Quell is a Dj’s Dj. In his Dj performances we find diversity and versatility. With influences ranging from Derrick May, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills and Andrew Weatherall to reach the strings of Joy Division, Pixies, Sonic Youth or Stereolab, the danceflore becomes his playground where going out to play wearing an imaginary blindfold.

House, Techno, Disco, Pop… Quell’s music is an amalgamation of images, sounds and nostalgia that derive from his perception of a universal club sound. The latest example of the dynamism of the athenian artist based in Berlin is his new mix for GummiHz’s imprint, Claap.

In 1999 he took his first steps into the music scene combining a wide range of styles such as techno, acid and more specifically house music, fruit of his voluminous collection of multiple artists. He built himself a strong reputation as a Dj, and more precisely for his capacity to dig out hot and exclusive tracks from his coffers.

His unique Dj set, using 3 turntable and tracks like Impress Me or Get it has made numerous internatio­nal clubs and Djs admire his incredible talent.

His music delivers a rhythm that will just keep lifting your mind and mood higher and higher as the night wears on.

In second position we find Petros Manganaris, aka Echonomist . This Dj and producer born in Thessaloniki is considered one of the most promising talents of Greece’s club scene. His work spanning many and diverse musical styles, and has attracted interest from major labels such as Dessous, Upon You, Resopal or Apparel Music among others.

Petros has earned the respect and admiration for his work thanks to their intense and energetic staging, as well as his expertise to meander between sounds ranging from deep house to minimal techno. Paying audiences to his feets demanding as the Watergate in Berlin, Sonar off in Barcelona or Amnesia in Milan.

This month will be released the first release of the year and their debut 12” for Back and Forth: Obstacles. Amazing fusion cutting groove, emotion and atmosphere combined brilliantly with the silky voice of Mz Sunday Luv.

As many people in the northern hemisphere are coping with a freezing winter, we bring to you a dose of music to make it more bearable. We start episode 222 with what we are best at -  warm and enveloping music, which will then progress to reach more energetic moments towards the final beats of the show.

Cosmic Cowboys is a project that emerges from the different styles of two Venetian Djs and producers: Ni­cola Sansoni aka Randomatique and Kaled Jabari aka Kaledj. Influenced at first by artists such as Ian Pooley, Chicken Lips y Royksopp. After a season of experimental sounds separately they published in 2008 their first EP “Rent a Starship”, under the prestigious german label Ostwind Records being reviewed also on Deejay Magazine as one of the best records of the year.

From that moment their popularity grows as two of the brightest talents of the European deep-tech house scene. Catching the eye of major labels like Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s Musik Freunde, Gorge’s Katchuli, Time Has Changed or Trenton. In 2011 they decided to create their own label, Back and Forth, bringing together promising young house musicians in a project that without doubt is becoming a reference in the international music scene.

A cosmic sound that travels between deep house and romantic techno that we can enjoy live this month in Padova and Copenhagen.

As they say, carry forward! Episode 221 for DocePulgadas with which we start the cold month of February and welcome Back and Forth to our Focus On series, a label that in just one year of life has grown to equal its largest counterparts.

He boasts countless releases on labels such as Kling Klong, Circle Music, Great Stuff, MBF, Boxer, Noir Music and Four:Twenty, remixes for the likes of James Holden, Robert Armani and Gregor Tresher, and diverse mix compilations and cover stories. Even with gigs for the most renowned events and festivals, including regular tours through South America, Oliver does not seem to settle.

It is time for him to set a highly significant milestone for his career as a musician: The release of his first ever artist album, Gallery, which is set for release in September 2011 on Eyerer’s Kling Klong label and is expected to show the many faces of Oliver Klein.

Episode 220 concludes the month of January and our collaboration with Kling Klong, one of the more representative tech house labels in the scene. Speaking about tech house, this week we have stepped back in time a couple of seasons, to the era when the end of a show was much more club-like than the preceding part. So, we have included more energetic material than usual, while keeping the tempo a bit more than 122 bpm.

