May 24th, 2009 | Most people would want to avoid a physical confrontation with Awesome Kong, so you almost couldn’t blame Angelina Love for doing her best to keep away from her. She put her friends in the path of destruction until there was no one left to defend her, and she had no choice but to put her Knockouts Title on the line against Kong at 2009′s Sacrifice. For most of the match Angelina was treated like a rag doll, but a combination of quick thinking and some well-applied mystery spray allowed Angelina to escape with her title in tow. Well, she didn’t actually get to escape. Kong recovered quickly enough to hit Angelina with not one, but two Implant Busters before leaving, looking like the most triumphant loser we’ve ever seen.

As previously reported, the wedding was designed as a surprise for Gail with Irvine making all of the arrangements.

Gail told the website: “He wanted to give me the fairy tale wedding. I didn’t know the colors of my wedding or what my bouquet would look like! But I trusted his taste.”

Robert added: “I cried when she walked down the aisle. She was jaw-dropping – this glow of beauty, wearing a dress with a long train. She looked so beautiful.”

May 23rd, 2005 | After turning on Kane the week before, Lita took to the mic to perform the requisite post-heel turn explanation. With Edge by her side, she asked the crowd if they could blame her for betraying Kane, citing all the horrible things he had done to her (kidnapping, forced sex, pregnancy, forced wedding..) and, unlike the typical heel promo, her points rang true, but of course that didn’t stop the masses from screaming “slut!” at her. She said she had used Kane to get the things she wanted, looked straight into the camera and told him that she never loved him, and could never love someone who was as big a sick, twisted, sweaty freak as he was. On top of all that, Lita revealed that she had been seeing Edge behind Kane’s back for months. It was a heel turn that seemed more justified than most, but just despicable enough to make her a true heel.

Hello out there, and if you’re reading this, I am not your loyal Khaleesi. She has taken the night off to celebrate her Khal Christian’s wonderful Intercontinental Title win at Over the Limit, therefore I am here to take over this week. Raw had it’s good and not so good moments. Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly squared off once again, this time with a shocked Layla watching from a backstage monitor. Aside from that, Eve (and her glasses) made their presence felt, as did Psycho AJ in a tremendous segment alongside CM Punk. Now let’s get to recapping so I can go indulge myself in the joyful WrestleMania DVD I just purchased.

Out to the arena we go, as the queen of HOLLA-ing, Kelly Kelly, steps out looking very American tonight. They plug that Kelly is once again featured in the Maxim Hot 100, but make no mention that the Divas Champion is as well. Poor Layla. Meanwhile, Beth Phoenix makes her way out next, and she does not look happy tonight to be squaring off with Kelly after losing the Divas Championship match the night before. Nevertheless, the bell sounds and Beth spears Kelly to the ground. She works over the buxom blonde with a few kicks and a body slam, before dropping an elbow and a leg drop for a near fall. Suddenly, we are taken to a shocked Layla, clearly upset at the lack of mentioning her inclusion in the Maxim Hot 100.

Back to the match where Kelly scores few forearms and a kick, as she runs off the ropes with a nice hurricanrana for a two count. Beth then levels K2 with a clothesline and grazes her head against the canvas. Phoenix hoists Kelly up by the hair, but ends up missing a splash in the corner! Kelly scores with a Thesz Press and then runs off the ropes with the whirlybird headscissors to send Beth’s head in the corner. Kelly then unloads with a series of kicks and smashes to Beth’s skull, before setting up for the handspring elbow! K2 goes for it… but NO, Beth chops her on the back of the head which looks to daze Kelly as the Glamazon then hits the Glam Slam for the victory. Beth poses celebrating her win, as shocked Layla stands waiting for Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole to mention her being on the Maxim Hot 100.

We head backstage to see CM Punk walking down a hallway… which can only mean one thing! My ears fill with the joyous faint voice of “Punk! Punk!” AJ runs up and says hi to the WWE Champion. She wants to tell him that she really enjoyed watching him beat up Daniel Bryan last night, which sparks him to call her sadistic! Psycho AJ begins to emerge, but Punk stops her and wonders if she knows she’s been acting like a fool this entire time. This reduces AJ to tears, as a weirded out Punk doesn’t exactly know what to do. He offers a hug and tries to console her that everything will be fine, wanting her to stop crying. Suddenly, AJ pops up with no tears and a smile, as Punk tells her that he digs crazy chicks! He then walks off leaving AJ a sobbing mess of brilliance.

