This Video is about Jorge Guerra, his friends call him, "Noala", thus people call him "Noala Guerra". This roughly translates to "No To War"( notice the APA formating :)). He is an artist who focuses on music, composing, as well as playing a wide range of instruments. He has a passion for exercise, with mountain biking being his favorite.

In this video he is riding from Mexicalli to Cancun (approximately 3,417 miles), while plying music along the way.

Essentially he gives off good vibes and loves life.

An interactive installation by Yayoi Kusama that is currently on exhibit at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, which they call “The Obliteration Room”. It began with blank white home interior as a blank canvas for children visiting the museum to cover with colorful dots. Check out more photos below.

Or maybe he's got a beard like Daft Punk and glasses like Jesus...Speaking of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo actually helped produce Sebastian's 2008 album "Sexuality". Whatever it is, Sebastian Tellier is a musical genius and its no wonder one why so many other talented artists remix his work. Sebastian Tellier has the right kind of weirdness and funkiness that has made me remember his music for years. I've posted some of my favorite remixes and tracks from him. I have a been a fan of Feather Cycles ever since I first saw them on the web. This a a cool video that showcases the artisan skills of Ricky Feather, the founder and builder of Feather Cycles. Ricky takes pride in his work which is something that I feel people from our generation are lacking (I am speaking in generalities). My father and grandfather were prime examples of people with this kind of work ethic. My father went from being born in the middle of no where Mexico, to having his construction work being featured in Magazines as well as some Hollywood movies. My advice is whatever field you chose to work in try to be the best you can be.

Incredible Wood Sculptures of Henrique Oliveira

A whole new meaning to tree house. Brazilian-born painter and sculptor Henrique Oliviera might be extra terrestrial with his fantasy like wood sculptures. Everything about these sculptures scream genius and creativity. I mean even his name is cool. There is really no other way to explain the genesis of his inspiration for these wood-inspired installations of fantastical, twisting trees that do more than just disrupt an art gallery’s foundation.

Henrique Oliveira, I want to hire you to make my future childrens tree house.

I think my favorite part is where the tree comes smashing through the wall.

I'd be extremely taken back if someone were to have this in their living room. I'd have two counteracting thoughts. "Wow these guys are cool" and "Wow these guys must do a lot of drugs".

I love the use of colors used to bring vibrance to his wood pieces.

Countless hours of hard work was put into this. The final product is almost surreal.

Nikon D800

Nikon has officially revealed its latest full frame powerhouse, the Nikon D800 DSLR. Having already shown off their flagship Nikon D4 in January, Nikon’s release of the D800 has been widely anticipated by photographers and videographers alike. The excitement about this camera is easy to understand– never before has so much photo and film-making power been available in a camera for under $3,000. Nikon’s tag line explains it well: “Every photo will astound. Every video will dazzle.” We’ll explore why below.

The new Nikon D800 features a new full-format 36.6MP sensor, the largest amongst common DSLRs available today. It features an unprecedented level of clarity for still images and video even in low light scenarios. The standard ISO range for the D800 starts at 100 to 6400, but can extend from 50 to a high 25,600 ISO equivalent. In the D800, Nikon has also revealed a new scene recognition system that uses a 91K-pixel RGB sensor. This will track subjects, recognize and analyze faces, study highlights and identify the light source within your frame. Join this with the same 51-point autofocus system that Nikon showed off in the D4, and you have one of the smartest cameras in tech history.

I was planning on the Nikon D4, but I think this baby does everything we want it to do & more for about $3,000 dollars less!

Jenna Makgill takes on the Homer Tunnel

For those of you that do not know, the Homer Tunnel is located in the South Island of New Zealand. It is a beautiful country and this looks like there are a lot of really fun rides.

Jenna Makgill is no new comer to the world of fixed gear riding. She rides with the Chain Gang Girls as well as being a bike Courier. She is one tough cookie. Every morning Makgill gets up and does her courier rounds for a few hours. Then she goes off the study product design in the afternoon. So what have you done today?

She loves what she does and that passion led Jenna to two women's World Courier Championships in 2008 and 2011.

Edward is an incredibly talented photographer with such determination and drive to see that his creative visions get executed well. The gallery will feature 4 other selected photographers, Joseph, Meghan, Alexandra, and Andy so make sure you come out and see these wonderful local young artists. Not only will you enjoy looking at beautiful pieces, but the whole event will be donating to a local charity.

The Bassjackers landed in Santa Barbara last weekend flying all the way in from Europe to drop their massive sound on the dancefloor. DJ Mackle, Digital Product, Easy Love Records, and Dave Tannin got the night started off right. Check out the action below.

The dopest thing about the Bassjackers is not only their incredible sound & live performances, but they are cool people too. Marlon was down to earth, excited, and passionate about his music. Congratulations to the Bassjackers for breaking it into the EDM world this past year & here's to their continued success!

