I used my new Kreg power tools for this project, which I am loving! They’re lightweight and easy to use but great quality too.

For this plant stand I used my 4 1/2″ circular saw, drill, Kreg Jig 520 PRO, and my random orbit sander.

I added 12″ marble tiles (found on Amazon) because I love the contrast with the wood, plus it makes for easy cleanup with plants and water drips, etc. I used a Provincial stain but you could customize the finish however you choose.

It’s been a while since I’ve built some new furniture so I was overdue! I’m sharing this DIY entryway table I built for my home.

First, I used my 4 1/2 inch circular saw to cut my wood.

I used my Kreg Jig 520PRO and my new Kreg drill to drill pocket holes. This jig is still my favorite because of how portable and user-friendly it is.

I used my random orbit sander to sand everything smooth.

I added prefabricated legs that I got from Amazon. I painted the table Behr Marquee in Mountain Olive to match my record player table.

As for the template, I created this one in Photoshop using AI, but I didn’t trace the tail all the way to the bottom because I realized it would be too flimsy and could break off easily, so keep that in mind.

I used my new Kreg Jig Saw for this project, as well as their random orbit sander, compact drill, and Kreg Jig 520PRO.

I had a lot of fun embellishing it after I painted it too. This is the part where you can add a personal touch and hot glue whatever fun things you want! I also added flat gold bead for eyes.

Today’s project was a bit of an experiment. I was trying out a new tool (the Kreg Jig Micro) and wanted to experiment with thinner wood, while also keeping this project budget-friendly. I decided to make a DIY plywood jewelry box.

If you want a higher quality jewelry box you could definitely use higher end lumber but I really wanted to experiment with thinner plywood.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• 2 sheets of 1/2″ thick plywood
• Kreg Jig Micro
• 3/4″ Pocket Hole Screws
• Jewelry Box Hardware (hinges and latches)
• Mirror (optional)
• Drill
• Sander
• Saw
• Wood Filler
• Edge Banding
• Brad Nailer
• 1″ Brad Nails
• Paint or Stain
• Jewelry Box Inserts
• 1/2″ Satin Ribbon

Cut List:

• (2) pieces of plywood cut to 8 3/8″ long x 5″ wide (top and bottom)
• (2) cut to 9 3/8″ long x 3 1/2″ wide (front and back of bottom)
• (2) cut to 5″ long x 3 1/2″ wide (sides of bottom)
• (2) cut to 5″ long x 2″ wide (sides of top)
• (2) cut to 9 3/8″ long x 2″ wide (front and back of top)

Tutorial:

Step 1:

Cut your wood to the specified dimensions above. I used a miter saw for this but a circular saw is fine too.

Step 2: Drill Pocket Holes

Use the Kreg Jig Micro (great for thinner wood) to drill 2 pocket holes along each side of your top and bottom pieces. (8 3/8″ x 5″ pieces.)

Step 3: Sand

Sand everything smooth.

Step 4: Assemble Boxes

Build your boxes by attaching the side pieces to the top and bottom pieces using 3/4″ pocket hole screws. If your side pieces aren’t snug enough, you can reinforce those with 1″ brad nails. I didn’t attach the sides to each other with pocket hole screws because the space would’ve been too narrow to fit a drill.

Step 5: Add Edge Banding

I ironed on edge banding to hide the exposed edges of the plywood. You just iron it on which activates the glue and then you can use a utility knife to trim the excess and sand the edges smooth after. It’s also paintable and stainable.

Step 6: Patch and Paint (or Stain)

I used wood filler to patch over any tear-out (my saw blade must not have been sharp enough because I did have some) as well as exposed pocket holes, and sanded it smooth. Then I primed it and painted it green. Since I was using plywood and not high quality wood, I opted to paint instead of stain. Unfortunately I no longer have the name of this paint since the label is messed up but it’s Behr Marquee.

Step 7: Add Hardware

After my final coat of paint had dried, I attached the hinges and latch. I found this jewelry box hardware on Amazon.

Step 8: Add Mirror

This step is totally optional but I added a small mirror I found on Amazon, even though it didn’t fit the dimensions perfectly. I hot glued it on but I recommend using construction adhesive if you want a more permanent adhesion.

Step 9: Add Inserts

The final step is to add your jewelry box inserts. I found these on Amazon and customized the size of the jewelry box to fit them. I hot glued a loop of ribbon to the bottom of the top tray to make it easier to remove.

I can’t believe in all my years of blogging I’ve never built a DIY spice rack, but that has finally changed. Today I’m teaming up with Kreg to share one!

I made a simple spice rack that’s easy for beginner woodworkers and accommodates 15 spice jars. (You could modify the size to accommodate more or fewer depending on your needs.)

I ordered the jars from Amazon and they came with labels that go on the lids.

You could also add hardware to the back if you’d prefer to have it mounted on the wall.

I finished it with a Special Walnut stain.

The holidays have really snuck up on us, as usual! Can’t believe 2024 is almost over. Today I’m excited to share my most recent build — a DIY wooden Christmas tree collar.

This is an easy, straightforward build and can be customized to whatever color you choose. You could even stencil a design on it if you want to personalize it more.

I used my Kreg Jig 520PRO for this project. It’s my favorite pocket hole jig because it’s lightweight and portable.

I added 2″ door hinges and a 2 1/2″ hook and eye to create a “door” on the back, which allowed me to open it and slide it into place around my tree really easily. Then I just latched it closed.

I can’t believe how quickly this year is coming to a close. Here we are in December already! Today I’m sharing how to make these DIY wooden stocking holders.

This was a fun little project and you could easily customize them by using any embellishments you choose. I picked up the glitter snowflakes from the craft store, but the options are endless.

I used my Kreg Jig 520PRO for this project. As you know by now, it’s my favorite pocket hole jig because it’s lightweight, portable, and user-friendly.

I used a 1×6 board for this and assembled it with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws.

I used a hot glue gun for the snowflake but you could use a brad nailer instead if you want a stronger, more permanent hold.

After staining and adding the snowflake, I added a little key hook to the front using a small screw.