Namito is undoubtedly one of the organizers of the Techno scene in Berlin. Since 1992 he has been playing music in the most important clubs of the city. As a resident of the famous clubs E-Werk and Tresor, he takes the public to the limit. His first publications in 1996 earned the interest of European clubs such as Turnmills in London and Brancaleone in Rome.

When he met Martin Eyerer in 2004, Namito continued refining his music. The result was important releases and by Multicolor, Kling Klong and Great Stuff. He also produced remixes for artists like Kosheen, Client and Gusgus. Moreover, Namito produced City of Gods on Great Stuff which made its way into the charts of International DJs, as well as the Beatport Sales Charts.

After releasing his latest single Zizou and other productions to market through Kling Klong, Namito is now focusing on his new album.

Diggler, Martin Eyerer, Alejandro Vivanco and Francisco Allendes.

Marcelo Rosselot has performed in underground clubs in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, England, Holland, Denmark, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. Together with producer Francisco Allendes, they have created the first Chile-based label and distributed from Stuttgart (Germany), both on vinyl and digital format, material under Andes Music & Andes Digital Music.

Martin Eyerer is not a laptop artist, but a true musician. Be it collaborations, solo works, remixes or compilations, all his work appears almost monthly on dance-floor dominating labels, like Kling Klong, Systematic, Audiomatique, Great Stuff, Kickboxer and on big English names like Renaissance or I/O Records. The most unbelievable aspect of this is the variety of styles Martin stands for. There is no segment from Deep house to minimal Techno that Eyerer is not in control of, always keeping his focus on the dance-floor.

This consistent high-quality of output results in rocking world-wide floor-fillers, spun by the most well-known DJs. Beyond that, hits like Make my day (Haunting) by Eyerer & Chopstick feat. Zdar (Cassius) made their way into the A-rotation of English music television. As an important platform for his music Martin Eyerer has founded his own labels: Kling Klong and Session Deluxe.

Having started releasing tracks under his own name at the beginning of 2010, within 12 months he has managed to book some very successful releases and work with some of the best labels in underground house including Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, 2020vision, Off Recordings and Moodmusic.

The move to work under his own name came off the back of a very fruitful career working under his alternative guise – King Roc – for which he released his debut album in 2009 to receive critical acclaim from the international dance music press including album of the month title in DJ Mag and 10/10 by IDJ Mag. He is also well known for his work as Two Armadillos with studio partner and good friend Giles Smith (Secretsundaze).

Week 50 of 2011 marks the time for us to deliver the last edition of DocePulgadas for the year! Although talks of large global crises and issues have been going all around, we would like take this chance to reflect on some great things brought about in 2011.   We also extend wishes for a merry Christmas and the best of all in 2012.

Born in Stuttgart and grew up worshipping The Cure and Depeche Mode through his teenage years, Alexander has come a long way to become a DJ, producer and a project manager & consultant for an internet agency. He also loves cooking regional or Thai food or is yearning for summer to wear his flip flops, – he is addicted to them and must have them on from May to October.

Alexander has been spinning records for over 20 years, playing tracks from fresh house to dark detroit-techno, sounding always deep and often spiced with an eerie vibe. His EP on Mood, Dark Love, was played and supported by Richie Hawtin, Claude Von Stroke, Hot Chip and many more. His current EP Livin in Heslach got massive support from Jimpster, Phonique, and Damian Lazarus to name a few.

We are approaching Christmas and New Year holidays and we need a musical selection that will give us energy and good vibes for the next few weeks. DJ & producer David Krasemann, better known as Dave DK was fascinated by the rising techno movement. Together with a longtime friend, Dave produced his first tracks and was involved in the organization of underground techno and house parties, constantly trying to spread and push new electronic music.  In 1999 he became a resident DJ at Tresor/Globus club in Berlin, and also at the legendary Panorama Bar.

