Did you know that the vision for the first credit card was ignited when Frank X McNamara who was out eating with 2 colleagues discovered, after receiving his bill that he had left his wallet at home. He had to call his wife and ask her to bring some money [cash] to him so that he could pay his bill.

That event lead to the creation of the first credit card, which was called 'Diners Club'. At the time, the card was only developed for use at a few stores in New York, in the early 1950's. They started small, they only handed out 200 cards made of heavy card stock, that was initially accepted at only 14 restaurants in New York. By the end of that year, this concept had grown and the number of cardholders had increased from 200 to 20,000 users.

Since then, things have really changed dramatically. All of the major credit cards can be used internationally, at a variety of businesses. We are no longer limited to just restaurants that are in Manhattan. Back then the Diners Club card was a charge card that had to be paid off monthly, today our payments can be staggered over many months.

These days if you are thinking about getting a credit card, there are a few thing that you should consider...what is the APR [annual percentage rate]; can I transfer a balance from another credit card provider and and if so, what are the fees; and also what are the annual charges.

In the 1950's there was only one credit card, today everyone has their brand name on a card. So, I would do a little comparison shopping to find out which company has the best product with the best list of extras. For example, some companies in order to get your business will offer interest free credit cards for varying periods of time. But you don't have to spend hours on the internet searching for the right product...at 'ApplyForBestCredit', every imaginable credit card and the features are listed in just one place

Back then you had to apply for a credit card via snail mail. Boy, have things changed dramatically in less than 50 years, because now you can do that comparison shopping online, from one site and also submit your application , all right from your comfortable armchair. In some cases, you can get your approval within minutes and have your card mailed to you within a couple of weeks.

But all this technology does come with some drawbacks, and that is...the potential for credit card fraud. At 'ApplyForBestCredit' they have a section dedicated to some of the methods employed by predators,this insight will help you to avoid some of the traps that exist. While browsing around the EntreCard site just the other day, and trying to build up credits for a future project of mine I came across TysBlog.com. Now I have seen quite a few blogs that have discussed different systems to use to reach that 300 EC drop quota seamlessly. But Ty's outline caught my attention.

So, I followed his outline, and was amazed by it's simplicity, look if a technically challenged person like me, could install it and get it up and running. I know for sure anybody else could do it also.

I now have it in place and I am racking up EC credits BIG TIME, and I am happy as 'bee is to honey'.

DON'T BELIEVE IT

From time to time I have seen forum posts, ads and blog entries commenting on how easy it is to make money on the net. Well, if that were completely true...then why is there a 97% failure rate. Yep, statistically only 3% of us are going to make it.

Let's face it, there is MUCH to learn here. And once you understand how things work here, then yes ... it does get easier.

Granted, there may be a few amazing success stories, out and about on the net. There are always gonna be a few that are positioned right and their project or programs just take off, but that is not the 'norm'. And there are those others that are connected to friends, families, college buddies that have made it and those connections are willing too lend them a helping hand, these guys have an edge.

But if you are not connected, didn't get that break ... find someone, seek a mentor that has succeeded in a niche that you are passionate about and duplicate what she/he has done. I don't mean copy everything that they have ... the template, the content, the topics...No No No. But try to mimic what they have done ... get inside their heads and suss out their defining techniques, use what tools they have used to succeed, learn what they have learned. Most bloggers are quite up front, pay attention to what they are sharing and take advantage of that.

For most of us The Blogstitute should be our learning platform, search for a blogger that's on the Dean's list and start taking notes...

You ... we can do this.

AND WHAT ABOUT...

Whenever something new is on the horizon, everyone jumps on it ... me included ... if there is a chance that there is something to be gained ... we all want in ...

A while back I read an article about the color blue, and statistically if you are planning on selling something, anything ... an ad that includes that color, and by using that color you are increasing your chances of a sale. Gosh, am I ever sick of seeing ads with the color blue.

And what about the 'live operator' pop ups. Well, the ad doesn't stand a chance, by the time I get rid of those pop-up's I am ready to move on to the next item of interest.

You know what grabs my attention, something fresh and vibrant. I just hurriedly zip by the clones.

DISTRACTIONS

Grab the blinders, pull out the deeply tinted shades, don't be mislead by the numerous images of dollars signs, cascading $100 dollar bills, imported auto's, mini castles, beach front properties and the like ... Dig Deeper, these images are 'eye candy' thrown out there to get you too buy, buy, buy ... Dig Deeper.

I would just like to wish a very Happy Easter to all, hopefully it will be filled with all those wonderful little happenings that lead to a 'basket full of fond memories'. You know...most of us have celebrated this holiday for longer then we can remember, but have you every wondered about some of those other little things that seem to go hand in hand with this jubilant and springy time of the year.

