Who's candis aka sheishiphop?

Candis aka SheIsHipHop is a mom, a hip hop artist, a college graduate, a writer, a supporter, a motivator.

Who inspired you to MCing, and why?

I was inspired by 90s hip hop during a time where there were more women active on the hip hop scene. When we had Lil Kim, Foxy, Brown, Missy Elliott, Da Brat and others all doing their thing at the same time.

Being a female rapper is harder than being a male rapper?

Of course it is. We have so much more to prove. Women are always placed under a microscope, especially by other women. We are held to a much higher standard than our male counterparts.

What advice would you give aspiring rappers on the come up?

Be you. Don’t try to be like anyone else or make a song similar to what’s hot right now because you feel that’s what’s going to sell. Just make a hot song. Period. Also, if you’re going to rap, be serious. Commit to your music career and go hard or go home. It’s your grind that’s going to separate you from everyone else.

What can we expect from you in 2013?

Expect to see my face and hear my voice a lot more. Expect a revamped website. Expect to see me even more on the business side of things. Expect an album!

Do you think the HIP-HOP scene changed in the last 5 years, and is it a good or bad change?

Other than the success of Nicki Minaj leading to the rebirth of the female MC, it hasn’t changed much in my opinion.

I recently partnered w/ the " Break the Cycle not the love movement" my homegirl in the USA is doing. If you could break any cycle in the world what would it be (Ex. Hate, Racism, Child Abuse) ??

That’s awesome! If I could break a cycle, it would be hate. That would solve a lot of the other issues like racism and violence.

Chief Keef Arrested In Atlanta

Chief Keef was arrested in Atlanta yesterday (May 20) for smoking kush in his hotel room. We're going to assume this wasn't a way for the rapper to make his recent alignment with Gucci Mane's Brick Squad all the more official.

Reports TMZ:

Chief Keef -- the 17-year-old rap sensation -- was arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia yesterday for disorderly conduct ... TMZ has learned.

The details surrounding the arrest are unclear.

According to the booking sheet, Keef -- real name Keith Cozart -- was listed at 5'9" and 160 lbs.

After the arrest, Keef tweeted, "Jus Got Out Of Dekalb County jail In Atlanta Mad As f**k."

Keef is considered a prodigy -- and has rapped with huge stars like 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa.

Keef is no stranger to the law ... he's been arrested at least two times before -- and even has a gun conviction under his belt.

It's been a rough year for the rapper ... We broke the story, he was recently sued for child support by his middle-school-aged baby mama who claimed Keef fathered her kid -- born in 2011 -- when he was only 15.

Actually it hasn't been all that bad a year for the rapper. Besides connecting with Big Guwop, Sosa was recently living it up in Paris while he was in town to record with Kanye West. There is also the rumor that he is engaged to a model named Pretty Mesha. He may want to dial back on all that lean before he sees the judge, though.

Rihanna's Dad Is Still On Team Breezy! "They'll Be Back Together" (DETAILS)

Rihanna might be over her long on-and-off relationship with Chris Brown, but her dad apparently isn't ready to give up on it just yet.

The 25-year-old Bajan beauty is trying her best to move on from the Breezy chapter of her life, but her dad Ronald Fenty would rather she just get back together with Chris.

According to The Sun, Ronald isn't too happy with the breakup:

“I’m still his No1 fan — I still like Chris regardless.

“They have a very passionate relationship but if they split up it does not mean it’s for ever with them. In a couple of months they’ll be back together.”

He even revealed how Rihanna is really feeling, now that she's not with Chris anymore:

“She seemed to be doing OK. We talked about how the tour was going, I asked her if she partied and she needed rest and she said: ‘I’m going to be okay, Dad.’

“Whatever road my daughter chooses, I’m behind her win or lose. My main thing is that she’s happy.”

“She likes to enjoy herself, who doesn’t?

“I think she needs to take a little rest, a break. I think she might be working too hard. It’s taken a little toll on her and she needs to ease up.”

Despite what her father wants, RiRi doesn't have any plans of reuniting with Chris in the near future.

Both singers have been doing their own thing for the last couple of weeks; Chris is gearing up to release a new album, while Rihanna has been finishing up her Diamonds World Tour.

We wonder if father really knows best.

Nicki Minaj isn't bashful about her assets, so it was no surprise that she flaunted them a bit at last night's Billboard Music Awards. Taking home the trophy for Top Rap Artist was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening for the former American Idol host, but from a fan's standpoint, it was the brow raising performance of her hit song "High School" with Lil Wayne.

Everything was pretty standard initially. The YMCMB Barbie spit her verse, while her back-up dancers strutted across the stage. Weezy came to do his portion, too. Then the chair came, and viewers knew what would follow.

Seconds later, Wayne was seated and anxious for Minaj to lay it on him. And that she did, with her caboose facing the crowd at that. The gyrating was brief, but onlookers definitely have that moment for life.

If it weren't for the technically perfect legdrop Miguel accidentally gave a woman in the crowd, the "Starships" rapper's lap dance could have been the crowning moment of the evening's festivities.

Hot 97's Morning Show broke the news when their Program Director, Ebro emailed Hova himself to congratulate him on the news and the Open Letter rapper replied:

"It's not true, the news is worse than blogs."

There you have it straight from the horse's... email.

Last weekend E! News got confirmation from "multiple sources" that Beyonce was indeed pregnant, but there should be no greater source than Mrs. Carter's husband, Shawn Carter, right?

Kim Kardashian was spotted making a trip out of JFK airport along with her mother Kris Jenner, and she decided to finally ditch the heels for a more comfortable pair of flats!