As Dave is an open minded person who resents musical limits, he doesn’t want to be reduced to one style. His sound simply is the result of different styles that have influenced him throughout the years. As the main himself says, he has “a passion for the wide range between house and techno as well as pop music and dancefloor stuff of the early 90′s”.

With this episode we ended the month of November and already began to feel the effects of the coming winter, so there’s no better way to cope to offer our weekly dose of music.

This week we go down from 123bpm to present the new music from artists such as Slam, Marcin Czubala, Piek or the duo Lookleft & Bearight on the best labelss in the international underground scene as Ovum Recordings, Pets Recordings, Audio or Kiara Ellum Records among others.

Born in Finland in 1973, Klas Lindblad has been a music lover since his early days, beginning his journey with pop music and eventually finding electronic music in the early 90’s. He was running one of the first house clubs in Turku, Finland from 1992 to 1996 and was a regular guest at the major parties in the Finnish electronic scene. In 1996 he started Moodmusic, a platform to show the world Sasse’s distinctive sound and top-notch A&R abilities.

Fast forward to 1999 and Sasse leaves Finland for Frankfurt am Main to start a residency at the famous Robert Johnson club. In 2005 he built his beloved BlackHead Studios in Berlin with companions Ewan Pearson and Filippo ‘Naughty’ Moscatello and started working on his first artist album. He released two new albums in subsequent years.

The legendary UK techno duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle has travelled far and wide, touring Australia, the USA , Europe, South America and Japan, while holding residencies at 3 of the UK’s best clubs (Pressure, Return To Mono and Fabric). The last 3 years has been one of their busiest periods ever.

Performing dynamic sets at many of the world’s leading festivals including Monegros, Oxygen, Bestival, 10 Days Pff, Extrema, Glastonbury and T In The Park, they have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb In Tokyo, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Rex in Paris and Berlin’s infamous Watergate and Berghain to name a few.

We’re back! Our episode count is now up to the amusing number 212, yet the quality is as serious as ever. That’s right, in this edition we will be able to enjoy super interesting material from our favorite labels and artists, as always.

What can we say about this couple of producers that hadn’t already been said? Since first appearing on Soma Records in 1998, DJ-production duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul, have occupied a special place in the over-crowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings as well as an innate understanding of music‘s grand heritage and its constant development.

Silicone Soul is the perfect name to describe the way they conceive then sculpt every sonic ingredient from their machines with maximum care and emotion.

We arrived at our episode 211 and this week we offer a selection of the most varied in its last stages more energetic and serious than usual lately.

As most important release of this week we present you ‘Back On Track: Nu Groove’, a compilation of remixes made by Nicholas of classic house tunnes from 1988 to 1992 published by the New Yorker classic label Nu Groove. We also include the newest of artists like Manik, Santos, Bodj or Micha Klang.

Rod Modell aka Deepchord is the mysterious person behind all these sinister tracks full of noise that you heard by the label Echospace. His distinctive sound is also found on colored vinyl under the pseudonym Cv313, a collaboration with his friend Stephen Hitchell. Steve is now his closest companion (they also share the production duo Echospace) since the departure of the Deepchord co-founder, Mike Schommer.

So, make no mistake, Deepchord is now Rod Modell and Rod Modell is Deepchord.

Harvey McKay has been tearing up the scene of recent years with his own unique brand of techno. At the turn of 2010, his Nightwalker single was supported by Richie Hawtin, who opened almost every m-nus show with it for 3 months, making it Hawtin’s no. 1 most played track for the period.

His massive Rich Jones remix on Alan Fitzpatrick’s 8 Sided Dice label has also been firing up the charts.  It was no. 1 in Beatport’s week 20 must hear techno tracks and has been charted by Adam Beyer amongst many others. Harvey also recently remixed Slam’s City Destroyer track on their much hyped Paragraph imprint.