2012 Belgium Light Festival

Fireworks are standard fair to be used for celebrations around the world, but in Belgium they are turning the page to something a little more modern. This LED-light cathedral was decorated from head to toe in a detailed array of LED's. See more below.

Constructed of wood, covered with 55,000 LED lights and reaching 28 meters (92 ft.) into the sky above Belfortstraat, the Romanesque cathedral-like Luminaire De Cagna used only 20 kWh of energy.

More than half-a-million people were drawn to the Luminaire De Cagna LED-light display at the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium. Luminaire De Cagna became the main attraction of the Festival that included more than 30 other displays and exhibitions.

Luminaire De Cagna is an Italian family business that has created light displays since 1930. They started with oil and carbine lights, moved on to electric and, since 2006, have used LED-lights exclusively. - Tuija Seipell

From The Bosses Desk "So You Want To Be A DJ?"

Today I want to touch on an aspect I deal with on a consistent basis, hiring DJs. Being apart of the nightlife industry I'm constantly approached by DJs that want me to listen to their mixtape or want to play at one of our events, so I've put together a little insider industry guide that would help out all the aspiring dj's out there that want to get into the nightclub circuit.

"So you want to be a dj, huh?"

I see a lot of DJs get the wrong notion about what their job description actually is. A typical DJ will often see their role as the person who plays music and gets the party started, but in actuality nightclubs are looking for a lot more then that. They are looking for a DJ that will promote the event, bring a guestlist, bring energy to their set, be able to adapt to the crowd, and not have a DJ ego. If you want to get hired consistently you have to do all of the above. Let's break it down.

Promoting The Event

If your DJing an event it's expected that you promote it to all your friends, fanbase, etc. Obvious right? For some reason some DJ's don't think that this is necessary and that they are showing up to an already packed nightclub that is ready to jump for joy when they hit the stage. In reality, the DJ is a big part of promoting the night & most nights are based around which DJ is playing. If your not promoting the event then that's less people that would know where the party is and that turns into less dollars for the nightclub which means you won't be getting hired again. Keep in mind that nightclub management pays close attention to who is promoting and who is not.

Bring A Guestlist

Nightclubs want to see how many people you are literally bringing through the door. The DJ that always comes with a guestlist will always get noticed over the ones that don't. If you are looking for a weekly or monthly residency then you better have a good reason why you should over any other DJ in this town and there's no better reason to hire you than if your bringing business through the door.

Bring Energy To Your Set

What's worse then having your photo on the flyer, being promoted for a week, and everyone shows up to see you play and your just looking at your playlist like a zombie all night long? People came to party, so give them a party! Get people hyped up, jump on the mic, or start a handclap before the beat drops just don't be DJ Zombie up there. You don't have to go Skrillex crazy, but you should be getting the crowd amped. Nightclubs always want to have the best party and if you can deliver that to them then why would they want to hire anyone else?

DJ Ego

Nightclubs want to deal with professionals that are respectful to the staff, venue, and clientele. Just because your the DJ for the night does not mean you are king of the world and you can do whatever you want. Unless your packing stadiums with 100,000 people you should be taking a more humble approach. You definately don't want to end up with "He has a DJ Ego" attached to your name. When you play at a venue for the first time you should take the time to introduce yourself to the staff and thank the management/promoter for having you. Thank you still goes a long way in this world.

Music

Your a DJ. It's expected that you play good music & you know how to do it. Nightclubs are looking for a DJ that can cater to the dancefloor & keep it going. i.e. if you killed the dancefloor with an electro track, but hip hop got everyone dancing, then play more hip hop! Nothing worse then the GM having to tell you to change songs or pull you off completely. Yeah, that happens.

If your an aspiring DJ and want to break into the scene then you should focus on trying to nail these 5 points. I guarantee you will get hired because I will hire you if you do and I'm sure other venues in town would do the same.

Apolis | Standard Issue x American Made Looks

Look at it upside down and what do you see? Cool, trust me I know.

Apolis is a company that was based out of Santa Barbara, CA. I still remember buying my first Apolis sweater from Shea Parton back when I went to Santa Barbara High School. To this day it is still one of my favorite sweaters that I have ever owned, sadly it was stolen in 2006 (insert frownie face).

Apolis is a high end fashion company with an emphasis in utilitarian work. Essentially, they make great clothes while empowering the people that make them by creating opportunities and not giving outright charity. As they put it, "[It is] Advocacy through industry."

The latest collection they dropped was the Apolis- Standard Issue x American Made looks. The look is cool because it is a throwback to Americana. One gets the sense that this is how our grandfathers would have dressed at our age. Its classy yet rugged, simply put, you're a man's man. In my mind, the most impressive part of the latest collection, was the fact that the garments were hand made within a ten mile radius of the Apolis headquarters in Los Angeles, CA.

This look consisted of a number of pieces of Garments. Some of these include:

Washed cotton twill Civilian Chinos.

Travel-friendly Blazers.

Weekend-ready Cargo Shorts.

Durable Chambray Utility Vest, just to name a few.
