Prince or Princess Charming is not ransacking the neighborhood knocking on doors, trying to find the perfect match for that magical glass slipper. If you want to see some action, you are going to have to step out of your comfort zone and get in the game of life so BE BOLD! Treat your personal life more like you would handle a business. Ask yourself if this person is a good “investment” of your time and energy; if not, cut bait and move on to the next prospect. Pure “carnal desire” is delicious but will not maintain its intensity in the long run; friendship paired with attraction will. Remember, “ A kiss is just a kiss,” but really liking and respecting a potential mate and wanting to jump their bones at the same time, not that’s something. When considering a long-term “investment” look at the entire package and associated baggage. Blending works better when you have common values and interests. But don’t forget the person’s family and friends. If they make you want to run for the hills, RUN. Trust your instincts, but remember everyone’s family is a little nuts!

The biggest turn-on is a confident person; any scent of desperation is like repellent. If your self-esteem is in the gutter, start doing the work you need to improve your mind, body and spirit; untl then, put your best game face on and walk the walk. Stop obsessing about finding “the perfect person” and chill out. Get involved in things that you enjoy such as cooking, hiking, ceramics and wine tasting. Chances are you will have a great time and meet new friends who share similar interests. People always say they find their mate when they weren’t looking, so focus on your life and what makes you happy. Remember that happy is very hot.

Safety first! Always keep the first date short and sweet; for instance, meet for coffee or a drink in a crowded area. If the person is not your type and gives you the “heebie-jeebies,” your torture is minimized to thirty minutes or less. If the date goes well, you can arrange dinner plans for the follow up and then spend more time getting to know each other. Always let somebody know where you are going and when you will be back so they can check that you made it home safely. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SAFE SEX, only safer sex, and a condom is not enough.

KEEP YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it, back in the dating pool after all these years. For many of us it feels like we have been living in our marital cave for sooo long it can be pretty intimidating to get back out there. A lot has changed and there are a few things you should know before you dive back in.
Safety 1st:
Always watch your drinks in a bar. The date rape drug can very easily be slipped into your drink when you are not looking. The danger is real so keep your eyes open and don’t accept any drinks from strangers.
On first dates meet up in a place where there is a crowd and let someone know where you will be and the time you are expected to get back home. This is important, especially if you are living alone.
The threat of sexually transmitted diseases is real and more common than you think. Always use protection and remember your judgment may be off after you have had a couple of drinks.
A Good Use of Your Time:
Most of us have a pretty hectic life and trying to carve out time to meet new people can be challenging. If you are going to make the effort some screening and honesty is necessary so you don’t waste your time. Finding out each others package deal is important; you can get to know about a person through email and phone conversations on a basic level. For instance: do they have children, how is their relationship with their ex, how long have they been divorced, what type of work do they do, interests, what gets them annoyed, what do they love to do. These questions are good for initial screening but keep in mind people don’t always tell the truth and it does take time to really know someone.
However, if a big part of your life involves your children and the potential date is lukewarm on the whole kid thing, why even bother. There are better possibilities out there. On the same note, be honest with what you are looking for and what you are not. If you scare the person off its better for it to happen sooner than later, it’s exhausting to pt your time and energy into something that was never going anywhere in the first place.
Keep in mind not everyone is ready for a relationship, especially if they are new to the dating world and have recently divorced. Watch out for the rebound factor but remember, it’s ok to date for the sake of dating. Not everyone is meant to be the one, it’s all a learning experience.
KEEP YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE AND HUMOR
Dating is a process. You want to weed out the people you know won’t work, but part of the fun is finding out if someone will. Even if its not long term, people can enrich our lives even if they are with us for a short time. Think of it as a game, you are working on your people skills and learning a lot about who you are now that you are flying solo. Even if it’s not a love match, a romantic date may turn out to be a great contact or friend. You never know who you are going to meet so be positive and have fun with it.
