The Disneyland Paris version of this classic Worlds Fair attraction is completely different and unique from all the others. Housed within one complete, continuous space, it employs a more modern pastel design style and of course, includes extensive scenes for Europe and a brand new North America scene.

We climb aboard at Fantasyland Station in the British quarter of the land, a gleaming, one-of-a-kind Disneyland Railroad station reminiscent of the Victorian railway boom. From here, we steam past the glorious blossom trees, passing by Storybook Land and “it’s a small world” along the way. From Discoveryland, it’s an uphill climb past the booming Columbiad cannon of Space Mountain to Main Street, the quintessential turn-of-the-century American town.

From the beautiful, elevated Main Street Station, the engine takes us right through the Grand Canyon Diorama — a stunning tableux of scenes from the great American West set to Ferdé Grofe’s “On the Trail” from the Grand Canyon Suite. Then, with a smack of the whip and the soundtrack of the Magificent Seven, we emerge into the real thing — Frontierland, with its rivers and peaks, expanding out in one of Disney’s most awe-inspiring vistas ever.

Frontierland Depot is the place to take on water, and secure the train — from the rural pastures here, we enter Adventureland, the world’s most mysterious region! Explorers and pirates await… before we arrive back at Fantasyland Station, grand circle tour complete!

Based on the 1937 Silly Symphonies cartoon of the same name, the mill still houses a small food vending kiosk selling wraps and other snacks.

When the park opened in 1992, these passageways were originally part of the larger Adventureland Bazaar (much of which later became Agrabah Café). With the added capacity programme of 1993, however, they were converted into an attraction in their own right, using the designs of the Disney film released just the year before.

No longer included are the Costuming building and Pearl Harbor sets, and the tour now follows the same route for its entire length between the two loop-backs at Catastrophe Canyon and Reign of Fire. The items from the former Props Boneyard have mostly disappeared, with some of the space along the new route filled by the vehicles and planes from the old Pearl Harbor scene.

The tour now has even longer lulls between scenes and is frequently criticised by fans and guests alike.

This is one fantastical legend that isn’t looking for a happily ever after. A huge, monstrous Audio-Animatronic like none you’ve ever seen before, masterfully hidden under the pleasant green hill to the left of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant.

The dragon Maleficent is entirely unique to Disneyland Paris and was, at the park’s opening, the largest Audio Animatronic ever made.

Also includes a short excerpt from the brass band at St Pancras who play “When You Wish Upon a Star”, timed perfectly to end just as you hear “bing bong… the Eurostar to Disneyland is now ready for boarding!” …And the magic begins!

It’s 8.53am, the sun is shining, the music is already ringing in your eyes. What a fabulous Disney day lies ahead! Take a front seat and follow the road to Disneyland, as if you’re there. Bienvenue à Disneyland Paris!

They all dance along to a musical medley of favourites from the film, including “Let’s go Fly a Kite”, “Step in Time” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, plus “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” from saccarine turn-of-the-century musical “Hello Dolly”, as heard in Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E.

Based on the boats seen in Walt Disney’s film Davy Crockett and the River Pirates, the Coyote and Raccoon give guided tours of the Rivers of the Far West at a speedy pace. They might have been overtaken in style and comfort by the mighty stern-wheel riverboats, but these keelboats can take you right up close to the fascinating landscape and roaming wildlife of the islands.

They’ve become the transport of choice for the roguish river pirates, who hide their hauls in Smugglers’ Cove, just next to the keelboats’ landing stage!