Looking back on the history of DocePulgadas and its five seasons on air, We can say without any doubt that this week we present the deepest and slowest edition of all time.

From Buenos Aires, Argentina, arrive to France this couple of producers to bring us their vision of the electronic music in Time Has Changed. They have already released by the best South-American labels, and now they reach Europe.

2010 saw the introduction of a new artist project. Ross Evana was born with an exciting new sound and 7 years experience of playing dance floors around the globe under his previous guise. His first track on Get Physical ‘Ouija Board’ peaked at number 12 on the Beatport house chart – a punchy techy sound that was a taste of things to come. The next releases on Saved Records, Cocoon Recordings, Break New Soil, Time Has Changed, Alive Recordings and CR2 were supported by the major DJs all over the world and cemented Ross as one of the most exciting producers around.

This electronic music enthusiast comes from italy with a love that has gone step by step in the world of club culture. He started as PR, then had his own radio show, and eventually started with live gigs. 2005 marks the release of his first productions, and in the following year, Pacha included one of his tracks in its CD-Summer collection. He later began working as A&R for labels such as Carica and Presslab and publishing works consistently. By now he has released on labels like Toolroom, Intacto, Baroque, Italobusiness, and the label we are focused on right now: Time Has Changed.

Our Closing season! With the edition 204 we say good bye to this great season for us. We go for holidays, but will back at the ate summer with renewed energies and surprises.

Upon hearing the name Saved records, we tend to think about its creator, Nic Fanciulli. This is the DJ and producer who opted for a Grammy, a rare event to see in the club scene. Nic and his brother Mark spent all their time on his label, which has become a reference for top DJs and everyone else in the industry. In his role as producer, he has worked with the biggest, such as Mark Knight, Steve Mac, Stacey Pullen and Joris Voorn as of lately. Featuring as a DJ on DocePulgadas, Nic Fanciulli certainly deliver an elegant set, loaded with both groove and force.

Almost closing the season! We present our edition 203 in which you can enjoy the new remix of Kiko Martínez on beloved Tapas!.

This week we present the new of Lucky Paul feat Milosh, Johnson, Brian Zents, Nicola Gala Agaric among others.

In this third installment we listen to the German artist Philip Bader. He started in the electronic scene in Berlin in the late 90′s as a promoter and DJ. He came to play at Tresor, the legendary club that was considered first at the time. From there, he continued claiming his place as a DJ in this competitive city with great performances and memorable parties. 2005 saw his emerging as a producer and his first track, but it was not until 2008 that he made the move towards regular and serious work in the studio. As a result of this, we see his works published by major labels like Kindish, Stil vor Talent, Bar25, Supdub, Dirtybird, plus good remixes for Get Physical or Kickboxer, among many others.

We travel to Switzerland to hear a good dj and producer who has published on the best European labels: Be As One, Hive Audio, Live Music, Hideout, and of course Saved. This attests to his skills as a producer, but he has also made great achievements as a dj. It began with a residency at Space Ibiza parties called ‘In bed with Space’, following with a compilation of deep house for Pacha that he made last year, and this is only the beginning. In conclusion, we present a great artist who perfectly combines his role as a producer with his dj side.

This young talent of the English scene has been gradually making his way onto labels such as Robsoul, Raum, Saved and Tsuba. This progress has occurred over the last two years since it was late 2009 when he decided to produce and translate those concepts around the house music that he had listened to when he was a child, when he was surrounded by vast quantities of vinyl. His productions are characterized by elegant musicianship, besides being effective tracks. This is why the new wave of British labels such as One or Smoke City consider him as one of the producers to keep track of.

