<p>Finally, after a couple of teases by <strong>Ninja Tune</strong>, I can show this beauty off, something that&#8217;s been in the pipeline for a while now. Today is <strong>Bonobo</strong>&#8216;s big gig at the <strong>Roundhouse</strong>, a full day of music curated by<strong> Simon Green</strong> and rounded off with a performance by him and his band. With the likes of <strong>Gilles Peterson, Machine Drum, The Invisible, Adam Buxton&#8217;s Bug</strong>, a <strong>Boiler Room-</strong>hosted space and <strong>Solid Steel</strong> broadcasting snippets of the event on the web, it should be epic. To make it even more epic 500 lucky golden ticket winners will each receive one of these 12&#8243; zoetrope picture discs of his already classic track, <strong><em>&#8216;Cirrus&#8217;</em></strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bonobo-Cirrus-12-side-A-web.jpg" rel="lightbox[21893]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21896" title="Bonobo - Cirrus 12&quot; side A web" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bonobo-Cirrus-12-side-A-web-636x636.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="636" /></a>I took the original archive loops from <a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/bonobo-cirrus-video-by-cyriak" target="_blank"><strong>Cyriak</strong>&#8216;s incredible video</a> for the track and broke them down into circular visuals to make a spinning animated version. Dating back to the first primitive animation techniques of our time, the zoetrope relies on a viewer to see the action happen. This is included with the disc along with assembly instructions so that people can watch while the disc plays. See the above film for an approximation of what the disc does when spinning.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/zoetrope-viewer-instructions.jpg" rel="lightbox[21893]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21897" title="zoetrope viewer (instructions)" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/zoetrope-viewer-instructions-636x258.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="258" /></a>This is all rounded off by a beautiful <a href="http://leifpodhajsky.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Leif Podhajsky</strong></a> design on the reverse side. Lovely.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bonobo-Cirrus-12-B-web.jpg" rel="lightbox[21893]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21898" title="Bonobo - Cirrus 12&quot; B web" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bonobo-Cirrus-12-B-web-636x636.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="636" /></a></p>

The <strong>Image Duplicator</strong> show opened last night at the<strong> Orbital Gallery</strong> and was a great success with artists and punters out in force. The standard of work was excellent and centre stage was <strong>Dave Gibbons</strong> with his take on <strong>Lichtenstein</strong>&#8216;s <strong><em>&#8216;Whaam!&#8217;</em></strong>, retitled<strong><em> &#8216;Whaat!?&#8217;</em></strong> He graciously signed and chatted to all and was a thoroughly top bloke. Rian Hughes and <strong>Jason Atomic</strong> did a fine job organising everything, as did <strong>Mark Blamire</strong> in getting all the prints made and packaged up for people to buy. <a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Strictly.jpg" rel="lightbox[21856]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21865" title="Strictly" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Strictly-636x852.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="852" /></a><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-right-wall.jpg" rel="lightbox[21856]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21866" title="ID right wall" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-right-wall-636x474.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="474" /></a><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-Left-wall.jpg" rel="lightbox[21856]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21862" title="ID Left wall" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-Left-wall-636x474.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="474" /></a><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-Michelle-car.jpg" rel="lightbox[21856]"><img class="alignleft size-large wp-image-21863" title="ID Michelle car" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ID-Michelle-car-636x474.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="474" /></a>Prints of selected items are available to buy online <a href="http://print-process.com/" target="_blank"><strong>here</strong></a>.</p>
<p>Special mentions for<strong> Garry Leach </strong>who turned up with a newly finish <strong>Popeye</strong> piece called<strong> <em>&#8216;Plop Art&#8217;</em>, </strong>complete with toilet roll, and <strong>Michelle Amir</strong>&#8216;s Barbie car hosting a couple apeing<strong><em> &#8216;In The Car&#8217;.</em></strong> Massive thanks to<strong> Karl </strong>and everyone at<strong> Orbital Comics </strong>as well for hosting it at their gallery and providing hospitality. I was so pleased to be a part of it and even managed to sell my piece too! Second comic-related result of the week. The show is on at the<strong> <strong>Orbital Gallery</strong> </strong>inside <strong><a href="http://www.orbitalcomics.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Orbital Comics</strong></a>, </strong>8 Great Newport Street, London, WC2H 7JA until May 31st after which it moves to the <strong><strong>A&amp;D </strong></strong>gallery in Chiltern St.</p>

Reading the latest <a href="http://www.2000adonline.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Judge Dredd Megazine</strong></a> (issue 336, out today) with my kids the other day and I open it to find my name splattered on the wall of <strong>Mega City 1</strong>! Not only am I now immortalised as a minor gang<em> (</em><em>now </em><em>sadly defunct)</em> in the tangled history of the Meg but a certain <strong>Matt Black </strong><em>(Coldcut)</em> and <strong>PC</strong> <em>(DJ Food)</em> get a mention as street names in the left hand panel too.</p>
<p>The story is a spin off in the world of Dredd for disgraced ex-Chief Judge <strong>Dan Francisco</strong> who has been demoted back to street duty after the events that led to the recent <strong>Day of Chaos</strong> story. Francisco &#8211; a Judge who had the rare distinction of being a prime time TV star whose popularity led to him being elected Chief Judge &#8211; is investigating multiple murders of <strong>The Kev Gang</strong> in this scene. It&#8217;s a humorous aside but a chance for the writer, <strong>Arthur Wyatt</strong>, to use my name as the basis for the gang&#8217;s rules of entry. Artist <strong>Paul Marshall</strong> drew the strip and it&#8217;s featured in the monthly Megazine which is out today.</p>

The new single from <strong>The Simonsound</strong> in a special 25 copy <strong><em>&#8216;Pilot Pack&#8217;</em></strong> with 10&#8243; colour vinyl, two sided colour map, sew on <em>&#8216;The Simonsound Transit Authority&#8217; </em>Pilot patch, 1 of a kind 1/4 inch tape loop, mini booklet, Monorail ticket, all housed in a beautiful letter press printed sleeve? Better be quick &#8211; <a href="http://thesimonsound.bandcamp.com/album/the-beam-b-w-in-the-shadow-of-the-skylon" target="_blank">pre-orders happening <strong>NOW</strong></a>.</p>
<p>If they&#8217;re sold out or your budget doesn&#8217;t stretch to business class you can still catch the monorail in a more regular and affordable standard class version. <a href="thesimonsound.bandcamp.com/album/the-beam-b-w-in-the-shadow-of-the-skylon" target="_blank">10&#8243; colour* vinyl of <strong><em>&#8216;The Beam&#8217;</em></strong></a>, comes with two sided colour map. (*Colour to be confirmed.) Also, if you&#8217;ve not tried the debut LP from the group (<strong>Simon James</strong> and <strong>DJ Format</strong>) then you could do a lot worse than grab <a href="http://thesimonsound.bandcamp.com/merch" target="_blank"><strong><em>&#8216;Reverse Engineering&#8217;</em></strong></a> while you&#8217;re there.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Monorail.jpg" rel="lightbox[21827]"><img class="size-large wp-image-21829 alignleft" title="Monorail" src="http://www.djfood.org/djfood/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Monorail-636x639.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="639" /></a></p>
