This week we welcome one of the most promising rising acts in the world - Curtis B (Drop the World)!!!!

Curtis B is known internationally as a high octane performer and assiduous producer. Hijacking a huge variety of genres and fusing them into one well worked set has set him apart from other DJ’s, as well as his music production earning him many spots within Beatport’s Top 100 Breaks, Dubstep, Glitch Hop & Electro House charts.

His tracks have been dropped by some of the biggest names in the EDM community. Artists such as Diplo, Wolfgang Gartner, Evol Intent, Dieselboy, Plump DJ’s, Reid Speed, & DJ Icey have championed Curtis B’s unique sounds, and moving forward, we can only expect more success and accolades from one of the most hard-working and dedicated cats in the game.

Curtis B’s sets not only bend genres and smash stereotypes, but he also is one of the most entertaining performers touring today. High energy is an understatement, you can see that nobody has more fun and enjoys his craft more than the man himself.

In a time where most dj’s are stuck with their heads in laptops, a Curtis B set is a refreshing change from the norm. You never know what he might do, constantly cutting , scratching and getting down behind the decks, his energy is contagious.

An event that the entire midwest marks on its calendar every spring – the Psychotronic Party Series – is set for Saturday, April 28th this year. Blindfire Entertainment , a major part of the St. Louis EDM scene, hosts its premeir event – Psychotronic 6 - at the Old Rock House, in St. Louis MO, a change that promises a more intimate, personal vibe.

The Psychotronic Series, along with other the St. Louis “must-attend” events (think Panoptic’s “Winter Warpdrive, “4sho’s FML” series, etc. )- is a prime example of the community that exists between different “crews” and “cliques” of the EDM scene in St. Louis, and the midwest. These are must-attend events not only for the general admission crowd, but for the other promotion crews, dj’s(even those not booked!!) , production crews, and other Vip types.

2012′s installment – Psychotronic 6 – has been creating buzz since the lineup was announced some 45+ days ago. Electro Giants Designer Drugs (Ultra Recrods) lead a lineup that covers nearly every beat-heads preference.

The big names don’t end there – with Dubstep headliner Subvert (Canada, Shambhala Music Festival) set to deliver his signature, face shattering bass music……. a VERY highly anticipated tag set from Breakbeat and Bass Music Innovator Curtis B (Drop the World) and Rel1 (FSOB)to go along with appearances from Sir Kutz (Red Cube/FSOB)…. Moogonaughts (CHFM, Spoiled Rotten Records) , Jimmie Page (UMF Ultra Radio) and Huges Live (Tomfoolery, Unter Lieben) with plenty of local support.

To say the lineup is packed, is an understatement.

The beauty of Psychotronic is that the music is only half the fun. Be ready for a full-on experience, with mind-bending visual and light presentation, the best in sound , and the return of Psychotronic’s favorite go-go – Miss Cricket. Beyond that, Psychotronic is about coming together , no matter what your favorite genre of dance music may be, to celebrate the love we all have for the music and each other.

There’s a reason they say it’s a “dont-miss” event! See you there!

This week on the Sunday Slackin’ Podcast, we welcome St. Louis breakbeat specialist Vic Damone , with an exclusive mix of fresh cuts filled with in-your-face-bass.

Hailing from St. Louis, MO, VicDamone first experienced the St. Louis EDM scene in early 2000 and hasn’t turned back since. Picking up his first set of breaks vinyl in 2004 he began his journey to control dance-floors wherever he could…..starting in living-rooms and basements, then on to local bars like Mercury and Urban Lounge, on to being a part of St. Louis’ signature events. With influential artists like Curtis B, Supernaut, Eric Barretta, Simply Jeff and many, many more guiding his breakbeat arsenal, and now starting to explore the world of DnB in its many forms, let it be known that VicDamone is here to unleash a barrage of nasty beats to keep dance-floors packed and rockin.

Be sure to check out more sounds from Vic Damone – part of the Xero Tribe family – on his SOUNDCLOUD PAGE HERE - and also check out Wet Hot Electric Summer 2 – a much anticipated event that takes place at Lake of the Ozarks.

Chris Mindel (Elektrolyte) checks in with an exclusive mix of fresh originals, favorites and new jams this week on the Sunday Slackin’ Podcast.

Since we last heard from Chris, he has spent the last year working hard in the studio, producing a string of well received original tunes that blur the line between house, techno and progressive. Look for Elektrolyte touring this festival season with his crew, the Disco Aliens, as they continue their mission to abduct and assimilate the masses to the sounds of enlightenment.

As the Slackin’ podcast heads into it’s second year, we hear again from the Disco Aliens own Tyrohn Brooks, aka Obitykenobi, as he delivers a very special birthday edition exclusive mix for the Sunday Slackin’ Podcast.

Since we last heard from Ty, things have been busy for him! Working on a variety of projects – studio work solo or with John Napier as the Dark Matter Projects with renowned Spectral Artist and good friend Jumbie Art -to working as an A&R rep for Transplant Music Group (Transplant Recordings/Spoiled Rotten Records) – Ty has consistently been one of the hardest working DJ/producers that I know. With 2012 moving right along, big things are in store for Ty and the rest of the Disco Aliens and crew as festival and touring season approaches.

Ty is one of those people who’s love of dance music can been seen and felt anytime you hear him play, speak to him, or listen to his original tunes. Never one to sit still, keep an eye out for more upcoming releases, new tune previews, and more on his FACEBOOK PAGE – The Disco Alien’s Facebook, Or Obitykenobi’s Soundcloud Page.

Wow.

It’s been a long journey to find myself…..and through music, I can share all the emotions and energies I have experienced along the way. During my journey through house music….. and life, the love and ideals of our community -now close friends and like family – has always been a source of pride and inspiration for me, and eventually has become a way of life.

February 13th, the day before St.Valentine’s Day – Unkle Funk makes his debut on Caboose Records…..The Lovelies EP feat. One Little Fishie is a release that celebrates the many faces and depths of love, and the emotions that come with it. It will be the 10th Release on Caboose, following several strong releases from Tim Rella, Pete Le Freq, and Crussen.

This year, the midwest’s most anticipated event gets even bigger. For 7 years now, Panoptic have been pushing the limits of what a indoor, dead-of-winter event can and should be. WWD is not your run of the mill midwest party. Events and productions like these take a full year to plan and execute – and without a doubt – the term “what you give is what you get” applies here.

Stage presentation, decorations, lighting, live art, vending, ice sculptures….the list can go on. WWD is an experience, and I can’t wait to see what can happen with such an open and large space like the Family Arena. Private Suites, a handful of live artist and a group mural, body painting and a spectral art dome by Jumbie Art are just a few of the things I am personally excited about for this year and the new experience that is waiting, only a few weeks away!

I have had the pleasure of knowing two of the main cogs of Panoptic – Miss J and Shawn Harvick for a while now, and their commitment to this event, as well as the overall love and advancement of the EDM community in general has really impressed me, and it’s always refreshing to meet and become close to like-minded souls. It’s people like Julia and Shawn that really make our community possible, and it’s no wonder that Winter Warpdrive has become a annual celebration for the midwest and beyond.

All that – and we haven’t even TALKED about the lineup! WWD has a history of bringing some of the most sought-after selectors and live artists , and this year is right in line! Performances from BT – CA, USA , EOTO – CA, CO, USA , Marco V – Netherlands, VibesquaD – CO, USA, Andy B (Spacecamp) and Luke Hansen vs. Cypher in a redux of last years well received tag set. Check out the Winter Warpdrive VII Facebook Page HERE!