Thoughts: Kelly vs Beth was pretty much the standard match we’ve come to expect from them. It was used to promote Kelly’s Maxim Hot 100 slot, while keeping Beth looking dominant in her next challenge against Layla I’m assuming. Nothing new to be honest. Beth and Kelly matches sort of blend together for me outside of a few of the pay per view ones they had last year, and with only a few minutes on Raw, they don’t really have the time to make them stand out like when they faced off on PPV. I guess it was nice that Layla was at least acknowledged, although I don’t get why they didn’t mention her being on the Maxim Hot 100 as well? Pretty much just the standard to expect for Raw, although I’m glad the match wasn’t under a minute for once.

The AJ/Punk segment was great in my opinion. AJ is becoming that shining beacon of light in the Divas division, and by getting to be involved with storylines surrounding guys like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, she is only going to keep getting better and getting the time that the women don’t typically see. I’m loving psycho AJ more than I have loved a female wrestling character in a long time, and I look forward to where this is going to take her. She deserves to get all of the spotlight in the world and I’m really glad that if a Diva was going to be picked for this role, it was her.

ROH star Maria Kanellis and TNA Knockout Winter are featured in a cool new sizzle reel for an upcoming online game featuring female fighters.

Fantasy Women Battles is described as a “high-concept website/game involving beautiful fantasy women, each wielding a unique set of weaponry and each with outstanding fighting skills. The women are pitted against one another and fight to the death.”

Kanellis’ character is a demon from hell, while Winter’s is a pirate.

The list, which was revealed yesterday, ranks Kelly at 38 while Layla is at 95.

Speaking to WWE.com, Kelly — a former Maxim covergirl — said: “I am so excited. Honestly I had no idea. I thought maybe I’d end up in the 60s, or if I was lucky, in the 50s. But when I got 38, I thought this is the craziest thing!”

“I beat Kate Upton, who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I beat Adriana Lima, who’s in Victoria’s Secret – all of these big names. I couldn’t be happier!”

Meanwhile, Layla added: “I’m in total shock. I’ve only been back about four weeks and I didn’t even know I was nominated. The WWE Universe voted me in!”

“I want to say thank you very much to everybody who voted me in. … I’ve never been in Maxim. So I feel very special. Thank you, guys. It’s awesome. It’s been a great 2012 so far. I couldn’t ask for anything more this year.”

Thoughts: I don’t really have much of an opinion on this one way or the other, however, I will say that Lilian has been as classy as ever in the face of all of the criticism thrown her way since her return. I admire her.

Greetings everybody, and welcome to the official one stop shop for WWE Over the Limit… Diva wise, that is. This year’s show brought forth what I believe to be the third female match to take place at said pay per view, and it was a doozy as Beth Phoenix challenged Divas Champion, Layla, with her coveted butterfly emblazoned title on the line. I’ve seen many remarks on Twitter regarding the match, but I’m sorry to say that the match was not the biggest of my concerns when the festivities got underway because… because… FINALLY the Glamasuit has come back to the WWE! It’s been a long time coming, but Miss Phoenix finally pulled the trigger and returned to the gear that has stuck true to her throughout most of her career. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get started!

The Divas Title logo flashes on our screen as out walks our Glamasuit wearing Glamazon. She looks ready for business as she gracefully walks down the entrance ramp and flips into the ring. We are taken to a brief recap of the actions leading to this match regarding Layla’s return at last month’s Extreme Rules where she filled Beth’s spot in the Divas Title match. Following this comes Layla, who looks happy to be here and receives a SHUCKY DUCKY QUACK QUAAACCCKKKK from Booker T. Layla poses on the ropes as the bell sounds and we get things underway between the two ladies.

They lock up, as Layla takes the early advantage. Beth hoists her into the air, but this does not affect the hold. Phoenix sends Layla into the ropes and scores a fist to the face, before dragging the Divas Champ to the corner and blasting her face across the turnbuckle. From there, the challenger once again tosses Layla towards the ropes, but Layla comes back with an arm drag. She follows it up with a facebuster and refuses to let up on her competition. The champion is sent into the corner, where she flips off with a crossbody for a near fall. Baseball slide dropkick continues the pain, but only for another close call.