Did a little digging and I do mean just a little...actually what I did was drop in on Wikipedia and did all my researching right there about some of those items that we incorporate into this Holiday. Check out some of the history behind some of the terms and symbols such as...

It would seem that this celebration has been infused with numerous customs, many would probably claim that Easter has become very commercial, however some of the traditions that we incorporate into this occasion are century's old, heralding from many countries and some of the practices were followed for very practical reasons...aside from the religious significance. Anyway, please look at what I found...it really is quite amazing...

Well, so have I and I found a great site that is as cheap as it gets[FREE], all the promoting is handled on their end, you can post every few days and they notify you by email when your ad needs to be resubmitted.

It just doesn't get any easier than that. For a couple of minutes every few days you can have your programs displayed...costing you nothing...and who knows, it could possibly land you a few recruits.

Just the other day I not only happened upon but joined a social bookmarking for video site. As a member you can either just share your vids or you can share vids and earn .30 per video viewed or you can do both. In order to earn for viewed videos, when you join you just indicate that you are interested in that aspect of the program and you will receive a sponsored email when there is something available that fits your profile. And then all you have to do is view, answer a related question to verify that you did in fact view it and you will earn your commission. You can expect to receive up to 2 emails a day and that's all there is to it.

Now at BuzzShed, oh, and that's the name of the site, you can also rate each video that you view and the videos with the highest rankings are listed in order according to that rank on the 'browse page'.

And some of the videos are just 'so precious' like the one that's right above this paragraph, I just gotta share them with you, so over the next few days I will be displaying some of my favs.

So, I found a new and fun site, that you can earn a few extra dollars a month at, and have a hoot doing it...

Not too long ago, I submitted a post and added a EC widget to my blog about a new networking platform called Entrecard.com. Lately I have been visiting the site daily, and interacting with other ECites that are participating in the program by viewing their blogs and dropping my card.

While visiting a blog called CK Marketing, which by the way, is loaded with a lot of helpful info about some wordpress features also, I noticed a post entitled 'Who Stumbled My Post'... A great read and it introduced me to a tool that registers hits to your blog or site in real time, it also provides a service that helps you to improve you position in search results by better utilizing 'long tail keywords' leading to your blog or site receiving more qualified visitors.

I haven't fully utilized all of the features, however I am completely satisfied with the stats counter that besides supplying me with a count also supplies my with a break down of exactly who is visiting my blog.

Just found another free and easy way to drive a little additional traffic to my site. Although this is the first day that I have inserted the card on my blog, I have really high hopes that this system will generate extra visits to my site.

Right now I have 2 reasons for supporting EntreCard, I do a lot of web browsing, and I have been reading a lot of positive buzz about this card at every site that I have seen the logo. The comments have all been the same, their stats have gone up.

Now, that's the first reason, secondly I found out about this tool earlier last week, I signed up, but continued working on other things that were already on my 'to do' list. Today I returned 2 the site because, I had a bunch of mail from EntreCard, also I was ready to give it a shot. Lo and behold, I had 7 ads in my 'advertisers box'. Well, that got me a little excited, already I had earned a few extra credits for advertising. People are interested in this little gadget, and this could lead to additional traffic and what blogger couldn't use extra traffic. Well, except for the 'Ultimate Blogging Gurus'.

Anyway, it's a snap to install and within minutes you can be up and running, dropping your card at 'fellow EntreCardites' sites and earning credits that can be used to advertise your blog. Oh, and I forgot to mention this is a credit based system; each time you drop a card you earn a credit, each time a visitor drops a card, you earn a credit. In order to advertise, you must have enough credits in reserve to cover 2 x the number of visits the site of your choice averages on a daily basis. So for instance, if I averaged 20 visits by EntreCard members a day, and someone choose to post an ad on my site, it would cost them 40 credits for an ad to appear for a 24hr period.

Wow, this is just too easy, I think I like it...

Although I love blogging and browsing the internet, there is a downside to this reverie ... you can become so involved and absorbed in what you are doing that you loose track of time. Even though the 'time invested' is productive, the minutes and the hours still, just seem to zip by.

And the reason I am bringing this topic up is because lately, I have been visiting blogs that are focused on 'moms' . And many of those blogs have jumped ahead a few months and they are writing about mother's day and how to prepare for it, what to get mom or where to take her.

