Logan had an absolute wonderful first day of school today. He did great and loves his teacher. He came home telling me a little rhyme he learned to help remember the way that the letter i sounds. They are learning all about the vowel sounds this week. He also sang me a song that he learned. His teacher did say that during coloring time, as they were told to draw a picture of their families, that he got very upset because he could not fit all his family on the page and that he needed a bigger sheet of paper cause he had a big family. I thought it was kinda cute! He’s very sensitive like that. Below there is a scrapbook of his first day.

There has not been much time for blogging lately. Since Donny returned from Honduras, we have been very busy packing up and working on repairs, and other odds and ends around the the house. We are loading up the moving truck on Saturday and will be closing on this house on Monday. Everything is coming together great, and as of now all the details on both homes, our current house and the new house and both closings are on track. We close on the new house on Tuesday. In the midst of all the paperwork, packing and preparations to move, the kids have been sick. Samantha and Madison have sinus infections and ear infections with an upset tummy. Hudson and Candice have sinus infections and an upset tummy. Hopefully these antibiotics they are on will do the trick so they will be ready and able to start school after we transfer. More on our new zip code later.

Those numbers all belong to this big guy… Logan Chase! It’s hard at times to remember that this boy was ever a baby. We finally got around to getting him in to so the doctor for his four year well visit. He did superb! He loved almost every minute of it. Up until the very end when he got three shots. Ouch! He flyed though the ear and eye tests with flying colors. Everything looked great. Only concern was his blood pressure was very high. They checked it a few times. And he was not nervous or moving, he was very cooperative and enjoying it, so this we will just have to watch. The doctor said because he only has one kidney is why it is a concern. Who knows, maybe it is a side effect of his sezuire medicine. Anyway…he did great and is all set for school now. Yeppie! Go Logan!

After touring some schools yesterday, I have found a nearby Christian school for Logan to attend Pre-K. He will have the opportunity to enjoy singing praise and worship songs, dancing, Bible study and prayer. He will participate in special classes that include gymnastics, reading, art, music, and Spanish. They have a strong focus on reading and writing. With Logan’s eagerness to learn and how quickly he catches on to things I’m certain he will do very well in this environment and he will love it!

I have spoken with the new and old school districts and special education administrators and we are getting an ARD meeting scheduled the day after we close on the new house, so we can get the Quads transferred and started up in the PPCD program.

When the kids first learned that daddy was going to Honduras, they could not help but think we were talking about something that had to do with Dora. I know, that’s not how you spell it nor how you pronounce it. But to a three year old who does not know any better, why not imagine daddy is going to see Dora. I think its cute.

Usually when Donny is out of town, we get to communicate through email at some point each day. But, this week…It is different. We have to go the whole week without talking to each other. He’s usually encouraging me in some way, telling me I’m a great mom, and anything to help me get through the time he is away. So I definitely miss that! I miss him! Tons is going on though, which I’m actually very thankful for, cause it keeps my mind busy and makes the days go by faster.

Today I got several things set up and decided upon for the repairs on our current house, and one major thing was completed today. Tomorrow we are having the inspection of our new house. In addition, I’m going to tour two or three schools to find a Pre-K program for Logan.

Update: Just after I posted this blog, I got a call from Honduras. No way…my baby called me. Had no clue it was him calling. He got ahold of a phone for a moment and was able to check on me and say hello. What a wonderful surprise!! :) Hehe! He is doing well and sounds like they are having a great mission trip. I will sleep good tonight!

I just got off the phone with our realtor. Our offer has been accepted and we are set to close on the new house on August 26th. Whooohoooo!!!! I wish Donny was here so I could give him a big kiss. Here is a picture of what will soon be the Dixon’s new home.

I got word that the missions team arrived safetly to Honduras last night. Definitely assuring to know that my baby (yes, I know…he’s pretty big for a baby) is safe. We are already missing Daddy very much. Logan keeps asking when Daddy is coming home. It’s very sweet but sad at the same time. He was very upset when we dropped daddy off at the church Saturday. When I was telling Donny goodbye Logan somehow thought I was going to leave too and was really scared and upset. Poor thing.

Yesterday the quads had runny noses and I wondered if they were getting sick. Sure enough this morning they all had nasty noses, coughing, and two of the quads have been fighting some pretty bad diarrhea all day. Yuck! No fun! Luckily I got bought some over the counter meds at the store for the kids since I knew Donny was going to gone all week. I’ve been giving them medicine all day and its helping to dry up there noses and reduce the coughing to a minimal. Don’t know if the meds are helping with the diarrhea or just making it worse. Gotta love all the wonderful side effects to medicines, right?! Start with one thing, end up with another. If only there was a cure all medicine. I guess if there was, there would be a multi-billionaire out there.