Beth sends Layla into the corner, but Layla fights back with an elbow and a few shots. Layla gets a leg up on Beth’s shoulder, but Phoenix hits an awesome move in which she drops Layla down in pain. From there, the challenger continues to target the injured leg with a few unique holds near the steel pole. We get a replay of what happened, as Beth slides Layla into the ring and takes her down by the injury yet again. Layla lets out a unique shriek, while the dominance of Beth Phoenix continues on.

She locks a half Boston Crab, sparking Layla to debate whether submitting is a possibility or not. Layla fights through the pain and kicks Beth towards the ropes. Phoenix bounces off them, as Layla then kicks her in the knee and scores a roll up to no avail. This comeback is short lived though, as Beth takes Layla into the ropes and continues to work over the knee. Phoenix hoists her competition up, but Layla scores with a dropkick to send Beth outside and buy some time.

Layla continues the fight and goes for a spin kick, but Beth ducks and lifts her up military press style. Layla then manages to just barely counter into a DDT. She slowly goes for the cover, but Beth kicks out at two. The champion with a bridge pin, but only two again. Beth lifts Layla up and backs her into the corner, where she proceeds to hoist her onto the top rope. Layla sets up for her awesome flipping stunner move, but she ends up landing on her feet and Beth goes for the Glam Slam! Layla rolls through, but Beth rolls back for a two count! Phoenix kicks Layla down at her knee, but Layla then hits the Lay-Out out of nowhere to retain the title!

Thoughts: I’m going to be honest and say that I’m probably the only person who was not really feeling the match. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good match and it got a lot of time, but I just felt… I don’t know, indifferent. Maybe it’s because I saw a lot of people saying how great it was that I was expecting more, but I thought there was some problems with their timing in a few parts. That’s to be expected though given that Layla has not had a match go this long since her return, so I’m not faulting anyone for it. I will say that I felt from Layla’s comeback to the end was great and I really did enjoy that part a lot. It was definitely one of the better Diva matches we’ve seen, but I feel like Layla and Beth could surpass it if given another shot together at the next pay per view.

Match Rating: 3.5/5

According to the website, there was an argument between Lilian and fellow ring announcer Justin Roberts, resulting in Garcia “storming off”.

The argument was said to be visible to the live crowd and stemmed from announcing mishaps that Garcia made at the pay per view.

Additionally, PWInsider reports that there is “heat” on Garcia for said mishaps.

Since returning to WWE last year, Lilian has had several mishaps when making introductions, including introducing Zack Ryder as “Jack Swagger” at a SmackDown taping.

The Divas Champion, Layla, who received a high number of write-in votes, makes her Hot 100 debut at #95.

Meanwhile Kelly Kelly, who ranked at #82 last year, moves into the top half of the list at #38 this year.

Elsewhere, former Diva Stacy Keibler — whose fame has shot up since last year’s list as the girlfriend of George Clooney — ranks at #51.

Kelly covered Maxim magazine last year, also.

May 21st, 2006 | Jillian was one of those Divas who never got a real moment in the spotlight, known more for her ability to enthusiastically sing very, very poorly. So, it was nice to see that her feud with Melina gave her a chance to have a big-time Pay Per View match at 2006′s Judgment Day. It was billed as a “grudge match” and fittingly, the match was far from clean, filled with hair-pulls and chokes. Even the end was muddy, Jillian pinning Melina while the latter’s hand was holding the bottom rope. The referee did not see this, and awarded the victory to Jillian. Furious, Melina attacked interviewer Kristal Marshall post-match when she tried to ask her some poorly-timed questions. Unfortunately for Melina, she couldn’t even best an interviewer, and was chased off, insult added to injury.

Marking 190 days as champion today, Gail surpasses Madison Rayne‘s 188 day reign to take the crown for single longest title reign.

Kim returned to TNA after three years in WWE last October, quickly winning the Knockouts Title in her very first pay per view match at November’s Turning Point pay per view, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Awesome Kong — Kharma in WWE — still holds the record for longest reigning champion in history; her two title reigns rank at a combined 347 days. Madison Rayne comes second, logging 299 days as champion over three title reigns. Kim now ranks third with 275 days as champion between her first title reign in 2007 and her current reign.

Kim was of course the very first Knockouts Champion.

In hindsight, it seems quitting WWE and returning to TNA was the right choice indeed.

Do you think Gail can break Kharma’s record?

While she’s not listed as an option in the official poll, Divas Champion Layla has proven to be one of the most popular write-in ballots for the Maxim Hot 100 this year with fans writing her name in the box to include other women.