One of the sites that I visited recently was just simply amazing. MothersDayCentral is completely devoted to 'Mom', every category and sub category has listings that suggest numerous things that can be purchased, hand made or pre-ordered for Mother's Day. As I mentioned above, I find that I loose track of time while I'm roaming through the blogosphere. So for people that are blogaddicts and get lost in the zone like me, MothersDayCentral has this incredible checklist that helps you to coordinate and lay out a better plan for that Extremely Special Day. This list leaves absolutely no stone unturned. Just about everything that you need to consider when preparing for that day is on that list.

So, although it may seem a bit early, maybe now is really the best time to start preparing ...

Begorra, when I was in high school St. Patrick's Day was a huge event ... fun and festivities abound, and the highlight to this event was that the seniors were allowed to participate in the annual St. Patty's Day Parade. So, the years prior to that was filled not only merrymaking but also anticipating that future privilege and then finally the gala.

Their wasn't any picking or choosing, or selecting from special clubs or groups ... all the seniors marched on that day.

Boy, was I excited and anxious, which really was quite surprising because I am really quite shy. But I guess because it was such a large group and all we actually did was march ... I can't remember any fears just the excitement at being apart of that event.

Have any of you wondered about 'who and what' this day is all about? Well, I found the answer to this query at Answers.com, I couldn't have told the story of this patron saint as eloquently as was depicted at this site. So, please visit and enjoy the read.

For a few weeks now, I have been entertaining the idea of changing my template. On one hand, this template is visually beautiful but it's missing some of the functionality that I require ... when I first seen this template, I downloaded it with the hopes of one day using it on this site many months before I actually did it. I really was afraid that I didn't have the skills needed to incorporate it into my existing site.

However, when I finally decided to 'go for it', the transition went so smoothly, I wanted to jump for joy. But lately I have been forced to accept the realization that this template doesn't offer some of the features that I would like to include here. So, my personal struggle should I or shouldn't I continues. I have found a few amazing templates, so one of the hurdles that I worried over has been satisfied. Now the fear of losing everything I have done to date ... is another consideration.

And to add to my dilemma, the other morning when I logged in, I encountered this hideous icon, that's displayed right in the top middle of my blog, that's proving to be an enormous annoyance. Folks, I do belong to photobucket, but my bandwidth has not been exceeded. OMGosh, I am discovering that in my little niche 'when it rains ... it pours'.

So, I may be forced to make that move to another template 'way before I am ready'. My only hope is that I will find a way to eliminate that nasty little 'icon' ...

If you arrived here on the internet with the hopes of building a full or part-time business and you ended up here in the blogosphere. And you think, well I have found my niche, after all there are folks here that are earning thousands of dollars monthly just blogging...Well, my advise too you would be ... yeh, this is a good place to start. However, don't throw all of your apples into just this one cart.

Explore other avenues, don't allow yourself to become too comfortable in just one marketplace. The internet is simply too fluid, although you may think you have found a stable platform, things can change here overnight.

Yes, you can establish roots in one niche, but send out your branches. Always keep your eyes open, for that ideal platform, that cottage industry of your own; because that enterprise that you have been seeking could be 'right up under your nose'.

For the last month, I have had to contend with quite a few computer issues. Initially I was a bit overwrought but after a few days of 'getting absolutely nowhere fast', I decided too use that time a little more constructively. So not only did I look back over my 2007 blogging year, but I began mapping out a blogging plan for 2008. I spent time thinking about my very first days on the net, and discovering about blogs and about the blogging community. I also thought about other things I had learned since coming here besides the many other programs and projects I have engaged in over this last year. When I look back, I think I have really been somewhat of a busy camper. And believe it or not that had somewhat of a calming effect on me ... re-channeling that chaotic energy into something productive ... this is something I definitely must incorporate and include on my 2008 list of things not to overlook.

So now I am back up and running somewhat more smoothly, and this past Sunday I spent most of my time checking and reading email, also visiting some of my favorite fellow bloggers blogs and finding out what the current buzz is. Now that lead me to checking to see where I stood as a blogger, much too my dismay I discovered I had dropped from a 4.0 blogger down to a numberless entity. Subsequently due to this power enforcement display, by you know who, untold thousands like me will be faced with a hard and completely unethical, and unfair decision ... should we fold and give in or stand our ground.

Here I was, just starting to get my feet wet, and during these past few months I had earned a small piece of change and finally I was starting to feel confident about the decision I had made about building my business here. But just look at what's happened, the proverbial rug has been pulled from under my feet and numerous others and I am again floundering in this net jungle.

This whole situation stinks, and the ones that will lose the most are the newer bloggers and those smaller relevant blogs with smaller audiences. And I further noticed that although at the beginning of all of this, some of the blogging guru's were slapped around a bit and ended up with 'goose eggs' for a short while. Now, however, their numbers have been steadily climbing and are almost back to where they were before this debacle, and I am sure within months...if that long...they will be back to where they were before this fiasco started. So it appears that 'if you have no juice you get no juice'.

