Sweeten Up Your Super Bowl Party with this Fogelman CARES Recipe!

We all know that besides football, food is the most important thing at a Super Bowl party. If you’re throwing a small gathering at your Dogwood Creek apartment on Super Bowl Sunday, why not get creative with your snack ideas? While chicken wings and nachos are definitely football staples, don’t forget the sweet snacks as well! Here’s a recipe from our Fogelman CARES Cookbook for something to satisfy your sweet tooth:

Get ready for the biggest game of the year!

Crisp Mix Sweet Minglers

1 package (6oz 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
¼ cup peanut butter
½ cup peanuts (optional)
6 cups KELLOGGS’S CRISPIX cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

In large microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate at HIGH 1 minute**. Stir and heat 30 seconds longer at HIGH or until melted when stirred. Stir in peanut butter and peanuts. Gently Stir in KELLOG’S CRISPIX cereal, until evenly coated.

Place powdered sugar in 2-gallon zipper-type plastic bag. Add coated cereal to sugar and close bag. Gently toss cereal mixture until evenly coated. Store mix in an airtight container in refrigerator.

**Microwave cooking times may vary.

200 Memphis Children to Receive New Shoes and Socks at Event

200 kids in the Memphis area will receive new shoes and socks

Whether you are obsessed with shoes or just have a few pair that match your wardrobe, we should all think about those who aren’t fortunate enough to have shoes or whose shoes are damaged and unwearable. Organizations in Memphis are teaming up today in recognition of this problem and to help contribute to the cause.

The organizations participating in this event are Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club, Samaritan’s Feet and the Memphis Grizzlies. They will provide new shoes and socks to 200 children in Memphis. Recipients will be those who participate in organizations that include Catholic Charities of West Tennessee, Refugee Empowerment Program and Building Blocks Mentoring Program. They have been selected by each organization based on personal circumstances and family hardship.

The giveaway will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm in the grand lobby of FedEx Forum. OJ Mayo and Josh Selby of the Grizzlies, in addition to Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club members and Manny Ohonme – founder of South Carolina-based Samaritan’s Feet – will be at the event.

Luna is so very sweet and would make a great companion for any family! ******************** Prison Puppies Achieving Worthy Service (PPAWS) is a program in which inmates work with dogs waiting for adoption. Dogs are brought to the prison for a six-week stay where they are trained by inmates. A team of two inmates care for and teach a dog basic manners, including loose leash walking, sit, down, stay, and wait at the door. These dogs are also house trained and crate trained, while being socialized with other inmates, officers, and staff at the prison. This program teaches the inmate skills which can be used upon their release.