Maxim reports: “Though voting is still going on, we thought we’d take a moment to honor some of the people’s choice stand-outs so far: The names you loved so much that you took the time to write them in at the bottom of the ballot. We put them in alphabetical order below to keep their positions a sexy mystery.”

Based on this, it looks as though Layla will indeed be included in Maxim’s Hot 100 this year.

The article adds: “This British-born dancer, model and WWE Diva could easily knock any of us off of our feet. We feel a little light-headed just thinking about it.”

The only WWE Diva listed as one of the official voting options is Kelly Kelly.

The Divas Championship remains firmly around the waist of new champion Layla, proving her mettle in her first super competitive match since returning from a serious ACL and MCL injury.

Layla and Beth Phoenix battled in a solid match with the Glamazon paying particular focus to Layla’s injured knee. The Divas Champ took her licks, but ultimately managed to take the victory with her patented Lay-Out neckbreaker.

The match is the first time since her return that Layla has had to perform in a highly competitive match and looked as though she hadn’t skipped a beat in the ring.

Tonight at Extreme Rules, new Divas Champion Layla faces Beth Phoenix for the butterfly belt. Can the flawless one prove her worth as champion against the Glamazon? The Diva Dirt team weigh in…

Bobby: I’m torn on how I think this will go. On one hand, Layla just won the Divas Championship so seeing her lose this quickly would be kind of weird, especially right back to Beth. On the other hand, with Eve, Aksana, and Rosa Mendes all in non-wrestling capacities, that leaves us with a resounding Beth, Natalya, and Maxine (note: I’m not exactly sure what side AJ is on right now) as the only actively competing heels in the division compared to what seems like a billion faces. Would WWE be willing to push Nattie or Maxine to the forefront? Considering Layla has already beaten both of them since her reign started, I would guess not. I really don’t know where things are going, but I’m going to guess Layla retains the title, even if to just drop it back to Beth next month because I feel like this feud will continue since WWE doesn’t seem to want to go in a Natalya or Maxine route.

Cryssi: I think it’s pretty obvious that Layla will retain tonight. It wouldn’t make much sense to have her return a couple of weeks ago, win the championship, and then just drop it. That said, I truly hope something happens tonight that gets Layla over as a solo champion. She’s not been well received by the live crowd so far, but I think it’s a combination of her theme music, which is still synonymous with Michelle McCool, and the lack of effort by creative. They took the right step by letting Layla attack Beth on Raw. It was brief, but it showed a spark of something, and I liked that. Tonight’s match should be a good one.

Erin: Layla’s just getting going in this title reign, but it wouldn’t be the first time there was a quick title switch. Still, I think there’s more for the WWE to do with Layla as a champ (Kharma returning as a heel?) rather than having Beth hold the title again so soon after her long reign. I’m hoping there’s more in store with Layla at the forefront, and for that to happen she’ll have to be champ, unless she starts some back-and-forth feud with Beth. I’ll just go with my gut and say Layla wins and retains the title.

Katelyn: Layla. It’s too soon for her to drop the title and I’m not overly interested in another Beth Phoenix title reign just yet.

Melanie: This should be a good match, but the build-up hasn’t exactly set my world alight. The two week build has been ‘eh’ at best. Beth and Layla are capable of doing so much more, especially Layla on the microphone. My worst fear has been realized with WWE making Layla a generic babyface upon her return. Before her injury, Layla was on the microphone almost every week getting her character over, but now she can’t seem to get a promo. Disappointing. That said, I’m looking forward to what Layla and Beth do in the ring. History shows us they have good chemistry. I’m going with Layla for the victory.

Steven: Considering how Beth unceremoniously dropped the title a while back and how much hype has come along with Layla’s return, I think this is a pretty easy match to call. I predict that Layla will leave Over the Limit as champion and move on to a new challenger the following night on Raw.

WWE’s Executive Vice President of Creative, Stephanie McMahon, spoke to IGN.com at USA Network’s upfront event a few days ago, at which she and John Cena announced the expansion of Raw to a three-hour long show, beginning July 23rd (Raw’s 1000th episode).

In the brief interview, she comments on the challenges they face by adding an extra hour of content each week:

It’s going to be the first-ever regularly scheduled three-hour program on television and I think we’ve got a pretty good handle on it thus far. You know, we do a three hour show called a pay-per-view almost every month and [with] Monday Night RAW, we’ve done three hours before, so we feel great about it.

