Over the last six or seven months since Lanta Diver started this year's high season in October 2008, much has happened. Except for the unfortunate events in Bangkok recently, Koh Lanta has been completely undisturbed and still is, as it always has been, one of Thailand's most precious kept secrets. Now for the first time since Lanta Diver opened 10 years ago, the dive center will remain open all year running day trips and courses!

Recent Diving News!

For the past 2 weeks on every trip to Hin Muang & Hin Daeng, we have seen several manta rays and whale sharks. On some of the dives we even saw manta and the whale sharks swiming side by side. The diving at the moment since the begiining of May has been just tremendous! The diving is great, the visibility is awesome and we're having loads of fun. Come and join us!

Koh Ha is a local dive that we arrange for 3 days per week but this trip is very special because we have a lucky person who just finished Open Water Course and decide to make fun dive with us. On 28th March 09, our 1st dive we went to 20 meters then up to around 15 - 16 meters. When we try to find special marine life on , my buddy tapping us to turn to the right side. Suddenly, the great marine life of this trip shown up. We scream with happiness even though we have regulator in our mouth.

Lately ( in the last week) we have seen whale sharks on Bida Nok and Bida Nai, black tip reef sharks in schools on Phi Phi Ley & beautiful visibility on Koh Ha with Mantas at Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. The wreck of the king cruiser is as usual teeming with large schools of fish. To the left is a picture of our fleet of 5 boats.

As the shotline was laid and the first check was made the visibilty was 35 metres and the water was blue blue blue. Most divers made 3 dives all on nitrox and some with tec rigs DIR style as this is becoming a more than popular way to dive to see everything under 30metres. We have all of the equipment for sale and rent and tec courses from DSAT and TDI as well as the only dive centre to offer 50%, 80%, 100%, and helium mixes for the serious divers. Now well equipped on the boat for emergency situations you can dive deep and safe with us. Check out the video now!!

At the start of febuary when are Tec buddies came back to the Island we headed out into the blue with a our black book of marks to see what was down there. We were distracted for 40 minutes when we were overwhelmed by Pilot Whales for as far as the eyes could see. Again everybody suited up and swam with the whales which is the first time for most onboard M.V.Evolution. When we finally made it to the marks we descended on a fishing trawler approx 40 metres long with amazing fish life and some massive grouper to boot!!

The next wreck trip is planned for the end of Febuary and we believe it to be over 100 metres in length and approx. 50metres deep. This again will be another virgin wreck with lots to find and no doubt some great fish life and great visability. The diving conditions are pretty amazing on the Anadaman coast right now with very calm seas, little wind, good visibility, lots of reports of Mantas and Whale sharks, and best of all, very few divers.

Thanks to the Airport problems last year, Thailand has it's lowest level of tourist visitors in years. Bad news? Not if you like empty beaches, uncrowded dive sites and very low rates for hotel rooms. The Thai government are also talking about FREE visas and half price flights with Thai Airways. Grab a deal while they last!

However more fine tuning will have to be done as so far the machine has not been able to predict the weather more than 1 hour in advance.
There are already rumors of a newer and more advanced model is being researched. This new model will have the ability to predict weather 1-2 days in advance.
