Meanwhile, the company has also added a new Diva to it’s roster page — a blonde Diva by the name of Jamie Keyes, who looks a tad like Brooke Hogan. Click here to see her profile picture. Nothing is known at this time about Jamie, which I’m assuming is a WWE-given name rather than her real one, so there’s probably nothing on Google about her. Unless my eyes aren’t what they used to be, I don’t think it’s British Diva, Jemma Palmer.

OVW, once a developmental territory to WWE, has been a breeding ground to such Diva greats as Victoria, Mickie James and Melina but in the past couple of years since dropping its association with the company, has had to re-invent itself.

The new OVW women’s division features the likes of The Blossom Twins and Epiphany, young wrestlers honing their craft in a well established promotion/training facility, with hopes of making it to the big leagues like the women before them. One woman, an OVW mainstay from the early days, Josie you may recognise though as former TNA Knockout, Sojo Bolt. Josie, soon to be seen in Wrestlicious, returned to OVW after leaving TNA and as discussed in our exclusive interview with her, has been something of a mentor to these young girls.

On TV however, it’s another story — Josie has been embattled in a feud with Epiphany for some time now with this being billed as a match ‘two years in the making’. The decorated 5-time OVW Women’s Champ, Josie finally gets into the ring with Epiphany with the title on the line.

First of all, for those of you unaware of Epiphany, you can hit up her Wikipedia and/or follow her on Twitter. Epiphany is basically OVW’s HBIC. Think Kong. Josie, I guess is the veteran babyface ala Mickie or Trish. We ready to watch?

Right from the bat, Epiphany attacks Josie throwing her off the ring apron as she makes her entrance before slamming her into the side of the ring. Great way to start the match and tell a story, obviously Epiphany is meant to be bad ass and aggressive and she got that over with the attack.

Epiphany pretty much controlled most of the match and was compelling to watch, I felt. She plays the heel role well; arguing with the referee, gloating to the crowd etc. She certainly has the charisma down.

Not a bad match. This is the first time I’ve gotten to see Epiphany and I think she has a certain swagger.

What are your thoughts on the extra added OVW?

Two former WWE Women’s Champions dropped by last night’s SmackDown taping in Los Angeles, California. Pregnant Candice Michelle, who was released last May and injured Raw Diva, Melina attended the taping together.

Candice tweeted: “Picking up Melina then heading to SmackDown! I’m so excited to see everyone!” She then followed up with: “At SmackDown, so wonderful to see everyone, gotta go to baby class though!”

The Go Daddy girl also posted a picture of herself and Melina backstage which can be seen in full here.

Looks like the Divas’ blog wars of 2007 are behind them. Yay for Diva love-ins!

WWE.com has been going all nostalgic on us recently what with their catch-up with Ivory and adding Jazz and Stacy to the Alumni section. The fun times continue with an interview with former Women’s Champion, Molly Holly. Holly, who revealed last week that she doesn’t see herself inducted into the Hall of Fame, spoke to WWE for their ‘Where Are They Now?’ feature; it’s been about five years since Molly left WWE following WrestleMania 21.

Molly speaks on WWE’s original plan for her upon her debut as a Godfather ho:

“In my meeting with Jim Ross, he said a lot of the women start out with The Godfather,” Nora recalled. “I said to him, ‘Oh, sure, whatever works for you guys.’ But I was really hoping I would not be one of The Godfather’s ladies.”

Luckily for Nora, she was not paired with the over-the-top Superstar. Instead, she became Molly Holly, a spunky country bumpkin and cousin to the bickering team of Crash and Hardcore Holly.

“I really enjoyed being a Holly cousin,” Nora said. “Crash went out of his way to build my confidence. If I was nervous about something, he would assure me I could do it.”

Molly also discusses working in the women’s division under her new look as the short-haired brunette which saw her capture the Women’s Title twice:

“Wrestling Lita, Trish and Victoria was such a pleasure,” Greenwald said. “They are all so talented and I knew that whichever one of those girls I was wrestling that the fans would go away happy.”

Speaking on having her head shaved at WrestleMania XX, Molly says:

“They told me that there wasn’t going to be a Women’s Title Match,” Nora remembered. “So I figured I could either start slashing people’s tires or think of a way to get myself on the show.”