She also revealed that there will be a lot more audience inclusion, with fans being allowed the opportunity to determine matches and more.

This is going to be the most interactive show in television history. Our audience is going to have the chance to effect something in the show every week. Matches, stipulations, anything and everything. Different things every week.

When pressed about a return to Raw, Stephanie teasingly answered:

Who knows? Maybe you’ve got to tune into the 1000th RAW on July 23rd!

With SHIMMER only taping DVDs two or three weekends in a year, their plan is to run monthly shows in between the SHIMMER tapings, which will bridge the gap between shows, and allow their talent to get more work in the process. It will also serve as a place to newer talent to attempt to get their name out there. The company is currently assembling their talent roster and they have signed an exclusive deal with the venue they will be running.

It’s being reported that Lexie Fyfe and Daffney – both former SHIMMER stars – have played their own roles in the creation of the company, with Fyfe acting as an agent and a liaison between SHIMMER and this new promotion, whereas Daffney will assist in securing talent and likely appear as part of a storyline.

That’s not all, though – Gabe Sapolsky (current vice president of Dragon Gate USA, owner of EVOLVE and former booker to ROH and FIP) will be involved in a supervisory/promotional role. PWInsider also reports that Florida Underground Wrestling promoter Dontay Brown will act as part of the senior management and will be in charge of promotions.

In addition to all that, all of the events will be streamed via iPPV on WWNLive.com.

Sal Hamaoui commented on the creation of the company by saying:

I’ve been involved with SHIMMER from the very start and I’m very proud what Dave and everyone at SHIMMER have done to legitimize women’s pro wrestling. I’m extremely happy to be part of this expansion and very excited to be working with such a talented and driven group of exceptional people.

An official announcement, including the name of the group, is forthcoming.

May 20th, 2001 | At Judgment Day 2001, Chyna finally faced a Diva she deemed fit to challenge her for her Women’s Title: Lita. Still, recognizing a worthy challenger didn’t make Chyna any more modest, as evidenced by the fact that she strode to the ring with peacock feathers framing her head. Lita gave Chyna more of a challenge than any other Diva before her, but she still couldn’t best the 9th Wonder of the World: a powerbomb did her in, and Chyna retained her title. Post-match, the champion congratulated the challenger on a well-fought match, and they hugged in a genuine show of good sportsmanship.

Chyna has been hospitalized after passing out in the lobby at the convention, according to the report.

As previously reported, Chyna collapsed at the same convention on Friday night, and on Thursday night, was ejected from a party after passing out in a pool.

WWE reports that “[a]n accident involving at least five cars occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. after a Mercedes in a turning lane reportedly switched lanes, causing a truck to jackknife and a series of successive collisions.”

Rosa told the website: “My neck and back were really hurting. My body is my job. I was so scared that I was not going to be able to wrestle. I was in a lot of pain.”

“Nothing’s broken. I feel like I can wrestle but the whole right side of my neck and back have a burning sensation.”

Wendi is just one of the inductees being honored this weekend in Amsterdam, New York.

The latest honor comes just one month after Wendi received one of the highest honors at the Cauliflower Alley Club reunion in Las Vegas. Wendi was honored with the Lou Thesz Lifetime Achievement Award.

Along with that award and her WWE Hall of Fame induction, earned in 2010, Wendi has been on quite a roll these past two years!

The website states that Chyna was kicked out of a party at a hotel on Thursday night after ‘causing a scene’ and passing out in a pool.

“Chyna pissed off multiple party-goers with her crazy antics … most notably when she jumped in the pool naked with a friend,” says the report.

Chyna was ejected after she was found passed out in the pool.

Thoughts: These multiple incidents in such a short space of time are pretty concerning. It’s sad to read about.

Both are decorated in the Divas division with multiple Divas and Women’s Championship reigns between them, but which Diva can make it count on pay per view?

Speaking to E!, Chyna said: “It’s weird because I’ve been feeling so good lately, almost like She-Hulk, my character in Vivid’s Avengers XXX. But then I started to get a cold and feel weary. I think I overdid it with the cold medicine and a glass of wine at lunch today. I feel much better now and intend to go out to the pool.”

Meanwhile a rep for the expo said: “She has been feeling flu-like symptoms and took some over the counter medication to combat this, and possibly mixed it with a beverage during lunch. She was helped to a vehicle at the show and brought back to her hotel to rest—not a hospital as reported by some outlets.”

