Anyway, my sleep schedule is tossed to the wind due to my latest employment. I work overnights, started this week, and so being awake now is just easier. That said, I do miss being up during the day and being able to spend my evenings with my family. No, I still hate mornings and the idea of getting up early makes me a little nauseous, but I do miss those evenings. One can only catch up on so many episodes of a favorite show or wandering across virtual space… So, here we are.

I have no idea what I mean for my blog to be. My original blog was a place I could dish out my brain, complain, make observations, and just generally post whatever happened to mind. Since then I have been hard-pressed to replicate this anywhere, and believe me, I’ve tried all the blogging platforms. This one is my favorite, I think. I’m not sure why.

One day I hope to post things of interest. Something others may enjoy reading or just find worth a few minutes of their time, whatever it may be. On one hand, I know I will never be the writer/author I want to be, but on the other just putting one word in front of the other means I am a writer of some sort. Blogger? Oh, no… I’m not nearly political or smart enough.

Maybe I’ll just use this as a brain dump too. It might be interesting to see what comes out… Don’t you think?

“North Carolina, you should be ashamed of yourselves… Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you people? Straight people have been destroying the “sanctity of marriage” far longer than we as a society have given a shit about it. So tired of intolerant, ignorant people trying to justify their own HATRED by buzzwords, excuses, and bullshit.

And Jesus would not support you, your position, or your beliefs. You’re thinking of Hitler, asshole…”

And a day or so later, after the torrent of idiocy surrounding President Obama voicing his support of Same Sex Marriage I posted this:

“The President comes out in support of Same Sex Marriage. On one hand, I’m happy to see our President finally vocalize support for this issue rather than tap dancing around like every other fucking politician. So, I can see giving a tip of the hat and smiling.

BUT on the other hand, DUH… Big fucking duh. And why do I say this? BECAUSE EVERYONE SHOULD SUPPORT THIS FUCKING ISSUE! It’s a HUMAN issue, you idiots, not just a Gay Rights issue. If you, as a consenting adult, fall in love with another consenting adult and as consenting adults decide to spend the rest of your lives committed to one another, then NO GOVERNMENT, state or otherwise, should have the power to stand in the way… If they do, then that’s discrimination and a violation of our human rights, you know the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness stuff in that wordy document our founding fathers wrote that everyone tries to wave around to support whatever bullshit currently in the news.

And notice I worded that a certain way to avoid those morons who start talking about people marrying animals or violating children. Also, those people should seriously be barred from having any say in anything, period.

Back on point, no government should enact policy, or want to enact policy, to divide the people for NO OTHER REASON than HATE and their own IGNORANCE and INTOLERANCE.

Do not attempt to quote religious doctrine to me. To do so only proves you do not fully grasp the message of your own faith. And if your religion states emphatically that it is a-okay to hate and discriminate another group of people simply because they happen to be LGBT, then I denounce your hokey, hateful religion and the bullshit it spouts. When you start following ALL of IT to the letter of its own law, written ages ago when we thought we’d fall off the side into oblivion, I’ll give you a pat on the back; until then, stop picking and choosing. It makes you look like a dumbass.

So, kudos to the President, my President, for standing up for something that’s basic and should already be accepted by our “evolved and civilized” country… But the fact he HAS to makes me a little sick and gives me another reason to give all our populace a stern look.

We are all people. We all deserve to stand by the side of the person we love, whatever their sex, race, religion, or IQ… Wake the fuck up, people.”

In the comments section of this post, a good friend of mine mentioned how he never understood why straight people got so up in arms about this issue, but that he was starting to “get it.” Since I wanted to further clarify my passion on the subject, I replied:

“For me, it’s about doing what’s right and what’s sensible…

We live in America, where we are supposed to be about freedom and rights and apple pie and all that jazz. So, why would we deny a subsection of people the basic rights to be themselves, be happy, and marry the person they love for NO GOOD REASON… It defies logic and REEKS of hatred, intolerance, and some people’s inability to deal with their own hidden feelings toward others of the same sex.