The 32-year-old reality starlet tried to keep a low profile as she came through the terminal with her momager, wearing her cute black ballet flats on her swollen pregnancy feet.

While walking through the airport, Kris was all smiles as Kimmy was on the phone looking as though she was getting into a verbal argument with someone on the other line.

It looks like this leg of the pregnancy is really getting a little more difficult for the reality TV star, but she's pushing through.

Meanwhile, someone from Kim K's past reportedly couldn't care less about her new found motherhood... Reggie Bush.

According to RadarOnline, the NFL star was asked if he would congratulate his ex once she becomes a new mother, and his answer was just "No".

He is now a new dad himself, is busy worrying about his own family. He says:

“I haven’t been worried about anything else or on anything in the past. Just the present and the future,

“I’ve just been focusing on my little girl and my family. That’s it really. I’ve been enjoying my life and this opportunity. All my focus has been on that.”

Well we guess that's understandable. The mother-to-be sure has a lot on her plate already so we're sure she doesn't mind leaving the past in past.

Miguel took the stage tonight at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards to perform his chart-topping hit "Adorn." All was going well, until the animated Miguel tried to take his stage presence to another level by jumping from the main stage to a smaller stage over a group of not so lucky fans.

In a freak accident, Miguel under-estimated the distance of his jump and practically leg dropped an innocent fan in the process. Yikes!

Zimbabwe Man Wakes Up During His Funeral

A man in Zimbabwe was believed to be deceased, when he abruptly woke up, effectively freaking out everyone in the room. Brighton Dama Zanthe was thought to have succumbed to a long bout with illness when he "returned from the dead," last week.

While others tripped over one another trying to get away from the resurrection, Zanthe's boss faced it head on walking up to the coffin to inspect the medical marvel, and calling an ambulance (which came in seven minutes--the medical workers were also surprised to see a dead man alive and well). Once at the hospital, the 34-year-old said he had no recollection of all that had transpired. "This issue can be best told by people who came to my house to attend my funeral. I don't know what happened and I only remember being on a life support system in the hospital,” he said. "Everything is history to me. What I can only confirm is that people gathered at my house to mourn but I was given another chance and I am alive. I feel okay now."

As far his family and friends knew, Zanthe passed away a week prior. He started moving his hands and legs as funeral attendees walked by his casket, which came right on time because he was headed for burial. "At first I could not believe my eyes but later realized that there was indeed some movements on the body as other mourners retreated in disbelief," said his employer, Lot Gaka. The Gettingson Bus Company owner was the first to notice Zanthe's movements. "Zanthe had been on sick leave for some time and everyone at work was aware that he was critical," Gaka continued. "We would visit him at his home. I was not surprised when I received a call from Zanthe's wife saying that her husband had died."

Zanthe's story isn't unique. A South African man woke up in morgue freezer after he was declared dead.

Illinois Legalizes Medical Mary Jane

Illinois lawmakers agreed to legalize the use of medical Mary Jane on Friday under a plan that’s being billed as the strictest in the nation among states that have authorized the drug’s medicinal use, though it was unclear whether the Democratic governor plans to sign it.

The plan authorizes a pilot program for physicians to prescribe Mary Jane only to patients with whom they have an existing relationship. Background checks are required, and patients must have at least one of more than three dozen terminal illnesses or other debilitating medical conditions specifically listed in the bill.

Gov. Pat Quinn has declined to say whether he supports the legislation, saying only that he was “open-minded” on the issue. Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon, a former prosecutor, has said she is in favor of the plan after meeting with patients, including military veterans.

The proposed legislation creates a framework for a four-year pilot program that includes requiring patients and caregivers to undergo background checks.

It sets a 2.5 ounce limit per patient per purchase and calls for 60 dispensaries regulated by the state where patients could buy the drug.

“We are embarking here on a way to achieve relief, compassionate relief, consistent with the law (with) a system which avoids abuse,” said the bill’s sponsor, Democratic Sen. Bill Haine of Alton.

“It’s the tightest, most controlled legislative initiative in the United State related to medical kush.”

An ex-basketball player for the NBA has been seriously injured after being stabbed during an altercation in Serbia.

Predrag Danilovic, a basketball lover who once played for the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks got injured by a knife during a brawl that took place in a cafe in Belgrade.

According to the Associated Press, doctors are currently doing work on his arms, abdomen, and head area for injuries.

There are no new details on why the brawl took place, but hopefully authorities will thoroughly investigate.

Danilovic is currently the general manager of Serbian basketball club Partizan Belgrade.

Blue Ivy is going to be a big sister. After rampant rumors, it looks like Beyoncé and Jay-Z are expecting a second child.

Multiple sources confirm to E! News that Beyoncé is pregnant with baby #2. However, no official announcement has been made by the couple.

There were whispers of the 31-year-old singer’s pregnancy when she walked the red carpet at the Met Gala wearing a custom-made Givenchy gown that covered her stomach and hid her silhouette.

The speculation only increased after she was forced to cancel her concert in Antwerp, Belgium. Doctors ordered her to get some rest “as a result of dehydration and exhaustion.”

But she returned to the stage the next day, apologizing to her fans. “I’ve never postponed a show in my life,” she said in a handwritten note. “It was very hard for me.”

Bey recently expressed her desire to expand her family. “I would like more children. I think my daughter needs some company. I definitely love being big sister,” she told ABC News.

Beyoncé is set to launch the U.S. leg of “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” in L.A. on June 28. It’s unknown how the pregnancy will affect her touring plans.