A car reportedly hit Rosa’s car while she was stopped at a red light.

Rosa has been taken to hospital for evaluation.

Thoughts: It doesn’t appear as though this is part of a storyline. Our thoughts go out to Rosa.

“[Chyna] was scheduled to appear before fans at the 2012 Exxxotica Expo on Friday but was found slumped over and passed out backstage at the Miami Beach Convention Center at around 4 p.m. local time and was taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics.”

The story is developing, and we’ll update this post as soon as we hear more.

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting that Chyna didn’t collapse backstage, but “in front of the main stage at a XXX convention in Miami “. TMZ’s version of the story is that she wasn’t taken to hospital, but taken back to her hotel after being checked out by paramedics on-site.

Excuse me for moving away from my usual witty openings, but it’s a beautiful day here in the land of Impact Wrestling! Yes, the company did announce they will be airing live throughout the summer, which excited me to no end because the Knockout matches are so much more fun when you don’t know things ahead of time and can watch them unfold… but, BUT, on top of that, news has also broken that TNA will be giving me what I’ve been wanting to happen for so long: a Knockouts VP! Yes, I’m heartbroken it’s not my Queen, Miss Karen, but at this point I will take anyone to get them actual speaking roles on the show again. And honestly, I have nothing against Brooke Hogan. It might turn out to be fun, who knows?!

But both Brooke and the live Impacts don’t begin for another two weeks, so let’s get on to this week’s show. It was a big triple threat match to determine the Knockouts Champion, as Gail Kim defended her belt against challengers Brooke Tessmacher and Velvet Sky. This was actually what I expected to happen at the next pay per view, but no shame in giving it to us now I suppose. On top of that, we also had ODB compete in a wildcard battle royal, and the smitten kitten herself, Madison Rayne made her presence known in a backstage segment with Gail, AND at ringside during said battle royal to witness her crush that is still a mystery. So let’s get started!

We head backstage to see Gail Kim and Madison Rayne walking around. Gail is NOT pleased once again with the things Hulk is making her do as Knockouts Champion, having to defend her title against two women that she’s already beaten. Gail screams at Madison asking if she’s listening to her; Madison claims she was, but she seems very giggly. Kim asks about a guy, but Madison shrugs it off and goes to fix her hair. She then wishes Kim luck in whatever it is she’s doing! Our smitten kitten exits the scene, but Gail’s not out of the clear just yet as both Brooke and Velvet approach her in a cheery mood. They both mention Gail’s cheating tactics when discussing “fairness”. Velvet claims that one of them is going to beat Gail for the title tonight, and that… that’s fair!

A graphic of the Knockouts Championship flashes on the screen as… YES! The weekly dose of Christy Hemme’s pan up shot is complete! And it’s a double header as Velvet Sky is making her entrance to the rousing applause of us all and Taz as well. Velvet fires the crowd up and lets the pigeons loose after some scouting around. Oh heck, here we go. Out comes Brooke in her great new coat, but as always, my attention goes to that addicting rock theme. Next thing I know, Velvet is stretching on the ropes and Brooke is posing for the crowd, as my theme song heart is simply about to combust thanks to the STILL addicting theme of our Knockouts Champion. If you can’t tell by now, I’m a fan of good theme songs and these Knockouts certainly have some of the best. Miss Hogan best not change that!

The referee holds the belt up as I stuff a batch of gummy bears into my mouth while I still have time to eat before all hell breaks loose. Suddenly, Tessmacher and Sky exchange punches to Gail, as Gail tries to escape to no avail. A series of jawbreakers follows up, with Brooke hitting a forearm smash. The two try to high five, but brilliantly realize this is not a tag match. Brooke with a school girl for a near fall, as Sky counter-attacks with a small package for a close count, and this term does not set well with Taz upon viewing female matches. Sky gets a headlock on, but Brooke fights out. Velvet with a kick, but as she goes for a new move, Gail pulls her out of the ring and clotheslines Brooke to the ground.

Gail proceeds to choke Tessmacher on the second rope and knock Velvet back outside. Kim plants Brooke with a sidewalk slam, as she locks in a boot to the throat and then applies a Boston Crab. Velvet, in turn, decides to apply a dragon sleeper onto Gail! Nice! Gail shoves Velvet away, but Velvet breaks the hold and takes the fight to Gail. Sky goes for a splash, but Gail dodges out of the way and applies the Flying Dragon submission move on Brooke! Tessmacher tries to fight out, but Velvet amazingly rolls Gail up WITH the move intact! She only gets a two count, but as she goes to attack Gail, Brooke grabs the leg.