It’s time for some FCW love once again! This week, we’re catching up with an episode from two weeks ago [whoops] when AJ Lee defended the Queen of FCW crown in a match against the fairly new, Naomi Night. The brash new Diva and former Orlando Magic dancer has been on quite a roll in FCW of late and it seemed like a matter of time before she’d lock horns with the more experienced Queen of FC-Dub. How did she do? Let’s find out…

The early half of the match was controlled by Lee very well, despite only being in FCW for a short time, her experience on the independents certainly helps. She has a great ring presence and looked very natural in carrying her opponent and making them both look great. Going back to her early FCW matches, I think she’s found her feet in the WWE style and is much more confident in the ring these days and has much more fire whenever we see her, not dissimilar from a certain three-time Women’s Champ.

In the second act shall we call it, most of Night’s work in this match saw her keeping Lee grounded with some safe, if a little bland, submission moves. Though it’s perhaps best not to get too technical as she’s still green but I’m not sure, I feel we’ve seen more out of her and she could’ve put more in.

Once Lee took back control for the third act, she again looked great. As JR would call them, she had very ‘educated feet’ and hit some lovely kicks and front dropkicks. Her finisher, the standing sliced bread, is definitely unique and fun to watch — love the originality there [well, as original as wrestling can be]. Let’s hope she hangs onto that one.

All in all, the match was very much about AJ Lee and I guess since her crown was on the line, that makes sense. She did a great job and looked awesome in the ring. I hope she finds herself on the main roster soon.

Five time Women’s Champion, Mickie James has pushed back the release of her debut album ‘Strangers & Angels’ which was due for release next week. In a new blog, Mickie told fans that the album will now be released in mid-May.

She writes: “I have come to the decision to push back the release of my album “Strangers & Angels” to mid May. After WrestleMania, after the Draft, after the tours… . main focus now, as it should be, is to get myself 150% for WrestleMania first and foremost.”

Mickie, who was treated for staph infection earlier this month also discusses the extent of her injuries which threatens to take her out of the WrestleMania mix:

Then, this is the second time in 2 months that I have ever been sent home from the road, both for the same reason. A Staph Infection, but not just any, as I found out in the hospital it’s MRSA. The first was from the most recent Mexico Tour where I was sent to Tampa to be treated. Then it came back worse than before this last time during the live event Loop in Texas where I was sent home. Then immediately admitted to the hospital in Richmond. To all the WWE universe who came to any of the shows or have watched in the last few weeks to see me. I am truly sorry and please know that I wanted to be there more than anything. Both times I tried to fight it, I fought with the doctors. I fought with my boss.. to just let me work through it, “its just an infection.. No big deal… I’ve worked through worse with a smile on my face” but thankfully for me, they wouldn’t hear of it! I cant express how truly grateful I am that they didn’t listen to me.

I didn’t realize the severity of the infection and how bad it was. When i was admitted into the hospital I went straight into surgery to get the infection out of my body. They also told me I wouldn’t make it to Wrestlemania. I told them they were wrong.. Watch me! When I woke up i was devastated… My leg was in an immobilizer, my knee was sliced open with tubes coming from it t help drain it. As the days passed in the hospital I found out more and more about the infection, about how bad mine truly was. The nurses also explained to me what could have happened if it had gone a little longer untreated. The infection had already gotten into my bloodstream and I was extremely ill.. A few more day meant I could have lost my leg.. Even my life… So I really want to take this moment to say thank you to them all from the bottom of my heart… To our Doctors, the Dr.’s who treated me, and my Boss(who always has to deal with my stubborn ways..haha)! It is because of you that I am getting better everyday, That I am able to write this, that I have my leg, that I have my life, I love you, God Bless You!

In the past year alone since our first year milestone, we have accomplished so much that it boggles me. This started out as just a hobby and it’s become such a huge part of our lives and has opened many doors for us. It hasn’t been easy, you guys will probably never know just how much goes on behind the scenes and it can, at times, be much like having a real job. But I truly believe that the tight ship we run here is part of the reason we stand out and have had so much success in the past two years.

Earlier today, the company’s website uploaded a graphic which had the match labelled as such despite the stipulation not being mentioned on last night’s episode of Impact. It looks as though the stipulation has been dropped as the graphic has once again been changed with it now a seemingly a singles match for the belt.

Frankly, I much prefer this. I don’t think a stipulation match, as cool as it would be, is the best way to kick off a feud. Hopefully this will be the first in a series of matches between Daffney and Tara for the belt and I personally feel that the first match should always be a straight singles match and then you can go into stipulations in a rematch.
