It can be thought that this is because the fibers used to make these first carpets have been decomposed for a long time. The Pazyryk Rug & Early History

The most important of these early discoveries is the 9.3 x 6.5 feet Pazyryk rug with a picture of horse riding on it. It is believed to be one of the oldest oriental rugs in existence. It was discovered during excavations in the Altai Cemetery. The history of oriental carpets can be traced back to the glacier region of the Siberian wasteland when a group of Russian archaeologists discovered a unique treasure in 1949.

It was located in the frozen tomb of the leader of the Scythian, who died about 300 years BC. An invaluable example of rug art was buried: a beautifully preserved handmade woolen carpet. The so-called Pazyryk rug symbolizes a craft that has become an art form and tradition, the actual age of which is still unknown. No matter which bug is in your home, there are a few things you can do to help control the spread of these bugs before calling in a professional to exterminate them.

1. Sanitize

It’s important to sanitize your surfaces and belongings and get rid of any dust and clutter. If your concern is carpet beetles, you’ll want to carefully inspect your clothing to look for beetles, and subsequently store your garments in tight, plastic containers. The prices of the carpet on the contrary are much cheaper. You can get carpet starting from $1 per square foot for cheaper materials like polyester and olefin, the prices range up to $20 per square foot if you are choosing a high and carpeting product. So based on your budget you will spend much less compared to finishing with hardwood floors.

While the cost of the initial installation is very different, it may pay off in the long term because hardwood floors are much more durable compared to carpets. Well, this is a tricky question because both floor surfaces have a lot of advantages and disadvantages of having kids and pets at home. Let’s see all of them in detail.

The main advantage of having a carpet is that this floor surface is comfortable and soft for your pets to lie on. It is also safe for their legs when they jump off the couch or run across the room. Types of Carpet Pile

Low Pile Carpet

• Low Pile carpets have a height of under 1/4 inch.

These carpets have dense fabric loops and short fibers. The short fibers of low-pile carpets are usually dense and flat, making the surface of the carpet smoother. Plush

The plush carpet is a cut pile carpet style where each of the pile strands is cut to exactly the same length. Such carpets have a rough, hairy appearance. The fibers of a velvety Saxony carpet are straight and lie in the same direction, so when you move the pile, the color of the carpet will naturally change from light to dark (and vice versa). Textured Saxony rugs rotate in different directions, reflecting light at different angles, creating a two-tone appearance.

Due to the depth and softness of the pile, Saxony carpets and rugs are most suitable for areas of your home where you want to add a sense of luxury, such as the bedroom. If you are considering a Saxony short-pile carpet but want to place it in a high-traffic area, then twist fibers carpet may be the best choice.

Frieze

How Do Carpet Moths Look Like?

Carpet moths are able to lay even 300 eggs at once and are so tiny that you will hardly see them. Although the crawling larvae are a bit more obvious, they are small larvae wrapped in silk and crawl their way down your carpet when they bite. The moth is beige or brown in color and has a small wingspan of 14-18 mm. It is advisable to get rid of any moths that are inside, or at least catch them and let them out if you wish. At the very least, they don’t lay eggs that turn into tiny worms that can ruin your carpet.

The adult carpet moth has a very distinctive appearance with a dark gray-brown stripe on the upper body that extends to the middle of the forewings. The rest of the body and the hind wings are very light gray-beige. The larvae are more difficult to spot because they can change color depending on what they eat. By absorbing the dye, they will often be the same color as your carpet. It is the larvae that eat the carpets, not the adult moths.

Here are some obvious signs of a carpet moth infestation: 

• Carpet fibers that have come loose for no apparent reason. This happens because the larvae have eaten the nodes. 
• You may see tiny caterpillars crawling under the carpet. 
• You may notice tiny cocoons that blend into the wool of your rug. They are often flat, oval in shape with pointed ends. 
• Moths fly across space.
• The real flying adults. If you have many flying adults, the infestation can be significant. Loose fibers from the carpet lie on the pile. This is because the larvae eat the knots on the underside of the carpet. Cocoons – 1/8 inch in diameter x ½ inch long. The cocoons are usually of the same color as the pile on the carpet.
• The larvae hide their cocoons to match the color of the wool around them. The actual larvae wind along the surface of the hair and below it. the carpet.

An adult carpet moth is about 5 mm long, with yellowish-brown forewings and three darker spots on each wing. The hind wings are light gray and lined. The case-bearing carpet moth has a white color. Life Cycle of Moths in Carpets

The life span of adult female moths is not long, and during the life span, a female can lay hundreds of eggs. They become moth larvae and start to eat. They eat until they have enough energy to develop. This usually takes 2 months; however, when food is insufficient or the temperature is low, they can survive 2 years before leaving the cocoons.

The larvae will stay in the cocoon for 1 to 2 months before the adult appears. Contrary to what people say that adult moths do not eat, male moths spend time looking for females to mate, while females look for favorable conditions for laying eggs. Clothing (carpet) larva that will damage the clothing when they are constantly looking for food.

The life cycle of moths in the carpet:

Adult Stage of the Clothes Moth

The common carpet moth, also known as webbing clothes moth, or Tineola bisselliella, is really small in adult size, only 5 to 8 mm long. At this point in the life cycle, the moth’s job is to eat and receive enough nutrients to make its cocoon shell, and to begin with, these tiny worms can feed from three weeks to several months. When you’re done, twist a complete cobweb cover and close it. In fact, early in the larval stage, they begin to make their cocoon and pull it out with them. 

The eggs hatch and hatch into larvae that look like small cream-colored worms with a dark head. Newly created larvae are about 1 mm long but grow up to 12 mm. This is the most dangerous phase for the carpets because the larvae like chewing and they feed on natural materials that contain the protein keratin, such as wool, fur, cashmere, silk, feathers, and even leather.

Carpet Moth Eggs

In summer the eggs hatch between 4 and 10 days and it takes up to 3 days. Weeks until they hatch in winter. 

They are unlikely to feed on synthetic fibers, but it is possible when they are contaminated with food stains, skin cells, and human secretions like sweat. The larvae form silky threads that look like cobwebs. They eat, grow, shed, and repeat.

Adult Moths

Adult moth: The adult moth is a very small fly that is golden in color. You can still see the rings under the wings; However, the top rings now have six legs that have smaller attachments for gripping. The fly also has two long antennae.