The buddies start to fight, with Velvet going for the In Yo Face! Brooke tries to counter it with the Tess-Shocker, but to no avail. Both ladies spin around right into a sick missile dropkick from Gail! We see a replay of the sick move, while all three attempt to get up. Gail goes for the Eat Defeat, but Brooke shoves her into the corner. Sky then hits the In Yo Face! She goes for the cover, but Gail sends Velvet out of the ring and steals the victory! Gail retains her title, much to the dismay of both Velvet and Brooke in a phenomenal match.

Also, check out ODB as she competes in the wildcard battle royal and Madison Rayne also makes an appearance on the stage scouting her “crush”.

Thoughts: Okay, I loved the pay per view match and I loved this one a lot as well. Gail, Brooke and Velvet shined with some fresh offense and creative spots that looked so good coming together just right. Brooke can really hold her own in the ring now and it’s amazing to see her come so far from the days of dancing with Extreme Expose. I still fear that Gail’s reign is going to be ended by someone debuting in the Open Fight Night concept since she’s running thin on people to face, but we’ll see what Miss Hogan has in store for our Knockouts Champion I suppose. All I want is personalities and speaking roles. The Knockouts have fantastic matches on a weekly basis that do not need any changing, but they don’t really get the chance to have characters like they used to. Every face is kind of like the “smile and wave” type, and well, Gail is pretty much the only heel we ever see on TV anymore so I can’t really comment on that side of things. Miss Hogan, if you read this, we want segments!

Based on last night’s initial taping, it looks like the NXT we knew has changed drastically, now incorporating lots of new faces from FCW, a new General Manager and new commentators.

Brooke will serve as the executive in charge of the Knockouts division.

TNA President Dixie Carter said: “I have really gotten to know Brooke by working with her on her music career this past year and a half. When we did talk wrestling, I not only loved her passion and knowledge of it, but the fresh, creative ideas she would come up with. She is very savvy. I asked if she would consider teaming up with me in this capacity while she also worked on her music, and I was thrilled when she said ‘yes.’ A big personality runs in her genes, obviously, and I know she is going to take an already exciting division of Impact Wrestling to another level.”

Brooke’s debut coincides with Impact going live in a new time slot of 8pm ET from May 31st.

And yes, that only took fifteen minutes to come up with but that’s the sacrifice I make to stand out with these openings! Welcome to your weekly NXT recap, although if things continue like they were on this week’s episode, I’m not sure how cheery I can continue to be, but more on that later. This episode brings us the final show traveling on the road with SmackDown, as the first ever NXT/FCW taping takes place at Full Sail University later today! It’s only fitting that the final Divas match we get to witness in front of this huge crowd is beteen Kaitlyn and Maxine. And well, that was it for tonight. Sigh, once again… more on that later.

We trot out to the arena as my new favorite song, SPIN THE BOTTLE, sways its way into my eardrum. Kaitlyn walks out in some new bangs, but my focus is on this theme song as I sing along vibrantly. “Why don’t you spin the botttleeeee, spin it right arounnnddd, duh duh duh duh duh duh”. Next thing I know, Kaitlyn is standing in the ring and we are cut off by the perky theme song of the not so perky Maxine. I’m very disappointed we are not treated to the “new” Maxine, who would have called Kaitlyn by the name of “Katie” and graced us with that charming presence. Nonetheless, Maxine walks out in some new gear and a very, very dark tan.

William Regal notices Maxine’s vibrant change of skin color as well, which leaves us to believe it’s real and Mad Max enjoyed the sun a little too much. Spray tanners don’t exist in Redux world!

The two circle around the ring and Maxine goes to lock up, but Kaitlyn reverses into a brief roll up that Maxine breaks quickly. Mad Max shoves Kaitlyn off a tad, but Kaitlyn quickly bodyslams her and hits a few legdrops for a near fall. Maxine with a punch, as she leaps onto Kaitlyn with the Dragon Sleeper! Kaitlyn thankfully manages to back Maxine into the corner and then hoist her into the air. Maxine keeps the hold in tact, but Kaitlyn lifts her back up once more and this time drops her onto the ropes.