I just got the kids all down for bed. Logan did not want me to leave his room. He wanted me to sleep with him. He said that he was lonely. I cuddled with him for a little bit and then left him to go to sleep. A few minutes later I heard Hudson crying. I went upstairs and Logan had gotten into Hudson’s bed and was laying with him. Hud was upset cause he wanted Logan to be in his own bed. I asked Logan why he got in Hud’s bed, and he said he was lonely. I think he is really missing his daddy.                                                                                                                                         

I don’t have any news on the “new house” yet. I spoke with our realtor earlier this evening and found out that the owners of the house are out of town so we are still waiting on a response on our offer. Their agent is planning on hearing from them later tonight. So…we will see.

Like giving birth to QUADRUPLETS one day shy of a year after of first babies birth. And that does not even begin to tell of the crazy things that have happened to the Dixon family. Don’t get me started on that! But just as things seem to be going one way…the tables are quickly turned.

Nine months ago Donny and I felt led by God to move closer to our family. Of course this would involve a lot of work, more patients then I could even imagine and a very long journey to get to where we are today. We put our house on the market in January and have been enduring the insane process of trying to sale your house while raising five kids four and under.

What we did not know is that, the same people to terminate are only contract, would be the same people who would later come back and want to buy our house. When the termination happened, Donny and I decided to live out our contract with the realtor agency and keep our home on the market for the 15 days that were remaining and we just gave it over to God. We decided if God wanted us to move he would bring someone in this time, otherwise we would just move on and live here. I began planning our life here. Planning for school here in McKinney and rewriting my calendar and such. With no need for packing up or rushing to get the house repairs done I excitedly agreed for Donny to go on a mission trip to Honduras that he was asked to go on a few days ago, when a spot became available. What a wonderful opportunity for him to serve in that way with a bunch of other awesome Christian friends. Actually, I think I must have always known deep down that he would be going. Cause I’ve been thinking about it for a while. And when it all off a sudden came up, I did not respond in my usual manner. (I’m not a fan of spontaneity, and I think things to be planned in enough time to prepare myself for them). This just shows me that God has lots of great things in store while Donny is in Honduras. Don’t know what or how…but I do know he is suppose to be there.

Last night we took the kids and went to Walmart to get the supplies Donny needed to take on his trip. Before getting out of the car, we got a phone call from our McKinney realtor. We were shocked to find out the buyers were back and wanted to work out another contract and buy our home. They realized bad people are everywhere and they can’t get away from it. Long story short, this morning before we had to drop Donny off for his trip we signed a new contract on our current home. There’s no option period and they’ve waived the HOA period as well. We close on the 25th. This brings me to our new house…Thankfully, the house we had contracted with before was still available and they were willing to work with us. I met with our Irving realtor this evening and we wrote up the contract on that house. I have not heard anything back yet…so hopefully I will have more good news later. Looks like there will be plenty to do while Donny is away… I better get some rest now while I can.

After coming to an agreement on our “new house” Monday night, we went to sleep excited and celebrating. We woke up Tuesday morning to find out that the contract on our current house had been terminated. We were in shock. Turns out they learned that there is a registered child sex offender that lives down the street. (Joy!) Nothing could be done to save the contract. No amount of money or convincing could change their mind. The buyers Realtor told them that she could not sale them this house in good conscience. (So does that make us bad parents for living here with our five children? Please! There are bad people everywhere. We live in a cruel world. You can’t live your life in fear.) Anyway, I did not just share this to get peoples rude comments. Although I’m sure people will still choose to share some anyway. (We were not aware of the sex offender living here. We now know exactly which house he lives in and who he is and some details of what he was charged with and the time he served in jail). We certainly did not expect this to happen. (Oh, did I mention I started packing Monday and withdrew Logan from his pre-k program so we could get our deposit back). Talk about an emotional day. In turn we were forced to terminate the contract we had on our “new house.” Big bummer! Very sad. We only thought we were moving to the Valley. Sorry fam…back to Oklahoma. We have 14 days left on our contract with our Realtors so we have decided to live out the contract, continue to show the house, and have pushed our Realtors to check all avenues to get our house sold. But, if no more offers come in by the end of this contract we will take our house of the market. School is starting soon, and we need to give the kids some stability and routine that everyone can count on. Thank you for all that have been praying for us.
