Brandy Dropped From Label And Management!!!

R&B singer Brandy is in search of a new record deal.

The 30-year-old singer was just dropped by her label Epic Records because of the lackluster sales of from her comeback CD, Human.

Released on Dec. 8, 2008, the CD has only sold 196,509 units to date according to SoundScan.

She was signed to Epic when Charlie Walk was president of the label. Now that Amanda Ghost is president, she is the one who decided to let Brandy go.

"Her friend Brandon Creed that works as an A&R representative at Epic Records has been making calls to see if other labels would be interested in signing her," a record company source told me.

In addition, Brandy has also parted ways with her management. She had been represented in recent months by Jay-Z's Roc Nation Management.

The singer's relationship with Roc Nation supposedly dissolved because of "creative differences."

A source confirms that Brandy's relationship with Roc Nation was the only thing keep her label, Epic Records, from dumping her.

A popular L.A. hotspot is celebrating Michael Jackson's life and music with a one-night-only extravaganza on Thursday.

Universal CityWalk will become "Universal MoonWalk" starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The multi-media tribute to the King of Pop will include outdoor screenings of 'The Wiz' and "Michael Jackson's Thriller" on two giant screens located at either end of CityWalk, and there will also be a "live" dance retrospective of Michael's entire musical career.

It's all part of CityWalk's ongoing Summer Block Party, a free summer marathon of movies and music that runs through August 30th. CLICK HERE for more information.

It’s no secret that celebrities love fashion, so it comes as little surprise that Kylie Minogue and Mickey Rourke stopped by Couture Fashion Week in Paris, France.

Earlier yesterday (July 8), the “In My Arms” singer was among hundreds of people that gathered to watch fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier present his 2009/2010 winter collection inspired by 1930s and 1940s movie stars.

Miss Minogue looked stunning as she sat front row at the Haute Couture show.

Kylie was there seeking inspiration for costumes for her first North American concert dates in October (Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana will share the wardrobe credits).

"Celebrate," the lead single from Madonna's upcoming Greatest Hits package "Celebration" is set to hit radio waves around the world on July 28th!

Those who attended the Sticky & Sweet Tour already managed to hear a glimpse of the lead single from the new Madonna collection titled "Celebration".

"Celebrate" can indeed be heard in the show during the "Holiday" number.

Bits of both the new single and Madonna's oldie "Everybody" are sampled in the song, although fans should not be confused by the vocals introducing the song (Celebration, Celebration) which are those from Holiday.

Speaking of new songs, "Revolver" featuring Lil' Wayne, is now the only second new track to be part of the Greatest Hits package, while "Broken," the other track produced by Paul Oakenfold won't be released.

Entertainment Weekly critic Ken Tucker about Mariah's apology:

Mariah Carey apologized for her performance at yesterday's Michael Jackson memorial, saying she "wasn't able to pull it together and really do it right," and that she was "sorry." She made the comments via her Twitter page. Check out her version of "I'll Be There" and I'll tell you why I think she's being too hard on herself.

I don't think Carey has anything to apologize for. In fact, at a time when so many singers are trying for the kind of note-for-note "perfection" that shows like American Idol have convinced too much of the population is the way singers should sound, I found Carey's emotionally jagged performance all the more moving. Indeed, this is what first-rate pop singing is truly about: emotion expressed through the grain of the voice, not impeccable, often sterile, pitch and timbre.

And here's what MSNBC reporter Courtney Hazlett had to say about Mariah's performance:

"I wanted to play Mariah Carey right there because she's getting a lot of criticism for not hitting some notes. I think she was the only performer who didn't get a chance to rehearse at the Staples Center prior to this memorial service. That goes counter to everything you're taught in 'How To Be a Celebrity/Singer' school. She wanted to be there. She was clearly emotional. She could only make it happen if she didn't rehearse so I say that's fantastic that she did this and it really speaks to exactly why the people who stood on that stage stood on that stage - they wanted to be there for Michael Jackson."

Mariah Carey had the difficult task of being the first performer at the Michael Jackson memorial on Tuesday.

And when her voice cracked in the first few moments of her cover of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There," she said she felt like she disappointed everyone.

On the "Today" show Wednesday (July 8), Carey described how hard it was for her to sing on the show and how seeing the casket made it difficult for her to get through the performance.

"I feel a little bit like I let everybody down, but I really did try and it was difficult," she said. "But you know what I think? It was a true and honest emotional moment."

Rap star Nelly told the Las Vegas Sun yesterday that he may collaborate with Janet Jackson for his upcoming album that he is currently working on:

He said the new record would feature special guests, including his friend and fellow rapper Akon, and a few others.

"I might be working on something with Janet (Jackson) and a few things like that, so we'll see what happens," he said.

This is the first time that either Janet or Nelly have publicly discussed working together again.

Janet previously worked with Nelly on the 2006 track "Call On Me" from the 20 Y.O. album.

According to several sources, the air conditioner wasn't working right at the Bercy in Paris, France, where Britney Spears performed three concerts over the weekend.

Because of that, Brit's wardrobe was revised so she could keep on going through the show without literally passing out because of the intolerable heat.

She stripped off as many clothes as possible (and we aren't complaining of course) to help her feel more comfortable.

Other reports claim that about seventy-five audience members passed out during the first of three concerts because of the heat.

Millions of people around the world watched coverage of Michael Jackson's memorial service on the Web, although the event appeared to fall well short of online viewership records.

Global Web traffic was at least 19 percent above normal, and as high as 33 percent above normal, during most of the star-studded memorial at the Staples Center, coming in only second to the site's all-time viewership record (President Barack Obama brought in 27 million video streams the day of his inauguration.)

Of course we have to factor in that many other networks and websites had their own live streams and broadcastings as well.

For CNN, the numbers are still very impressive, as the site peaked at 781,000 concurrent live video streams during the memorial broadcast and the website garnered 81 million page views.