Kaitlyn tosses Maxine in the ring, but Max rolls out and catches her breath for a second. Kaitlyn quickly tries to pull her back into the ring, but Maxine drops her neck on the second rope with a vicious manner. Maxine pulls Kaitlyn out onto the ring apron and… GOOD GOD, basically chops the skin off Kaitlyn’s chest. From there, Maxine applies a chin lock as the crowd gets behind Kaitlyn to break out. She attempts said comeback, but Maxine controls her and slams her head into the canvas. Maxine reverts to a knee over the throat, as she continues her utter dominance of the season three winner.

Queen Maxine works over Kaitlyn’s head again, as William Regal puts over Maxine as the person who has made the biggest impact on NXT! I agree! Kaitlyn fights out of the Queen’s clutches, but not for long as Maxine drops her with a clothesline for a series of nearfalls. Mad Max slams Kaitlyn’s head over and over, as I wonder if Kaitlyn is still sane through all of this head bashing. She must be because she managed to dodge a running attempt from Maxine and drop toe hold her right into the turnbuckle! Kaitlyn mounts her comeback carefully, hitting a nice dropkick and a huge leaping shoulder tackle!

Kaitlyn with a punch as she sends Maxine off the ropes and runs off the opposing side with an awesome crossbody, as it now looks like Kaitlyn has been cut open. I swear, Kaitlyn is becoming Ric Flair with the amount of times she gets busted open. Maxine hooks a Small Package for a close call, but Kaitlyn kicks out. Nevertheless, Maxine’s tan seems to have also done even more wonders for her in ring savvy, as she capitalizes right away on Kaitlyn and locks on a sick bridging headlock! Kaitlyn gets to a vertical base, but Maxine keeps the hold in tact and transitions it into a DDT!

That’s right, Maxine, show the world why you deserve to be in a larger role when it comes to this division. Kaitlyn crawls towards the corner, but unfortunately for her Maxine hops on the back and applies a choke hold! Thankfully for our NXT winner though, she quickly manages to spin Maxine around onto her feet and drop her with the full nelson into a sit out bomb using her legs! Maxine tries to fight, but she ultimately taps. Oh heck, here we go… SPIN THE BOTTLE! Kaitlyn celebrates with the fans at ringside, as Mad Max plots for another day.

Thoughts: Okay, before we break down this match, I want to discuss NXT. I know “change” is coming, but if said “change” is cutting out the backstage segments, and scrapping like every story that was going on such as JTG/Alicia Fox, the Percy Watson attacks, and the “new” Maxine, I want this change to take it’s sorry behind and hit the bricks. NXT tonight was basically Superstars with yellow ropes and I do not want my hidden gem of the company to become that. I’m hoping this was just a mere roadblock in our travels to Full Sail University, but if NXT becomes “Superstars LITE” weekly, I’m not going to be a happy camper.

Okay, now with that out of my system, the match tonight was great, and I mean really, really great. I always felt like every Kaitlyn/Maxine match was competing for second place since my favorite (the one they had with AJ at ringside) could not be touched, but tonight just shoved that one out of the way. And in non-match news, Maxine’s new gear looked tremendous on her and I honestly think I prefer it to the older type. I still like that NXT at least gave us a long Divas match, though. I guess the plus side to the removal of basically every storyline is that the matches got a ridiculously awesome amount of time. That’s my positive moment through all of this, but I swear if I go another NXT like this I’m not sure what I will do. Give me back JTG and Alicia Fox! Give me back smiling “Tammy”-calling Maxine! Give me back Percy’s attacks! Superstars version 2.0 is okay for now, but next week is a different story.

The move means that Raw will now start at 8pm ET every week.

Will this mean more time and storyline development for the Divas? Fingers crossed.

Elsewhere, TNA and Spike TV announced that Impact Wrestling will be going live on a weekly basis through the summer beginning May 31st, the same night the show moves to a new time slot of 8pm ET.

May 17th, 2004 | After being kidnapped by Kane 2 weeks prior, Lita‘s match with Trish Stratus was interrupted by the Big Red Machine, who told Lita that he needed an answer from her that night. The question? Well, that was a mystery, but a pretty easy mystery to solve when one saw the look on Kane’s face. Later that night, Lita stopped Kane from straight-up decapitating Matt Hardy and gave him the answer he wanted: yes. Kane was pleased at this and hugged her from behind, leaving no question as to what he had in mind.
