Barely.

My legs started to give after the 32K mark and it was an uphill battle thereafter. Ultimately, it took me 4h:51m:58s. Way off my target of 4h:40m. I guess once in a while we need a kind of reminder that we're not so tough after all.

Well, I did say that anything sub-5 hours and I'd be happy. I was happy. Just less so.

Will I do it again next year? Not sure. I wasn't too crazy about the queue for race packs -- standing in line for almost three hours was a bit much for me. It seems like we could've done with fewer runners, despite the proud proclamation from the organizer's chairman. The race-day logistics could've been better as well.

Then there was what was effectively 4-month commitment of running 3-4 times a week. I don't know, it just seems to me like a whole lot of pain and time and sacrifice. Full marathon is no joke, that much I can tell you.

Then again, if 42K were easy, my grandma would run every year.

So far, I've had but good experiences with Google products. First off, happy New Year! May the Year of the Earth Rat bring you the usual yadda yadda. Well, good yadda yadda, of course.

Speaking of the Year of the Earth Rat, I have by chance come across three different fortune predictions for this coming year. One of the common themes for those born Rabbits: romance is good this year. Damn, didn't see that coming, did you?

This site, for example, says in particular about those born in 1975: "If you are single, you would have good romances. If you are married, be careful of extra-marital affairs. You may not favor partnership business. Do not lend or borrow money."

Let's see now. I have yet to maintain a successful relationship -- well, a romantic one, anyway. And not for lack of trying, either. I broke out of a marriage engagement. All right, we did, but still. I am 32 and spending my midnights feeding and attacking other people's vampires and zombies. And while my youngest brother had a pretty gal fly over just to watch The Police with him, I stayed at home -- feeding and attacking other people's vampires and zombies, what else.

Check that. I hated Wilson.

Every morning when he arrived, he would say good morning to everyone around. Cheerfully, regardless of whether it was sunny or raining outside. Of course, only a handful would be around when he came in; he was always one of the first few. And the others would be in that early only because they had kids to send to school.
