the character of the town, not fill the coffers so more money can be spent. Time for new selectmen since all they want to do is build and build. Someone said we have too much open space. Whichever one that was should go first.

I have attended or seen on channel 15 the school committee meetings, town hall meetings, & selectmen meetings. Our community is seeing difficult times. Years past at town meetings it was always yes for any expenditure. At the same time the schools were taking earlier retirement and not replacing the teachers, & deparments. While this is all going on our state and fed governments is giving less and less each year and we still have increasing health insurance and retirement fees.

WE DO NOT need to blame fincom, the school committee, Dr. Marshall and or faculty. We need Beacon Hill to stop the madness. A State Agency sends our schools a TURD NOTE! Then the F'xxkr's make us pay $908K to have a STATE Agency Mass School Building. Follow the money! The state working with the state

We need the state to take the insurance off of the City's and town's. One plan for teachers, town, city, employees for insurance and the state foots the bill. If we could take that off of the school budget it would be a HUGE monkey off of the back of the schools. Problem is you have how many Unions in that bunch that would never agree to take that off the back of the town.

We have no choice but to override for the next 2 years. One for the covering of the CY13 budget and then one to pay for the new HS. At the same time call your Sheila Harrington, and ask the STATE to take over the insurance......Peak at the budget with it off the books!

This was the right decision, to hold off. Commercial could very well be the right choice. The plan had no true plan of action. I personally agree with the concept. The Folks on Independence ask a basic question and about property lines and the lack of consideration to the residents was insulting. We need some commercial in Pepperell. If we passed this Article and allowed to turn the property to commercial and an offer of 1$0-12 Million float across the desk of Town Hall it would be sold. Our community needs a plan, not a Plaza....vote for the override! We need to stop the madness on Beacon Hill. Not with the School Committee.