Whoever follows their goal finally gets it. Alex attended a techno club for the first time at the age of 16 with his big brother. From there on, his whole life has been revolving around music and DJing. In 2005 he began his degree in sound engineering and, at the same time, working with Dj T (owner of Get Physical), recording and storing the vinyls. Upon finishing his studies and some tracks, he shows them to his friend Marc Poppcke, who decides to publish one of them by Sportclub. Then, he got to publish by Meerestief, Micro.fon, Moonpool and Freak Waves. In 2008 he signed with Supernature, while continuing to publish on Be Chosen, and the label of Nick Curly, 8bit. And as a final note for summary about Alex, in 2010 he created Soulfood along with with Marc Poppcke and Oliver Fritsche, through which they have already published music by Audiofly, Phonique and David Durango.

The Canary mate of Carlos Sanchez is now 31. He began DJing in early 2000, preferring the House and deep sounds. He also presented several radio shows and invited DJs who he was playing with on Saturday nights. In 2008 he sat in the studio with Carlos, and with just a few tracks made, joined the German label Super Fancy. There they were discovered as producers, and it was their first step towards publishing by labels such as Material Series, Einmaleins, 8bit, Tapas, Amoeba, Lucidflow or Suara. With the support of major national and international DJs, they have been nominated as revelation producers by DeejayMags in 2011.

The subject is young talent. At just 25 years old the Italian Mirco Violi has already entered the international scene. It all started with Multiview, the name he took with his partner Filippo Agnesi, in early 2000, and which came to be published by the label Mallory. Since 2005, Mirco has been focused on the creation of themes by himself and sending them around. In 2008 his work was published by major labels like Be Chosen or Heimatmelodie. From then on, the way has been only up for him: Sr.Coconut remixes, and more releases by OFF, International Freakshow, Hypercolour, Bloop, Bla Bla, Climatic Sounds, Catwash, and many more.

We start our Supernature zoom with a young and prolific artist. Despite his youth, Carlos Sanchez has published on a lot of labels, all of which were high quality: 8bit, Plastic City, Akbal, Material Series, Einmaleins, Phaze Records, Superfancy, Katchuli Records … Influenced by Jazz, Funk and Samba, Carlos has always created very musical themes, these being supported by great djs such as Richie Hawtin, John Digweed and Laurent Garnier. All this has been achieved together with his loyal mate, Dj Ray.

He got to release his albums by three of the most important labels of the world: Plus 8, Force Inc. and Scape, as well as a steady stream of consistently charted singles and remixes by the best DJs. His style sails from techno and house, to the jazz of his new formation called Blue Fields, with the singer Fadila and guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto. Apart of Cynosure, Mike runs Revolver (also Canadian alongside his fellow Jeff Milligan), doing one of his favorite types of work, discovering great talents such as Akufen, Deadbeat, Ernesto Ferreyra.

We come to one of the more organic and conceptual artists of the moment. Born in Bari (southern Italy), Andrea began playing the piano at the age of 8. Later he completed his studies with sound and film. His productions are a mix of live instruments and minimal techno, with melodies that escape the known structures. He takes great care of each arrangement to develop an organic track with great details. In 2002 he joined the group The Flame, which is a record label and a club party in Bari. As part of The Flame, he played with Deep Dish, Steve Bug and Craig Richards. In 2006 he moved to Berlin and created his own party: Too Wild Too Cool, where he also met Mike Shannon, with whom he started a beautiful and musical friendship.

Martin is 50% of Monoblock. Today based in Berlin, it was born in Montevideo 31 years ago. From Uruguay’s capital he moved to Valencia alongside Guillermo Miranda, with whom he created Monoblock. From there, they got into the European electronic circuit and published material on electronic music labels such as Minuendo, Archipel or the present one, Cynosure. His tracks are played by Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and Mathias Kaden, for their versatility and strength on the dancefloor. In 2011, Martin is walking alone and we are eager to hear his new works.

During his twenties, Will realized that he needed to express all the music he had inside his mind. But not the music his parents had tried to teach him, who urged him to play the piano and sax, but the music he heard in the clubs he visited throughout Europe.
