The Bingo Players took a snippet from that memorable chorus/hook and made this House groove.</p> <p>Alot of people rag this because DJ Dstar and Brandon Bside dropped a track with the same vocal lines <strong><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVbDanfz2cg" target="_blank">first</a></strong>, but I like the construction of this one better. There's great buildup here and they milk the vocals just enough to where they stick and let you relish the bit of nostalgia.</p> <p>I think it's a great song if you knew the source material or not. I've finally taken the big boy step into working with and trying to "master" Serato's Scratch, as it looks to be the standard everywhere I go.<br />For the past six (going on seven) months I've been a resident pool-side, DJ at a very influential resort here in Nassau and it's pretty awesome for a steady gig. Oddly enough though? I took to it like a moth to light, I actually love the tangibility of the decks and getting to physically manipulate the tracks as I spin em. Before I made the Serato jump I just used jumpdrives with the CDJ-900s, some complications pushed it where I had to use Virtual DJ and a single CDJ though and, while it was a breeze, I realized later how complicated that setup was... :/</p> <p>Making the Serato jump was a bit scary for me as I really dont have much off-work avenues to flex that muscle and get real practice in. I had tried it out before and ran into some complications with the connectivity of Hardware and Software. Some reading helped though and I was able to pinpoint what I was doing wrong with the connections.</p> <p>As of now I'm crash-coursing with the fundementals of scratching and manipulations  to keep a stead groove for whatever venue I'm in. </p> <p>From the last we spoke, Mic Check 1-242 has been on a hiatus and looks to be combing with the sister effort, Listen (which has moved from The Hilton to Da Balcony (the forst photo is me in Da Balcony's booth). My right-now goal is to get polished enough to have whatever crowd Listen gets stay for an impromtu party, post-show and actually not fizzle and kill the vibe midway through. It's pretty intimidating. Every life-goal is though, in some respect.</p> <p>If you check out the <a href="http://music.wodensway.com/pages/official-mixtapes" target="_blank">mixtape</a> page you'd see that I've been keeping up with those. A few of them spawned ideas-in-the-making with some other DJs that will collaborate on some future projects. I may be making an appearance in Freeport soon t do a show with <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/DJ-SayMyName/136319469715764" target="_blank">DJ SayMyName</a>, hopefully it goes well.</p> <p>The goal to getting my own equipment so I can hone my skills is still steady. Interest has piqued with the release of <a href="http://numarkns6.com" target="_blank">Numark's NS6</a> coming up in June. Alot of 'seasoned' DJs swear by Pioneer's batch of products and since I use them professionally already I can vouch as well... I'm not totally convinced though. There was an initial interest in the NS7 and V7s because of the motorized platter and me wanting to pay homage to actual turntablism. They havent released anything since the epic double album, Staduim Arcadium in 2006.</p> <p>Alot has happened since then too... guitarist, John Frusciante has left the band (again) in 2009 and is focusing on his solo career. If this move will be indefinate is beyond me, John is one of the greatest guitarists in the world and, I feel, he did alot in refining and making the signature Pepper sound.</p> <p>But yeah, I'm excited to see what the band will churn out this fall. It's a great album if you ever happen to come across it.<br />One of the songs that I really like is called, I'll Take Care Of You. The words are so sincere and genuine, makes you feel like you have someone in your corner if you ever have a day when it doesnt seem to be the case.