OMGosh, it also appears as though no matter where you go you can't escape corruption. However, if I were a internet 'mover and shaker', I wouldn't sit so calmly in the background and think that my position was secure ... I would be leery. A segment of our community is under attack, and quite masterfully being shredded to bits and consequently many of us will feel the effects of that assault. Why should anyone think for a moment that it will end there, who knows where that axe will strike next.

Blogging is my new frontier, and I am not going to try to pretend for even a second that I am 'an authority' on anything. I am a novice to this and I have 'galaxies' to learn. Not that I mind, I am really enjoying everything about blogging. So, rather than pretend I am 'in the know', which I know I would be horrific at anyway, instead I will list just where I am on my trek to become a better blogger.

Although I am just starting out, I still will not hesitate to give an opinion. Which actually could become quite an amusing feature of this blog, because I am sure my views within this next year are going to change radically, it's unavoidable...as I get better at this, I know I will be correcting myself. So folks don't hold anything against me, both my weaknesses and assets are that I am an opinionated learner, so give me some room while I cross this road. And yes, laughing at my goofs are permitted.

And although I will be documenting and discussing the various items that I have discovered and will be utilizing on this blog, it will also be about other things, and not just the business aspect. Yes, I would like to make money and turn those doenuts (0) into dollars. But I also want to enjoy what I am doing here, I don't want this to be just a job. Like they say, 'I have been there and I have done that'. This blog will include items of interest also, the bottom line to this is, this blog will be all about me and the net.

Just the other day I came across this fun and interesting site called BuzzShed, which I previously talked about in a bit more detail in another entry. Anyway, some of the vids that I found were so compelling I wanted to display them in a few of my posts at DIID.

No big deal, I thought because 'Blogger' has a widget that allows you to include video's. Wasn't everyone doing it, and now I was about to join those 'ranks'. Well, yes ... Blogger has a widget, but the video has to be located in your files in order to upload it. OK, that presented a problem ... I had never downloaded a video. So, naturally that lead to a somewhat panicked search. I really wanted to do this, but I didn't know where to begin, what I had to learn, whether I would even find what I needed to accomplish this, and would it be easy enough for the 'technically challenged' to learn in less than a few days.

Much to my surprise, within minutes of my search, I found a tool that would accomplish this, a tool that was extremely user friendly and it only took a few extra minutes to learn how to do it, and in 'a snap' I had a video displayed in a post.

So, if there are others like me 'out n about' on the net, facing the same challenge that I was and you are looking for that perfect tool to store your video's to file ... look no further than KeepVid, they have the answer ... they have the TOOL.

I have been meaning to mention this site for quite a while now. I just don't know why I keep overlooking it. For many of us, this site could prove to be an invaluable tool that we can use as a reference before we become involved in any online program.

At WAH Watchdog, they have a list of on-line affiliate programs that are rated by the program users. Let me repeat that, we the affiliates, are the one's that are rating these sites. And if you have had a problem while participating in one of these programs, they will help you with resolving that issue.

Personally I would completely avoid any program that received an averaged rating of 'F' by 15,000 to 20,000 voters. For that matter 'C's' and 'D's' don't stand much of a chance either ...

I found another great little gadget that could be quite useful in a number of ways. If you follow this link it will take you to a page that has a tool that measures your google, alexa, technorati and yahoo rank.

You can also copy and paste a code that can be embed on your blog, so that you can proudly display your numbers. And get this you also have a few design choices.

If you noticed, the counter that I have already ... is quite plain and ordinary, but it blends in well with my blog and most importantly ... it get's the job done...

For some unknown reason, my wheels have been spinning today, but I am barely covering any blogging ground. I have a huge 'to do list', and I haven't even completed five items that are listed there.

Oh well, why fight it ... some days are just gonna be that way...no matter how prepared you think you are at the outset of the day. But I did want to share another nifty little tool that I came across that I am sure many of us bloggers will find invaluable. This item will count the number of words that you have in any post or article. And the best part is that it's FREE and easy to use, all you have to do is 'copy and paste'...click enter and 'WALLA'...you total count.

Just think of the time that can be saved, instead of manually counting, all you have to do is let your trusty little PC do the counting for you... Just Click HERE

So, I decided to share some of the tools that I have found, while working on various projects. Whenever I find what I consider a pretty nifty find, I will post it on Tuesdays ... Tuesday's Tools ... I kinda like that!

I realize some of my finds may not help everyone and some of them I am sure many of us will already be familiar with and probably are using everyday, but if 'my find' helps just one person, then Tuesday's Tools will be a success.