This is not a religious issue. I don’t see any laws being proposed to deny non-christians their rights? There is a reason for the separation of church and state. I do not want my government leaders being guided by however they interpret their religious doctrines. This leads to insanity in power, chaos, and massive injustice. Plus, these religious texts can be taken any number of ways depending on perspective… Or taken out of context entirely. Too much wiggle room there, and our founding fathers realized this fact.

This is also not about redefining marriage or damaging the sanctity of it. How can you further damage an institution already destroyed by countless 10 minute marriage/divorces, cheating spouses, marriages of convenience, and all the other bullshit done in the name of slapping two people together in the eyes of the established law? And, given all the crap done in to and in the name of marriage, how can two committed people wanting to spend the rest of their lives together DAMAGE IT? Isn’t that type of commitment and love what the damn “institution” needs?

We as a government need to stop dividing people and start being inclusive and accepting of all of our peoples. If not, then we spit upon the very ideals of our country…

This is about hate and intolerance, not politics. But, like many times before, the political process is used to protect and foster hatred and intolerance. We as a people and country should be ashamed of ourselves…”

Again, this isn’t simply a Gay Rights issue for me; it’s a Human Rights issue for me. It’s about doing what is right and treating people correctly. It’s about not giving in to the ignorance, intolerance, and hatred of others. It’s about love.

The man, the myth, the legend - El Santo

EL SANTO
…Or “The Saint” for those of us unfortunate to speak the native language of this brilliant, chiseled specimen of manhood.

Most know the exploits of this bastion of honor and kickassery, so a detailed account is not what you’ll find here – I am not his biographer (that guy actually gets paid). Instead, the journal I keep here will be my attempt at keeping a record of my travels and adventures with, perhaps, the greatest man the human race has ever produced.

He is El Santo. Wrestler. Explorer. Crime Fighter. Monster Hunter. Poet. Lover. He is the iconic figure emblazoned upon the minds of every man, woman, and child. Men want to be him; women want to be with him; and children want his autograph. He is El Santo…and he is my friend.

When we first met, I was just a mere boy pissing away my existence one day at a time. I thought the sun revolved around me; I thought I knew it all. Then, on a jaunt down to the local McDonald’s while passing through Tallahassee, Florida on some foolish errand, I came across a thundering behemoth of awesomeness in a silver mask. His name was El Santo, and he was in the midst of laying the smackdown on a group of at least thirty mangy-looking homeless people.

Or so I thought. Turns out it was a nest of VAMPIRES, and our beloved hero had traveled there to destroy them at the behest of the Governor. Seems he didn’t want this particular nasty coven growing or spreading any further across his great state (or mixing with the other vamps tolerated by the government). Of course, all of this information I discovered much later, after Santo filled me in…and after I came to after getting knocked out and nearly eaten.

Killing a vampire is a nasty business regardless your strength, size, or level of awesomeness. They’re a hearty breed, and those of an evil bent are a real pain in the ass to kill. That said, certain members of humanity have a natural inclination for dealing with and destroying rogue members of the supernatural community. That night, long ago in the parking lot of that Floridian Mcdonald’s, I found out I had the stuff.

I never meant to get involved. Really I didn’t even want to land a punch. Still, when faced with an icon like El Santo stomping mudholes in this group like a giant stumbling through a rainforest, I found my inner machismo propelled to new heights. Before I knew it, I launched myself into the fray armed only with a spork and my building rage. This was The Calling, Santo told me later…and the rest is history.

Since then me and Santo have traveled up and down the many roads of this world, and others, tracking down evildoer and monster alike. We’ve dedicated ourselves to upholding Right and Honor. We’ve promised to help those in need, whatever their situation, and wipe out the darkness whenever it slithers into our path.

Some struggle all their lives to ascend to greatness, and some have it cast upon them whether they deserve the mantle or not. And then there’s those few who could give a rat’s ass about semantics and just wanna send evil’s sorry backside screaming back into the underworld.

This is where we come in…and this is our tale.

When next I speak, it’ll be on our unorthodox partner and his linking with our duo to form…THE HOLY TRINITY OF KICKASS. Yeah, Santo wasn’t too keen on the name either, but this new guy had his heart set on it…
